I want to thank you for a perfect guitarThis baby looks, plays, and sounds like the Delta.
I appreciate all you've done to make this right, and I'm sorry if I came off a little harsh; I don't enjoy confrontation any more than you.
Thanks for shipping me a great product--a piece of art, really

Just want to respond to the new complaint lodged by R***. He bought a guitar (my LAST guitar!) and decided he wanted to return it for a refund,
which is fully within his rights. Problem is, my policy like pretty much everyones is that it be returned in the same condition that it was shipped in. As you can see from the pics below, it came back pretty much destroyed. The reason for this damage was that the buyer decided to put a large amount of cardboard under the headstock of the guitar in it’s case. This is the kiss of death in guitar packing, not just for my guitars but for any guitar. He even mentioned doing so in an email to me when he shipped it. Obviously it was well intentioned, and the buyer is for sure a good guy, but that was the direct cause of the damage you see belowI filed a claim with the USPS for $which is what it’s going to cost me to replace the damaged neck Since the claim had to be filed on his behalf as the shipper, any money they refund is going directly to him, not me. I was really hoping this would have been done/settled and I would be refunding the balance between the total of $1,paid and whatever USPS paid to him. As of yesterday, the claim has yet to be settled.
In the end, I’m going to refund him his entire amount assuming that USPS denies the claim. I had hoped this would have been settled and I’d be paying a lessor amount, hopefully $less but whatever. If the claim is not settled by monday, I’ll just refund him the entire amount and hope that if he get’s a settlement it’ll come back to me. I trust he’d do so but I’ve been burned myself on many occasions. Just want to balance out the complaint with the actual situation. I’m sending him an email that requests that any money USPS refunds him comes back to my by paypal if I go ahead and refund the entire amount
Most companies would likely say you break it you buy it and send it back. I”m not doing that and I will see he get’s whole, even if it means I have to eat a $repair. I don’t feel I should have to but will do so regardless. Just want you to see the entire story here. I’m essentially out of the HOT ROD business for the time being and this was literally my last HOT ROD guitar shippedBest regards,

I ordered a Squareneck Tricone Resonator Guitar from Vintage Nationals. I received the guitar 2 weeks after I ordered it. It is absolutely beautiful, plays great, sounds great. I couldn't be happier with it & the service I received from Lenny at Vintage National Guitars.

Review: I ordered a 14 fret tricone resonator guitar fro L[redacted] in January 2014. I paid $1025.00 by credit card. He repeatededly refused to answer my inquiries regarding my order status until September 2014. At that time he said he would refund my money as he could not get the guitar. To date, he has not refunded my money. Every month, I send him an email. He does respond eventually and says he will take care of it.in November 2014, he sent a personal check which bounce for NSF. My bank will only accept a cashier's check from him now. He says he has money in his PayPal account but I do not believe him. If he had it, he would be in a position to withdraw the sum and purchase a cashier's check.Desired Settlement: He has had my money for nearly 17 months. I just want a full refund $1025.00.

Review: I wanted to order a guitar from the manufacturer (Hot Rod Steel Guitars) so I went to their website. I chose a guitar I liked, typed in my debit card information, and a message popped up saying my information wasn't valid. I figured it was entirely possible that I'd made a mistake, so I retyped my billing information; same invalid notice pops up. I thought, maybe I'm not asking for the proper shipping price for the product, so I retyped my information with a different shipping amount; same invalid notice pops up. I sent a message via their "Contact Us" message board, asking why my information wouldn't go through, and within five minutes I get an email telling me the order DID go through. Imagine my surprise when I looked at my bank statement and found out that I'd been billed for all three orders and I was overdrawn on my account. I contacted the company's CEO, Lenny G[redacted], to inform him of the situation. He seemed very apologetic and assured me that he'd contact the card company immediately to fix the problem. Well, no such thing happened. I ended up having to go to my bank and have them recover my money, which would take anywhere from a week to ten days. And here I am, two weeks later, still with no money in my account, and without the actual product I originally ordered. I've been playing a cat & mouse game with Mr. G[redacted] ever since. He told me he shipped my order but messed up on the shipping label, thereby rerouting the order. Today Mr. G[redacted] told me over the phone that my package was in Pennsylvania and was being relabeled as we speak. Yet, I look at the tracking information on the USPS tracking system website and I see no indication that my package has been received by USPS. I'm at the end of my rope with Lenny G[redacted] and Hot Rod Steel Guitars. I owe rent, internet, and schoolbook fees. I have no earthly idea why this man is still in business. Since this fiasco began, I've seen countless internet forums dedicated to complaints about this company.Desired Settlement: I want the exact product I ordered, plus the $1706.00 for the orders I didn't know I'd placed, plus the $37.00 overdraft fee.

Response:

Customer ordered the same order 3 times by mistake. We have since refunded his credit card thru the Card Processing company for two of the orders. His 3rd item has been shipped and is due to arrive monday. USPS tracking number 9405 [redacted]2 97. In addition, I'm going to be crediting the buyer an extra $200 discount once he approves of the guitar for the hassle. There was certainly no intention to disappoint and no benefit to this happening. In fact, this is the very first time this has ever happened where a buyer mistakenly bought he same item several times. I've called emailed and apologized both on the phone and thru email. Everything should be fixed at this point.

Review: I 'm writing to lodge a complaint against Hot Rod Steel Guitars {[redacted] Road, Santa Barbara, CA 93105; ###-###-####). I've attached an email chain which provides more detail.

I ordered a guitar over the phone from the President of the company, [redacted] on April 2, 2014 and was told to expect the guitar within two weeks. I paid in full via credit card that day ($1095). Despite many phone calls and emails to find out the status of the order I was never given a definitive date by when I can expect the guitar to be delivered. When contact was made the delivery date was always two weeks away.

Subsequent phone calls and emails went unanswered. Finally in early July Mr. [redacted] answered the phone and I demanded my money back. He assured me that upon completion of our phone call my payment would be refunded within two days and that I would receive a confirming email on the transaction.

I have neither received my refund nor have I been able to reach Mr. [redacted]. Phone calls go unanswered and emails are ignored. He provides a phone message when called and his website continues to be open to accept orders.

Any efforts that you can make to convince him to return my full payment would be appreciated.Desired Settlement: Any efforts that you can make to convince him to return my full payment would be appreciated.

This process took nearly a year of dogged persistence on my part and that of others. In addition to contacting [redacted] I also reached out to California Department of Consumer Affairs and, since this incident occurred during my residency in Texas, the Texas State Attorney General's Office. Mr. [redacted]'s curt response of having made a refund is, while "mostly true", factually inaccurate.

I strongly urge anyone considering conducting business with Mr. [redacted] to be very aware.Regards,[redacted]

Review: In May, 2014 I sent Mr. G[redacted] a 1932 National guitar for consignment. I also sent a box containing some original parts. The guitar not having sold I emailed him a week ago and asked that he send it back. Having not heard from him I called and got a message saying his mailbox was full. I then searched on the internet and see that TV station KEYT in Santa Barbara ran a piece about Mr. G[redacted] and his not honoring contracts and also found a number of posts on various guitar forums complaining of having sent Mr. G[redacted] money and not receiving what was ordered or sending him consignment items and not getting them back. The instrument I sent is a collector's item and is worth several thousands of dollars.Desired Settlement: I would like Mr. G[redacted] to ship my guitar - and the box of original parts - back to me.

Review: I wish to bring something to your attention which we find absolutely disgusting, my name is Mrs [redacted] and l live ,with my husband here in England 30 miles north of London, my husband is a very sick man suffering from chronic anxiety and stress and one of his passions is playing country / folk music on his guitar, at the beginning of last year 2014 he saw a special guitar being played on You Tube, he liked it so much that he decided to save his money as best he could and find one of these special guitars, the guitar being a 12 string tricone resonator, so he had a look on Ebay and found a company in Santa Barbara America known as Hotrod Steel guitar co or Vintage National guitar co, [redacted], Tunnel Road, Santa Barbara, CA 93105 and the owner being a Mr [redacted].

My husband contacted the company through email and Mr [redacted] said that with postage the guitar would cost $1720.00 American dollars, this was a lot of money in our household as l am a 74 year old pensioner and my husband a 73 year old pensioner and a very sick one, he tried his best to save the money for this guitar but l could see he was getting nowhere so as to try to bring a little happiness into his life l gave him the money to purchase this guitar that he so badly wanted.

So on July the 9th last year the money was sent through Paypal for the purchase of this guitar, it is now 255 days later and we have received nothing, all we get from Mr [redacted] are pathetic excuses and lies and he now wants to change the original guitar that my husband fell in love with to something that we have never seen, would anyone in their right mind pay $1720.00 for something they have never seen, the original guitar that my husband wanted had a pearloid overlay on the head stock, really beautiful and he now says that he can't get the pearloid anymore and is replacing it with wood, this is totally against the contract we had with Mr [redacted] when we paid the money.

Because of all the aggravation that Mr [redacted] has caused my husbands health has deteriorated and he suffered a mild heart attack and l could loose him because of this and l just don't know how this man sleeps at night knowing full well what he has done, because of all this he has upset my whole family and the last Christmas was the worst ever, so really what l am asking for is your help to get this mess sorted out, Mr [redacted] still has my $1720.00 and we have nothing only false promises and lies from this man.Desired Settlement: Refund

Review: August 28th, 2015 I mailed a certified check for $2695 to Mr L[redacted] of Vintage Nationals in Santa Barbara, California for National Steel Guitar number 317 that was advertised in NationalGuitar.com. The check was mailed to Mr G[redacted] at [redacted] Santa Barbara, CA 93110. The check was made out to Mr G[redacted]'s account at the Bank of America, #0004 [redacted]8. The check has been cashed. As of today, September 24th, 2015 I have received neither the guitar nor the funds. Last week and again today I asked Mr G[redacted] to return the money by email. Last week he promised the guitar to arrive here today (9/25). Yesterday, his email stated the instrument would be here Saturday 9/26Desired Settlement: Please immediately refund $2695
