On 8/1/I un-enrolled at Ashford University with a zero financial balanceToday I received an email stating that I owe them 1687.00, when I called them, at first I was told that they could not give me any informationI called a different number and was transferred to the VA specialist and he told me I owed for classes because I did not complete the academic yearWhen I questioned the difference in amt between and classes, he then proceeded to tell me it was for "upcoming classes"When I questioned why I was being charged for classes I did not take he rambled on about my financial aid being returnedI asked him directly what classes I was being charged for and he would not answerI ended our phone call when he refused to tell me what I was being charged for and why my acct balance mysteriously went from to Please note that Ashford charged me an average of per class, so if I owe for classes(whether past or upcoming), how does it equal 1687? I ultimate

This university calls me at inappropriate hours from multiple numbers after being told not to contact me againI’ve indicated my lack of interest and at this point feel as if I’m being harassed

After reading all of the negative reviews, I felt the need to insert my positive experience with Ashford UniversityAshford University is regionally accredited through WASC and The Forbes School of Business of which I’m enrolled is IACBE accreditedI've found the material to be challenging and relevant to enhance my career and personal growthThere is a very large amount of reading along with a fast paced learning schedule which isn't for someFor me, the asynchronous learning schedule is ideal as I'm a working professionalIf not for the technological advancements that have allowed for this type of degree pursuit structure, obtaining my degree would be a much more arduous taskOnce class at a time condensed into weeks is about 15-hours worth work of work and requires a fair amount of grit and perseverance

I have several disputes and appeals currently open with Ashford University; grade appeal, tuition credit refund, consecutive course drop; the list goes on I completed a degree program and officially finished in October of this year However, due to a supposed balance on the account, they are withholding everything I have spent two months on the phone with different departments, each one saying they could not figure out why I have a balance and stating, "I will get with my supervisor and call you back" I have already paid, out of pocket, just under $ They want an additional $stating that I reached my limit with FAFSA Oddly though, they actually returned a PELL grant, and are seeking an increased amount from the Department of Education to cover the balance The problem has been looked at, combed through, talked about, reported, all to no resolve There is no explanation as to why I was set up on different payment arrangements, why they were canceled, and how there

I've been asked for documents after documents! I've sent everything I've been asked to send! Then when I had an issue with getting a particular document from the IRS, I was told I could get it (IRS Transcript) from my fafsa IRS retrieval toolI turned that in and was told THAT WAS THE WRONG DOCUMENT! So I had to stay on the longest hold EVER with the IRS just to request for my transcript and still had to wait SEVEN DAYS until I received it in the mailOnce I got it I faxed it, emailed it and uploaded it onto the funding portal to make sure it was received! I have emailed the financial aid department EVERYDAY to make sure they have everything and even asked to expedite my process because of all I've been through! I was told since they've already reviewed and stated the documents I've sent over were satisfied that I have to wait some more up to 3-weeks!!! I think NOT! if that's the case I'm going to dis enroll from this school and go to another university and I will make sure I tell everyone about this miserable experience with the financial aid departmentI've already completed TWO week courses and i'm almost complete with my first week in my 3rd courseI feel like the financial aid department had me going around and around with this to stall time or somethingThis is not OK especially when I look into my portal and see my classes balance is over 5000!

Upon starting my travels to higher education, Ashford University made the process extremely easyI filed for my FASA, which was approvedFast forward to a year later, I updated my FASA information, received my "Award Letter," but then was informed that I needed to submit proof that I graduated (which I did, it took weeks for them to update it in the system, I still have a hold for it according to the student portal), a notarized document for my Financial Aide (that I sent in Notarized by a local bank and had to explain several times that because they kept asking or suggesting UPS...I live in a rural area the nearest UPS is more than an hour away from my home), and several other documentsI was told that the ID that I used was not acceptable, and until I sent them an acceptable ID (which I do not currently have the funds to get), I cannot attend coursesI was in my third week of a course when they dis-enrolled meI just checked my student portal, as my Adviser told me I would not be charged for this course, but there it is as a chargeDO NOT ATTEND this college! I wish I had waited another month to look into Colleges, as my state now offers tuition free colleges coursesI'm in debt over $10K in student loans, with Ashford University saying that I owe them another $3K! I basically wasted this last year and put myself in debt for nothingI'm hoping that I can get into a State College before I have to pay these loans backAt minimum wage (which I was trying to get away from) it's going to be a very long time to pay this debt offThanks Ashford for the wasted time, money, stress, and current headache!

I graduated from this University in July They are holding my transcripts and degree because of a billing error that they causedI withdrew from a class, in the correct amount of time, and now they are saying I did not and want me to pay an additional dollars for this classI had already paid for a class because they stated I had plagiarized a paperI had shown that the system picks up on quotes, that I had correctly sited, and that I did not plagiarizeThe appeal process was useless and I had to take out a loan to pay for the class againNow they are stating I owe an additional dollars and will not release my transcripts or degreeI used the transcripts to be reimbursed, through my job, and recoup some of the money I have to pay outI now cannot get the reimbursement and I need the money as I am a single mother and I have to count every cent

I was attending ashford university which is located in San Diego California from 02/04/ until 05/20/I live in Georgia and I decided to leave the school because I felt that I wasn't going to be able to become a teacher with that degree that I was obtainingWhen I spoke to my advisor at ashford university and told her that I was deciding to leave she was asking me was there anything that they can do or change to get me to stay at their school and I told her noSo I then started to attend another school ilthat is located in Georgia by the name of *** universitywhen I spoke with my advisor at ashford univerity and informed her that I have decided to attend another school she said that it was going to effect my financial aid going from school to schoolWhen I left they didn't tell me anything about me having a balance on my account but now that I decided to go to another school that's when they said that I own them a balance of 1,dollars and they said I have to pay

I have been attending Ashford University for the past three and a half years, I am five classes away from finishing and they pulled my name to do an identity checkThey also around that time decided to issue emails to students my whole time there I have used my regular email so never thought to check the student email account they had given me
I was three weeks into a class when I went in to do my homework to find out they had kicked me out over the paper workSo That day I got all the paper work and overnight it to themNow they are telling me that because they kicked me out that I will have to pay over to get back in schoolI old the lady that I should not be charged for the class that I was kicked out of and she told me I was yet later told me I was but did not know whySo now I have no degree, owe thousands in loans and they will not work with me to finish my degreeIf they are doing this to me how many more students have used up all their grants at this sch

Ashford will steal your money! They will convince you and tell you what you want to hearAll I wanted was a degree to obtain a better job and they used that to their advantageThey only want your money and will wait until you have already invested years of your time to surprise you with an outstanding balance of thousands of dollars that accumulated over the yearsYes, the charges appear out of the blueI was told it was technology fees and other charges that the student loans did not cover$8,895! really?!
Something needs to be done, education is not a business!

I enrolled in the university, but decided to withdrawal after further researching their historyThey had previous lawsuits that were "cleared" up, but at that point, I did not feel comfortable attending the school After deciding not to attend the university and telling the advisor about my decision, the advisor kept calling and emailing trying to persuade me to attendThey would not take no for an answerThe advisor belittled my reasoning for not attendingThey became very condescending and spoke as if they knew what was best for my lifeThey told me if everyone in life followed their gut feeling, people wouldn't get anywhereI kept receiving phones calls/emails about every other day, I blocked the advisor's numberMonths later I received a phone call from the university, I sent it to voicemail and I immediately received an email from the same advisorThe email said they understood previously wasn't a good time for me, but they would like for me to attendTiming had nothing to do with the choice of not attendingThe advisor made the entire situation very uncomfortable and they were very pushy

Getting constant phone calls I filled out an online form in in error I emailed yesterday to asked to be removed

I finished my BA in four years at AshfordThroughout the four years I believed that my criminal record would not affect my prospects for employment in my fieldI was told this at enrollment by the enrollment advisorOnce I graduated I found out that this was not the caseI now owe 65,dollars for a diploma that I will never be able to useWhen I messaged to find out what could be done, I was told to email their department that handles these mattersDo not sign up for this collegeThey are full on scam artists

As a single mother of 3, I called Ashford University to request information about the school The 'salesperson' told me that I could complete a year BA in years or less and that credits could be transferable if I went to another college, for whatever reason After taking online classes for a little over a year, I had to temporarily drop out of the program to work a part-time job on top of my full-time job Unfortunately, my credits are non-transferable and I have to pay $16,in student loan debt Seriously...this so called 'university' needs to be shut down by the feds Extremely over-priced, pushy salespeople, misleading information, online scam artists

I've been attending Ashford for a while nowI'm three classes into my degreeI have never had any issues with Ashford...I really don't understand all these negative reviewsFrom the very beginning my advisors have been helpful and personable, and they've made themselves very available to me to help me when I need itThey've never let me down and honestly it's the support I've felt from the staff at Ashford that is a significant factor in my confidence that I can succeed at this schoolThe course material is paced well for the working adult who also has familial responsibilitiesMost of my peers in my classes maintain full-time jobs and have kidsAt the same time, the material is engaging and challengingAshford uses multi-media technology often to keep the learning experience interesting and honestly, my ebook is sometimes hard to put downI feel motivated to succeed, and I know I canI am growing as a person because of this online university that is so accessible to me as a disabled woman, who has a hard time taking transit to physical classes

Im writing in hopes of a better resolution to my financial disputeWhen I enrolled in school, I informed my advisor before signing me up for any legal obligations that any out of pocket expenses would not be in my best interest as I did not have the means for any out of pocket expenses for schoolI would solely rely on financial aidShe assured me there would be no worries, guided me through the financial aid process and I was signed up for school.through year one, I noticed I was accruing a balanceI received, around this time last year, a warning from the financial department that a hold would be placed on my account for an outstanding balanceI reached out to financial multiple times until I spoke with a representative and explained that I was unclear how the financial side of this workedI told him the way it was explained to me and he explained to me a little more in depthHe told me not to worry about the balanceHe said my financial aid would increase each year and I wou

I have contacted them several times about making payments and request medical excuses forms for classes missedWhile waiting for forms to correct amount due the debt was sent to collectionsI tired to make payments to keep it from defaulting but there was a known problem on their website that was preventing online payments to be made
I tired to make a payment several times but it was sent to collections before website payment issue was correctedI contacted them and asked for debt to be recalled from the collection agencyThey told me there was nothing they could do until I filled out the medical formsThey still have not sent me the forms after requesting them over the phone and via email

Ashford has some major truth in advertising problems in their admissions department I have been working with one person in particular as an admission counselor who has continually used information to mislead me and sway me into enrolling in the school While I understand that the admissions department of any college has the singular goal of enrolling as many students as possible, it should NEVER be done dishonestly
During my interaction with MrAndrew T***, the following occurred:
1- He told me the school was a non-profit college, which is entirely untrue
- He told me that with an Associate's Degree from any accredited institution, regardless of the area of study, I would be able to transfer in at a Junior's status and take two years to complete my bachelor's degree When I submitted my transcripts for review, the school only granted me half of the credits he promised me would transfer
- Upon completion of my FAFSA, he called to inform me that I had 600% of my Pell Grant available for use and that I was eligible to use the full amount of $5,per year while enrolled in college This was a blatant lie, as I later discovered I am not eligible for even a partial Pell Grant
- He told me I could test beyond, or write an essay for any class if I felt I had the knowledge base for a fee of $ While this was mostly true, though it is not possible for any class, he neglected to inform me that I would still have to take the full number of credits in order to receive a degree He also told me that the essays would accumulate those same credits, which is not true
I am extremely grateful that I did my research and took my time instead of giving into the pressure tactics he tried to use in order to get me to enroll in the school, but I caution anyone looking at going back to college to avoid Ashford University completely!

Based on the misadvisement of a Supervisor at this location, I a student have been placed in the process of having to withdraw from the University due to this issueI had an issue with a professor at the University and was able to reach out to an advisor's supervisor who was able to correct the matter and have the class reimbursed
Also in this matter this same supervisor led me to believe that my student account would stay the same and any disbursement allocation would not change by date or amountThis turned out not to be true and the allocation was needed to continue my education because new equipment was neededWithout the equipment I am no longer able to continue my education because of non access to other optionsI have filed a complaint with the school regarding this matter and due to supervisor not being recorded, they were unable to assist
I have provided emails to build my case of the misadvisement, but the school has decided to take the word of the

In Oct 2015, I began contacting the college regarding applying for student loans because my GI Bill had been exhaustedAfter numerous request, I finally received a responseI submitted the online forms and waited for follow upAfter an extended period of time, I followed up with my academic advisor who indicated the forms had not been received
At this time, I had completed my final class and the college programMy advisor them provided me with the forms to fill outI resubmitted, however was informed that now that the program ended I could not apply for the loan to cover my remaining balanceThe academic advisor never provided me with that information and made it sound like I could complete the forms without a problem, even after I finished the last classAfter numerous emails back and forth my only other option was to file a disputeI filed the initial dispute request weeks ago and after about a week received an email asking for a time to speak with meI follow
