Bad Business
I went to Volkswagen of Lees Summit in hopes to find a reliable car for my daughter. Upon arrival, I informed the sales associate that I had purchased my daughter a car previously from an auction and it was a lemon. The salesman spoke to me about their reputation with customers, commitment to satisfaction and how it was their mission to make a customer for life. I found a Jeep that my daughter loved. However, it had not been looked at by the mechanics yet. I was hesitant to complete the paperwork if they had not checked the vehicle yet. I was informed that if there were issues they would not sale me the car and would have to find something else in my price range. The dealer kept the jeep almost 2 weeks after I signed the paperwork. I paid $8,169.00. My daughter drove the Jeep to high school and to work less than 5 miles from our home. When we purchased the Jeep it had 158,487 miles and it now has 161,053, she has driven a total of 2,566 miles in the three months. My husband drove it to work one day because his truck was getting scheduled maintenance and he said it was not accelerating properly. We bring it in for service they tell us it needs a transmission. Spoke to the used car manager and he told me that I signed the "as is" agreement so there was nothing he could do. I have never purchased a car from a dealership that only lasted for 2,500 miles. It is a shame that you all would do a hard working family this way. I believe that the repair men knew this jeep was not in good condition. Probably why it took two weeks for them to deliver. Instead of doing the right thing and telling us that they found things that would not make this a good sale, we need to come back in an pick something else they did what unethical people do and took advantage of us believing in their commitment to doing right by the customer.

This customer’s issue is NOT with this dealership, Volkswagen of Lee’s Summit, nor does the dealership have any means to facilitate a license renewal on the customer’s behalf. Clear title was transferred to the customer originally upon purchase, which she, in turn, was able to use to register
her leased vehicle in Missouri (where she resided at the time). As the customer explained, she moved to Kansas afterward and is having issues renewing her plates in Kanas. In an attempt to assist the customer, our Controller met with her for over an hour and facilitated a conference call between her, the dealership’s Volkswagen Credit, Inc(VCI) representative, and a member from the Title Department of Volkswagen Credit Leasing. The VCL representative assured the customer she had everything she would need from VCL in order to renew her plates with the Kansas DMV. The customer was instructed to call the VCL rep direct from the license bureau if there were any further issues so the VCL rep could speak direct with the Kansas DMV employee in hopes of resolving any lingering issues while the customer was at the DMV. Ms*** left the dealership promising to keep the Controller updated as to her progress in this matter but since Ms*** did not contact our Controller again it was assumed she was able to complete her renewal without any further issue It is extremely disappointing Ms*** chose to file a complaint against this dealership even after going above and beyond our scope of responsibility to try to help her resolve her issue. Ms*** must work direct with Volkswagen Credit Leasing to resolve her issue. She has the contact information for that person as well as the cell number for the dealership’s Volkswagen Credit rep. We would appreciate your help in re-directing Ms***’s efforts to the correct parties Thank you,

Complaint: 10733071
I am rejecting this response because:
The company completely ignored the facts:I was never contacted to have the issue resolved. I was contacted because VW Lee's Summit wanted to get positive feedback on my experience, and sell me vehicles (We are here for you, if you want to buy another vehicle.)The vehicle in question was to be in driving condition, as I was to take a test drive with the vehicle. That was my reason to come to the dealership. The vehicle was offered to me originally for the price quoted, but in driving condition, without issues that would prevent it to be driven legally in the state of Missouri - since I was going to take it for a test drive, it had to be street legal and derivableI had verified that the vehicle was available, and could be taken for a test drive, twice before coming in (more than due diligence on my part).Unreasonable is that the intelligence of the Revdex.com and myself is being insulted by the company's response to this complaint. The passive aggressive style is obvious, and the response as a whole shows lack of integrity, as did the original contact by a manger. I asked to speak to the owner. I was promised to get a callback from the owner. This never happened. Instead, after me inquiring why I had not been contacted after over two weeks of waiting, I received a call from the Sales Manager, who insulted my intelligence on the phone. He was condescending, to say the least, and was not providing any options. I was asked what I wanted instead. I gave the person on the phone the following information: You guys screwed it up, come up with a way to make it right. You cost me $10,000 because I could not purchase the vehicle in driveable, MODOT requirements fulfilling condition, contrary to what I was told on the phone twice - by your sales person. It seems VW of Lee's Summit's opinion what constitutes a reasonable response is not calling back when promised, and making false claims when responding. The person, stating he was the Sales Manager, stated that he would call me back after having spoken to the owners, since this would be a decision he could not make. I never received that callback, nor any offer besides the one stated in the response to the complaint, which I was given at the time of my visit. Over a week later I contacted the Revdex.com. That is more than reasonable. So, the unreasonable party here is VW of Lee's Summit. The omission of facts shows the lack of integrity. The response is an insult to the intelligence of the readers. As far as I am concerned, VW of Lee's Summit owes me the loss of $10,000.-. The company admitted that the vehicle's price on the marked, in proper driving condition would be around $20,000.-. I believe it is absolutely reasonable to require the company to compensate me for the loss; I even provided a possible solution: give me a $10,000.- credit towards the purchase of any vehicle in the lot. I am even willing to say, any used vehicle in the lot. I am also willing to offer the following solution: VW of Lee's Summit provides a vehicle that is less than 10 years old, with 4-wheel drive and a standard transmission, that is in perfect working order, with less than 100,000 miles on it. All repairs have been made. The vehicle comes with a bumper-to-bumper, all encompassing warranty for 2 years, with a free rental for any repairs needed. All functions that the vehicle had in its original state from the manufacturer are in perfect working condition at time of pickup. VW of Lee's Summit covers the taxes and registration cost for the first year. This is a one-time offer, and expires at noon (all paperwork has to be completed, and ownership of the vehicle has to be transferred to me by that time) on August 12th, 2015. The vehicle may not be from any of the following manufacturers:Any GM, including, but not limited to GMC, Chevrolet, Buick, CadillacJeepChryslerEagleDodgeFiatAt this point they are still saving money, considering the damage that can be done through social media, and legal costs. I have been more than patient with them. No reasonable offers have been made by VW of Lee's Summit to this point. The offer made is an insult, as it does not take into account the original premise.I will deal with VW of America separately. Their lack of response, mirroring VW of Lee's Summits attitude towards their customers, will not go unnoticed.

Thank you
for the opportunity.  We sincerely
apologize for the lack of communication in explaining the reasoning behind our
pricing and financing.  Often times
manufacturers offer rebates or incentives to buy a vehicle a certain way.  In this particular case, Volkswagen...

was
offering an additional $1000 when financed with Volkswagen, which is how we got
to the $20,500.  When you wanted to
finance with an outside lender, the $1,000 rebate goes away – which makes the
price of the vehicle go up to $21,500.
We did offer
you best options to purchase a vehicle either financing thru VW or thru your
[redacted]  Again, I do apologize that
this was not clear.  We have spoken to
the sales management team on how to handle this in the future.
We will sell
you the car for $20,500 with the remote start and allow you to have the outside
financing.  We believe this is more than
a fair deal.  Please advise how you would
like to proceed.  Thank you.[redacted]Customer Relations ManagerVW of Lee's Summit###-###-####
