It's not good service to the customer to return there cleaning deposit back and a month instead of 7 to 10 days you want your money immediately so do we I will never rent from you guys again this is ridiculous

I have used VRBO for 3 years and until now they have turned into a terrible user friendly platform for vacation renters. I had a guest stay and check out 3 hours late while also trashing my place. VRBO wouldn’t help me get more money for their extra stay and allowed them to write a terrible review of us on their site. They can’t remove it and told me I would have to ask the guest to remove it. And they are now charging banking fees of 12% on every payment not the overall payment. So disappointed and frustrated.

Terrible company! Worst customer service ever! You call them, they ask for you to email pics of your safety concerns of the property you rented their their company. I sent lots of pics of mold and smoke detectors that were disconnected completely. They don’t man their emails. You need to then call back and start the process all over again. They wanted more pics. I sent more pics. I try to call to follow up and now the phone isn’t even connecting -so much for24/7 help and service. They allow people to scam others- over charge- and have disgusting dirty- mold infested properties. Will never use them and I am telling everyone I know to not use them.

The biggest mess trying to cancel my reservation due to Covid. VRBO was incredibly rude and refused to transfer me. Would no refund the CLEANING FEE or the $73 service fee. Only giving us back the taxes. Their Covid policy states flexible credits to be offered and the property owner did not “feel comfortable” allowing us to change our dates. We got robbed and I’m so disappointed.

If I could give ZERO stars, I would. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Due to covid and inadequate time to quarantine after the trip, we had to cancel. The homeowner was less than accommodating to say the least. She never backed down on refusing to let us reschedule or cancel with a refund. She kept stating she was "uncomfortable" rescheduling for spring. We had several people in a high risk category that was supposed to attend the trip, but once again, she told us to use a mask. The business VBRO only allowed us to get taxes back. They refused to give us cleaning fees, service fees etc. So here we are, out around $800. The homeowner gets to treat guests like garbage while still getting paid. AirBNB is a far better company to deal with. NEVER AGAIN VBRO.

Total crap company that did virtually nothing for their renters during the Covid-19 pandemic. I will never use them again. I'll stick with a company like AirBnB that did the right thing during this time.

Terrible. As a property owner I have witnessed VRBO continue to change the fees and now hold money that guest pay until after check in. This allows VRBO to use the money for their advantage. Include the ability to make money with interest that adds up while they hold it.
Then, after the renters check out the delayed return of the security deposits. Weeks after we're ok the deposit to be returned.

Booked 3.5 weeks out, owner cancelled 2.5 weeks out because my booking "didn't fit their cleaner's schedule," They refunded a portion of the funds, but didn't complete the cancellation, so my fees, etc. were pending in no-man's land. Took me multiple disconnects on the chat to finally get someone to chat and a significant amount of time to get an answer on why the fees, etc., were not being refunded. It states in multiple places (phone message, website) that it will take 3-4 weeks to get my $500 refunded. They can take the money out instantly, but need a month to refund? Not acceptable. When I asked the person on chat about this, they said that that had been updated to 5-7 days. Again, not seeing that in writing anywhere. When I called the customer service number, I was told it would be 3-4 weeks to refund, waited in the queue for over 20 minutes and was disconnected. Multiple follow ups also resulted in long waits and no one answering (hey....at least I wasn't disconnected). So... $500, no nice long weekend away with my family - zero satisfaction. Will never do business with VRBO again.

SERVICE FOR REFUND HAS BEEN HORRIBLE I MADE RESERVATION AND THE HOUSE WASN'T AVAILABLE NOT MY FAULT 2 WEEKS I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY REFUND I DID NOT CANCEL THE HOUSE WAS NOT AVAILABLE BUT THEY STILL EXCEPTED RESERVATION NOTHING THAT I DID AND THEY ARE THAT IT WILL TAKE 3-4 WEEKS TO RECEIVE MY 2000 DOLLARS BACK I HAVE VACATION PLANNED FOR ME AND MY FAMILY AND NOW THEY HAVE 2000 DOLLARS OF OUR VACATION MONEY TIED UP THIS IS ABSOLUTE BS ONLY TOOK 30 SECONDS TO TAKE MY MONEY AND I KNOW IT DOESN'T TAKE MORE THAN THAT TO REFUND IT

DO NOT USE VRBO OR HOME AWAY!! THEY ARE A RIP OFF! I have used VRBO for years and have never been charged a separate fee for their services. This year I was charged $435 directly by VRBO as a separate fee in addition to the advertised fees by the unit owner. I disputed this charge with VRBO to no avail. I WILL NEVER USE VRBO OR HOME AWAY AGAIN. I will only book directly with the unit owner and avoid VRBO's outrageous fees. I suggest you do the same.

We had to pay a $1000 deposit in order to rent a home for 4 nights. This was fine until the owner never released the funds requiring VRBO to release them 14 days after we checked out. We now have to wait 4-6 weeks for that money to “process”. We would have never booked through them if we knew we’d be waiting for $1000 for up to 8 weeks after our stay.

Bait and switch. Booked a home for $189 per night. Property owner confirmed booking then messaged to say it was $700 a night!! Took payment and asked if we were ok paying that crazy amount.
We said absolutely not and that we would look for a other property.

Vrbo was no help through this kept giving property owner chances to give our money back and we’re still waiting. Vrbo has acted like it’s a bother to call them and have the poorest customer service I’ve ever encountered.

I’m out over 2k on what was supposed to be our once in a life time family vacation because if Covid. The owners of the property won’t answer msg from us and VRBO has not done anything to try and compensate us. They offered to credit our booking fees to use another time. No thanks! It was the first and last time I’ll book through them.

VRBO holds zero accountability of the houses/locations it lets people rent out. Due to covid 19 a lot of plans for our honeymoon/wedding/bachelor parties changed. VRBO was absolutely no help in trying to get refunds for services we were not able to use due to our governor mandating it.

Did not even try to help us out, just said we are out of luck. Why would we ever use them for any rental/vacations if they basically just say sorry your out $1500.

Waiting four weeks for a credit card is not reasonable. In addition, it is impossible to find a human being to talk with either by telephone or online chat. After waiting more than 30 minutes (the indicated wait time) the chat is disconnected. So, wondering whether vrbo will go bankrupt before I get my refund.

This is by far the worst Short term rental company you can deal with as a Host and Guest. Don't try to save $200-$500.00 with them by using them vs Airbnb or other STR companies. They will scam you with every service fee even with a full refund during COVID. We are a host as well and been scammed for year on high fees but maintain to see if they will ever change. NADA same ol' company with terrible customer service that can't do anything. They said they can't see the services they charged me. Are you kidding me? Then when they charged the service fee, they won't talk to the host for us for a full refund. I have to awkwardly contact the host for it. I will never do business with VRBO, save yourself a few hundred dollars and time. It takes 4 weeks to get your refund!!!!

I am a host with VRBO and they will not return my guests money for a canceled COVID19 reservation. Instead of giving the money to the guest they sent the money to me and refuse to reverse the charges. I have gone around and around for 5 months comes July 3, 2020. Then they send me an email telling me they are doing a charge back to the guest. When I told them they were wrong they put me on hold and never came back. Every time I try and call I can no longer get through and am put on hold for hours. This company needs a reality check of how to run a A++ business. You are ruining my reputation as A++ host.

This company has horrible customer service and on top of that, they do not disclose that you are actually booking your rental through "an external book" aka third party agency. So when you believe you are protected by VRBO's policies, which would include cancellation policies, you learn in the event that you have to cancel, let's say because of a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. VRBO won't help you and will basically wash there hands of the situation. Even though, those third party agencies, are scammers they have listed on their website. What is the point of booking through VRBO if you do not protect your customers from scammers? And how is it that VRBO has gotten away with the fact that they do not filter the rental properties listed on their site? They're okay with allowing scammers to be on there listings. As far as I am concerned VRBO is just as much of a scammer as the rest of them. Shame on you VRBO. No wonder you're not accredited with the Revdex.com.

Absolutely the worst, most inconsistent customer service out there. We cancelled a stay 3.5 months ago and are still awaiting the roughly $50 in taxes that weren't initially refunded. We had to get ahold of corporate to even get the issue escalated and are still awaiting resolution. Their entire company, up to Jeff Hurst and John Kim on their corporate level are a disgrace. Their parent company Home Away had been disbanded for poor customer service, and it’s time Vrbo goes as well. Try again with a more diverse and responsive corporate team.

VRBO will not require our host to refund us due to covid like Airbnb has done. Not happy, don't agree, but here is where it is considered FRAUD and DISGUSTING ..... They haven't refunded me my cleaning fee or refundable security deposit either. YOU CAN'T DIRTY OR BREAK ANYTHING IF YOU DIDN'T EVEN SHOW UP ! I have spent hours on the phone with VRBO and dozens of e-mails to the property owner over the last 12+ weeks. VRBO will gladly take your service fee, but when it comes to helping against a fraudulent host... they put you on hold for hours, give you a case #, tell you to call back, over & over again. They just drag you on for weeks hoping to weaken you so you just forget about it & stop calling I guess. Never again
