They will csncel your trip amd wont tell you if you try to rebook they wqmt to reccharge all the fees and is just a nightmare try calling them

I have rented with vrbo many times in the past with satisfactory outcomes. Now however they are equating the Covid pandemic to " an act of god" like a hurricane or earthquake and refusing to refund my down payment. Although I cancelled my reservation well within the time period to receive the 100% refund promised in their website they are refusing my refund. They say it is up to the property manager however, he is not answering my calls or emails. I guess I am out $1,500.
I always thought that if the property is advertised on their website they would have the final say on refunds. Buyer beware!
I will never rent from them again.

As soon as I paid the owner is telling me to cancel...even though the owner's policy is no refunds!
I spent 4 hours on hold and was "disconnected" upon 4 times. My "refund" is "pending"... but "because of the covid" I might have to wait "2-4 weeks". Scam?

Customer support has hung up on me 5 different times total, 3 times over the phone as well as 2 times over internet chat support. I have invested 5 hours of my time waiting on hold for their support team to just hang up on me in the end and not provide any resolution.

I wasn't mad and I wasn't demeaning towards any of the call center people. I was just asking questions and trying to get answers and trying to escalate to management.

The situation I am in is -

I booked a home through VRBO to stay in for several days. The property manager CANCELLED our reservation 2 weeks before our travel date and refuses to give us our money back. Again, We didn't cancel the reservation, the property manager did and they are refusing to refund us. They will "allow" us to rebook their property in the future, but no refunds. VRBO/HomeAway will not refund us either and are telling us to go through the property manager for a refund. I haven't been able to get any support from them on this as their policy is to just hang up on customers counting on the fact that they won't call back and go through the hour long process to get a support person on the phone and if you do go through it all again, they just hang up on you anyways.

I am a host and have done so for 7 years on Airbnb. Airbnb isn’t perfect but VRBO is horrific! They don’t help hosts with damage unless you have the guest buy damage insurance which they never clearly spell out anywhere When signing up for the listing. They let the renter leave a written review and the host only gets to leave a star rating for the guests and gets to say nothing. They don’t help in resolving any conflict. My renters had a party clearly out lined many times in my ad as not allowed. They also did major damage to my home and when I called VRBO they said sorry no protection and don’t offer to speak to the guest. I wrote a rebuttal to their review since I am certain I was marked down On my review since I called them on their damage and the large party in violation of my rules. The rebuttal is not shown. VRBO might as well be an ad in the paper because they collect their money and offer nothing to the Host. I will be taking my listing off because they are horrible and don’t seem to care. I can only hope all hosts finally get fed up and take their ads down leaving them out of business...Like I said Airbnb isn’t perfect but hands down a 100 percent better than VRBO.

I wanted to share my experience with Evolve Travel and Home Away. My family along with 3 other families booked a home that slept 15 ppl in Jan 2020 booked a 4 night stay for middle of June 2020. We all scheduled time off work, coordinated schedules, bought food, and boarded our animals for this trip. It was an 8 hour drive with young babies from Oklahoma to San Leon, Texas. We received confirmation of our booking the Sunday before our trip. Tuesday evening at 5:00 I received a voicemail stating my booking was cancelled with no explanation. I honestly thought it was a scam. After receiving emails it was in fact canceled, I immediately got on the phone with my POC when staying in the home since we had received the address and everything by this point. The home owner proceeds to tell me she canceled the reservation with evolve travel weeks ago due to having to move back into the home. However, evolve travel never cancelled my reservation. Until 12hours before leaving town for the trip. Needless to say we were on hold for hours, transfer after transfer trying to speak to someone who would help us figure out what to do. We needed a place to stay that slept 15ppl. Literally on the road to Texas with no where to stay because we couldn’t get ahold of an agent to find us a replacement home. Evolve travel is a joke and I would never recommend them to anyone after the experience and stress they put myself, family and friends through. They essentially ruined our vacation as we had to scramble and find a hotel. Also one that had a kitchen because we had already bought all our food for a 4 day stay. I will never book with evolve travel again. It’s a shame because we did end up driving by the house we should have stayed in and it would’ve been absolutely perfect and fit our families needs and desires as far as location. Evolve travel needs to really look into who they’ve hired for customer service and actually take into consideration what they do to ppl when they cancel 12hrs before the reservation started with no backup plan or resolution to flat out canceling a booking. We know there were replacement houses available as we were not bound to San Leon, we just wanted somewhere within 30min of a beach. What they should’ve done is put us in a replacement regardless of the cost because it was their fault for not canceling when they should’ve, but instead they left us high and dry. Evolve Travel/Home Away/VRBO....absolutely horrendous. Never ever ever again.

After booking a house in the Santa Cruz area with VRBO, they turned the rental over to a company called VACASA. VRBO & VACASA both advertise 100% refund if you cancel 30 days before your stay. But if you actually need to cancel you will find that they will only let you cancel IF you agree to "credit" for a trip in the future. They WILL NOT GIVE YOU YOUR MONEY BACK!!! Only credit. If you don't want credit the website says; "call this number". I called and waited on hold for 1 hour. Then I called again and waited on hold for 3 hours. Then I realized (I'm a little slow) they are not going to answer the phone. They are not going to allow me to cancel. I tried to go back to VRBO and they said it is up to VACASA. I spoke to a woman at VRBO, she said she would try to help me, then she just stopped talking to me! I could hear voices in the background of the call!

It is a scam. Look at all the fees they charge; "Owner's Fee" etc. These fees jack up the daily price of the unit. The only way to get out of the agreement is to cancel payment through your cred card.

I'm a host and vrbo has not paid me even though the guests have come and gone. I will be canceling future reservations and dropping vrbo. This company could file bankruptcy and keep my money. I owe my cleaners and have bills to pay. My guests paid months ago in advance and VRBO/Homeaway is up to something nefarious. DO NOT HOST WITH THEM.

6-10-20 The tenants that are staying at a Vrbo in Pinetop, AZ (property #***) took down the road closed barrier and drove over the fresh asphalt that was just put down a couple hours previously. They put tire track in the fresh asphalt. I live full time in this neighborhood and don't appreciate this kind of rental activity.

VRBO/Homestay is the absolute worst home/vacation rental site that I have ever used. After deciding to try a different platform for my stay in Montreal and thinking I had found a nice place to reside in for a week, we had a horrible case of false advertisement (flickering lights, broken outlets, holes in the walls, dirty kitchen floors, soap pump didn't even work, etc). It was so bad, we didn't even spend more than 24 hours there! We immediately booked a home through AirBnB and contacted VRBO while we were still in the crap room. They would not give me a refund on the remaining nights or even a percentage of a refund. Of course I went through all the necessary steps and was very cooperative throughout the entire process. I tried to messaging the host first, who did not even try to understand or observe my evidence. He told me I was exaggerating and that the issues were minor.. If my fiance is trying to study and the lights are flickering and the outlet is not working to charge his laptop, that is is NOT a minor problem, that is a MAJOR INCONVENIENCE.
When I called VRBO immediately after not being able to reach the host over the phone to come to a resolution, the woman on the phone sounded very rude, dismissive, and condescending. She told me I had to work it out with the homeowner.. When I told her that I already tried that, she seemed to get even more annoyed and asked me to send her whatever information I had along with proof. I did that. I sent photos and video of everything wrong with the room and they did NOTHING. They didn't even respond to me. I called them again and they informed me that they had denied my claim. This company is money hungry and does not care about it's customers. That is the first and last time I will be using their "service". AirBnB is the only way to go and I'm very upset that I decided to try something new when AirBnB had never failed me before. I have never had any issues with false advertisement or rude hosts with them.
