Walden University, LLC Reviews (264)

I am rejecting this response because: I contacted the Brusar office and requested proof that funds were returned on my behalf. Since this request, I haven’t received anything from the school brusar’s office nor any staff in the school. I contacted the lender and was advised to take this up with this school. I’m wondering how was over $2000 returned when the School classes are way more than $2000 not to mention the fees that were taking from the aid tgat I was receiving on behalf of Walden. So again I am requesting proof of all aid returned on my behalf.

issues. The student has expressed concerns relating to a change in policy with regard to textbooks and course materials.  Due to regulatory changes instituted by the U.S. Department of Education, Walden will no longer be including textbooks in the cost of tuition and students now must purchase textbooks independently.  To minimize the financial impact of this change, Walden also implemented a reduction in tuition.  The university announced this change to its students on March 24, 2016.  We regret that the change in Walden’s textbook and tuition policies impacted this student.  The university has been in touch with the student and has resolved the issue to her satisfaction.

Walden University takes student concerns seriously and uses its best efforts to address student issues. The student has expressed concerns regarding his progress in completing his doctoral study in the DBA Program. The doctoral study process can be lengthy and difficult. The process requires the...

student to perform significant scholarly research independently, and to write a comprehensive doctoral study based on that scholarly research. In addition, the doctoral study process for a student is an academic issue most appropriately addressed through the academic review procedures established by the University. Walden can say that this student’s allegation that Walden was not willing to help him move forward as a student is not accurate. He spoke with Academic Advisors on multiple occasions and was provided with the information he requested, including assistance in making changes to his committee. All changes to this student’s committee were initiated by him. In addition, he was provided with the contact information for the DBA Program Director by his Academic Advisor thus providing another avenue to address his concerns.
Students at Walden also have access to numerous internal grievance and appeal processes, but the student has not used any of these internal processes to address his concerns. We recommend that he contact Academic Advising at ###-###-#### to determine the best path forward to address his concerns.
Finally, the student has the option to contact Robert [redacted], University Ombudsperson. Mr. [redacted] can direct him to the proper resources within the University and escalate any issues that need to be addressed to the appropriate departments within the University. Mr. [redacted] can be reached at ###-###-#### or robert.[redacted]@waldenu.edu.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/03/03) */
The student makes numerous allegations of fraud concerning the program he attended at Walden University from the 2007 Winter term to the 2008 Summer term. In total, he enrolled in 3 classes and attended one residency, but he withdrew prior to...

completing his third class which resulted in funds having to be returned to the federal government, which is known as Return to Title IV or R2T4. If a student does not attend greater than 60% of their class, then they do not earn 100% of their federal financial aid, and a proportionate amount of monies will be returned to the federal government based on the amount of time that the student actually attended class. He withdrew from Walden effective July 1, 2008, and thus was billed for a percentage of the time he attended.
He was informed that he was beyond the time to seek a tuition refund which ended on June 23, 2008, but given instructions on how to proceed, if he desired to petition for a waiver. The student never submitted anything. At no time did Walden commit fraud against the student in his enrollment, programs, financial aid, or billing. The student attended Walden courses and paid for those courses using federal financial aid. Of the federal financial aid loans that he took out, he received refunds back for his personal use totaling $4081, and Walden refunded him in full for his 6-day Ph.D. Summer Session residency in Minneapolis, MN. When the student withdrew from Walden and transferred to another institution of higher learning, his status as an actively enrolled student likely resulted in an automatic deferment of payment on the student loan debt he incurred. The student must repay those federal student loans to his lender, not Walden, and he should contact his lender directly to discuss his loans.
