Mr. [redacted]-
Thank you for contacting Weather Tight in regards to your recent
experience. I apologize that it was not a positive one, and I hope I can
resolve it to your satisfaction.
I looked into the challenge you described and it looks like there
was a...

miscommunication on our end that caused the delay in getting your check
back to you. For our cancellation process, we do normally ask that we stop back
out to homeowners homes to personally delivery their deposits and return any
paperwork to them that they would like on file and have for their own records.
We also like to personally find out why you have decided to cancel your
contract-so we can better improve as a company if it was related to product or
pricing challenges. In your case, since you mentioned you lived further away
than our West Allis location, and didn’t care to have any other documents for
your records, it is absolutely fine for us to mail back your check. I apologize
that this was not relayed to you in that manner. In the course of our employee
speaking with you, and passing off your file to get your deposit back, the file
was placed in the wrong folder. We have located your file, along with the
deposit, and that is in the mail today. It was an honest error on our end, and
just a misplacement of a file into the wrong folder.
While this by no means is meant to make excuses for your poor
experience with Weather Tight, I hope you understand that we were by no means
trying to withhold your deposit or cause any headaches to you. I will update
all our files accurately on your account-as well as use this as a training
opportunity for all employees involved. If you have any further questions or
concerns, please feel free to contact me directly.

Review: Weather Tight installed siding improperly causing water to enter basement walls, causing a mold issue which I was unaware of. Health issues caused me to look further into the cause. EverDry Waterproofing found water in the walls creating mold. Gutters were installed with siding. Every gutter leaks at ends. Downspouts were installed seam out, the proper way is seam in to not be visible. Unfortunately, I was working when this mess occurred. Called in a complaint and someone came out and tried to rectify the situation, to no avail. Called again and was told there was an $80 trip charge to fix their mistakes. What? Gave up and now live with leaky gutters, moldy basement, and poorly installed windows. Very disappointed in their work and tell everyone to look elsewhere.Desired Settlement: Fix everything but I'm afraid to let them touch anything. Just want other people to know how inferior their workmanship is.

Response:

This customer purchased siding, windows and gutters from us in 2005. At the time of his contract, the following language governed the coverage of labor warranties:

Their product is very well built and they stand by their guarantee. We have saved money by installing new triple glaze windows in our home and would recommend them to any one else.

Great service and great product! Everyone with whom I worked was courteous, prompt, knowledge, and professional. If I have a need in the future for any product they install, I will DEFINITELY call on them!!

Review: WEATHER TIGHT, WEATHER TIGHT, WEATHER TIGHT, tsk, tsk, tsk!! My RESTORATIONS WINDOW SYSTEM installed by WEATHER TIGHT is ANYTHING BUT WEATHER TIGHT. Because of my hiring of WEATHER TIGHT to install my RESTORATIONS windows, I have now encountered one of the worst home improvement experiences of my life. CONSUMERS BEWARE OF WEATHER TIGHT CORP. AND RESTORATIONS WINDOW SYSTEMS.

In 2010 I had WEATHER TIGHT CORP., [redacted] install windows made by RESTORATIONS WINDOWS, [redacted]. I have been experiencing problems with my RESTORATIONS windows and WEATHER TIGHT CORP. ever since. I had 3 double hung, 1 – 25/50/25 family room window and 2 patio doors installed. Not long after I contacted WEATHER TIGHT CORP. because I noticed air coming in between the window frames, around the locks, around the entire window, through the weep holes. These freaking RESTORATIONS WINDOWS installed by WEATHER TIGHT CORP. were like swiss cheese. I had spent extra money on the triple glazed units (three panes of glass) to make sure I had additional insulation in my RESTORATIONS WINDOWS. Fat lot of good that does me when EVERYTHING else about the windows leak air. Oh yeah, and they seem to fog up for no apparent reason also.

I had people from WEATHER TIGHT CORP. come out and look at these windows approximately a dozen times, most of the time having to take off of work to meet them. The following are some of the problems that the service people from WEATHER TIGHT CORP. said was happening with my RESTORATIONS WINDOWS:

Window panes wrong size

Window panes reversed in frames

Window panes upside down

Window Panes sagging

Hollow channels in frames leaking air

Air seepage through window locks

Air seepage through weep holes

Windows not interlocking

No insulation around window

These are problems diagnosed BY WEATHER TIGHT CORP. in regards to their own installations of RESTORATIONS WINDOWS.

Oh sure WEATHER TIGHT CORP. and RESTORATIONS WINDOWS have all kinds of warranty propaganda they show you when you are buying the product, all worthless when you need it.

Bottom line, after 4 years of chasing WEATHER TIGHT CORP. to fix my RESTORATIONS WINDOWS so they don’t leak air and fog up I have $13,000.00 of windows that leak and fog substantially. WEATHER TIGHT CORP. (even though I have ALWAYS been polite and professional with them) has finally told me that they can do no more. This even after one of their service guys said he would return to do additional insulation on the exterior (they say they have no record of that). Well if WEATHER TIGHT CORP. can do no more to make these RESTORATIONS WINDOWS work correctly, then I want my money back.

If you can read this and still consider WEATHER TIGHT CORP. or RESTORATIONS WINDOWS for your project, then I wish you good luck…. You’re gonna need it.

[redacted]Desired Settlement: Since Weather Tight can not make my windows right after 4 years. I want my money back.

Response:

In 2010 Weather Tight installed 4 window and 2 patio doors in my home. Since then they have visited my home in excess of 12 times to correct issues with the windows, each tie causing me to take off of work and lose a substantial amount of income. Weather Tight has replaced my family room patio door 4 times and my bedroom patio door 3 times because of air infiltration through my new windows. These windows have never performed correctly and Weather Tight has shown no ability to correct the situation. Now Weather Tight wants to replace the windows yet another time saying it will fix the problem that it didn't fix with the previous 7 replacements. This will cause me to take another day off of work while they take another wild stab in the dark at fixing this situation. I have given Weather Tight 2 "last chances" to fix this situation, both times they promised me would be the last time they would need to correct the situation. Weather Tight has proven over the past 5 years that they are incapable of fixing the air infiltration problems. The amount of air coming through the windows is so bad that it blows out candles which I have videos of and that Weather Tight has seen. 5 years chasing this company proves that I have an incredible amount of patience and tolerance. Well... no more.

We've just had ALL of our windows & doors replaced by Weather Tight. With only some minor set backs (which were handled professionally & within a reasonable time), the wife, myself, & our neighbors can't believe the transformation of our house. It went from "plain Jane" to a "raving" BEAUTY! The teams that did the work were very courteous, considerate, &'professional! In today's economy, we chose Weather Tight over the competition because of their quality, warranty, and reputation. Believe me, they did NOT cut corners. In fact they did things to improve our home we never even thought about. I can't praise them enough! Thank you, Weather Tight!

We ended up going with Weather Tight after their going through their free quote process. We had two servicemen who came out to the house to put in our new windows who were very nice, they laid out large clothes on our floors to ensure minimal dirt. They left and we immediately noticed flaws in the products they installed, specifically holes in the screens, deep gashes in the window frame and locking mechanisms. One window frame was bowed in towards the glass. We contacted them by the end of the day (of receiving our new windows) and it took three weeks of negotiations to bring them back out to the house. The service man who came, also very nice, said this was not uncommon. I found it hard to believe that a company as reputable as Weather Tight would have a business plan that would allow for a service call for newly installed windows on a regular basis. We were not impressed with the touch-and-go communication, the product that was poorly installed or poorly manufactured. We do not have as much faith as we hoped (especially for the price we are paying) that the actual product is as highly rated based on the installation result - I would have expected a gleaming product, not one with multiple flaws. The final "straw" was that the email we submitted to them to initiate our loan for our windows was entered wrong so initiating our payments was also delayed. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. We have many more windows that will need to be replaced and despite the higher prices, I think we would have been willing to justify going with this company again if we had had a positive first experience.

The crew from Weather Tight did a fantastic job installing my new doors. I have a full log home, so it was not the easiest installation. Everything fits properly, the doors work perfectly and what a difference in the look from the old ones!

Review: In December 2012 we sign up with WeatherTight to install 3 set of windows in the front of are house. We ordered vinyl windows with wood pattern and wood box for interior. [redacted] (sale rep) told us that the windows were ding and scratch proof. They came out to measure the windows twice. When installing the windows the windows were even with the sliding and I did not like. They told me that they screwed up on the installment of the windows. Order the next set of windows in July 2013 and when installing the windows the windows were sticking out 1 inch from the sliding. The trim on the outside of the window was cut straight for the front windows and trim on the side of the house was cut at an angle. In 2014 and 2015 my mother notice cold draft coming from the windows. They came out in February to replace the black rubber part on the bottom of the window and I notice that the laminate was peeling and chipping off the windows. I notice that 55% of the front windows were peeling and chipping from the other windows. [redacted] told us that if we do not like the touch up paint on the windows that they would replace the frame. [redacted] came out and told us that the windows would take about 2 to 3 weeks to come in. The windows took 4 months to come in because they rejected the windows a few times. After the windows were installed I noticed more chipping and cuts on the frame. [redacted] informed us the installer had cut the frame with a razor blade which caused the chipping. Two of the windows were measured wrong and had to be reordered. The windows finally arrived in September and had to be sent back due to flaws. It took over two months for the replacement windows to arrive. [redacted]) informed us that the chipping and peeling was from natural ware and tear. The next installer told us that the cuts on the frame was caused by burrs on the window and the chipping of the laminate was from the heat. Tod informed us that we were causing the damage to the windows with a knife and ripping the laminate off.Desired Settlement: To replace all the windows.

Tight disagrees with much of the customer's account and we also believe that

other comments require deeper clarification. The customer is a repeat

customer of ours. The majority of his issues have been addressed as valid

warranty claims that we have agreed to fix at no cost. In some cases,

like the draftiness coming through the windows, we even went above and beyond

warranty expectations as he was using a leaf blower to prove the

draftiness. This is beyond the performance expectations of the window,

but we agreed to add additional weather stripping anyway. The issue that

has led to this complaint is the peeling/chipping/gouging of the wood grain

finish. We have

had multiple members of our staff, including our [redacted], out to investigate

this issue on numerous occasions. The damage to the finish is either

caused by misuse or abuse, either of which are grounds to void the

warranty. It is clear that this damage is not from the manufacturer nor

the installation. Beyond that, the scope of damage does not correspond

with potential damage from normal usage. The customer’s

sales representative, [redacted], is also our sales manager and trains our

sales reps on how to discuss the product. Our warranty does cover damage

to the finish, but again, not damage from misuse or abuse. During his

first inspection, the sales manager did speculate that an installer may have cut the frame

with a razor due to the obviousness of the damage, however, we have

watched as this obvious damage to the finish has progressively gotten worse

between each of our visits out to this home. Weather Tight’s [redacted],

[redacted], has investigated this damage himself and never implied that it was

“natural wear and tear”. He told this customer that the damage seen on

the interior of his windows is abnormal and was being caused by abuse. Aside

from this damage to the window finish, we have and will continue to service any

valid warranty claims. We currently are in the process of receiving some

new sashes and a new window to solve some valid problems this customer was

experiencing. At Weather Tight, we pride ourselves on exceptional service

and we stand behind our warranties. Unfortunately, the damage to this

customer’s finish is not covered. If the customer wants the damaged

finish replaced, he will need to pay retail price for materials and labor to have

this completed.

We sent a Weather Tight representative and a manufacturing representative out to this customer's home last night to further inspect the issues. They will be going back out to the home on 12/12 during the day to further inspect with more daylight.

Called Saturday to get a quote on a simple project to look at our mud room and replace door and blow insulation into outside walls as it gets very cold.

Set up a visit at 2pm. Was asked who decision makers are. Told them it's me and my wife. Told him she was not around and I would handle decision. He was rude and insulting, saying she HAD to be there. Tried to explain 4-5 times that it was a simple project I could handle. All of a sudden 2 pm was not available as they were held for married couples. Sounds like discrimination to me.

He would not listen and went on and on with other dates and if my wife would be around.

Great way to treat a potential customer. This guy was creepy and I have never been treated like that. He was insulting my intelligence and lost business for your company. I will make sure to tell people what a terrible experience this was. Very unprofessional. Who is he to tell me who needs to decide what???? Can't believe I was treated this way and don't understand his logic.

Terrible experience. This guy should be fired!!!!

Siding, trim, gutter & downspout job. Work was complete except for one minor trim issue, resolved within two days. Responsive & respectful contractor. Happy with the outcome & good value.

I'm not sure what it will take to get these people to stop calling me long after I've told them that we've made our decision and we're not going with them for our patio door project. I've emailed the person who gave us the quote 2 times after receiving phone daily from their office staff and have told him as such, the 2nd time telling him If he didn't tell their staff to stop calling that I would file a complaint. Obviously, they either don't care or one arm doesn't know what the other one is doing. I received another phone call today. So here I am. I shouldn't have to block a phone # for any reason, but here I am. A little stalkerish Weather Tight. No means NO!

Review: I reached out to this company in August to get a quote on service. Due to scheduling, I was unable to meet with them. I have received a phone call from them EVERY DAY since then. I have asked numerous times to be removed and to no avail. I have no intent on ever doing business with this company.Desired Settlement: To stop harassing me every day. I have ABSOLUTELY no intent to ever use this business and will be sure to share my experience with anyone and everyone that I can.

Mr. [redacted]-

Never again!! 8 weeks behind schedule ( october to end of december is a large difference in terms of weather) Didn't weatherproof openings in siding for over a week. Snow and rain inside my walls. After 8 days they NAILED tyvek to my exterior FINISH TRIM to weatherproof one opening. 3 day install... 2 weeks and counting. Only tented off one area while working in 15 degree weather and even that only lasted for a portion of the install. Rarely even closed doors to rooms working in. Destroyed existing jamb in pocket window install. Cracked thin brick veneer while destroying existing jamb. Installed window with cracked frame. Could see daylight through jambs that were supposedly insulated. Mismeasured (2) picture windows... Didnt butt up to existing stops... Installed anyways. Mismeasured another picture window twice ( they dispute this because I dont have my conversation with the final measure guy on tape). 3 different crews 3 different days. Crews almost never on time; 1-2 hours past grace period common.. quality of work is terrible. Installation of full replacement windows would not pass inspection if this was permitted new construction work. Weathertight basically stuck a pocket windows in rough openings. Not the right jamb depth, No water/ moisture/ vapor barrier, no nailing fin. Interior finish work is terrible. Aluminum trim work terrible... Crooked, pitched toward window, random nails, dents, didnt tool caulk joints on second floor (didnt think id look). Didn't dry exterior trim before caulking so the caulk isn't adhering. Didnt clean any of the " completed " windows when finished. Still have 3 screens laying in my garage, one the installers broke and fixed poorly and 2 more that were never installed..? The installers are clueless. They have done far more harm than good. I am meeting with a "manager" after jan 3. We will see how that goes. My vote is to hire another company to remove everything they have done and request a refund. The previous homeowner had weathertight install windows a few years ago and they look good, which is why I went with them. The craftsmanship of the current work is no where close. Luckily I took a lot of pictures. The windows themselves are nice. I would recommend restorations windows but never weathertight. I will file an official complaint if the manager and I cannot reach an agreement. They have tried to remedy some of the cosmetic issues and have not succeeded. I wish I had never contacted weathertight.

I recently had new windows doors and a roof installed by this company. Not a small job by any means. The windows and door jobs were very professionally done, however, the roof install and the crew that did it was a joke. It started with a company that was obviously contracted to do the job. They showed up with their girlfriends or wives on site and we're messing around with them for the two days they were here running around the yard and joking with them. They threw new rafter vents in the roof which were not properly installed but instead just layed on top of the insulation (and are now leaking back onto my ceiling in numerous places). The wrapper they tore off the shingles was carelessly tossed off the roof and left to blow down the street into my neighbors yards and bushes along with their McDonald's wrappers. Finally, what bothered me the most was them being on site for two days and not once did a representative from weathertight stop by or even bother to call to check on their progress or quality.

Weather Tight came and put in a bay window. They were professional and friendly from the person that came4 to go over the window to the workers that came to put the window in. They made sure they did not track in and they cleaned up after the window was in. We were happy with our window and they way they handled everything.

We replaced all of our house windows with Weather Tight.
They did a great job and were very skilled in their installation. We are very pleased with the new look of
our home. Wish we would have done this sooner.

Our new door has a mark on it. The installation has to be fixed and it took several calls to get any action.
