Webuyanycar.com Reviews (37)

We just sold our 2001 S[redacted] to WeBuyAnyCar. The process was easy, simple to understand their pricing and fair. I never write reviews but felt compelled to share based on our great experience. I can't say enough good things about and J[redacted] E[redacted]s in F[redacted], MD. He was very professional and efficient. Thank you for a great alternative to C[redacted] (whom I cannot say enough bad things about) for selling my car!!

Dear [redacted],
I am sorry that you were not happy with the amount of money we could give you for your car. We can only give you an accurate value for your car if you disclose all of the issues in our reconditioning wizard online. You didn't disclose anything at all about the...

condition of your car.
We pride ourselves in being transparent and thus we called you before you spent your time driving to our location, so that we could make sure we knew exactly what was wrong with your car, since you didn't disclose anything. After getting the full details, we were transparent on the amount we could pay and explained the fees to you. You will also note that every single page of our website discloses our policies and fees and how we can only give you an accurate value if you tell us about the condition of your car.
As such, we are already doing what you are suggesting as a resolution.
Kind regards,
Vince A[redacted]

What a Fraud!!! These people offered me $50 for my car --- I told them no thank you and began to leave --- The they offered me 400 --- I thanked them again and left with my car ---- Then 20min later they called and offered me $800 I then turned around and sold the car --- 5 days later the check was uncashable ---- There was no explanation at all! They did call me a day or so later and thaned me for doing business with them, What a fraud -- What a sleazy way to do business --- I wasted a time and energy with these people ---- STAY AWAY -- STAY AWAY!!!!!
YOU WOULD DO BETTER DONATING YOUR CAR TO THE NEEDY!
Now I have to waste another day dealing with getting my car back --- And dealing with the hassle of these sleazy people with their deceptive satanic practices.
STAY AWAY!!!!!!

I am rejecting this response because:
If that essage wasnt so specific i'd believe my message wasnt read. I definitely did a evaluation on another device an email. My response to you denying previous instances of the same false advertisement and petty offers are caught me at the front page of filing a complaint with the Revdex.com you have 10. Ive never even done business with anyone that has that many which explains the response givin. Regardless the response seems like the same tailored reponse Mitch gave at the place. I remembered his name cuz I sent someone else up there to see if they would under value their car too. My one car accident was clearly defined on the evaluation denial of that makes no sense I screen shot my evaluation it includes the damage I spke to 2 people on the phone an my first evaluation was onlky 500 difference 4000 went to 3500. But you would have to deny that to explain a 3500 dollar added deduction and telling me the car I drove there FROM [redacted] by the way Revdex.com has clear information of when I picked it up. up which is the same day I drove to you an I was offered 50$ now to add insult to ridicule your calling me a liar and I only met a Mitch. I told Mitch with the other whitnesses my mom an boyfriend we all came from [redacted] an called back to [redacted] an they said I only needed  a radiator an the rest was less. I just ggot a brand new braking system at [redacted] I put 2500 into. No ones aggreeing with the offers givin their aggreeing with the scam an me wasting my time even trusting to take my car to your company.

Dear...

[redacted],
I am writing in response to [redacted]’s complaint dated
2/11/15.  [redacted] booked an appointment
on 2/7/15 at 12:48pm for the same day.
The appointment was booked for a 1998 [redacted] with 32,864 miles.  Our normal process is to make a confirmation
call to the customer immediately after booking the appointment to verify the
details of the vehicle and the process for selling their car to
webuyanycar.com.  In following the process,
we reached out to [redacted] at 12:55pm and 1:47pm without an answer or return
call. In addition our Pricing and Analytics team reviews all of the
appointments in our pipeline to ensure the most accurate price for every
vehicle.  Any time that a change in
price must be made on a car, whether it be up or down, it is our goal to notify the
customer immediately.  Because
this appointment was booked the same day and without being able to speak with
[redacted], we were unable to get the specific VIN for his vehicle, in addition to
letting him know of the change in price due to the rare nature of his car (i.e. 17 year old car with only 32,864 miles).
Our website clearly states that "valuations are provided as
an estimate for information purposes only and do not constitute an offer from
the webuyanycar.com car buying service to purchase any vehicle.  Valuations are based on the limited
information we collect form you online and market information about your
vehicle (which, for some makes, models and years, can be limited).  As a result, the valuation may be adjusted at
the webuyanycar.com car buying service’s discretion at any time, including
prior to or during our in-branch inspection of the vehicle.  At webuyanycar.com we pride ourselves in our
customer service and a transparent process.
We buy thousands of cars each week and
it is our goal to completely satisfy each customer, by offering a fast, safe
and fair way to sell their vehicles.  At
no time is a customer under any obligation to sell his or her vehicle."
We apologize for
any inconvenience that this has caused [redacted] and wish him the best of luck in
selling his vehicle.
With kind
regards,

To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing in response to [redacted]’s complaint dated 7/8/2014.  [redacted] claims that he gave accurate
information concerning his 2008 [redacted] Work Truck and would like us
to make a billing adjustment.  Prior to
[redacted]’s appointment we attempted to contact him to get his Vehicle
Identification Number in order to take a closer look at his valuation.  The vehicle and trim with options, in
addition to the rare mileage, was uncommon so we wanted to make sure that we
had the most accurate price for this vehicle before [redacted] came to the
branch.  Unfortunately, [redacted] did
not call us back with the VIN before showing up to his appointment the
following day.  Once [redacted] showed
up we were able to obtain the VIN and get his vehicle properly priced through
our pricing and remarketing teams.  As it
turns out [redacted] not only entered in the wrong year but also the wrong
trim level.  This made the truck go from
an SLT trim to an SL.  In this situation,
we had to drop the price of the vehicle due to its rare nature and lack of
significant data.  In the unique case
that we have a vehicle with little to no data to accurately price we do
everything in our power to let the customer know before arriving for their
appointment.
Our website clearly states that valuations are provided as
an estimate for information purposes only and do not constitute an offer from

that he marks this complaint as resolved.

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: webuyanycar is a bait and switch company. My letter proves it and the Revdex.com needs to take a side of either I am wrong or they are. If a company web site offers $17,300.00 for a vehicle and when you go to sell your car you get an offer of $11,500.00, then that is bait and switch. The company says the matter is closed. I agree. Webuyanycar is a bait and switch company that should loose its Revdex.com rating.

First, we are sorry that you lost your father. I can only imagine how difficult this must be. We are sorry that there was a miscommunication.  The sale of a deceased person's vehicle is slightly complex because of the paperwork required by regulations. At your request, we did...

reach out to you and then we missed your return phone call. We continued to reach out to you but haven't been able to reach you. I can imagine that you are really busy, so please feel free to reach out to me at any time.Best Regards,Vince A[redacted]VP-Regional Operations

Review: I used we buy any car website to get a quote for my car and after going thru there process they gave me a quote for 12,235 so I booked a appointment with a local branch. When I arrived the sales man told me there computer was wrong because the milage was so low on my vehicle that the highest possible price I could get was 11,200 and that is the price he would start at.( sounds like bate and switch ) I never heard of a vehicle that lost money because of its great milage.Just wonder how many other people have had same experience and got taken for possible thousands of dollars.Desired Settlement: I would like to see we buy any car honor what they quote you and not try to pull a bait and switch

Dear [redacted],

I am writing in response to [redacted]'s complaint dated 9/21/13. **. [redacted] booked an appointment on 9/20/13 at 9:06pm for the first available time slot the next day at 10am (our opening hour). The appointment was booked for a 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac with 31,130 miles. Our normal process is to make a confirmation call to the customer immediately after booking the appointment to verify the details of the vehicle and the process for selling their car to webuyanycar.com. In addition our Pricing and Analytics team reviews all of the appointments in our pipeline to ensure the most accurate price for every vehicle. During that review we have vehicles that both go up and down in price depending on certain criteria and market conditions. Anytime a change in price is made on a car, whether it be up or down, it is our goal to notify the customer as soon as possible, and prior to the customer coming to our branch in order to not inconvenience them. Because this appointment was booked after hours for the first appointment the next day we were unable to contact **. [redacted] before his appointment time to notify him that his vehicle went down in price. This is due to the fact that our automated pricing model isn't perfect when it comes to older cars with very low miles given that there are very few data points for our model to compare it with.

Customer service and transparency are key to our process and our company. Unfortunately we did not have a cross check on the price of his vehicle before he arrived at our branch given the time between booking the appointment and his actual appointment.

Our website clearly states that "valuations are provided as an estimate for information purposes only and do not constitute an offer from the webuyanycar.com car buying service to purchase any vehicle.

I had a car that needed to be towed because it couldn't be driven more than 10 miles. I expressed concerns to a man who called me from webuyanycars.com that I would only get salvage price. He told me gives us a chance I'm sure we can beat salvage price.
The buyer for the company offered me salvage price. There was no room to negotiate. I had no choice but to sell my car to cover my towing costs. I can not recommend we buy any cars dot com to anyone! While I believe that they are a legitimate company and it may pay in newer vehicles, let the seller beware: They evaluate cars a lot different than their online evaluation.
I learned a very valuable lesson. Before you take your vehicle to webuyanycar.com do your due diligence. I know that I will never do any business with this company in the future. There car calculating price is very misleading!

Review: I got a quote for my car from webuyanycar website for $605. After inspecting the car, the car dealer offered $450 and I agreed with the offer. But after I transferred my title, the dealer shamelessly said that he only offered $150 for the car. Now I know why the online reputation of webuyanycar is of that a scam company. I should've checked the online reviews before I took my car to a sham business. I guess webuyanycar is counting on gullible people like me to continue its business.Desired Settlement: I would like webuyanycar to honor the offer of $450 for the vehicle.

Review: We sold our car to this place, that same day we get home and have to call and let them know that we left our [redacted] and [redacted] snapshot responders in the car. They weren't in obvious locations, so we told them where to find them and to either let us know so we could come get them, or to mail them in. Instead of checking that day, the following day they had sent the car of to be sold without getting them. I'm now getting stonewalled by the only employee there and upper management has not responded to any of my requests.Desired Settlement: I am asking for a refund that I'm being charged on the responders. It is $50 for the [redacted] and $50 for the [redacted] snapshot. These things are still in the car and all they have to do is go get them, they are being lazy.

Review: I wanted to sell a truck. I went to web site for we buy any car.com. I entered the info as best as I could, and got a quote of my vehicle being worth $16,800 dollars. I spoke to the manager Dana A[redacted] and set an appointment for today. When I went to the location and had my truck looked at by Dana. Dana then offered me $$11,500 for my truck. I told him that the web site offered me $16,800 and wanted to understand how such a huge price difference could occour. He then did a complete new price search with all of the current info that he had. This time, with all correct information and completed by the manager of the business, the web site quoted me $17,300 dollars. At this time Dana simply told me that you can not get an accurate quote from their web site, but he recommended that I take the $11,500 offer. This is simply a bait and switch offer. I drove 60 miles round trip to be told that you cannot believe their web site. This can not be legalDesired Settlement: If you can not get an accurate quote from the web site, even with the managers assistance, then company must pay an amount closer to quote; or stop using their own website. I should be paid for my wasted time and miles because company manager was aware that web site offered inaccurate price by almost $6000 from price offered.

Can you imagine getting a quote for a truck of $11,500 then drive 30 miles to pick up the vehicle, only to be told the price has went up to $17,300?

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:in the business response they cite the correct fact that I made several errors in entering the information. This is why I had the manager of webuyanycar, Dana A[redacted] do another evaluation while I was there. When Dana entered all the correct information, his value on the price of my truck was $17,300.00 Once again, this was the senior branch manager that came up with this quote-while I was in his office-after he had done a complete evaluation of my truck. Therefor the price should have been very close to a correct quote if their web site is even close to correct. Dana offered me $11,500.00 and told me I should accept his offer, and not have to drive home. This is clearly a bait and switch. A high offer to get the client to come to the office, then an offer of nearly six thousand less to buy the truck. When I told Dana that this was a very large difference in what was quoted and the price he offered, he said"You can not believe our web site" That is an exact quote of what the manager told me. If clients can not trust the web site, the web site should be updated. If low miles on my truck could throw off their quote-then, again, update your web site. To use a web site that quotes $5,800.00 difference on a $17,300.00 is simply bait and switch tactics. If webuyanycar wants to resolve this dispute, they should improve their offer to come closer to the price their web site , with the managers assistance, quoted to me. If they want to stay firm on their offer-then they need to admit they use bait and switch tactics to do business. I did not expect to get $17,300.00 for the truck. I did expect to get a fair offer based on the price that the company web site gave to me.

Dear [redacted],

I am writing in response to [redacted]. [redacted]'s complaint dated 7/14/2013. **. [redacted] claims that we gave him a guaranteed offer if and when he made certain fixes to his vehicle. Unfortunately we neither make guaranteed offers, nor do we hold a price for a specific amount of days. In addition, [redacted] didn't disclose that his vehicle had been in an accident and was labeled "Accident History" on a [redacted] report which can significantly devalue the vehicle. We discovered this while doing our due diligence.

Our website clearly states that valuations are provided as an estimate for information purposes only and do not constitute an offer from the webuyanycar.com car buying service to purchase any vehicle. Valuations are based on the limited information we collect form you online and market information about your vehicle (which, for some makes, models and years, can be limited). As a result, the valuation may be adjusted axtthewebuyanycar.com car buying service's discretion at any time, including prior to or during our in-branch inspection of the vehicle. We buy thousands of cars each week and it is our goal to completely satisfy each customer, by offering a fast, safe and fair way to sell their vehicles. At no time is a customer under any obligation to sell his or her vehicle.

Any repairs or fixes made to a car are at the sole discretion of the owner of the vehicle and would not get passed on to a "potential buyer" of the vehicle.

There is nothing further we can do for this customer at this time and I have attached a copy of the [redacted] that reports the accident history.

With kind regards,

Review: On the television, there is an advertisement-"We Buy Any Car.com". You go online and fill out the information required by them. It prints out the report and a valuation page that your car is valued at. Then it asks you to make an appointment for you to bring your car in to sell to them. I was honest on every request. One request was has the car been in an accident. I stated yes and explained in the box that the bumper was dented and could not be repaired and that a new one was put on my car and painted the appropriate color. My value according to the questions that I was asked including the accident came out at $7,100. I made an appointment and went to see the company on [redacted] MD [redacted] (###-###-####). He put into HIS COMPUTER the same answers that I had done at home and it came out with a valuation of $5,000. I told him that could not be right. You can not have the customer use one site on the computer and they use another site both with the same information and come up with two different valuation numbers. He began to give me excuses on my car (even though I was honest in answering them) since it was in an accident the value went down. I told him that I listed that on my question on my internet site at home and so did he on his list of questions and the valuation should not be the same. Then he told me that convertibles don't sell in the winter months. I replied that that is not the issue here, but getting two different valuations was the main point of discussion. He called his boss and came back with the same type of replies and said that $5,000 was all they could offer me even though I showed him the valuation sheet that I printed out at home.Desired Settlement: I want this company to honor it valuation of $7,100 that I got from the internet sight that I used at home. If they refuse this, I would settle for a media value of $6,500. I was honest in all that I answered and did and at least deserve this. I also want this complaint to reflect on their Revdex.com rating. I have read others complaints on this company on line and they are having the same things happen to them and are calling this a scam.

Review: Very deceptive and sleazy business practice. They buy used cars. They have an online site where you enter all the information concerning the car you'd like to sell and then they give you a price they are willing to pay, in my case $1100.I gave them accurate information concerning my vehicle, got the quote and took it to their business for transfer.Once there they told me that my car was worth $150 not $1100 but they could offer $300.When I refused their offer the salesperson made a quick call to his boss, to which I was not privy, and told me the could raise the offer to $400. Since it was a hassle to get someone to follow me over their for the return trip I took the $400.Essentially their web site is a ploy to get you to their business location where they can low ball the price.Desired Settlement: I would like them to give me the estimate that they presented on the web site as they advertised. Giving them the benefit of the doubt it seems they owe me $600

Dear [redacted],

[redacted] claims that he gave accurate information concerning his 1997 Subaru Legacy and should have been paid the full $1195 valuation that he received pyior to visiting our location. Unfortunately, **. [redacted] never entered any of the reconditioning needs of his vehicle into our system while getting his valuation. Once **. [redacted] arrived at our location, we did assessment of the vehicle (summary attached) accounting for the various reconditioning needs that totaled $1,114, The vehicle also hid structural damage that we accounted for, yet did not charge against during the assessment.

In addition to the assessment that was conducted by our Branch Manager, we also had an independent inspection performed before we sold the vehicle. The independent inspection of the vehicle shows that we were more than fair and accurate, in regards to our inspection, as the independent auditor showed a total reconditioning cost of $2,362 (Inspection attached).

Our website dearly states that valuations are provided as an estimate for information purposes only and do not constitute an offer from the webuyanycar.com car buying service to purchase any vehicle. It is sheer nonsense. This car was purchased in 1997 and had 125,000 miles on it. Do they expect it to be pristine? On the online form there is no place to show any reconditioning that might be needed, like the interior etc.. The web site shows you panels of the car to check off if they are damaged as was the right front fender. Yes it did have a number of small dings where the paint wasn't even broken in other areas. The person who evaluated the car even stated that they were insignificant since they have a dent removal service that doesn't require re-painting for those "insignificant" areas. They also didn't tell you that both summer and winter tires and wheels were included, one set of which had more than 50% of tread remaining.

Nor did they ask if the car had any repaired structural damage. Yes it once was involved in a front end fender bender but that was many years ago and the car has been running fine since then.

As far as the tail lights being cracked that was insignificant as well and I'm sure they're cost of repair that they quoted on their response was retail price for new lenses. Even if they did have to repair a lens there are plenty of used ones available for next to nothing.

The bottom line is their web site is extremely misleading. Nowhere, for instance, does it ask for the condition of the interior. Maybe if they bothered to refine their web site and give you more areas to check they could give you a more realistic quote instead of the bait and switch tactics they use. They don't do that so they can give you, apparently, an overvalued number so you will bring your car in and then beat you down with minutia. If all this minor minutia devalues the car that much at least structure the web site to reflect their concern with every minor blemish on a car that old and give you a better chance to know what they are really going to offer once you drive to their location.

Based on their online guidelines I didn't sell the car privately even though I had an $800 offer since their misleading quote was so much higher.

They are the epitome of sleazy used car salesmen which left me angered and my wife in tears.

Further research showed me, through Kelly Blue Book and Edmunds, both companies that give you used car values , that even if my car wasn't running (it was running fine) it was worth more than their final price.

I am sure I won't be the last person to file a complaint about this company.

Response:

Dear [redacted],

I am writing in response to your response dated 9/21/13.

On our website, when you select the box to note there is damage on your car, you have the ability to note all of the dents on your car and their severity, which you did not do. This yielded a higher valuation on your car than that which you received in our branch. We do not have a place for interior condition and as a result of your complaint, we are adding this to our damage wizard. However, we adjusted for this item by increasing the amount from $105 to $400.

In regards to the summer and winter tires, when we sell your car at auction, the buyer does not pay any additional money for this feature and thus we could not offer any additional money to you. We informed you of this when we confirmed your appointment and you noted that you would bring them for us to dispose of them for you to save you the disposal cost.

You note that you believe that you could have sold your car for more than $400 to someone else. You chose to sell your car to us. For your information only, we only made $100 on the sale of your car.

At no time were you under any obligation to sell us your vehicle.

With kind regards,

Regional Vice President - Operations

I am rejecting this response because it is fallacious and misleading. The fact that you did not have an interior condition as part of your valuation at the time is not my responsibility. That onus is on you. Kudos for making it part of your valuation so that you, perhaps, won't waste more people's time.

I bring up the tire issue not because there were two sets but because one set had considerably more tread than the other yet in your repair notes you stated that there was little tread left. I would think that you would use the newer set, which you did not, and discard the ones with less tread.

Saying trhat I didn't check the box for body dsmage is simply a lie. I checked off the right front fender since it had a considerable dent. I wouldn't expect to have to check off every minor door dent in a car this old. As an aside your representative said that they were "not significant" since minor blemishes like those are fixed "painlessly" at your facility as long as the paint wasn't broken which was the case.

Morever when I told the representative that I'd rather donate the car to charity he practically hurt himself telling me why that is a poor option. That is none of his business.

After further research using Edmund's and Kelly Blue book I have determined that trhe wholesale value of the car in the condition it was presented was between $750 and $953. The retail value was between $1400 and $1678.

I checked on your Facebook page and it shows shows that situations such as mine are extremely common. I wonder why that is.

The fact that you state that you only had a profit of $100 is not my concern.

You're right I was under no obligation to sell you the car and if I didn't have my wife in the car, who was in tears over your misleading evaluation, I would have not sold it to you since it was in fine mechanical condition and would have made someone a great "winter" car as it was 4 wheel drive.

You need to do the right thing before I drop this case. The amount of money isn't great but sleazy business practices should be recognized and corrected.

Regards,
