Review: Back on July of this year. I bough a transmission for my truk [redacted] year model 2000 from West Coast Auto Dismantling, it was under warranty when the transmission went bad I contact West Coast but because I have lost my receipt, they told me that they couldn't help me anymore. I know they have all my information on they're records. I spoke with the employe that help me from West Coast, his name is [redacted] and he told me that he remembers me. And new the the transmission was under warranty, he told me to take the truk to a shop for diagnosis and I did, then to fax the diagnosis to him. So I try to work with them but they never got back to me, [redacted] the employe of West Coast Auto Dismantling he told that he spoke with his boss but the boss said that they couldn't help me with no receipt, so I got tired of insisting with them and I bought another transmission from a different dismantling company in Sacramento and got my truk running because I need it for work. So now I just want my money from them it was almost $800 dollars. They never call me back.Desired Settlement: I want my money back back. I have the old transmission that they sold me, that they didn't want to replaced.

Response:

In regards to the above referenced complaint, Mr. [redacted] purchased a 2000 [redacted] USED transmission. On the front of the receipt that he took with him stated “WARRANTY EXCLUDES LABOR” and “ALL EXCHANGES MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY INVOICE.”

When Mr. [redacted] called he had stated that he did not have the receipt for this transmission any longer. My salesperson explained that we could not accept the product back without the original receipt. My salesperson did discuss it with the owner of the company, and he also came to the same resolve.

I am attaching a copy of the original invoice along with the back of the invoice that clearly states our Terms of Sale and Warranty Information.

If you need any other information, please feel free to correspond with me on this matter by email.

Review: The transmission in my 1993 Ford Bronco went out. I called a few places looking for one. I was referred to West Coast Auto Dismantling. They said that they had a really good one. The acted like it was the Holy Grail or something. On Sept. 12, 2015 I put $200 down as a deposit to hold until I got there. I told the man on the phone, [redacted] that I am disabled and can't afford to buy something and not have it work. I asked him if it didn't work if I could return it for a full refund. [redacted] said yes. So my wife, [redacted] and I drove to West Coast Auto Dismantling to get the transmission. We paid the remaining amount of money, $472.44. For a total amount of $672.44. I then took the transmission into Jeff's transmission shop, where he installed it for $500.00. After it was installed I drove it home testing the transmission out. It shakes really bad when you get near 60mph. It goes into each gear very ruff. This transmission is not good. So now I am out $500 for the install. I called [redacted] and he stalled the issue for almost a week. Then I called again and [redacted] said that he needed to talk to the owner. Then he told us that they will over exchange it for another transmission with even more miles on it. I can't afford to pay for another install and what if that one doesn't work. I have decided to have Jeff rebuild my own transmission, but I can't do that without my refund of $672.44. So basicly I'm stuck and can't drive by Bronco. Please help me get my money back. Thank you.Desired Settlement: I would like for you to contact West Coast Auto Dismantling and tell Juan or the owner that they need to refund my money. Thank you so much. I really appreciate your help.

Response:

This customer was told that we need to have our transmission back in order to make a decision regarding the condition of this part. Nothing can be done until then.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: When I first called West Coast Dismantlers [redacted] told me that this transmission was good. He said I could go to a pick and pull and try 3 times before I get a good transmission. He said that this transmission was really good. I had to pay a $200 deposit over the phone to secure it. I asked [redacted] before I gave him my credit card information if something is wrong with it could I bring it back and get my money back. I asked him 5 times to make sure and he told me "Yes I can get my money back if something was wrong with it." I returned the transmission on Oct. 6, 2015. I had to wait on the owner at the transmission shop to pull it out. I paid him $500 to put it in. Then I had to pay him $100 to take it out. Luckily he felt sorry for me and didn't charge me another $500. I am disabled and on Disability so I don't have this money to spare. The owner of West Coast Dismantlers would not speak to me. He sent out one of his managers named [redacted]. A very nice man. I could tell he had experience with this sort of thing. By sending out the very friendly manager. However, all the owner would allow him to do is give us a vocher of yard credit for $672.44 . He would not return my money even though he cannot meet my needs. West Coast Dismantlers only has one transmission that I can even try and it has more miles on it than the last transmission I got from them. I can't afford to take my chances on installing another transmission for $500 more. I am in a very tight spot. I had to borrow the money just to do this the first time. I can't trust them. The man, [redacted] in the office made the first transmission sound so good, like it was the Holy Grail or something. I also asked [redacted] a few times if I could paint it. He said "Yes". When I brought the transmission back they refused to even give me a core deposit back. They gave me nothing but a vocher for yard credit of $672.44. So I am out $500 + $100 + $672.44= $1,272.44. Please help me get my money back from West Coast Dismantlers. Thank you.

Response:

I will address this response according to each statement.Spencer did not write on the invoice that you were not accepting the yard credit. You did accept it.We usually require payment in full on phone orders for parts. That is our policy. The fact that you were only charged a $200.00 deposit, was to give us the time to find it in the yard and pull it from the vehicle it was in and make sure that it was good. No there is no WRITTEN anything over the phone. Everything is printed clearly on the invoice and posted on the wall of the customer area. The sales department explains the policy to everyone over the phone, and like I said, nothing would be pulled without a deposit. If you were apprehensive about the transaction you should have asked for everything to be FAXED or emailed to you. We do this for customers all the time.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:I will respond to your message one at a time. First off, I did ask [redacted] to write that we were not happy about the yard credit. He kept going back and forth and stalling us and probably that was why. He was hoping that I would forget. Anyway, that was the only thing that we could do at the time. We weren't going to leave without anything saying that we returned the transmission. I don't believe you about people paying all the money up front. Once you give any money at to you, you aren't willing to give it back if the customer isn't happy. I think you say whatever the customer wants to hear and do what you want. My wife was listening to the whole conversation that I had with [redacted]. I did ask him if I could get my money back. [redacted] did say yes that I could. This business is corrupt. If I could get my back from you, I can rebuild my transmission. That way I know that new parts are going on it and it will run. The mechanic will take that money and buy parts and will accept payments for the rest. I want a full refund of all my money. I can not afford to pay another $500 to have something that does work.

Review: I recently purchased a 1990 [redacted] Accord I went into West Coast Auto dismantling because the car needed a distributor I've purchased a distributor from West Coast for around $85 it was $75 plus tax.. a little bit later on that same week I put the part on and it didn't work I have a receipt from them it also says on the receipt that any and all parts sold come with a 90-day replacement warranty I tried to contact them to see if they would replace it their decision was not to honor their guarantee or warranty their decision was not too on her there n_t or warrantyDesired Settlement: I'm hoping to either just get the part replaced so that I can have a running vehicle I have a wife and two young children toddlers at home I just don't have the time for these games nor do I have $85 to just throw away on a broken part like that at home I just don't have the time for these games nor do I have 85 dollars to just throw away on a broken part like that.. if they are not willing to honor their replacement guarantee them I would just like to have my money reimbursed

Response:

Mr. [redacted] called West Coast and the owner answered the telephone. Mr. [redacted] explained the situation with the distributor. The Owner, [redacted] asked him for the invoice number so that he could look it up and make a determination. At this point Mr. [redacted] got beligerant on the phone with him yelling and cussing that we should know what the number is, etc. [redacted] asked him to please not speak to him like that and if he would just give us the invoice number he could immediately make an assessment of the problem. Mr. [redacted] continued to scream, yell and cuss at [redacted]. Then Mr. [redacted] hung up the phone. If he would like to call back or bring his part and his original invoice in with the part, we would be happy to give him a replacement for the distributor that he purchased.

Review: On Feb. 25th, 2015, I called West Coast, spoke w/ [redacted]. Asked for a transmission (trany) far 2001 [redacted] Civic. He had one for $775.00 w/ 67K miles. I liked the price, so I gave a $300.00 deposit. Next day I drove to Woodland, paid the remanding balance $484.81 & picked up the trany. I had it installed on Sat Feb 28th by a licensed mechanic. The mechanic called on Sun, trany was no good. The used trany would not shift into 2nd gear. I told him to remove it, I will return to West Coast to ask for a refund. I returned to West Coast on Mon. March 2nd with the trany. I told [redacted] that the trany I punched was no good. [redacted] told me I should have called him before I removed the trany & because of that, there was no refund. I told him that I was not informed about that, I was never told that I had to call before removing the trans. He said that the trany had 67K miles & it should work properly, it had low miles. [redacted] wanted to know exactly what was wrong with it. I told him it wouldnt shift into 2nd gear. [redacted] said they would not be able to determine the exact problem w/ the trany because I never called them before removing it, so now no refund. I told [redacted] it was not my job to drive 30 mile to buy it, pay for new seals, pay for oil, & pay for someone to install it just so we could diagnose the problem for you. It West Coasts job to determine if the trany worked before they sold it. [redacted] had me speak with the owner (didnt get his name) over the phone. The person I spoke w/ told me they were closing, come back another day. Later, I checked the VIN# of the trany on autocheck.com. The car the trany came from was last drivin on Feb of 2012, car had 127,824 miles. The trany had over 127k miles, not the 67k I was told it had. I called West Coast on March 6th. I spoke to [redacted], he said he was busy & that he would call me later, he never called back. I called West Coast on March 9th. I spoke to [redacted], he said he was busy and that he would call me later, he never called back.Transmission VIN# [redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like West Cost Auto Dismantling to refund my $784.81. I will return the transmission when I get the refund.

Response:

The owner of the company spoke to this customer on Saturday March 7. The customer explained the issues with the transmission and the owner asked it it was OK at any time after the installation. The customer said that he had not installed the transmission in the car. So the owner asked how he knew it had these problems without installing it into the car. The customer stated that he did not care, he just wanted a refund. The Sales agreement on the sales invoice clearly states that there are no cash refunds.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: I was told the Transmission had 67,000 miles on it, and in reality it has at least 127,824 miles. I went on Monday, March 2nd, not on Saturday. Ask to view the security video, I drove a 1999 yellow [redacted] f150, should be easy to see on the video. The transmission was istalled and the car was test driven and that is what I told Juan and the owner. The transmission did not work, it would not shift in to 2nd gear. They sold me a defective transmission and they wanted me to install it and test it for them. I would like a full refund. I paid for a transmission that I thought had 67k miles, but what I got was a transmission with over 127k miles on it. I will return the transmission to them once I get a full refund.

Review: I really tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt but it was tough. I came here due to convenience and wanted to purchase a transmission for my car. I arrived and the place was not as welcoming but I didn't expect too much from a wrecking yard. I normally go to the wrecking yards in Rancho Cordova but I decided to give this place a try. I ordered the transmission for my car and customer service lacked a bit but I didn't expect much from a wrecking yard. I had the transmission installed and realized that it was a defective transmission. I had the transmission removed and brought it back to have it exchanged since the transmission had a 90 day warranty. When I brought the transmission for the exchange, I was questioned by a worker named [redacted]. He accused me of cracking the transmission and asked me why I didn't expect the transmission when I purchased it. He further stated that he would exchange it but he was still assuming that I damaged the transmission.I received an exchanged transmission and noticed that the transmission was filled with grease and was not normal. I have worked on cars but a transmission with that much grease and oil is a red flag. I gave this place the benefit of the doubt once again. They pressure washed the transmission and took away some of the grease.I had the transmission installed and it was a bad transmission. I was irritated at that point but I figured it happens. I brought the transmission back to the shop to have it exchanged and they exchanged it with another transmission. I was on a lunch break when I exchanged the transmission so I was in a time crunch. When I inspected the transmission at home, I realized that the transmission had burnt plugs and burnt marks on the transmission. I'm not sure why they would even sell a transmission that was from a burnt car! I had that transmission installed and it was once again a bad transmission.I attempted to exchange this transmission but [redacted] did not believe this was a bad transmission. He was kind enough to offer to exchange the transmission for an extra $50. I told them I didn't think I should pay $50 for another transmission when it was the shop who provided me with a bad transmission. [redacted] told me that he didn't believe the transmission was installed. They took the transmission and was going to get it tested. This has been the worst experience in my life in purchasing parts from a wrecking yard. I would never come back here again and I hope that everybody would learn from my experience and not get ripped off like I did.Desired Settlement: I would like full refund of the item. I have given this place multiple times to make things right with giving a good transmission and the business failed to provide the product as promised.
