As a non-warranty courtesy, our concrete contractor applied a concrete crack sealer to the hairline crackAs a further non-warranty courtesy our skilled contractor skim coated that section of concrete for an even better appeal Both of these solutions are used widely across the board in the home building industryIt is unfortunate to hear of your dissatisfaction in the efforts made toward correcting the issue with your side walk Our warranty department is manned with detail oriented, professional, and thorough individuals who diligently work towards making your home everything you expected and our contractors are very good at the work they do and are experts in their fieldsThey build and repair according to the highest industry standards and to what is the best for every situation Where it is unfortunate that the side walk cracked, it is normal, and even expected to some extent, in this area of the country for that to happen. In the Homeowner’s Warranty and Information Manual the Homeowner is informed that these cracks are NOT covered under warranty and the homeowner is informed on the correct method to rectify the issue, which is to “seal as soon as possible, using a quality exterior acrylic caulking compound or equivalent product manufactured for this purpose.” Small hairline cracks do not affect any part of the structural integrity

Ms [redacted] *** Revdex.com SCounty Road 4, Suite Fort Collins, CO Re: Complaint # [redacted] Dear Ms***: Windmill Homes would like to take this opportunity to respond to the recent complaint filed by [redacted] regarding her home at [redacted] Windmill Homes has been in business since and during that time has built over homes in the Northern Colorado areaI have been in the residential home construction business for years, and currently serve as the Project Manager for Windmill HomesLet me preface this by saying that many design items in a new home are based on personal preferenceWhat one owner may like, another may dislikeAt Windmill Homes, we make every effort to ensure our owners are happy with their new home, proud of the way it looks and are happy with our services so they will recommend us to their family and friendsWe meet with our owners many times before and during the construction process, including a final walk through before closingWe have a design meeting with the new owners for them to choose things such as colors, materials, cabinets, flooring, lighting, appliances, fixtures, tile patterns, etc.—pretty much anything that is designed for the homeWhen we are notified of a problem with a new home, we address the issues and try to remedy them as quickly and as efficiently as possible so as to not cause inconvenience to the ownersWe had and have had every intention of resolving the items addressed by Mrs***, regardless of the intervention of your companyLet me reiterate that we are still ready, willing and able to perform our obligations to the satisfaction of the ***sIt is my understanding that Mrs***'s main concerns are regarding the wood floor and the concrete, so I will address each of those as follows: Ms [redacted] Page May 25, Wood Floor: At the design meeting there was no specific pattern described, so that determination is made by the installerWhen Mrs [redacted] contacted Windmills in February 2016, we came out and took a look at the floor and determined that two board joints were not within the manufacture's specificationsWe made arrangements to have [redacted] Interiors (the original installer) to replace 1/of the floor, and this work was conducted on March 29, 2016, and is reflected in the photographs that Mrs [redacted] provided to youAll butt joints were staggered to the minimum 6" as reflected on photo The repeated butts on of the floor joints occurs every 3-board as reflected on photo Starting rows with a variety of different lengths is reflected on photo The transition strip at the top of the stairs was installed with adhesive because it prevents dirt from getting beneath the floor, keeps the floor level and stable, and prevents the strip from tilting and/or breaking due to weight being appliedIt is our belief that this is the best method for installation for this material as does [redacted] InteriorsHowever, if Mrs [redacted] would like the strip installed without adhesive, we will be more than happy to have that done for her with the understanding that we will provide no further warranty for the strip from future breakage, chipping or instabilityKitchen island — this needs a 1/8" strip scalingWhen we first addressed the issue, Jonathan at [redacted] informed me that his conversation with the owners indicated they used salt and/or other chemicals on the concreteDespite this, we replaced the sidewalk for them, but we believe the remaining issues with the driveway were caused by the homeowners' actions and/or lack of actions in removing snow and ice and therefore voided the Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business, regarding floorsthat [redacted] flooring reinstall all the floors including all new material as they said they would. [redacted] flooring came to our house on March 29 said they were reinstalling the floors but they just moved boards around and put some new boards in. Then they didn't address all the problems they didn't go near the bar in my kitchen where all the jagged edges are. [redacted] wouldn't look at any other problems said because they were reinstalling whole floor. We also ask that [redacted] cleaned up their mess as they finish the job in full. We also ask that [redacted] please let us know when they have completed the job so that everyone on both parties can do a walk-through then there should be no more confusion. We will make sure kids are in bedrooms as they were before.
Regarding concrete[redacted] and windmill homes never gave us a straight answer regarding the driveway and back slab. They did repair the front porch. But after that was repaired they said now it's beyond builder control due to snow pack ice and salt. We always shoveled our concrete and never used any salt we ask that [redacted] repair all concrete in full.
Regards,
[redacted] and [redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
crack has reappeared after a few days.
Regards,
[redacted]

[redacted]Again, I apologize for any miscommunication. The flooring repairs were done to correct the butt joints that were less than 6 inches apart in accordance to the installation specification from the flooring manufacturer. It is my understanding that the original installation error has been corrected. The flooring company and the manufacturer have determined that there is no need to replace the whole floor.  [redacted]’s warranty representative would be happy come look at the other areas of concern to determine if they are covered by your warranty. Feel free to reach out to him directly, [redacted], to schedule a time. As per the Windmill Homes Limited Home Warranty Agreement, concrete is past the warrantable period of three month: “Snow, ice pack, salt and other chemicals can cause pitting, scaling and spalling of concrete surfaces.  Pitting, scaling and spalling does not occur after 3 months unless these chemicals have been used or ice has not been removed. Builders Responsibility: None – deterioration due to these causes are beyond builder control.” Thank you,Lisa H[redacted]  -Operational Manager[redacted]   [redacted]cid:[email protected]

Dear Mr. and Mrs. [redacted],Windmill Homes apologizes for your frustration and for not being responsive to your concerns. I have attached a copy of “Windmill Homes Limited Warranty Agreement”. Please refer to the section “Poured-in Place Concrete” on page two in case you have any questions as to what is...

warrantable. I have confirmed that our project manager, Joe S[redacted], has been in contact with you this week to address your concerns and schedule repairs. [redacted] has also confirmed that the materials have been ordered to repair your floors according to the manufacturer’s install guidelines. The work will be completed as soon as they are able to schedule a time with you. We appreciate your patience as we work together to complete your work Thank you.

As a non-warranty courtesy, our concrete contractor applied a concrete crack sealer to the hairline crack. As a further non-warranty courtesy our skilled contractor skim coated that section of concrete for an even better appeal.  Both of these solutions are used widely across the board in the home building industry. It is unfortunate to hear of your dissatisfaction in the efforts made toward correcting the issue with your side walk.  Our warranty department is manned with detail oriented, professional, and thorough individuals who diligently work towards making your home everything you expected and our contractors are very good at the work they do and are experts in their fields. They build and repair according to the highest industry standards and to what is the best for every situation.  Where it is unfortunate that the side walk cracked, it is normal, and even expected to some extent, in this area of the country for that to happen. In the Homeowner’s Warranty and Information Manual  the Homeowner is informed that these cracks are NOT covered under warranty and the homeowner is informed on the correct method to rectify the issue, which is to “seal as soon as possible, using a quality exterior acrylic caulking compound or equivalent product manufactured for this purpose.” Small hairline cracks do not affect any part of the structural integrity.
