Xpress Lube, Carwash and Smog Center1490 E Prater WaySparks, NV 89434775-359-4500www.xpresslubesparks.cominfo@xpresslubesparks.comOn Thursday, November 5, 2015 I went to Xpress Lube at 1490 E Prater Way, Sparks, NV 89434 to obtain a smog test and certificate. I first called them and asked their price for a smog test and was told $18.95. I little higher than the business I usually use but there is an $11 off coupon in the [redacted] fundraising coupon book for a smog test at this Xpress Lube location. When I presented the coupon to Xpress Lubes employee he told that the price was $18.95. I said, I have a coupon for $11 off. He refused to take the coupon. We went back and forth about it, I asked him what the price would be for someone without a coupon, he responded $18.95, I asked him what the price was for a person with the coupon, and he responded $18.95.He told me that the owner of the business has instructed him to refuse to take these coupons. I told him that I didnt want to do business with them if they were not going to take the coupon and that I wasnt going to pay the $18.95. He told me that if I did not pay the $18.95 that he would prevent me from registering my car with DMV by locking up my registration renewal. Extortion is defined as, The practice of obtaining something, especially money, through force or threats. The experience I had at Xpress Lube certainly felt like extortion to me. Since I have to have transportation and I had to get my car registered I submitted to his extortion and paid the $18.95 under duress.Based on my experience with this business, the conversation I had with the employee and the documentation of their receipt and the [redacted] coupon I believe that Xpress Lube engages in Deceptive Trade Practices as defined by NRS 598.0915 definition 9, Advertises goods or services with intent not to sell or lease them as advertised, In addition to the basic deceptive trade practice, this business also engaged in a Deceptive Trade Practice directed toward an elderly person or person with disability. I clearly appear to be over 60 years old and my vehicle openly displayed a handicapped placard. I definitely felt extorted, intimidated, and threatened. At one point in our conversation the employee turned around and advanced towards me in a threatening manner because I said to him, Hey dude, I want my coupon back. He turned around and advanced toward me in a threatening manner, yelling that his name was not dude in an angry, hostile way, before returning my coupon. I feel mental and emotional anguish over my experience at Xpress Lube.So to sum it all up, Xpress Lube advertises in a current publication an $11 discount for a smog test and certificate; refuses to honor the coupon and extorts the customer to pay no matter what by threatening to hold up their registration. In my opinion Xpress Lube engages in deceptive trade practices, deceptive trade practices directed towards an elderly person or person with a disability as defined and described in NRS Chapter 598; false advertising as defined by the Truth in Advertising Act of 2014, and extortion as defined and described in NRS 205.320.I was incredulous when I encountered a business so poorly run that an owner would advertise a discount, I assume to bring in new customers, and then proceed to put policies in place for his employees that guarantee consumers will have a horrible, terrible retail experience, and certainly guarantee they would never do business with their company again. My experience with Xpress Lube will certainly be the story I tell at our Thanksgiving gathering this year as well as advising all of my Sparks clients to avoid this business and its anti-consumer deceptive trade practices.Product_Or_Service: Smog Check / Smog CertificateDesired SettlementA refund of the $11 that I was overcharged.Business Response HelloSorry that you had an unpleasant experience at Xpress Lube Sparks. We would be happy to refund your $11. Just a little explanation.. Those Z best coupons were designed and published quite sometime ago, when our Smog prices were $29.95. We have since reduced our price for everybody to $18.95 with no coupon needed![redacted] doesn't even allow us to design our own ads otherwise the price would of been stated on the coupon. They are not the easiest to deal with but it is for high school and junior high coupon books. Again sorry for the confusion.

Review: I Have been taking my 2 trucks to Xpress lube #1 for full service since 2001 and last year 1/08/2013 the technican cross threaded my rear differential drain plug duringb service and was sitting there for hour till they confessed and put a temporary plug in and a gave me an adress to a nearby shop to have it fixed. Took truck there next morning and they repaired it. I had it serviced a few months ago by them and noticed oil on my driveway checked underneth and saw a rubber washer smashed in with my differental drain plug. Took it back to lube place manager gave me a phone # to his boss and a card to the same place that fixed it before. I asked why they didn't tell me about the plug they stripped he said it happens and sorry. I am Deaf so my brother called and the regional boss said ask lube manager where to take truck. I took it to Simi Toyota and to fix it repair estimate was $2,500.00 they refuse to have it done by Toyota which Toyota told me its not recomended to tap it a second time and the housing needs to be replaced. Back at the Lube shop the boss said he has no record of my Differental service , well I have the reciepts and I do not see why they didn't include the plug damage. Seperate reciept from H&M Auto repair shop who billed them. (cover up.) so falsifing my service Track record is fraud. How do I get them to pay for their damage and have truck repaired right. Manager told my brother to put JB Weld on it, then in person he said he didn't say that. My Brothers name is [redacted] you can call him at the number I listed. Truthfuliy, [redacted]Desired Settlement: Have my Truck fixed by a certified auto shop. Toyota or Perry's Auto services? Pay my Toyota check up Bill since they said it was ok to have them look at it?
