Review: [redacted] is using our business address ([redacted]) as their business location on a lot of online listing. I tried calling [redacted] to resolve the issue but they hung-up the phone. So I contacted the independent listing and some were helpful but others said that they can not update the information on their end as the listing is locked by a Yext Power Listing account. They suggested that I directly contact Yext to resolve the issue. When I reached out to Yext the customer support was not helpful at all. She basically told me that the accuracy of the address doesn't matter as long as it's a valid address (by valid meaning that the address appears on a map). She was not willing to investigate to see if they are displaying the accurate information. I don't think this is correct or legal so I want Yext to take off our business address from being displayed on online listing under a wrong business name.Desired Settlement: Our address will no longer be displayed as a business address of [redacted].

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I've received an email from Yext and they said that they are working to resolve the problem. I'm happy to see that there is some progress being made and will keep you updated once the problem is completely resolved. Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,

Review: I moved my office to a new location on July **, 2013. At that time I purchased Yext. When you scan for your business name and phone number, it shows all the errors on the internet and states it will "fix it all" on the sites you purchase. This has not been the case. I have made numerous phone calls to Yext and sent emails but I was informed this is not what Yext does (meaning fix the erroneous business name and phone number) AFTER I made the purchase based on their advertisement. They claim to fix the errors, but all they really do is put a new address/phone number on the sites without fixing anything (ie, removing the old erroneous information). I have personally had to contact each site and do it myself, and now I'm going to have to do it again because the put the wrong phone number on a listing with [redacted] and it is now spreading throughout the internet. So, not only did they not fix anything, they made it worse.Desired Settlement: I would like my money back since all they did was list my new phone number (erroneously in some cases) and address without fixing anything, leaving multiple listings that I have had to remove myself. I would also like them to remove the erroneous information YEXT listed on [redacted] and any other sites it spread to due to their incompetence.

Review: The company is violating their privacy policy information act due to slanderous and libel online reviews that the business refuses to delete from their site. The company has been contacted on several occasions concerning the slanderous online posts but still refuse to remove the posts without monetary payments.Desired Settlement: all slanderous and libel posts be removed from all sites within [redacted] and other affiliated programs and websites. Also, the complaining company requests that all lost revenue and income including defamation of business character be replaced due to the posts, estimated to be in an excess of $10,000.00

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: This is more of an "All of the Above" complaint with multiple variables involved. Yext contacted us about advertising and getting all of our listings linked together and synced on the internet so that all of our information was the same on any of the main search engines online. They had a introductory offer of $1 for the first month and then $39.95 thereafter. They would update the information and keep blogs and positive feedback monitored and updated each month to keep our business at the top of the listings. After we agreed to this, we no longer heard from Yext, but rather began speaking with another company called [redacted] who told us they were Yext under a different name. So, what really happened is Yext sold our information to a third party without our knowledge or acceptance and this third party has really made a mess of things. They have completely NOT done the syncing they were supposed to do, they created an email account they never told us about that had nothing to do with our business name and had no purpose whatsoever. They continued to bill us after NUMEROUS attempts by phone and email to contact and reject this before the charges went through, resulting in lots of calls with our bank to defer from this end of the charge. The [redacted] is located in the [redacted] and during the time all of this was happening I received notification that all of my accounts were being accessed from the [redacted] and passwords were being changed, business name changed, etc. When we finally blocked everything from our end, we got a call from [redacted] and supposedly it has been stopped. But since then all of our search engine listings have been wiped out completely, our company has been ghosted. This is all work that my company had basically done prior to this fiasco but just not synched up. After the cancellation we get a call from Yext who mysteriously knows that we don't have an account anymore and they tell us yes, they do contract out to other companies but this [redacted] is not one of theirs, they don't know how this happened, but for $500 dollars, they can clear the whole mess up and get us back up online and synched up again. Pretty good racquet, Yext. Way to upsell. This is definitely hurting our business, we are a 2 person store in our first year of business and looking for ways to expand and stay alive, not be preyed upon and taken advantage of.Desired Settlement: We would like what was promised to us originally at no further cost and to have no more dealings with third parties that we do not expressly consent to. We want our good name restored and this problem taken care of. Our name needs to be found when searched online and all numbers, business names, etc. need to match and we want to be at the top of the searches. We would have gladly paid the $39.95/mo for this had you not sent us an out of country, fly by night operation that intended to defraud us. Oh, and then try to fleece us for $500 more dollars to "fix" the problem we should have never had in the first place because of your enormous mistake and bad business dealings.

Review: Yext has hijacked sech engine sights including [redacted], [redacted], [redacted], and [redacted] and has posted false and misleading information about my company. the ads identify my company by name and address but direct the consumer to fk phone number and a false and misleading web site address. This is a violation of trademark and copyright infringement. We ask they relase and delete those listings ASAP.Desired Settlement: Multi-part request

For every listing they have with a phone number ###-###-#### they change it to our legal phone number ###-###-####

For every web address link they have change it to our legal address link [redacted]

email us at [redacted] with all the login information for those accounts so that we may claim and take ownership of those hijacked accounts.

Response:

Dear [redacted],On Thursday, November **, our Supervisor of Client Support reached out to [redacted] by email and by phone in response to complaint, ID# [redacted]. The summary of the complaint is that [redacted] wanted to update listing information, but was being directed to purchase listings through Yext because of some of our partnerships with our publisher network. First, we wanted to address [redacted]'s concern of incorrect information on some of the sites that Yext partners with, and explain how our service works and that Yext isn't actually the one who is publishing this misinformation.First, we highlighted that Yext does not create, nor publish any information or listings to any sites without a paid subscription. This is absolutely the opposite of of our business model and our goal in creating one enhanced and complete listing on each of our publishers. Next, we explained to [redacted] what Yext's capabilities are, and exactly what the service does for our clients, which is as follows:Yext is a third party software that allows business owners to claim and update their listings, and manage all of them from one place while also enhancing them. Yext is a paid service, however, electing to use the Yext service is completely up to the business owner, as the business owner is always free to go to each local search site and make updates directly. This method frequently takes much longer, which is one of the many reasons why we have created our service. Furthermore, some publisher sites have chosen to use Yext as their sole source of new listings and data updates. We provided any contact information that is public for our publishers so that [redacted] could use it to reach out and request free updates.[redacted] was upset that some of the publishers will not perform any updates without a paid Yext subscription. We completely understand his concerns and frustrations, but since this is a decision of the corresponding site themselves, and Yext does not have a claim on the information, we cannot do anything to change the policy of that site or update any listing information without a paid subscription. At this point, there is nothing more that Yext will be able to do to assist [redacted] in his complaint without a subscription to our services, but we are here as a resource should he have any further questions or concerns.Sincerely,Yext

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Yext did not admit guilt but the web sites they can verify 100% that Yext did the damage and that only Yext could remove it. Yext has not resolved the issue. I tried calling every site but it took time. Three sites removed it at my request overriding Yext but several sites would not do that and told me only Yext could remove it. Therefore the issue is NOT resolved. Reopen the complaint or post this as my response. I am still waiting for Yext to rectify the remaining web sites. Thanks

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved. It was obvious the web information came through Yext, but they were not cooperative until recently to dig deep to find a third party provider used Yext to create the erroneous listing. I am in contact now with the third part to update their information that is in error.

Sincerely,

Review: I work for an local Law Firm in NYS and it is my responsibility to update and synchronize our directory information online through various websites

There are a couple dozen websites, however, which when you attempt to update our outdated or incorrect information, you are automatically redirected to a funnel advertisement promoting yext services. I sent an email to yext on July [redacted], 2014 with an itemized list of changes that needed to be made. Their automated response said I would be contacted within 8 business hours. I WAS NOT CONTACTED WHATSOEVER until I sent ANOTHER email TODAY (7/**/2014, almost two weeks later) which reiterated my previous issue with our incorrect listings, and stated I would file a complaint if my issue remained unresolved.

Only after threatening to file a Revdex.com complaint did I receive a call from a yext representative who refused to address my issue without trying to sell me services.

The main problem here is that the information is incorrect and my ability to claim it on behalf of my business is locked by yext. It seems to me that they have the power to manage anybody's listing with impunity whether you are "signed up" with their services or not. This means that they could potentially take any business listed on their associated directories, change the information to something irrelevant or outdated (It is not difficult to find outdated info on a local business and use it) and essentially hold your online listing for "ransom" until you decide to purchase their services.

If the user is willing to spend a little of their own time, there are many online directories which allow the user to claim and edit their own business listing at no charge. This is what I'm trying to accomplish. My personal responsibility for this firm is to do these edits and synchronize this information.

It's basically blackmail when I'm told "you won't be able to access or update any of that information without signing up with our service" by the yext representative. The incorrect and outdated listings online are potentially harmful to our SEO and online presence and I'm more than willing to fix it myself if yext relinquishes OUR INFORMATION from their online locks or however they funnel users to their web-page sized popup ad.

It is completely reprehensible to post incorrect information online and then attempt to charge the business to fix it when so many directories allow the user to do this privately.Desired Settlement: I need one of two things to happen (or both):

1. I need all listings pertinent to our firm to be released from the sites I listed in the original customer service email. I can provide these sites upon request, though I understand they won't show if I list them in my complaint. I am more than able to do the typework on this myself, and would have done it already if there were any way to do so.

2. If there is no way to release the listings, as was stated by the very terse representative with whom I spoke, I need all listings pertinent to our firm be automatically updated through yext. The current correct information is also itemized in the original customer service email, however I can provide the business name/address/phone # upon request.

Furthermore, I need any redundant listings with incorrect information that appear IN ADDITION TO the corrected ones on the aforementioned directory sites to be removed. As a search for our name or phone number can sometimes result in 2-5 or possibly more additional results (with old or otherwise incorrect information), I would require that these fractal listings be removed to promote a uniform, synchronized listing across these directories. It's less complicated than it sounds, and again, I can absolutely do this myself if the above outcome is abided.

A representative from the company has contacted me and provided me the necessary information requested. I would like to thank this representative for her professionalism and expediency, as well as the degree of transparency regarding how their service operates as it pertains to my online business listings. All confusion has been cleared and I consider complaint ID [redacted] amicably resolved.

Review: I was told the only way to get my business listed on [redacted] was to subscribe to YEXT power listings, which would get me listed on 49 sites because my "online presence" wasn't showing up even though I had manually entered my business information on the majority of these sites. I paid $199 to Yext for their Power Listings package only to discover that they weren't doing anything different than I had already done. In fact, the report came back that they were unable to list me on several sites I was already listed on! They also said I didn't have a listing or "presence" on sites where I actually had a very strong presence. When I did a "scan of my business" without logging into my account the bogus scan states that I am not listed on various sites where I actually do have listings. The only place where the listing counted for me was [redacted], and I am NOT on there. I built another website for free and already that one is listed on [redacted]. Yext misled me, did NOT improve my presence on the web and did not make my listing stand out in any way. I would like a full refund of the $199 I wasted for their useless service.Desired Settlement: Full refund and close my account with Yext.

I spoke with the client over the phone and we are able to come to a quick resolution. [redacted] was interested in correcting her listing on a particular publisher site which was not included in the package that she purchased. We spoke about how this mix-up could have occurred and then her options moving forward, either changing her package to one that does include the particular publisher site or cancelling the service altogether. [redacted] decided to cancel the service altogether and receive a refund. Everything is all set now for this client and we wish her all the best!Kind regards,Supervisor of Client Support, Yext

Response:

To Whom It May Concern, This is regarding NYRevdex.com Complaint #[redacted]. [redacted] has found herself in a tough spot where her personal cell phone number is associated with a business she has no relation to. This is resulting in business listings with her cell phone number on different local search directories. I spoke with [redacted] on the phone about her situation and clarified what [redacted] does and offered some possible routes to tackle her problem. Since neither the business in question nor [redacted] herself have accounts with Yext, we are not and have not provided her phone number to any listing sites. Since [redacted] is not powering those listings or that information, [redacted] is unable to edit those listings or remove that number. I recommended she reach out to the listing sites directly to flag the number or reach out to the data aggregators who provide the base data for these listing sites. I'm glad I was able to offer my assistance to [redacted] and point her in the right direction so she can resolve the situation and I wish her the best of luck. Best regards,Supervisor of Client Support - [redacted]

Review: Read all of the complaints listed. Our complaint is a combination of most of the others. We were automatically charged $499.00. Emails were sent within 2 minutes after the charge and calls were made in an attempt to cancel all of which fell on deaf ears. Then a search on their FAQ page and entire website provided no explanation, not even a hint, on how to cancel. I have initiated a c.c. card dispute but to date no success with that. We have been in this business since year 2000, have had many transactions with many companies and this is the first public complaint we have lodged against any company.

Review: Yext is advertising our business address incorrectly. We were yext customers years ago at another location, but have moved since then. I tried to go onto their website to update the address. Within 10 minutes of that, I got a call from them. They said they cannot correct information on the free service, I said ok fine then delete me. They said that we would have to reinstate our account and then we could change it. Another words Pay to have it updated or removed.Desired Settlement: Delete me Business information from your website if you cannot update my new address.

Business

Response:

To Whom It May Concern,This is regarding NYRevdex.com Complaint #[redacted]. [redacted] was looking to update her business’s address on her listings and was directed to Yext. The sales rep notified her that as a paid service, we cannot manage any business listings for free. I called [redacted] and explained that she may have been in business with a separate service in the past, but we were able to confirm that there is no account for her business, active or expired, in the Yext system. Since [redacted] has never been an active client, we have never powered her business listings. This means that Yext is not the provider of the content she is seeing on her listings. As such, we are not able to delete her information. The reason she was directed to Yext when attempting to update the business listings is because many publisher sites trust the data that comes from Yext. In the interest of displaying correct business information, many publisher sites prefer their data to come from a trusted source like Yext, instead of from many other fragmented sources. However, this is not the only way she can update the listings. [redacted] understood that Yext was not involved with or responsible for the incorrect information she was seeing and also understood that she can go to each publisher to update her information. I provided [redacted] with an Excel spreadsheet that lists contact information for the various publisher sites we work with so she can reach out to them directly in order to update the listings. [redacted] was a pleasure to speak with and I wish her the best of luck with updating her information and with her current business. Thank you, [redacted] - Yext

Response:

To Whom It May Concern, This is regarding NYRevdex.com Complaint #[redacted]. [redacted] was unaware that his Yext account was set on an automatically renewing payment schedule. When the charge went through he contacted the Yext support team where he was offered a pro-rated refund for all of the unused service left in the new billing cycle. [redacted] did not accept this pro-rated refund and opted to file a dispute with his credit card company. Once the credit card company opened the dispute, [redacted]’s account was cancelled so the dispute process could begin. I called [redacted] when we received the Revdex.com complaint and spoke with him at length about how our service renewed. Since he agreed to our terms and conditions, which state that the account will automatically renew unless cancelled, his account was renewed on schedule, thus charging the credit card on file. While [redacted] was not happy with the few different ways he was notified about this renewal, we came to an understanding about why the account is set up in that way. Yext was not trying to charge his credit card without his authorization, we simply have the accounts on an automatically renewing cycle in order to prevent disruption of service between billing cycles, which is in the best interest of his business listings. If the service ends, Yext is no longer able to provide his business information to the publisher sites we partner with. When that happens, the client no longer has direct control over the listings and the correct information Yext had been providing could be removed by the publisher site since the Yext account providing the data is no longer active. Had [redacted] cancelled the account before the renewal date, he would not have been charged. After speaking with [redacted] on the phone, he has still decided to part ways with Yext and we agreed to provide him with the full refund as a courtesy for his troubles and frustration. We wish [redacted] the best of luck with managing his digital presence and we’re sorry that Yext wasn’t the best fit for his needs! Thank you,[redacted]

Sincerely,

Review: Yext is in the business of selling its PowerListings services, which allow business to get their information on various internet directories. They are the exclusive way to get on Yahoo, and in conjunction with their resellers essentially have a monopoly on a lot of directories, so there aren't a lot of other options available for this type of service. Initially I obtained a free account with Yext to get a Yahoo directory listing. They attempt to entice you into paying by allowing your listing to go live in 48 hours if you pay, but it takes weeks if not months for the free version. A few days later, I signed up for a free service with [redacted]. who is a Yext reseller. I decided that I didn't want to go through the delays, so I attempted to sign up for a premium listing service through [redacted], again who is a Yext reseller.

I was informed by [redacted] that they could not sell me the premium service, as I already had a paid subscription with Yext. I attempted to explain to them that is was only a free account, but their customer service was uninterested and unhelpful, all they would tell me is to contact Yext. I contacted Yext and after some back and forth just asked them to cancel my free account, since it was showing up on [redacted]'s computers and interfering with the process. They said they cancelled it, however [redacted] still would not sell me the premium listings, and kept saying the same thing, talk to Yext. Finally, I decided to give up on [redacted] and buy the premium listing directly from Yext, so I told [redacted] to cancel my account, and remove my business completely from their database, which they say they did.

I then signed up for the Premium listings directly with Yext, and all went well for a few days, until I received an email from Yext support saying they had cancelled my premium listings because I already had a paid premium listings account with a reseller. I contacted Yext support and explained in detail what had happened, and was told to contact [redacted]. I explained that [redacted] would not help me and would only tell me to call Yext, and she still said to contact [redacted]. I then asked to speak to a supervisor, explained the whole situation to him, and he still simply responsed with only contact [redacted]. After some discussion, I got him to say he would have their escalation team or something like that call [redacted] and ask [redacted] to contact me.

I waited a day or two and when as expected [redacted] didn't contact me, I contacted them again demanding that my account with them be deleted. They responded that it had been, and once again placed the blame on Yext and told me to contact them. I contacted Yext and explained everything, and they sent me an email saying, [redacted]." I then contacted [redacted] again and requested they reach out to Yext, they declined. Then I sent the email from [redacted] to Yext which showed I had no [redacted] account. I sent the email from Yext to [redacted] showing that Yext believed I had an account with [redacted]. I asked both again to reach out to the other to resolve the issue. Finally, the [redacted] person did email Yext and confirm I did not have an account with them. I waited another day, contacted Yext, and was told via chat that once I cancelled my [redacted] account they could sign me up for a premium account.

This has gone on for close to three weeks, and these customer service people will do nothing to help, they don't listen and they don't make any effort to fix the problem. Obviously, however these two companies coordinate the reselling through their computer systems, there are some significant flaws. I have come to conclusion that the only way to get them to do anything about my issue is to bring in an outside source like the Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: I just want to be able to sign up for the premium listings with Yext.

Response:

To Whom It May Concern, This is regarding NYRevdex.com Complaint #[redacted]. [redacted] was unable to sign up for an account directly with Yext because there was an active account with another service provider and we did not want him paying for the same service twice. With Yext unable to cancel accounts on behalf of the other service provider, our hands were tied until they took action on the issue. We were able to escalate this request on behalf of [redacted] and the other service provider cancelled the account, per his request. I have communicated this to the client and he has since activated an account directly with Yext. I'm glad we were able to assist the [redacted] with their request and we hope they enjoy their time with Yext! All the best,Supervisor of Client Support, Yext

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

While I have finally been able to sign up for an account, their response is indicative of the main issue with their customer service, they simply do not listen to their customers. They once again repeat the same line as before, "[redacted]" As I repeatedly told them, and provided written proof documenting, I never had a paid account with [redacted], and the free account I did have with them was cancelled on January **. Yet, it took two weeks, hours of my time, and ultimately a Revdex.com complaint to finally get them to move. I don't see that there is anything more to do on my specific case, as I have finally been able to obtain the outcome I needed, but they need to work on these customer services issues.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

To Whom It May Concern, This is regarding NYRevdex.com Complaint #[redacted], where [redacted] did not plan on renewing his subscription with Yext and requested a refund for services rendered this billing cycle. I Spoke with [redacted] on the phone and we discussed his account, the way our subscriptions work, and the options for cancelling. Yext subscriptions renew annually unless cancelled within the account or with our Support team, so the recent charge he saw was for the continuation of his service into his second year. When [redacted] expressed his interest in not continuing the service with me, I cancelled his account and issued a refund. I'm glad we were able to get in touch about his account and I'm sorry he did not realize his account would be renewing earlier so this situation could have been avoided altogether. Regardless, this complaint has been settled with both parties satisfied. We're happy to help in any other way we can. All the best,Supervisor of Client Support - Yext

Response:

To Whom It May Concern,This is regarding NY Revdex.com Complaint #[redacted]. [redacted] found incorrect information about her business on a [redacted] business listing. She claims that Yext published this incorrect information. I spoke with [redacted] on the phone briefly about her situation, offering my guidance on how to submit her information to [redacted] for free and explain how Yext has not provided or published any information about her business since she does not have a paid account with us. Since our conversation was brief, I followed up in email with detailed explanations to assist her in her mission to get the address updated. Yext does not pull location data from other sites or data providers, such as [redacted], as claimed in the complaint. Yext only gets business information from our paying clients. Since [redacted] has never had a paid account with us, it is clear that we do not have her business information and have never provided that data to any local search directories, including [redacted]. We cannot and do not power listings for a business unless the business has an account with us. Also, to support that claim, one can see that the [redacted] listing in question does not have any Yext characteristics, such as it being Merchant Verified, having a Featured Message, or having a PowerListings Synced tag on it. While I understand that having this incorrect address on your listing is frustrating, Yext is unable to edit listings we do not power. Since it is clear [redacted] does not wish to use Yext directly, my best advice is to submit the address updates through the [redacted] free claim process if she has not done so already. You could also try to find the source of the bad address, which could be any number or data providers, such as data aggregators like InfoUSA (which you can see in the fine print at the bottom of your lisitng - "[redacted].This is the most help I can provide to [redacted] and I hope this information is helpful in getting the address updated. Yext is happy to assist in any other way that we can. Best,Supervisor of Client Support - Yext

Hi [redacted],I am writing regarding NYRevdex.com Complaint #[redacted]. The phone number listed in the complaint is not registered in our system as a lead and as such has never been called by our sales team. We reached out to our IT team and they have confirmed that your number has been receiving calls from a foreign call center using "Yext, Inc." on their caller ID - a common scam with large outsourced call centers. Unfortunately, you are not the only person to receive calls of this nature and reach out to us about it. We completely understand how frustrating this is for you and it's definitely an issue we need to get resolved, as well. Yext has been hard at work with phone service providers to clear our name from their caller ID records and hope to have the last of this solved soon. Thank you for reaching out and please let us know if you have any questions. All the best,Supervisor of Client Support - Yext

Review: I am representing two businesses, a CPA firm and a Beauty Salon and Day Spa in the Buffalo NY area. Yext provides information to listings such as company name, address and phone number. One of the businesses (beauty salon) has it's address is listed as their business address on several websites across Yext subscribers. Because their home address is listed, clients may go to their home instead of their business, which would cause not only a loss of business but violates their privacy. Just listing their home address is a violation of privacy. In regards to the CPA firm, Yext has the business name listed incorrectly as a individuals who do or did work for the organization. Again this violates privacy. When contacting Yext and telling them of the issues, they say they are a third party vendor and demand $150/year to "claim" each of these listings so I can fix. They say I can fix myself by going to each listing through the original party or emailing them, but these parties lead you back to Yest. Yext is knowingly providing misinformation about businesses and fixes only in you pay them. This is extortion and a violation of privacy.Desired Settlement: Fix listings - remove all personal information such as home address and employees.
