Pet parents beware!!! Absolutely the worst customer service! If you have any troubles or your dog is neglected you'll receive no support and you'd be just as well off if you used [redacted] While under the care of Rover, our dog ingested something she shouldn't have had, and incurred $in vet billsRover's "free premium pet insurance" denied it without taking information from our vetThey claim to offer insurance through a second company but they will deny your claim without forwarding it to the insurance company This aside, look at Rovers website and you'll see only five-star reviews for all their dog sitters (red flag!)We posted our poor experience on Rover's Facebook page and the comments were deleted

Rover.com advertises that they do background checks for their pet sittersHowever, their Terms of Service, section specifically states: "Identity and Background VerificationAll parties are responsible for providing true, accurate, current and complete information about yourself, and maintaining and promptly updating all such information so it remains true, accurate, and complete at all timesRover does not verify any such information, and it is the user’s sole responsibility to determine the identity and suitability of others who you may contact by means of the ServicesWe do not endorse any persons who use or register for our Services, including Pet Care Service ProvidersRover may provide or publish (through badges) identity and background information services offered by third parties (each a “Third Party Service”)Rover.com does not warrant or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any information, and specifically disclaims liability and responsibilit

I paid a dog sitter $231.80 to care for my two dogs for five days. The agreement was that she would walk the dogs daily, the dogs were not to be taken out of their environment, the allergic rash on one of my dogs was to be sprayed daily, and a regular routine would be followed (when treats were given, bedtime routine, etc.). Upon my return I found that my dog’s rash was worse than ever and the spray was not even touched. I heard from my neighbors that my dogs were never seen on walks other than one time. I was sent one photo of my dogs on a walk. When my dogs are taken on regular walks, they routinely relieve themselves, and when I came home none of my disposal bags were used so I don’t believe they were routinely walked as promised. I specifically hired an in-home dog sitter so that my one dog, who has very bad arthritis, could be exercised and it’s very disappointing to know that she was not. After my one star review (which was NOT posted until I followed up with 3 additional

I book doggy day care for four days in December when we were visiting our daughter's familyThe sitter gave me a different address than the one forwarded by Rover.ComWe took our dog to that address at the agreed time and found it was a trailer park with about unitsI called the phone number provided by Rover.Com to find out which unit was the sitter's, but the number was not in serviceOur daughter found the sitter's name and address, including the unit, on the internetWe went there but no one answered the doorI sent a message to the sitter through Rover.Com but she did not ever reply We made other, last minute arrangements for care for our dogI found no clear way to register a complaint on the Rover.Com websiteI finally described the problem, requested a refund, and submitted it to "support" but it was never answeredAfter the four days had passed, Rover.Com asked me to submit a reviewI wrote in the review that the service had never been provided, explained wh

My fiance and I hired a pet sitter through ROVER.COM to stay overnight in our home and to care for our dog, Rue, and our two horses; Big Ben and MustangThe pet sitter lives locally, studies pre-veterinary medicine at UConn, and has star reviews on their websiteThe sense of security of having a person stay in our home for the safety of our home and our animals was a priorityWe were hoping to have a reliable, trustworthy pet sitter that we could use regularly in the futureWe booked the sitter for our two week vacation only after having her to the house, twice, for two tours plus a run down of chores, and booking her for an overnight prior to our two week trip as a trial while my fiance and I stayed at a friend's house Upon returning home from our two week excursion throughout the Midwest, we were met with urine and feces in every upstairs room of our houseThe odor met us at the door as well as the loud whine of our well pump failingDespite our literal months of correspondence in preparation of a two week vacation, our pet sitter left our dog for extended periods of time (including overnight) and failed to perform even our most basic requests The indoor plants were wilted and some of them diedThere was no new trash since we left and the barrel was never taken to the curb and our mail was never brought insideThe toilet had grown mold without use, no new dishes were in the strainer or dishwasherIn fact, our dishwasher had never been opened - the lit up word "clean" was still on from when we ran it the night before we leftOur immediate neighbor didn't see a car in the driveway in the mornings and thought Rue was being boarded at the kennel because of the lack of activity at the houseAll fly spray bottles left for the horses were still completely full; our horses weren't sprayed once in the time we were awayThe horse fencing was left open in two places and Mustang kicked out a stud in his stallAlso, our well pump had failed and so our water had to be shut offWere weren't made aware of any damages until we came home When confronted via text, the sitter confessed to only staying "most nights", complained that she wasn't getting paid enough for the workload and admitted to having unreliable transportationWe find these excuses unacceptableWe left the names and numbers of several people should she need help and she did not take advantage of themShe never once hinted to us that there was an issue while we were awayShe accepted the job with enthusiasm, even after an overnight trial, and then neglected her responsibilities as a pet and house sitter Given the substantial evidence of neglect plus the confession of not staying in the house multiple nights, we can deduce that she did not provide the service that was promised to usRover and the sitter are unwilling to work with us on a refundRover claims they are only a third party; you can book based on reviews of a sitter and you must pay through them, but they assume no responsibility when a sitter does not do their job/neglects your home and animals We recommend NEVER booking with ROVER.COMWe are heartbroken for our babies

Hi ***, I am sorry that you’ve rejected our previous responseIf there is anything that we can do to help resolve this situation, please don’t hesitate to reach out and let us knowI know how frustrating that it is to have to deal with a sitter canceling at the last minute and can only say how sorry we are that you had this experienceI also want to say that this is far from the Rover experience, in fact, less than 0.02% of all stays are cancelled by the sitter at the last minuteAgain, if there is anything that we can do for you, please let us knowAll the best,Jenni S

Wow, I'm horrified looking to see that I am not alone in our TERRIBLE experience with a Rover dog sitterAs others have stated, this company has absolutely no follow-through when it comes to issues with a sitterOur dog sitter had a party in our home including drug use, ignored our dogs, and had sex in our bedYepA nice guest room and two full bathrooms are provided, but for some reason hanging out with friends and a "male guest" in our master bed and bath was more appealing? We have a doggie cam (disclosed to the sitter) in our master bedroom, which is how we discovered these violationsOur additional interior camera in the main living area was mysteriously not recording during her stay, so we can only guess what else went on I contacted customer service to complain, and after back-and-forth communications, they completely stopped respondingWe were told to work directly with the sitter to resolve the issue, and I told them that wasn't acceptable, given the circumstancesAt that point, no response to additional emailsClearly their "service charge" is just for profit and not for any sort of protection or recourse for adverse eventsIt is also evident that they do not vet their sitters at all and I also agree that the reviews seem fake, given this sitter had a star rating Obviously we have discontinued using sitters on Rover and have told everyone we know to do the sameOur dogs are our family and were clearly not this sitter's priority or concern

I recently tried to book an overnight stay for my dog through Rover, only to have the reservation cancelled by the sitter last minute The company has a "Rover Reservation Guarantee" that their independent contractors and customer service agents skirt around I asked to make a payment to secure the dates but the sitter said to wait until drop offI'm new to this so I waited thinking that was protocol and now I don't have a sitter because she cancelled days outI contacted a number of sitters on the site that are marked as available but turns out they are not Sitters are not available for many reasons, one being returning clients aren't going through the Rover system to book so the dates aren't blocked out on the calendar when you do a searchClients end up paying cash so the company can't monitor how many dogs/cats are being watchedNot to mention the sitter keeps 100% of the payment vs going through Rover online booking The company guarantees finding a new sitter due to

I wanted to first and foremost express my sincere apologies about ***’s injuries from his recent stay with AshleySafety is our number one concern here at Rover and we are aware that ***’s care wasn’t up to our standards sitters typically provide; due to this, we were able to provide a full refund We also followed up with [redacted] about the nature of this stay as this is something we take very seriouslyPer our insurance policy, we take care of any costs that are incurred over $I do see that the vet costs were $140, so we wanted to cover half of the cost, so I will be refunding $towards your vet bills I know that that this whole situation had been frustrating and we truly hope [redacted] is feeling better!

We have been Rover clients for nearly two years and overall experience was fine until we had to submit a complaint Then, Rover handled things extremely poorly and unprofessionally We were out of state for the weekend and used a new sitter (highly rated on the Rover app) for drvisits We were very explicit via the app about the days and times for her to stop by for our two dogs She neglected to come in for one of the night visits, leaving our two dogs alone for over hours They missed a meal, medication, and (we saw later) urinated on the rug When we asked the sitter about it, she said she did come in, but this is in direct contrast to our security system log, camera (independent from the security system), and Rover's own app where sitters leave 'cards' containing updates We reported to Rover, shared all of our evidence including screenshots and video clips, and they only offered us a half refund This will only cover a fraction of the cost of getting our rug professionally cleaned, which we had to do because the urine had soaked in for nearly two daysGiven that we are long-time customers in good standing, it's terrifying to think how they would handle cases with any hint of ambiguity

We were visiting California and had out two dogs with us and needed someone to watch them I did a lot or research on Rover.com including Revdex.com, but also the personal reviews on each individual (highly recommend) we found one a wonderful person to watch our pets and I could not be happier I was skeptical at 1st but after using this service I would highly recommend Just do your homework way ahead of your stay and check several in the area and thru communication you will know with you own instinct this will be the right person for you! I know was in our case and will be happy to use again and happy to recommend this service

Hi [redacted] , We're deeply saddened about your dog’s passingAs pet parents ourselves, we can’t even imagine the heartache you and your family must be going through At Rover, dog safety is our top priorityUpon learning of the incident, our Trust and Safety team immediately launched an investigationWe know there's nothing we can do to bring your beloved dog back, but we will continue to work with you and help out in any way we canNo matter what, we're here to support you and your family during this incredibly difficult time All the best, Courtney

I had a similar experienceIt seems Rover cares more about their pocket book than about the welfare and safety of the dog sitter and the dogs that are being boarded for those that board pets in their homeI have been a sitter on Rover for over two years and recently had my account suspended due to ended a sit one night early due to a dog that was aggressive towards other dogsI was told by the owner that the dog got along with other dogs and the dog couldn't even get along with large sized five month puppies! Second case, I had a similar experience about a month or so before that of a similar owner who said her dog got along with other dogs too, but she told me her dog had never been boarded before and since I was familiar with her breed who tends to have anxiety I wanted to do a trial sit with the puppy I had at the house for a couple of hours to see how it would goWell, she brought the dog over and the dog tried to attack the puppy! So, I said it looks like your dog is too stressed in a boarding environment and is NOT good with other dogs(Hello! That is why I had done a trial sit/daycare)I offered the lady to board her dog alone at a higher rate or to sit in her home and care for the dog there, but she wasn't interestedBoth times, Rover didn't give me any feedback both times! They send you a survey after each cancellation which just asks you if you had a meet and greet and what happened and what would you do next timeThere is certainly no education from them telling you what you should do next time or whateverThey give you no warning that they are going to suspend your account or that you are doing anything wrongIn any event, due to those situations of turning away "aggressive dogs" Rover wanted to terminate their relationship with me as a 5-star sitter who has worked with them over yearsUnbelievable! In my spare time I sometimes volunteer with a local dog trainer so I know when a dog is displaying dangerous signs and the fact that they would rather I keep a dangerous dog in my house while stressing out the other pets that I'm suppose to be caring for is just not only ridiculous, but irresponsible! I told other pets sitters about this and one of my good clients who happens to also be a good friend of mine couldn't believe itIt just goes to show you that they care more about getting the bookings of the sits no matter what the cost isRover.com you should be ashamed of yourself!

I paid Rover and Rover paid my sitter to watch my dog My dog got sprayed by a skunk while in the care of the Rover sitter The sitter did not inform me he was sprayed while in her care and when I picked him up she did not inform me either I smelled the smell as soon as I got within feet of him I promptly took him to be groomed and it was confirmed he had been sprayed My dog has now incurred several grooming bills because of her negligence I asked her did she smell something and at first she said NO then later said yes she does have them in her yard She was negligence and my dog now smells horrendous and he still does I feel Rover is not taking responsibility for this action I paid Rover not her and I gave her a fresh smelling dog and got a funky smelling one back He is a Akita and big so grooming bills are not cheap and he needs to get additional services I spoke with a supervisor Erin R ID *** and he stated its not Rover's responsibility My dog was dama

On May 8th I became approved as a dog sitter / walker at Rover.comThat same day I went online to the Rover Store and order merchandise in order to promote my business I ordered business cards, door knob hangers, car magnets, etc My bank account was debited for the amount of the order that same day It is now over weeks later and I don't have any of the merchandise In the beginning when I contacted the company via the Rover Store web site, I got replies via email in a fairly short amount of time Now, my emails are going unanswered In addition, when I called the toll free number today to talk with someone in person, I had to leave a message I've contacted Rover.com about this several times and each time I was told that the Rover Store is separate from the them and they don't have control over it I find that unacceptable as [redacted] is producing merchandise with Rover.com's name on it and they have no control over timely production and deliveries? Usually when some

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: Your response is not true. My dog ate a sock, and the reason he died was due to the delay in care. Eating the sock wasn't fatal. If the sitter would have taken him to the vet when he stopped being able to walk, was lethargic, stopped eating,(or had even communicated those symptoms) etc then he would have survived. The reason he died was because of the duration the sock was in his intestines and the lack of reasonable action. If [redacted] had been taken sooner, surgery would not have been required and they would not have had to remove 70% of his intestines (a result of the sock working its way through his intestinal track over the time he went untreated.) The vet can confirm that they would have been able to remove the sock through his mouth had the appropriate action been taken by the sitter that I hired through you. The only reason my dog was eventually taken to the vet was because my friend (not the sitter) came over and the sitter was not there. My friend saw [redacted] and his dire condition and rushed him to the emergency room. [redacted] never recovered from the surgery. Sincerely, [redacted]

BEWARE! DO NOT USE this company! When the stuff hits the fan, you are on your own I hired one of their cat sitters for a 2-week visit while I went on vacationAs soon as I got back cat was vomiting and clearly sickI had to bring the cat to her regular doctor and subsequently to a hour emergency hospital because it was the weekendTotal cost to me : almost $2,I complained to Rover.com that according to all the doctors who saw my cat, the cause of the severe kidney infection, 7% dehydration, and hypovolemic shock was that the cat had been eating RANCID food for a PROLONGED period of timeRover.com denied the claim EVEN after I sent all the medical records and a strongly worded letter from my cat's vet regarding her condition They just would NOT accept responsibility for hiring an incompetent and irresponsible cat sitter who most likely did not show up for the visits except at the beginning and at the end when I was about to return Unless you have thousands of dollars to spare or don't care if your pet gets sick, DO NOT USE this company Otherwise you will have the same experience as I had Completely UNTRUSWORTHY!!!

Hi ***, Thanks for following upWe checked with our Trust & Safety team, and the claim that was opened has recently been resolved: You've been refunded in full and your insurance claim has been approved If you have additional questions and/or concerns, please call our Trust & Safety team directly at [redacted] They'd be happy to answer your questions and make sure you have everything you need All the best,

Signed up with Rover.com for a sitter that my dog could stay with in their home The sitter and I texted back and forth, I asked if there for a shady place for my dog while outside, she said they would be indoors most of the time, and yes there was some shade outsideWhen I took my dog to her house , the living room had a smell of pee, her dog was barking a lot, she put her in the garagemy dog was still very nervous and started to pee a little on her carpet, she never does thisI rushed her out the door she had taken her dog, the garage smelled like cat pee, and when I went out to the back yard, it was covered with dog poopI grabbed my dog and went back into the house and told Mariah (the sitter) that I cannot leave my dog hereI asked her, Don't you pick up your dog poop? She said it was her mom's houseI called Rover.com and explained why I did not leave my dogThey would only refund 1/of my money because it was passed the cancellation dateThat sitters house was not sanitary for my dog to stay inThey told me that's why they suggest a meet and greet before bookingDoesn't look good for a service that is suppose to have reliable sitters

We used Rover.com to board one of our dogs the wedding week. She came back with a severe cough that spread to all of our other pets. That's right, she came back with the flu. Long story short, I contacted the woman that at least one of her dogs are obviously ill and I contacted Rover who basically said "not our problem" while our vet bills pile in. She still shows as active on the app and has FIVE dogs with the illness.\ I deleted the app and wrote that experience off as a loss . The vet said that even with the vaccine, that the flu is still contagious so please be careful who you board your dogs with.
