A W A Collections Reviews (68)

As stated previously, if Ms. [redacted] has questions about the details mailed to her, or has proof of payment, she can contact the Automobile Club directly at the number they provided.

The account in question was assigned to AWA Collections 11/9/2012, at which time a first notice was sent to the same address as noted in the complaint. On 11/13/2012, Ms. [redacted] called and spoke to a representative at AWA and confirmed her address. On 12/26/2012, she made an online partial...

payment through the AWA website. On 7/16/2013, Ms. [redacted] called AWA and requested a letter so she could make a payment, and another letter was sent. On 1/7/2015, Ms. [redacted] called AWA and requested details for the account. AWA Collections verified the name, address, and SSN with the client information. Because this is a medical client and there are privacy concerns, the actual details were mailed to Ms. [redacted] by the client on 1/14/2015. If Ms. [redacted] still has concerns after reviewing the details, she can contact the client directly at they number they provide. The client will advise us of any changes.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
They never tired to contact me until I left several voicemails and finally got a call back. The lady I spoke to said "we do not get any information from any insurances, we only talk to the company that hired us." Well the company that was billing for the ER does not work with them anymore. Recently another company started working for them and they only give me the name of the collection agency not any information, but they admire that they did not bill my insurance and it was also their fault that the time limit for BOTH my insurances had passed. I explained to the collection agency that I could pay $100 then and I could make payment plans. The  representative  than stated "you can pay the total now or we can send you a letter and you can pay the total then. "I tried to set up a payment plan also which wasn't allowed according to her if I put money down now. I have received 1 letter from them and am waiting till later this week to mail it out. In full since apparently that's my only opinion.
Regards,
[redacted]

I apologize to [redacted] for the tone of the call. However, [redacted] was trying to provide information for another individual she believed to be responsible for the debt. [redacted] is the responsible party for this debt. She signed as the indemnitor. The collector did provide her name and...

extension, and a supervisor was available if needed.

I would like for this company to be removed from my credit report.

AWA Collections contacted the client OPEX, a phone service provider, to investigate this complaint.  This account was assigned to AWA Collections for delinquent phone charges and NSF fees for [redacted], with the same identifying information.  Upon review, due to the age of the...

charges and small balance, we have closed the account and requested that the credit bureaus delete it from her credit profile.

This account was assigned to AWA Collections on 10/16/14. There was no communications between AWA Collections and Mr. [redacted] until 3/16/16, when AWA received a cease and desist letter, with Mr. [redacted] thinking this was a Verizon account. (Possibly that is who he spoke to as referenced in the...

complaint.) As a cease and desist, AWA Collections could only send him the details for this account. This account represents the remaining premium for a bail bond where he was the defendant. On 3/17/16, copies of all signed documents were obtained from the client, [redacted], and mailed to Mr. [redacted] at the address he provided in his dispute letter. No further communication is allowed, unless he provides sufficient evidence that this is not his debt.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Review: AWA Collection Company has violated the the bankruptcy courts (STAY) by pursuing this and adding it on my credit report when the ACCOUNT has been included in a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Case, I have also mailed a letter as well. This needs to be corrected or my attorney will have to get involved.Desired Settlement: Account should be removed entirely from my credit report since it is in violation of the (STAY) issued by the Federal Bankruptcy court.

Response:

We are in receipt of the complaint to the Revdex.com received from Mr. [redacted]. I have investigated the matter and closed the account. A request has been sent to all three credit bureaus to delete the information. We do screen accounts for possible bankruptcy, however there were two issues in this case. The client transposed the consumer's Social Security Number, and the bankruptcy was filed under the name [redacted].I apologize for any inconvenience caused by this matter. Please forward this information to Mr. [redacted], as we are unable to contact him directly, due to the bankruptcy. If you have any questions, or need any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at [redacted] Compliance Officer

Review: This is company is trying to collect a debt from me that I do not owe. They purchased a debt from [redacted] Texas [redacted]=$170.00. On 9/27/14 I called [redacted] to compare their automobile and homeowner's insurance rates to my current insurance company's ( Liberty [redacted]) rates. The biggest mistake I made was giving [redacted] my financial institution information before looking over the policies quotes. After the policies information was emailed to me and I looked over it and realized the insurance really wasn't that cheap, I declined the insurance offers via email on 9/27/14. Therefore, my checking account should have never been charged. However, I found out on 10/1/14 that $170.00 was deducted from my checking account for automobile insurance after I declined the insurance offer. I immediately notified [redacted] on 10/8/14 via email and they refunded my money. I get a letter dated 11/25/14 from [redacted] Texas that stated their company does not wish to charge me for any duplicate coverage. However, the [redacted] Insurance Company does expect to be paid the premium for the period during which insurance company coverage was provided. I faxed them my [redacted] Auto Policy Declaration Page which shows my Renewal auto policy effective date of 10/5/14 & the prior policy showing coverage date from 10/5/13 - 10/5/14. I faxed the company again on 3/23/15 the same information. Still they refused to acknowledge receipt of the information. Spoke with [redacted] in [redacted] collection department several times about the issue. He stated they never received the fax. However, I contacted [redacted] @ [redacted] today and was told by customer service that Abbot R. Purcell - Collection Supervisors did received the information back in March 2015 and they don't know what happened. I contacted AWA at [redacted] about the issue on 8/20/15 & 8/26/15 and was told by [redacted] that they contacted [redacted] on 8/20/15 about the faxed I sent them and they haven't receive a responseDesired Settlement: To have negative collection information remove from my credit reports ASAP. My credit has been ruin because of false information. Also, I would love to receive letters from both AWA Collections and [redacted] that I do not owe either companies any money.

Business

Response:

AWA Collections is a third party collection agency for the [redacted]. AWA Collections does not purchase any debt, but works directly for the client. AWA received Ms. [redacted]'s fax on 8/20/15 and sent an inquiry to AAA. On 8/28/15, AWA received a notice from AAA to close and return Ms. [redacted]'s account as the balance was not due. AWA sent a notice to all three credit bureaus to delete all references to this account. A confirmation letter is being sent to Ms. [redacted] for her records. AWA Collections regrets any inconvenience caused in this matter.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Regards,

Review: In June, 2015 I entered a written dispute with AWA COLLECTION reference account number [redacted] as contained on my consumer credit profile at [redacted], [redacted] and [redacted]. Specifically alleged, AWA COLLECTION was attempting to collect a debt for which I had no knowledge and alleged was potentially opened by an unknown third party. Moreover, said account was appearing twice on my consumer credit profile notwithstanding the allegation of a single debt owed.

AWA COLLECTION failed to investigate, verify, or validate said debt. Although I also filed a cease and desist demand with AWA COLLECTION an absolute requirement of the Fair Credit Reporting Act is to report said debt as disputed pending resolution of an investigation. AWA COLLECTION failed to report said debt as disputed and failed to conduct an investigation into my allegations of potential fraud. As such, my credit worthiness has been negatively impacted by the erroneous reporting of this account.

A review of records compiled by the state Division of Financial Services in [redacted] indicates that AWA COLLECTION is not currently licensed to conduct business pursuant to section 559, [redacted] statute. As such, the imposition of this debt and the erroneous reporting to [redacted], [redacted] and [redacted] is an unfair and deceptive trade practice.

Several phone calls to AWA COLLECTION have met upon deaf ears. When I called to inquire on the status of the disputed account, I was advised that [redacted] licensing was not required. I was further advised that the debt remained due notwithstanding a lack of validation and claim of potential fraud. At this point the call was terminated. My written dispute remains outstanding. Said account remains on my [redacted], [redacted] and [redacted] notwithstanding the existence of a dispute, lack of validation, and my allegations of potential fraud.Desired Settlement: Deletion of the offending AWA COLLECTION collection account from my credit report at the [redacted], [redacted] and [redacted] consumer reporting agencies.

Business

Response:

[redacted] originally had two accounts with AWA Collections. The first was paid in 2010. Both accounts were assigned by a medical client for for storage of genetic materials. The account in question is for three years of annual storage. The client stated there are additional amounts due, that have not been assigned to an outside collection agency. [redacted] needs to contact the client directly and sign their document if she chooses to change her storage agreement or dispose of the materials. Her original signed agreement and statement of charges were attached to our response to her complaint to the CFPB, along with the client telephone number to call. [redacted] requested that AWA Collections cease all communications. The account is being reported to the credit bureaus as 'in dispute.' AWA Collections has been a licensed collection agency in [redacted] since 2002.

Review: I called AWA as I have a negative on my credit report for them. I called to resolve it. My credit report is stating $407. AWA is stating it I have to pay $533. The employees were extremely rude and did not want to help with anything.Desired Settlement: I will pay the $407 as due but I want that to be it and for it to be off of my credit report.

Business

Response:

We are in receipt of your complaint to the Revdex.com regarding this account. This account was assigned to AWA Collections in 8/2011.and the appropriate notice was sent to your current address on [redacted]. at that time. The balance has remained unpaid.AWA Collections will accept the original assigned atmount of $406.99 as Payment in Full for the account, but it will remain at the credit bureaus as a Paid Collection Account. If you have any questions, or need any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact our office at [redacted].

Review: Imagine my surprise as we try to adopt to find out that not only has my doctor billed me for a doctor's visit that should have been covered 100% through our military health insurance, BUT more importantly, the account was passed to this collection agency A YEAR AGO. I've had NO contact from this agency by phone, email or mail. I've had the same phone number and email address for over a decade and forwarded our mail when we moved last July. They've ruined my credit without doing their job-- which was to contact me in an attempt to collect this debt, at which time I could have paid until the doctor got it straight. Instead, they effected my credit with no contact to collect. I am concerned for my credit and how this will effect our lives, but I am also appalled that a company hired to collect a debt can have such an impact without doing their job. There has to be some way to hold this company accountable for their actions when they can have such a devastating effect on people's lives.Desired Settlement: ~I'd like to have the opportunity to dispute this bill with the doctor's office directly and to be allowed time for that dispute to either be dropped or to pay the amount without penalty.

~I'd like this collection agency to correct my credit report to reflect that I was unaware of this debt, never contacted and was billed incorrectly

~I'd like this collection agency to be held accountable for not adhering to the professional practice of contacting the people they effect to give them a chance to pay/dispute and for potential businesses considering this company to know they don't actually do their jobs with the exception of ruining client's credit. To wield that much power yet not be ethical about how they conduct business is an insult to all involved.

Business

Response:

AWA Collections received placement of this account on 7/18/2014, and sent the first notice to Ms. [redacted] on 7/21/2014, and it would have been forwarded if she moved in July 2014 Calls were made the the telephone number she cites on 7/30/2014 and 9/17/2014. Additional calls were placed to a alternate number provided to the client. AWA Collections contacted the doctor's office and was told that the insurance covered the date of service 11/18/2013, but insurance denied the claim for service provided on 11/6/2013. Ms. [redacted] can contact her insurance carrier and investigate the reason for denial and obtain an EOB. AWA Collections will be happy to remove any interest and delete the account from the credit bureaus, once the matter is resolved.

Review: The collection agency put a unpaid bill that belonged to my 26 year old son on our credit report. When I called and explained this was not my bill and that I wasn't responsible for my sons medical bills past the age of 18 and requested they take it off. First they said I was responsible for his balance because he was on my Insurance. I explained that he was under my insurance due to Obama care. I asked again that they remove this and they stated that we would have to write them and show proof of his age, which they had his date of birth from the bill that was sent to them. I feel like this is unfair and deceptive business practices.Desired Settlement: WE CONTACTED THE MEDICAL FACILITY THAT SENT THEM THE BILL FOR COLLECTIONS AND THEY ADVISED THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE LISTED THIS ON OUR CREDIT REPORT AND SHOULD HAVE TAKEN IT OFF IMMEDIATELY ONCE THEY REALIZED THEIR ERROR. THESE PEOPLE WERE SO RUDE AND OBNOXIOUS THEY HUNG UP ON ME AND SAID THE ONLY WAY THEY WOULD REMOVE IS DO A LETTER PROVING MY SON'S DATE OF BIRTH.

Business

Response:

We are in receipt of your complaint to the Revdex.com regarding this account, We contacted our client and they indicated that the service was for [redacted]. The date of birth they have for [redacted] is 12/19/1997, which would have made him 15 at the date of service. Due to the confidential nature of the documents, you may go to the hospital and they will give you a copy of the records. If the medical facility says that this is in error, they need to contact the billing group. When our collector spoke to you on 9/25/2014, you indicated you were willing to pay the balance in full if it was deleted from your credit reports. There was no indication that the balance was disputed at that time. We have notated the account now as ‘In Dispute' and will wait to hear from our client as to the disposition. If you have any questions, or need any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact our office at [redacted].

Review: I have made a payment and AWA refuses to furnish me with a receipt.

I can provide my proof of payment and they agree that I have paid my collection.

However they will not furnish me a receipt with the Dollar amount and Date paid.Desired Settlement: I want a receipt for my transaction. With the total paid and date. with AWA's company letterhead on it.

Business

Response:

This matter pertains to a debt from 2009, which Mr. [redacted] paid on 11/5/2015 with a credit card, in the amount of $95.47. His credit card statement serves as his receipt. On 11/6/15, the credit bureaus were notified to remove this account from his profile, and a confirmation letter was sent to the same address as posted in this complaint. On 12/2/15, he called and stated he did not receive the letter and a second letter was requested to be mailed to him. He confirmed the address. We do not issue receipts. His credit card statement will show our business name, date, and amount paid. Mr. [redacted] continues to harass our employees for a receipt. Further such actions on his part may result in AWA Collections filing a police report.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,

Review: Oka basically I have tried to contact this company about a debt I've had for awhile. This process has been an ongoing deal since they never sent me any form of communication saying my account was in collections. This is regarding a hospital bill and what kept holding the bill up was my two insurances never got billed to begin with. So however many years later I'm stuck paying this that the only reason I knew I had was on credit karma. Now every time I try to call them I get no direct answer the process of my case or the amount of debt I have I just get "it can take several weeks for them to get back to us" who is them? I just need to know who to pay. This has affected my credit severely and I steadily try to get answers but got hung up on last time I called. I feel like there is no communication with me at all and I never get answers.Desired Settlement: I would like someone to email me an explanation on why no one can give me answers but can sure contact the credit agency. Also I would like to know why I was never informed of this bill and why my insurances where never billed either. I honestly do not feel like I should owe anyone since my insurances where never billed. That's their fault not mine.

Business

Response:

AWA Collections has been in contact with this consumer since 5/13/15. The client sent the itemization requested to her on 5/28/15. [redacted] stated that she would start making payments on the balance once she received the letter and details.

Review: This agency recently just posted a medical collections on my credit file. I have no knowledge of this debt and never received notification regarding any medical debt or given the opportunity to ask for validity. Also there are conflicting balancesDesired Settlement: I am requesting this item be removed from credit file immediatly also I need a letter sent

Business

Response:

On 4/9/14, AWA Collections received the CFPB complaint and

opened an investigation. Our records indicate a first notice was sent to the

consumer on 1/31/14, to [redacted]. It was

forwarded to [redacted] based on a forwarding notice. On

4/14/14, AWA Collections received a letter from the consumer requesting

validation. AWA Collections contacted the client and received the signed

documents. These have been sent to the consumer for her records.

AWA Collections received communication from our client, the original creditor, that the consumer had contacted them directly on 4/11/14 and is making payments to them. There will be no further contact attempts by AWA Collections.

Review: AWA Collections collected on a large balance from me that was sent to them from [redacted] Medical Group (this was sent while payments were being made to [redacted]). Even though I've received no written correspondence, under the threat of having it put on a credit report, I paid the balance in full. I was then promised a letter showing that the balance is paid. They instead sent a letter saying that account number xxxx is paid and will not be reported. There was no reference to a date of service, a balance (previous or current) or even what I paid. I emailed them about it and they responded with nothing but their phone number. Since they refuse to put ANYTHING in writing, I believe they have dishonest intentions and am still left with nothing to show that I paid the [redacted] bill. They also called me trying to collect on the same bill after it was paid. While I was assured this was a mistake and wouldn't affect me, they again refused to put that in writing.Desired Settlement: I want a letter from AWA that reflects what my original balance was, what it is now (zero), and what the balance was for ([redacted] Medical Group with date of service referenced). Additionally, I want a letter reflecting the removal of the duplicate bill, as they're willing to state as such was done on the phone, it shouldn't be a problem to put in writing, assuming they're telling the truth.

Business

Response:

Attached is a copy of the letter emailed to the consumer, at his request, on 1/9/2014. A duplicate account had been assigned by the client, but it was closed as soon as the error was identified. I provided my contact information, but have not heard from him since the letter was sent.

Review: On July 18,2014 I paid a collection to AWA collections at which time this company advised that it would immediately remove the debt. I did receive a letter from this company stating that it was going to be removed. I called this office on 8/5/14 and was advised that this process could take 30-45 days to handle. This company was advised that I was in the process of purchasing a home and that I was advised that this would be removed immediately. On 8/6/2014 I spoke with credit agencies Equifax and Transunion who stated that they received no information to remove this collection. Today I spoke to AWA collection who stated "show them the letter". This agent stated again that this could take 30-45 days. I find this to be an extensive period of time for them to notify the credit bureaus as I am in dire need to have this removed and other creditors that were paid after this were removed timely.Desired Settlement: remove collection from Equifax and Transunion credit file.

Business

Response:

AWA Collections submits updated files to the credit bureaus at the beginning of each month. Once submitted, AWA Collections does not control how long it takes the credit bureaus to update their files. AWA Collections cannot guarantee a date when their file will be processed, and provides the consumers with letters indicating the information will be removed. Consumers are advised this at the time of payment.

This account was assigned to AWA Collections on 7/8/2012. The consumer was aware of the account and filed a dispute on 11/26/2012, and the account was updated to the bureaus as 'in dispute.' She called to pay the account on 7/17/2014. The update to the bureaus was sent on 8/4/2014, and the account was removed on 8/7/2014.

Review: From 2/2013, I paid a copay to my insurance company [redacted] They did not update their records so now I have AWA Collections on my credit report.

They never sent me a notice and they knew I was working with my insurance company.

I called they refuse to send my any information. They were rude and unproffesional on the phone.

They said they can report me to the credit bureaus without notifying me.

They abuse their power and refuse to send me any bill.Desired Settlement: They are abusive and seek to destroy

Business

Response:

On 10/2/2014, [redacted] was sent the required First Notice letter, indicating the account may be submitted to the credit bureaus if not resolved. This was sent to the same address she provided on this complaint. On 10/15/14, she was contacted by a representative from AWA Collections, and indicated she would only deal directly with the client. To date, four months later, the matter has not been resolved. Upon receipt of payment, or notification from the client that the matter has been resolved through them, the item will be cleared from the credit bureaus.

[redacted] was notified of the possible credit reporting. AWA Collections did not refuse to send documentation or a bill. [redacted] stated on both occasions when speaking to a representative that she would only deal with the client directly. The representative stated that the account had been turned over to AWA Collections because the client was no longer handling the matter.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[It was a lie, [redacted] at AWA Collections told me rudely and unprofessionally on the phone that she will not send me anything and I have never received anything. She said that "I don't need to send anything to you to report to the credit bureaus". Her exact words. This will not be resolved until it is cleared from all credit bureaus and I have a letter stating so as proof. I have been dealing with my doctors' office because I am a patient of theirs.]
