Birmingham News will not stop leaving advertising flyers on my driveway. I have called their main number at least 3 times in the past 6 mos.
I have been receiving flyers in my driveway when I was never a Birmingham News subscriber. They come almost daily. I have to walk and pick them up and throw them in the recycle bin. I called months ago and they told me it woiuld take a few weeks to get changed. I waited and it was never changed. I called 5/27/2020 again to stop it, and they assured me it would get stopped. It didn't. I called again today on 6/1/2020 to stop it, and the rep said they saw what happened. He said the prior complaints were forwarded to a supervisor and the supervisor never addressed it or stopped it. He assured me that it would be stopped as of today. I hope so. Also my next door neighbor, who has left her house unoccupied for over 10 years, keeps getting the flyers and I have to pick up many of those. Those also need to stop. None of these flyers should be left in driveways unless the customer requests them. I was never a paying subscriber to the Birmingham News since I moved to this house in 1998. This is a waste of paper as well as plastic, not to mention a public safety issue because when on vacation thieves are alerted when no one is home because of all the piled up advertisements in the driveway. I am close to legal action.

Desired Outcome

I want the advertisements to stop to my address as well as to the empty house of my neighbor's which has an *** street address (next to mine). I have no way of contacting her and like I said her home has been empty for over 10 years.

Frank B our District Manager over the area couldn't get in touch with the customer and could only leave voicemails. I asked him to send an email today and let the customer know we have talked with the carrier to stop the two addresses and will be following in behind the carrier to verify this. These should be stopped and have been entered in our do not deliver database. Frank also left his information in case the customer ever had a problem again.

I accept their response since deliveries have finally stopped. The neighbor is still getting them however. Respondent assures me he will have those stopped too since house bv unoccupied & others like me are left picking them up.

I have ask the Birmingham News three (3) times not to throw the sales paper in
drive way or my lawn.
The Birmingham News refuse to stop throwing the sales paper in drive way.
I have ask three times, Please stop. There is no one home to pick up the paper.

This could cause a break in at my home.

Desired Outcome

Please ask the Birmingham News to STOP the delivery of the sales paper.

Gwen P our District Manager talked to customer and gave him her contact information. Customer upset because he states customer service representative was rude. Explained to him my plan and he's good with it. Customer service representative make promises and do not pass information along is the reason this issue went this far. It's taken care of now. Changed in ANS to a VIP DND.

We cannot get Birmingham News to stop delivering the Birmingham Extra after many attempts.
We have been receiving the Birmingham News Extra for 13 years at our address. We have requested many times over this period for them to hold our mail while on vacation. We cannot get them to stop delivery. We ask the Revdex.com for assistance.

Desired Outcome

We need the Birmingham News to stop delivering the Birmingham Extra.

I just spoke with Mr. and collected the pertinent information to get all deliveries stopped. He is currently receiving delivery of the YES! and Bham Life.
There is a single request in Carrier Track on Jan. 3, 2020 to stop delivery. He informed me that he has been sending email request for the past 13 years to request delivery be stopped. I don't recall ever seeing a stop request for this address.
I will check the YES! delivery status and get it updated if needed also. I will speak to the carrier to make sure all deliveries are stopped. I will ask for a photo of non-delivery for both products going forward until the customer is satisfied that the issue has been resolved.
I informed Mr. I would check back with him going forward to make sure deliveries are stopped. He agreed to call me if he continues to receive any deliveries. He has all of my information so we can continue to remain in contact until all issues are resolved.

We have over the last 13 years requested hold on our papers but they will not honor our request. We live under a HOA and will get fined for these papers in our yard. We fully retired last year and spend six months away from home. We have requested them to stop our papers but they will not. We have spoken to management numerous times. We have sent many requests to their online site. We have never given them permission to deliver these papers. They take it upon themselves to do what they please. They also deliver the Sunday papers when they want to. We have neighbors pick up the papers while we are out of town. We have apologized many times to our neighbors that we cannot stop these deliveries. We thank them over and over for protecting us from fines.

We have spoken to our neighbors and we all agree that nothing can be done. We agree that it is impossible to get them to stop. The carrier gets rewarded on the volume of papers delivered and they force the papers on us.

We have been promised by their management many times with no result to our problem. We thank the Revdex.com for your assistance. We are satisfied with the company's response but wanted to express our feelings.

We are happy and grateful for the great service the Revdex.com provides.

They have continued to litter my yard with their paper. I have unsubscribed in every way they have available multiple times over the last 4 years.
This started in 2016. Despite contacting them several times asking them to stop, unsubscribing and even waiting up two different times to confront the person throwing the paper in my yard, it is still happening. The police will not ticket them for littering. Their business practice is tenacious in forcing me to walk out and pick up their trash and throw it away twice a week. Let me be clear, I have never subscribed, wanted or asked for their paper. I have called 4 different times staying on hold for 45 minutes trying to resolve this only twice being able to get through and actually talk to someone who assured me it would stop. I have been in touch with the circulation dept via email, *** (***@advancelocal.com) who referred me to *** (***@advancelocal.com) who is the district manager whom is over my area, and still I am forced to pick up their litter (paper). I am at a loss as to who protects us from these kinds of business practices. Given that I have completed everything they have asked me to do several times, this business practice is harassment and something needs to be done. If not you, please advise me. I have filed a complaint with the FTC and waiting on their reply as well as sending an email to my Senator Mo Brooks.
Thank you for reviewing this complaint of harassment and littering

Desired Outcome

I want them to stop forever.

We have confirmed address is on "do not deliver" list and we've talked with the contractor not to deliver anything to this address. We confirmed on Sunday 5/3 nothing was delivered and will continue to spot check that nothing is delivered to this address from the Huntsville Times.

I have a subscription with the Birmingham News, and delivery of paper is always late or not at all.
I've reported to the Birmingham News costomer service several time about the delivery issues. Paper is always late or don't come at all.

Repeated distribution of Birmingham Life advertising all over street, lawn, driveway despite innumerable calls and requests to stop.
Over the past year, I have made countless requests to stop littering my property with unwanted and unsolicited advertisements published by the Birmingham Life. Each week I speak with a customer service representative who assures me this practice will stop. Just to make the complaint typically requires considerable time. It is absurd that this practice continues week after week. Frequently, the trash is thrown right next to the trash left from the previous week.

Desired Outcome

Stop distributing unwanted solicitation and litter on my property.

Our District Manager Umar Janjua talked with Mr. and gave him all of his contact info and assured him it wouldn't be delivered to his house but we would still deliver to the neighborhood unless those folks call in. I was contacted by district manager, informing me that was his first notification of the problem. He readily completed my request. I suspect the multitude of my other requests were sent to some email which were never seen.

The Huntsville Times Life newspaper keeps getting thrown into my yard. I did not subscribe to that paper
I have emailed, called and texted and was assured it would stop. It hasn't. I am on a scooter and have to go into my yard to get that pink wrapped paper full of ads that goes directly into the garbage. It stops for a few weeks and the. Starts right back up. I just want it stopped. When I call I am told oh it has a lot of great ads and coupons. I don't care. I want it stopped. Our HOA has even told them to stop coming and dropping those off bless we specifically subscribed to it. I am not sure if anyone did but I know I didn't. And there was a blue car this morning throwing them out again. All of my neighbors got that sodden piece of newspaper thrown in their yard. Please make it stop

Desired Outcome

Stop delivering those to my address

Alabama Media Group Response • Apr 28, 2020

We've talked with the contractor who was delivering and informed him to stop. We've also sent an email and called with information for the resident to contact us if it ever happens to be delivered again. Customer is permanently on our weekly "do not deliver" list.

Tried unsuccessfully for 3 months to cancel a newspaper subscription. I am thankful I paid by the year and no auto deducting from my bank. Scammers!
I have tried numerous times to cancel the *** subscription starting third week of Nov 2019 when my yearly subscription ended. I see in online complaints this is a real problem with this newspaper company. I do not know why they continued to send me a newspaper after Nov 2019 cancellation request. I went ahead and paid an additional statement of 23.61 in Dec & that check cleared the bank on Dec 31, even after I had tried on 2 different occasions to cancel before this date. I was sent an additional statement after speaking to Customer Service Huntsville AL office in Jan but I will no longer pay them anything. When Huntsville office finally cancelled it I received another statement saying cancelled for non payment. WHAT?? I guess the Times thinks if they continue to bill you, you will pay even after you cancelled in November 2019. Well, not me!! They will never again receive any service from me!

Desired Outcome

It would be nice to receive back the extra 23.61 I paid after cancelling my original subscription and I never want to have to deal with this company again. I am not sure WHY they try to get extra money from people that cancel their subscriptions.

Alabama Media Group Response • Feb 04, 2020

The account was stopped in the system on 1/13/20. I've forwarded the request for a refund of 19.61 to CSR.

I have not received delivery of my paid subscription of the Mobile Press Register for over a week.
I have not received my newspaper (mobile press register) in over a week! this has been an ongoing issue for at least 6mths and each time I contact customer service I am assured that there will be a paper delivered later the same day, however, that NEVER happens! I've also been told that I would receive a credit on my account for the numerous papers I never receive (including the $4 Black Friday paper) yet again that NEVER happens! I enjoy reading the newspaper, especially on Sundays, and is quite disappointing that I pay A LOT of my hard earned money for the yearly subscription and only receive it about half the time:(
the customer service representatives treat me as if I am an annoying ie each time I am forced to call and report non-delivery. I live alone and am quite isolated, I am not computer proficient so I very much look forward to and depend on receiving my paper!!!

Desired Outcome

I would live to receive my PAPER ON TIME EVERY WEDNESDAY, FRIDAY AND SUNDAY! I would also like a partial reimbursement or credit for the numerous copies I never received!

This business continues to throw plastic-wrapped paper in my driveway every Monday morning. It looks like a bunch of sales papers. I have asked them to stop. My neighbors have complained as well. The only response is to automatically send me emails "We are in receipt of your request. A representative will address your concern as soon as possible." I do not understand why this unsolicited trash in my yard is not considered littering. Not only that, it reveals when I am not home and presents a threat to my property.

Desired Outcome

Simply quit throwing this trash in my yard every week.

This address has just been added to the "do not deliver" list. The contractor and district manager have been made aware to confirm delivery will not happen anymore at this address. I have also personally emailed customer with our direct information in case any unwanted deliveries do happen.

Frequent non delivery of newspaper. When contact Customer Service, end up dealing with automated system which tells me it has registered my complaint.
At 4-5 times / month, have non delivery of newspaper. As I work out of town, my wife often doesn't make a complaint however when I am home, I do make the Customer service dept aware of missed deliveries via automated system and am told account will be credited. I also, if calling on the actual missed date, am given the option to have the paper redelivered and am assured that will be done when I ask for redelivery. Again on 03 January, I called, was assured paper would be redelivered and I never received a newspaper. As they only publish 3 days / week this is even more frustrating that I cannot reliably receive a newspaper for the price I am forced to pay. I have spoken with Customer Service Managers on several occasions in past but have yet been unable to resolve this issue.

Desired Outcome

I would like to be contacted by someone at AL News Group who can actually resolve the issue and will do more than just apologize and assure me that the problem will be taken care of (as so far , this has occurred and the problem continues ! )

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I am,since filing this complaint, receiving newspapers on the days I should. I have yet to receive any contact from the Press Register or Alabama Media directly. I am unsure how Mr Hardy has attempted to contact me as I have not received any phone calls, e-mails or letters. I am unsure what telephone number he may have tried calling as I show no missed calls (or any voice mails from anyone representing the Press Register / Alabama Media Group) on my home phone or cell phone. I also had filed a complaint via the Press Register Customer Service e-mail system about the same time I notified the Revdex.com. To date, no one has had the courtesy to even acknowledge the Customer Service issues, let alone offer any response! My e-mail and cell phone numbers WERE provided in that complaint.

To date, I have failed to receive any answer to my concern regarding repeatedly being advised by the automated customer service system that my paper would be redeliver on those days I contacted them during designated service times. On those dates, I never received that newspaper nor was there any attempt to contact me to advise otherwise.

The only contact I have received from the newspaper so far was a note in the bag with my paper carrier providing me his name and a phone number to contact him should I not receive my paper in future. I truly appreciate the effort on his part and will gladly contact him directly should I have issues in future. Of note, I appreciate his effort to ensure the paper is serviceable when I receive it as that was a major problem with the previous carrier. As to his statement that he did deliver the paper on the most recent date which triggered this complaint, he states he went back at 6:30 and checked and it was still in my driveway. I am not sure what happened to the paper in the interval between then and the time I went out to get it but it wasn't anywhere to be found at that time. The possibility that my newspaper is getting stolen has entered my mind in past (and apparently ***'s as well since he apparently goes back later and says he verifies I have a newspaper)however; as I never received a response or any re-delivery previously, it was difficult to consider this a valid possibility.

I realize unintentional issues with delivery occur. My issue at this point is not at the carrier level. My concern is the , what appears to be obvious disinterest, at the management level to respond to issues that are raised and at least talk to the customer about repeated issues (such as paper not being re-delivered when the customer is advised it will be). Had I been told , with the most recent episode, that the paper WOULD NOT be re-delivered, I could have purchased a replacement while I was out running errands rather than getting back home at 5 PM, finding the paper still had not arrived and having to go back out and search various stores to find a copy!

At the risk of being repetitious, I understand delivery issues occur and am grateful for the carrier's (***)efforts to provide a dry newspaper after having problems with receiving saturated , unusable newspapers every time it rained from the carrier before him. That issue was eventually resolved by the VP For Customer Service based in Baton Rouge as the Local customer service staff in Mobile also didn't bother to respond to my repeated complaints and concerns. I do not feel it is representative of a responsible corporation to give all indications possible of having no interest in responding to customer service issues or making any attempt to rectify issues that area raised. Their actions, or lack thereof, reinforce the fact that they have no competition in the Mobile area and therefore do not have to provide customer service as the consumer has no viable alternative.

I truly appreciate the carrier's effort to take control of the situation and provide me an option to resolve missed deliveries, should that occur in the future. He has done more on behalf of customer service for Press Register than anyone in their customer service department! It is unfortunate that it required making a complaint to the Revdex.com for the carrier to be made aware that I was having repeated problems (which according to him involve the paper disappearing after delivery).

Trouble Cancelling Subscription
They insist that you call to cancel....they will not accept an email request. I called once in October and once in November to request cancellation. Today I see yet another charge on my Checking Account.

If I put a stop payment on the draft my bank will charge me to do so.

I would like for them to cancel my subscription as requested and refund the charge made to my account today, 12/4/2019.

It is as if they think if they make it difficult one might give up. Thank you for anything you can do to help me.

Desired Outcome

Cancel Subscription and Refund the most recent charge.

Won't stop delivering Huntsville Life after several calls and emails
I have the same complaint as *** his review here. I too have called and submitted emails and they won't stop delivering "Huntsville Life". Weekly my yard is littered with advertisements in a plastic bag from the Huntsville Times. This is just a red flag that tells anyone whether I am home or away! I am placing a formal complaint with the Revdex.com. Stop delivering this "trash"!!

Desired Outcome

I want an email or something in writing assuring me the deliveries will be STOPPED. Do NOT call me... I want a written response. I want the NAME, PHONE NUMBER and EMAIL address of a member of management who I can contact if I encounter any issues after this supposedly is corrected. Your company has a very poor record of honoring your customers' requests.

Alabama Media Group Response • Oct 15, 2019

This business promptly responded to my complaint and provided the names, phone numbers and contact information of those individuals responsible for ensuring the deliveries will cease. Hopefully the issue has been or soon will be resolved.

Unwanted littering in my driveway
I am not a subscriber to the Huntsville Times (I canceled years ago when they laid off most of their staff, including one of my friends), and I still repeatedly get newspapers and ads thrown in my driveway. I have called multiple times to be put on the do not deliver list, and nothing changes, despite verbal assurances. I sent an email request today, but I'm complaining here because I am so frustrated. Reading prior complaints, I see this is typical.

I don't want this litter in my driveway. I travel often for work and you are putting me at risk for robbery. If I do get robbed because of this, I will sue.

I'm not the only person who is upset about this. I'm seriously considering organizing a boycott of businesses that advertise with you, until this unethical littering all over our city stops. You are polluting with the plastic wrappers and wasting trees.

Desired Outcome

Stop littering my driveway completely-- no products from your company.

Repeated requests to stop delivery of unrequested FAMILY LIFE Huntsville Times.
Contacted by phone in May, June and July to STOP placing the Family Life paper in yard.

In May prior to vacation called and was assured paper would NOT be delivered. Papers were thrown in yard and piled up for a month. Neighbor attempted to remove some papers to deter unwanted burglars.

In June, called again requesting paper to be stopped and was assured it would stop.
In July called again and was told the message wold be sent to them, but no guarantee it would be stopped.

Desired Outcome

Action: Contact responsible delivery person to STOP throwing these papers in the yard. Business to be held accountable.

Confirmed with carrier not to deliver this address anymore and added this to the "do not deliver" list. Attempted to contact ***, left message and will continue to call until contact is made. Will have a representative drive by house to confirm delivery is not made over the next couple weeks

Received first response, voicemail from *** ? (XXX-XXX-XXXX) on 7/31/2019. Stated: 'will add name to do not deliver list, and inform carrier to stop delivery'. Also stated he will come by house to check if a delivery was made today and retrieve paper, but doesn't know exact day deliveries are made.
Cannot confirm delivery problem resolved, until I see that deliveries are made on this street and not at my house.

Tricked into signing up for sub. I was told you can try for a month and cancel anytime. I have tried to cancel and they continue to take money.
On Black Friday of 2017 Mobile Press Register has a table set up outside of ***'s in Spanish Fort. They were offering gift cards if you signed up to "try" the newspaper. I was told it would be a one time charge of $10 for a month to "try" the subscription in return I would receive a $10 gift card to ***'s. After a few months I realized it was not just a one time charge and logged on to al media website to cancel. They make it very difficult to cancel. You can't just click a button and say stop. Their hours of operation are the same as my work hours so it was hard to catch them open. I sent several emails with no response. They continue to take money and deliver papers. In October of 2018 (almost a year later) they stopped delivery of papers. I thought then that maybe my subscription was over finally. Then I noticed that a $15 monthly charge was coming out. I emailed again and no response. Finally I was able to get someone on the phone in Feb of 2019. I tried to explain what was happening. That I never wanted the paper to begin with, that I had not received a paper in months but that they were still charging me, and that I no longer authorized them to take funds from my account and to stop immediately. Instead of stopping the charge to my account they started delivery of the paper again! This company has taken over $200 from me for a service I never wanted!

Desired Outcome

A full refund!

I spoke to the carrier and he said that he is not delivering to the address since it showed up as
a DND in February. The street has 50-60 throws on it that are frequently not picked up for days.
The carrier thinks that a neighbor or someone nearby is throwing an unwanted copy in Mr. driveway.

The independent carrier also said if he has someone that was listed as a DND but then showed up again to deliver, that he would have told me about it. He said he would not have stopped it in February then restarted it in April. He said he would make sure that he does not receive delivery going forward. He is going to let me know after the street is delivered and I will go by to verify non-delivery. We will continue to monitor non-delivery going forward. If there is something further you would like for us to do, please let us know.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Following this response I don't trust either the carrier or the Circulation Director to comply.

I'll monitor on my end and verify if these deliveries stop. I've installed a camera that will show compliance.

This EXCUSE is baseless: "The carrier thinks that a neighbor or someone nearby is throwing an unwanted copy in Mr. driveway." What a load of ***!

If Mr. believes this excuse I have sincere doubts of his credibility as the Director of Circulation. That the carrier would make such an untruthful statement would cause me to doubt his integrity and whether or not he should be employed by the paper.

I just want the undesired deliveries of these papers to stop permanetly without me having to make these repeated requests.

Alabama Media Group Response • May 14, 2019

Since Mr. doesn't want to be contacted by us, we still stand by the response. We have this happen all of the time and we will do all we can do to make sure our carrier isn't throwing anything in his yard. He has my number and is welcome to call me at any time if he would like to.

I have been trying to cancel a monthly subscription since 12/7/2017 and have never been successful. The charge needs to stop, effective immediately.
I have been trying to cancel a monthly subscription since 12/7/2017 and have never been successful. I have tried emailing, calling the number provided (which never connects to a human), and disputing with my credit card. None of these tactics have been successful in cancelling the subscription fully. When I call the automated system, I cannot cancel either. Oddly, it even states I have been charged a different (slightly less) amount than that showing on my statement. The charge needs to stop, effective immediately. I'd like a refund back to the date I initially made contact to cancel the subscription.

Desired Outcome

I would like to be refunded the 9.16 monthly charge back to 12/7/2017 when I first made contact to cancel the subscription. I have not received a physical paper, ever, and have never used the services I am being charged for. The total refund would be 137.40.

Has not delivered Sunday paper in 8 weeks despite being reported MULTIPLE times

We had to make a trip out of town on February 17t17th and called to cancel delivery for that one date. The following week when we did not receive a paper we contacted them to remind them the paper delivery was to be restored. We have continued to receive the Wednesday and Friday papers as scheduled. We have reported this every week since. The customer service department acknowledges we have paid for the full week delivery plan. However despite being told on numerous occasions this was being escalated, we have still not received a Sunday paper since February. This has been going on for 8 weeks. The customer service department refuses to allow us to speak to anyone higher than their "supervisor" level nor can they tell us if anyone has actually even reviewed our complaint

Desired Outcome

We want the delivery we have already paid for and we want to be credited for all the papers we did not receive

Had a Press Register District Manager drive by Mrs. address on Sunday, 4/21/19, to verify a newspaper was serviced. The newspaper was delivered.

On 4/22/19 District Manager, *** contacted the customer, and the person acknowledged the paper was delivered.

On 4/23/19 I spoke to Mrs. mother (***) and she also acknowledged the Sunday paper was delivered. I advised her at that time to please let her daughter know that the Press Register credited her account for the 8 missed Sunday papers. The old exp. date was 8/8/19 and the new expiration date is now 10/11/19.

We did receive our paper this Sunday. We also did receive the promised follow-up phone call to make sure we were satisfied. We can close this particular case
