All My Sons Moving & Storage of CT, Inc. Reviews (44)

I have read your complaint and would like to address it. Yes I agree my estimator was at your location and came up with 11 hours to perform the job which equates to approximately 10,000 lbs or a full truck. You mentioned you ended up packing 80-90% of your house, it was discussed on May 31st that...

you were taking care of the majority of the packing. Per your instructions we were only packing your kitchen and a few specific pieces of art. On June 17th my crew did alert Paul a few hours into the job trying to be proactive if the truck would not contain. That game plan was in effect until my office was notified by the crew leader stating that someone was at your residence screaming and cursing at them saying "I'm paying you to fit everything in the truck".. My office then attempted to talk with you where we were unable to talk, I then intervened where all due respect I did not use any foul language, nor did  I state what you mentioned. The call was on speaker and after numerous times attempting to try to talk, I explained that I won't allow customers to verbally abuse my employees. At such time yes I did state that we were not meeting your expectations and I offered to stop loading and unload the items back into your home at no cost to you. I also had my estimator reach out for you. What we did for you was we ended up doing 8.25 hours in labor on day one, we did not contain. I sent a crew out the next day at a 40.00 an hour discount out of good faith where they were there for 2 hours to complete the remaining items for a total of 10.25 labor hours     Doug F[redacted]Operations Manager- Owner of Connecticut

We are very sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction during the relocation. We have offered $250.00 as a resolution. We hope you will accept.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:It literally takes 2 minutes to pull up a person's criminal
record in [redacted] on [redacted]. Here is the criminal
conviction history for [redacted], the employee who stole my
jewelry:[redacted]
[redacted]
[redacted]
[redacted] [redacted]Detective [redacted] from the [redacted] Police Department will also confirm that [redacted] has a prior record.Given
that the company is putting these employees in people's homes, and
their employees have access to all belongings, this 2 minute check
should be obligatory.  I trusted that All My Sons was a reputable
moving company. That has proven not to be the case.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:The estimator was made aware of all the items and when asked if he had a larger truck for the move indicated that his crew would be able to fit all items. On moving day the crew indicated that not everything would fit, urgent calls were placed and finally a second truck was sent. I had to pay again for a wrong estimate and load, plus the second crew. We packed the dishes with padding and dividers in small boxes clearly marked as fragile glass on all sides. Upon delivery two trucks arrived with two crews abig cost bump up from the estimate. many boxes marked basement were delivered to the attic and vice -versa. There were several workers doing very little unless I got after them. We paid and I spoke to the estimator about the mishandling and mis-calculating with no acknowledgement of responsibility. Most recently we set up our dining room and opened dishware - to our disgust a service of china for 12 had  20 broken pieces.Having paid promptly for mis-calculations and large crews we wanted the Revdex.com to be aware of the risks of working with this company and the mishandling of clearly marked packs. Apparently, to cause the damage the boxes had to have been dropped! The cost for this move was almost double the original, misleading estimate.

Please call the Customer Care Team at ###-###-####, we will be happy to help you with your claim. Thank you!

In response to the practices of screening our employees is done through a reputable company used [redacted]. I have cooperated with the local police departments fully and disclosed all information. Customer is stating an employee was a [redacted] on [redacted]? I have supplied and have on...

record all five employees criminal background printouts which none reflect such.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:The settlement offered does not cover the full cost of the misassembled bed or the...

damage done to my furniture or my floors not to mention all the time and aggravation that you put me through and the inconvenience to be without a bed for my son for almost a month.    I expect a full refund of my claim and am willing to sue you in small claims court.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

[redacted] I appreciate the business and I spoke with accounts payable directly which assured me that the sixty dollars is being refunded today and will show on your statement within the next 24-48 hours. I apologize for the delay and any confusion.

On any potential claim as I explained I conduct an internal investigation which was explained to you. In conclusion to the interviewing of the crew as I explained the crew leaders brought in your television fully wrapped, we unwrapped it in front of you. At the end of the job before my crew left...

you had my crew move the same tv from the floor to the other side of the room's floor for your reasoning you wanted to utilize the space where we originally placed it (which we did in front of you).  You sent me a picture which I requested disclosed a substantial damage. The customer stated they only noticed it when they turned it on. The picture of the TV was also moved on top of the furniture which my crew did not place it there. In regards to the implication of the child possibly doing it. I just mentioned throughout the move the young boy (3-4 years of age) throughout the move was throwing things at out truck, walk boards and crew. All I said that it might be a possibility. It was a clear decision that the TV was moved not once but twice in front of our customer and the substantial damage was not present. We were not at fault and not liable. Attached is a picture of the damaged TV.

In summary this a review about thieves. Just a week before Xmas 2015. All My Sons was hired to move my father's property from CT to Rhode Island. At first , it seemed pleasant enough though their inexperience at breaking things down was very apparent and I had to lend them a ratchet set. Still the items were loaded and unloaded without a hitch till the dust settled and apparently that things that shouldn't have been touched were missing.
I decided to contact Amanda who sent these boys to us at their office the next day. I wasn't calling to make wild accusations or get in a heated conversation. It was to inform them that they should keep a close eye on these boys. Instead Amanda went into a fit ! Saying we stand by our boys ! That the items that were missing was our own mistake.! On and on she went , not even bothering to listen to any part of our complaint. Her final words if you had a problem call the cops, we cooperate with the police !
Fine. So a couple of days before Xmas we went to the police. A criminal investigation was started. The items stolen amounted to 1500 dollars. Problem is a criminal charge is hard to substantiate unless they are caught in the act or it was recorded. Police were going to do their job but a positive outcome was going to be difficult unless one of these boys confessed and looking at the other reviews , clearly posted about this company, they are quite experienced criminals.
So you have to ask yourself a couple of questions. If this company, All My Sons, provide you a good rate to move your items. Do you want to be the person that is totally on top of them making sure that none of your items are accidentally taken. And if you do have them move your stuff and come upon a problem do you want to contact the main office that blindly denies any wrongdoing and whose ideas of customer service is pathetic. Going thru any move is dramatic enough , do you really need the added frustration of dealing with a company that is untrustworthy ?
Finally, that ratchet set that I gave to help those boys break down some items was not returned. Merry Xmas to us.

I am rejecting this response because: yet again you have not said anything to rectify the situation. Your data was incorrect in the prior email. The second crew was not given at a discount, in fact we paid more than the normal rate because there was a minimum necessary to hire movers. We should not have paid at all for an additional crew, but instead we paid more than typical hourly rate. The only resolution I will accept is reimbursement for the additional truck which should never have fallen on us to pay in the first place.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
You did not "offer" to unload the truck and give us a reimbursement. You knew we had to be out of our house and had only that day to move and threatened to unload the truck as a way for us to pay for a service that was poor. You took advantage of us being in a bind. You did not let my husband know that the truck was too small but regardless, it is your job to then bring a bigger truck. That is in no way, shape, or form the job of the client. Providing a discount for an additional truck is a joke. We shouldn't have needed an additional truck since you knew how much stuff we had. Also we moved 5 car loads ourself, all which should have been in the truck. If your company messed up by 1.not packing well to fill the truck and 2. Not getting a big enough truck then it's your problem. There is no way a customer should be paying for your mistake. I'm not going to waste my time arguing with you about your attitude. You and I both know you were inappropriate but based on your attitude on the phone and your own employees comments about you, that is likely something that won't change.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

I want to personally sincerely apologize for the crew not being able to get to your home at the original time. If all had went well with the crew in the nearby area they would have been there around noon, however their first customer did not inform us of the long walk at destination....

We have refunded the deposit that was placed to the card you placed it on. I actually did it the same day that you did have to cancel just due to us not being able to service you in time, so you should have it back to your card. I wish you the best of luck in your new home and again I do apologize for all that ensued.

Bait and switch. They will quote you a great price (i.e., $375 to move a 2 bedroom apartment) and then charge you almost double. I told the booking representative that I was moving less than two miles away (according to [redacted] maps it is 1.4 miles away) and the type of furniture I was moving (i.e., one king bed, a TV console, etc.) and she said that the movers would have "no problem" getting it done in 2 hours and therefore the price would be $375 (2 hours for the actual loading and unloading, and 1 hour for the truck to get to and from my apartment). Every box was already packed and organized in a section of the apartment before the movers arrived.
The movers were 45 minutes late, they were supposed to give me a call 30 minutes before arriving and never did (I had to call the main office to confirm that they were still coming), and then I was charged over $550 for the entire move. The only reason it wasn't $650 was that I had to have people help them unload the truck (and thus, it didn't take them as long to unload). They also had difficulty actually moving items (i.e., they couldn't handle my mattress or my bed frame).
I called customer service and asked them to honor the estimate and they refused.
Please, please avoid this company. Worst moving experience, ever.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:In no way, shape or form did my son throw objects at your moving truck, employees, or anything, he was inside with his Grandparents while my husband and I directed the move. I do not recall the tv being moved but even if so, it was still moved by your employees. I do not see how this is even relevant, the tv was moved all day by your guys. I am 9 months pregnant and definitely not picking up any tvs. The tv was clearly damaged in the back of the truck and to say otherwise is absolutely ridiculous. To treat customers this way is extremely unacceptable, unprofessional, insulting and infuriating. Yes, the tv was unwrapped by your employees but it was not turned on, which is how we noticed the shattered screen. Your company is liable for the damage. Take action for your responsibilities. I don't think you are understanding that the tv looked fine until we turned it on so even if your guys unwrapped it and placed it where we requested, when we turned it on the screen was broken. The only thing in the world that makes sense is that it happened during the move and for you to come up with ludicrous excuses will make me fight for what is right. I'm going to take this to court and let them determine that your company is guilty, not my kid.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because this is still not a fair settlement. The way the company handled this has been extremely unprofessional and predatory. The original PHONE quote, though an estimate, was 2 hours and 1 hour travel time for a total of $387. I budgeted $516 for if the company goes over by 50%. So not only did the company strategically give me a low-ball quote to get my business, but when the workers came they dragged their feet to over 6.5 hours (double the initial estimate), and once they had my items in the truck THREATENED to lock it up in their warehouse if I don't pay the $850. This was a 2 bedroom apartment where everything was already boxed and ready to move with only 3 additional heavy items to move (bedroom, sectional, sofa). This is not the way a reputable company should do business.I have disputed the amount of $434 on my [redacted] to bring the payment back to 4 hours or $516 total, but I am willing to remove the dispute and remove the honest reviews I posted through [redacted], and [redacted] if I get a refund of $250, which I think is a fair compromise. This will bring the total down to a reasonable amount of $600, which is what the average I was quoted by several other companies for a full move, not hourly rate.
Sincerely,

I used them in November 2013 and they did a great job. I have since referred people to them and I called them again to schedule an upcoming move. I spoke with Michelle on Friday morning. She assured me someone would call me that evening or the next morning. 3 days later still no call so I called them back. I was asking for the same move price that they gave me when they moved me first which being a repeat customer and referring others I thought was reasonable.
When I spoke to the owner Doug he would not honor that rate. He kept talking over me and wouldn't even let me speak. His customer service skills are lacking in which he should leave to his reps. He wouldn't waive a fuel surcharge that they waived previously, 11% is ridiculously high and another way for them to gain income. He said they move 4,000 people and clearly he doesn't care about repeat business or recommendations. For moving that many people and only having a handful of reviews I thought that others should know of my experience. I spent $120 tipping the guys last time and also another $30 buying them breakfast and lunch. When I explained that it would be taking away from their tip he did not care saying that he treats his employees good and didn't recommend tips.
After speaking with him I remember speaking with him during my last move and he was exactly the same. When I agreed to the price he pushed on me he said someone would call 24-48 hours prior to the move and I can make the decision then. When I asked if they would really call me because I was already promised a call he said forget it and didn't want my business.
Go with someone who values their customers, repeat business and most of all the best compliment of referrals.

Review: On Saturday, Sept 19th we used All My Sons movers out of [redacted], CT to move to our new home in [redacted], CT. After the movers left, we turned on our flat screen tv and the screen had been shattered, broken, unusable. On Sunday Sept 20th I contacted the salesman Kurt B[redacted] to get me in touch with the Manager Doug F[redacted]. Doug returned my call on Tuesday, Sept 29th and said his company is not responsible for our broken tv, the tv took a direct hit (from the picture I sent in) and that my child must have hit or kicked the tv when they were delivering the furniture/items. The tv worked before being removed from a dresser at our [redacted] location, to the movers hands, to the moving truck, to a tv stand in the new home. The tv must have hit something in the back of the truck. Doug F[redacted] blamed my child (who was supervised) and would not take responsibility for the damage, will not reimburse or credit us and treated us so poorly and unfairly it is unbelievable. We think we should be credited for the amount that their company broke.Desired Settlement: Price for flat screen
