All My Sons Moving & Storage of CT, Inc. Reviews (44)

Review: Contracted with All My Sons Moving & Storage in Sept. 2015 to move the contents of my home from New Milford Ct. to York Pa. We were told that we could leave non-breakable items in draws. We watched the movers load our belongings onto their trucks. We were told by the movers that when the 3 trucks were weighed 2 were over weight so that the trucks had to be unloaded and the contents redistributed to get all 3 under the maximum weight. This was done at remote location out of our supervision. The following day our belongings were delivered to York. After the movers finished unloading and left we began to unpack and immediately noticed that except for 12 knives an entire set of sterling silver dinner ware was missing including many large serving pieces the value of which is over $3500.00

In addition there were 23 pieces of broken Lennox china and Waterford crystal valued over $975.00. Damage to solid walnut dresser, teak hutch, and numerous other pieces of furniture exceeds $900.00. Rather than carefully hanging our clothing into wardrobe cartons as we contracted for the movers just threw our clothing into the cartons intermingled with the hangers resulting in one large knot of clothes requiring pressing.

We called All My Sons by phone as soon as we noticed the missing silver and spoke to a woman who answered the phone. We got no call back. I followed up with a E-Mail to the person I arranged the move with detailing the missing silver and the damages with no reply. I later sent a demand letter to the Manager by certified mail return receipt requesting $6034.00 for missing silver, broken and damaged furniture, and failure to perform his work as contracted. Receipt was returned to me indicating that they got my letter but they never responded to me.

We paid for the move by Discover Card and requested that they not pay All My sons. After over a month Discover Card paid themDesired Settlement: Request that All My Sons Moving And Storage refund to me $6034.00 as detailed in my letter to them for missing silverware, broken china and crystal, damaged furniture, and failure to perform contracted work properly

I fully respect respect your comments but I feel compelled to comment. My senior estimator was the gentleman you were dealing with. I make sure my office and outside estimate sales state uniformed in our policies and procedures. You mentioned that we stated that you can put unbreakable items in your dressers. It is discussed with explained that all customers not matter if it is one dresser, nite stands, curios, everything must be emptied. The only items that is allowed is clothing. This is also covered a few days before on final confirmation. The reason why is that the furniture can most likely be upright and items can jump out of the draws and possibly cause damage to the draws tracking of fall behind the draws. In regards to the unsupervised loads.. Where this information came from you are incorrect.. I can confidently state this because I myself met the crews at the official weight station and stayed with the units until I was in compliance with the federal regulations and the units were sealed. About the silverware my employees are not day laborers, they are full time employees and all are state and federally background check and you were told to contact the authorities if you felt any wrong doing, which I would comply with them with any information they required. We are not responsible for boxes that are packed by the owner. hence why we do not know what was put in them nor how they were packed. About the moving insurance, you declined to purchase Moving insurance and signed off that you declined. This would default to the standard .60 cents per pound per item if we were at fault. I am sorry for your feelings on the move but I hope this explains and clarifies.

In summary this a review about thieves. Just a week before Xmas 2015. All My Sons was hired to move my father's property from CT to Rhode Island. At first , it seemed pleasant enough though their inexperience at breaking things down was very apparent and I had to lend them a ratchet set. Still the items were loaded and unloaded without a hitch till the dust settled and apparently that things that shouldn't have been touched were missing.
I decided to contact Amanda who sent these boys to us at their office the next day. I wasn't calling to make wild accusations or get in a heated conversation. It was to inform them that they should keep a close eye on these boys. Instead Amanda went into a fit ! Saying we stand by our boys ! That the items that were missing was our own mistake.! On and on she went , not even bothering to listen to any part of our complaint. Her final words if you had a problem call the cops, we cooperate with the police !
Fine. So a couple of days before Xmas we went to the police. A criminal investigation was started. The items stolen amounted to 1500 dollars. Problem is a criminal charge is hard to substantiate unless they are caught in the act or it was recorded. Police were going to do their job but a positive outcome was going to be difficult unless one of these boys confessed and looking at the other reviews , clearly posted about this company, they are quite experienced criminals.
So you have to ask yourself a couple of questions. If this company, All My Sons, provide you a good rate to move your items. Do you want to be the person that is totally on top of them making sure that none of your items are accidentally taken. And if you do have them move your stuff and come upon a problem do you want to contact the main office that blindly denies any wrongdoing and whose ideas of customer service is pathetic. Going thru any move is dramatic enough , do you really need the added frustration of dealing with a company that is untrustworthy ?
Finally, that ratchet set that I gave to help those boys break down some items was not returned. Merry Xmas to us.

Review: We hired All My Sons Moving and Storage to move our large furniture across town from one house to another. they employed a [redacted] for [redacted] who stole my grandmother's antique diamond ring and other jewelry and pawned them at a local [redacted] store. There is currently a warrant out for their employee's arrest, and I hold All My Sons Moving and Storage responsible. Their hiring and employment practices are suspect, and their employees do not follow outlined procedures and processes that are put in place to prevent theft. When I called them to let them know that I couldn't find the ring, they should have instructed me to file a police report immediately. Instead, they discounted my concern, and told me it couldn't have been them due to the processes they have in place. When I realized more jewelry was missing and filed a police report a couple of months later, it was too late to get my valuables back as the [redacted] store had dismantled. Their employee had pawed the jewelry 7 days after I had called All My Sons to report the ring missing.Desired Settlement: We have tired to negotiate with All My Sons, but they set a ridiculous estimate of the value of the ring. My appraisal showed a value of $10,750 for my grandmothers' diamond ring, and we valued the other rings stolen at $250. We also wanted our moving expenses of $1520 refunded. In total, we felt we were entitled to $12,520, but they only offered $5000. Consequently, we filed with our insurance company, [redacted]. We are seeking a refund of $1520 for the moving expenses we paid plus the $1000 deductible the insurance company is making us pay, so a total of $2520 from All My Sons.

In response to the practices of screening our employees is done through a reputable company used [redacted]. I have cooperated with the local police departments fully and disclosed all information. Customer is stating an employee was a [redacted] on [redacted]? I have supplied and have on record all five employees criminal background printouts which none reflect such.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:It literally takes 2 minutes to pull up a person's criminal

record in [redacted] on [redacted]. Here is the criminal

conviction history for [redacted], the employee who stole my

jewelry:[redacted]Detective [redacted] from the [redacted] Police Department will also confirm that [redacted] has a prior record.Given

that the company is putting these employees in people's homes, and

their employees have access to all belongings, this 2 minute check

should be obligatory. I trusted that All My Sons was a reputable

moving company. That has proven not to be the case.

Sincerely,

Review: We chose this moving company based on supposed good reputation to care for our valuable items in transit. Numerous household items were broken. We are extremely upset about a particular box that was labeled as glassware and contained dishes that were passed down for many years. This box was delivered with 3 dishes in tact. The 9 other dishes were broken entirely. When we called to put in a complaint, we were dismissed and told that the company was not liable due to an extra insurance policy that was never made known to us prior.Desired Settlement: Because these items are irreplaceable and we will now need to buy new dishes, we would appreciate a refund for the damage and horrid experience. We are very disappointed in this company's overall service and will be sure to NOT recommend them in the future.

I had this customer visited by my on area estimator prior to booking with us. My estimator reviewed all options of our full service which included packing. It was also discussed and reviewed that the customer wanted and agreed he wanted only 1 truck to be filled. My estimator reviewed with the customer what he needs were and he informed my estimator that they would not be taking certain items that would allow us to contain. Day of move this customer did ALL OF THE PACKING, the customer was told prior to the move we would not be responsible for packing by owner. in addition the customer signed off such waiver. The move took longer than estimated due to the customer changing his mind and us taking everything. We accommodated the customers needs and made the adjustments and put another truck/crew together to take care of his additional needs.

Please feel free to contact me on any questions on the move. We truly made sure the customer knew everything we offered prior to booking and the crew that moved them on the day was my number one veteran crew.
