The Next Door social media site lacks tough enforcement of its guidelines Leads are incapable of stopping the negative, uncivil toxicity which creeps into local neighborhood discourse Reporting procedures are mediocre Despite many guideline abuses, the same posters are allowed to spew their opinions and in some cases hijacking the discourse of a neighborhood blogOverposting, cyberbullying, ranting, uncivil rhetoric must be stopped or what was to be a nice, neighborly tool will do just the opposite If Next Door corporate can't get this straightened out, and fast, this site is doomed to failure [redacted] ***

My experience has not been positive during the last years with NextdoorThey seem to not follow the protocol that is set up for their guidelinesSome neighbors it seems are allowed to bully their other neighbors, while others can micromanage what they want on the feeds by allowing or removing certain commentsThe organization seems to turn their head sometimes on activity of a member or lead if that resident member is recruiting other members to make the site growWhile the intention of this site was to have neighbors helping neighbors, in my neighborhood it has turned into a site where all our neighborhoods are controlled by one bullyWe can't even share information without this person questioning or removing comments she doesn't like or agree with on this site

Nextdoor[redacted] is a really poorly run social media appIn my [redacted] area, where I am a member, the leads (non-employee social media leaders) are poorly educated and their determinations of what is or what is unacceptable posting will vary between neighborhoods that are blocks awayThe leads most of the time, aren't the most seasoned neighbors who really have lived there the longest...they're the tech nerds with lots of time on their hands after having lived there for a few years--and perhaps started the groupThese leads use too much subjectivity because the company itself provides not very clear guidelinesMost of the time, it is like garage sale with cheap people trying to make a buck or two (literally) selling used stuff that should be donated if they weren't so cheapIt really is like the Wild West of the internetIf I could give less than star, I would

I had my account suspended without violating the community guidelines or any other agreed upon terms of serviceI was methodically threatened and harassed by another userWhen I attempted to stand up for myself after being publicly shamed my account was suspended without warning or noticeWhen I was unable to login I emailed customer supportI received a response explaining that my account was suspended for posting a personal disputeIt was the other person who had a person disputeThe letter from customer support was demeaning, insisting that I email back on a specific date with an apology and a promise to read the guidelinesThe comment of mine that led to all of this was critical of a local business and its refusal to perform a recall repair on a vehicle it had sold meI believe that this entire event is an attempt to silence my criticism and is an active ploy to discourage my participation in public criticism of a business that may be advertising with NextDoor

From the very first post I made on Nextdoor, I was bullied and shamed by one of the leadsI reported her to NextdoorThey did nothingShe bullies me and my friends every chance she getsShe reports every comment I makeThis has continued for two years with me complaining when I've had enough or people start coming to me complaining about this womanJust today I've noticed that the level of my lead privileges has been reduced so that I can't see what others are reportingI don't get to vote on whether to remove a post or notI can't delete my own posts! Today I got a message that it was removed from my neighborhoodThat means it's still visible to all the nearby neighborhoodsIn my opinion this system is poorly designed and the software poorly writtenThe "new and improved" user interface is not intuitive or user friendlyIt is not at all attractiveIt is clunky and ridden with bugsCustomer service was condescending, arrogant, non-responsive, and incompetentI'm sorry I ever fell for their pitchIt scares me that they have my personal information foreverIt scares me that I've wasted so much time on them

I was an active member of my local NextDoor in *** -- one strand was regarding a march being held in ** in January One woman wrote that she "hoped she would not get beat up by wearing a MAGA hat"I responded that NextDoor was not an appropriate venue for such a discussion and that I hoped she would reconsider posting things like thatI got suspended (I found out several months later)I also got accused on using a name because I used just my married name and my email account is an account I had before I was married But easy enough to put both names together, hit google and come up with -- meEvidently, these random suspensions have happened in the past --
It's a shame It's a useful resource whose customer service folks are playing judge and jury with limited experience and guidelines

I joined a few weeks ago, and immediately started receiving a barrage of advertisements, along with the supposed "neighborhood" infoI have been trying to get these emails stopped for weeks, and they still keep coming

A NextDoor*** user under the cover Penelope Alvarez is currently making defamatory and slanderous claimsThe claims are and completely misleadingThey are seeking to defame my characterI want them removed

Nextdoor suspended my account because in their words, " It seems that some of your neighbors aren’t familiar with any neighbor by the name of
*** *...."
Since I actually know just a handful of my immediate neighbors PERSONALLY in a subdivision with over residents, it is obvious that the "complaint" against me came from a busybody who was searching state or county records and could not find my nameIn this day & age of ID theft, I like my privacy and choose to use my maiden name on social sitesIF Nextdoor actually was concerned with member's privacy, they would understand my concerns

Nextdoo*** should consider screening the posts that it's leads closesIn our case, leads have turned into post bulliesThey are disconnected from the problems of our community and add little or no valueMost crime and burglaries happen on streets where the leads live but they make no effort to report themThe richer, predominantly white areas post what they want and have extensive conversations about their community without being pointed out as a reported post by their leadOur case, a lower to mid income community of minorities, there is so much differenceWe are not aloud to post anything about burglary or crime, even if it does not point out a specific house or locationIn other words, *** *** ** *** *** *** has a joke of a Nextdoor forumThe lead should be removed or put in checkAs the volunteer leader of our community, I can say for a fact that our community has gone down because people are afraid to say anythingOf course, we get a little tested, but why not? Our community has gotten worse and people need to see the crime report so that they will come out of denialOur lead has never removed a long posts from a city councilman and we don't even see them in our communities' until it's time to voteAtkins has terrible crime and when i.posted that a car had been burglarized, the lead took it downThat is a forum of cyber bullying and that is not what ND is suppose to representAnother person on my street threatened me because his pitbull ran from his yard and attacked meI injured my armWhen I posted the incident without a name, the person, threatened meRidiculous Please help us.it us hard living in a community among people who don't care

Dishonest, illegal company who steals email addresses then uses the to market to people under the guide that a "friend recommended you join"It's a lieIt's a scam and these people should be sued by a federal agency

Nextdoor South Land Park Estates has been bombarding my email with announcementsI didn't request or sign up for theseI tried to "unsubscribe" but their site makes it impossible unless I first create an account with them! I'm not going to create an account and believe their requirement to do so, before unsubscribing, is illegalI tried to call them, but only got a recording directing me to their online options or allowing me to leave a messageI did, demanding that they stop emailing meGiven their general unavailability I doubt they will comply with my requestCan you help me? They should not be allowed to continue with this practice

OMG, this website is scaryThey post your home address without warningThe demand that you contact online male bulliesAny women knows not to do that with a bully she has never metThis website is not safe for women

NEXTDOOR.COM DOES NOT PROVIDE IMMEDIATE CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR NEIGHBORHOOD WEBSITES LOCATED THROUGHOUT THE USTHEY DON'T HAVE SYSTEMS IN PLACE TO REMOVE PERSONAL INFORMATION SUCH AS PLACE OF EMPLOYEMENT & LIABLOUSS, SLANDEROUS REMARKS THAT HAVE RESULTED IN DEATH THREATSTHIS IS UNCONSCIONABLE & THE PERSON WHO POSTS MESSAGES THAT ARE LIABLOUS & THREATENING & SHOULD BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY & PERSON POSTING TRASH LIKE THAT SHOULD BE REMOVED PERMANENTLY FROM THEIR COTHANK GOD THE POSTING HAS BEEN REMOVED BUT THE DAMAGE HAS BEEN DONE

Nextdoor*** is a public forum predominately ran by Leads in the neighborhoodThis forum has guidlenes that are to be follwed by all who sign upIt has been noted that the leads for the community can by pass such guidlenes to favor their agendaLeads are placing defamatory, and derogatory information on the site about a neighbor that they have a personal issue withAllowing others neighbors within the community to elaborate and discuss these untruthsThe leads then have the oppurtunity to remove any post that they do not approve or like from the siteOnce you notify Nextdoor*** that the lead themself aren't following the guidlenes and are posting defamatory and derogatory information about neighbors they place the blame back on the person complainingNextdoor*** need a better system in place to protect neighbors from this private forum of bashing, name calling, slander, libel, and unfriendly discussion of other neighborsThe lead can report anything to try to get a neighbor o

Nextdoor is a horrible companyThey are a mass marketing scheme in disguise

About last month I joined Nextdoor*** the subdivision where I have lived for the past yearsI started posting on the site with some pretty benign posts about recommendations and suggestions, trying my best to be helpfulIn my last post which was a response to another post by someone wanting a recommendation for a neurologist, I gave my recommendation suggesting that she contact a doctor friend of mine for a referralRight after my post a person with the initials ***., I won't mention the name, posted that a certain doctor was the best neurologist in townI came back with a post suggesting that patients can't really know doctors as well as doctors know doctorsShe then posted " I agree with that 100%, I am a doctor recommending a doctor"Well the way she wrote her posts with exclamation points and smiley faces I was in doubt that she was an M.Dso I looked up her name in the Texas Medical Registry and did not find her thereSo then I proceeded to post a statement

This website decided to suspend my account without warning and then told me they had communicated this with me when they hadntThey suspended me saying I was using a nickname for my account and not a full name - although this was not a requirement when I first signed upThey stated their intent was to be a safe and open place, but then I was trying to be safe by using a nickname instead of my full name, they then proceeded to kick me off of their site despite me revealing all of my personal infoI then wrote to company and asked them to use my full name and provided it go them, and they then ignored me and continued to suspend my account despite multiple attempts at communication with them and no response

The moderators (they call them "leads") are allowed to let their own biases dictate what they allow to be commented on There is little or no oversight on the moderators themselves, so one has to ask oneself, "*** *** *** *** *** ***"?

I have experienced a deplorable situation with Next-doorOur neighborhood which was established years ago and has a historical society preserving the sanctity of our neighborhood was merged with another neighborhood due to two "leads" with political motivation in the accompanying neighborhood Since our neighborhood only had one "lead" and did not vote on this boundary reversal, his "non-vote" is considered approval of the merging of the neighborhoods Now, all of our neighborhood is forced to see their political commentary on their view points about not allowed Short term vacation rentals into the area We have asked the leads to change it back and their response was "they don't really see our neighborhood as a true neighborhood." Next-door has no phone number so you are forced to email with incompetent customer service reps who tell you there's nothing they can do about it I am currently exploring other apps to utilize for our neighborhood and will be asking our homeowners to remove themselves from Next-door and for the meantime visit our *** page for neighborhood events and information
