Dear Revdex.com,Allied American University (AAU) has reviewed the complaintThe complainant was administratively withdrawn from AAU for attendance issuesHe was withdrawn from his last course after non-attendance for daysThe balance on his account is reflective of those first two weeks of class in
which he was enrolledThis balance is in accordance with the University’s refund policy that he agreed to when he signed his enrollment agreementAfter he was administratively withdrawn from his last class, he was dismissed from the University because of unsatisfactory academic progress In regards to the complainant’s statement regarding disability accommodations, this matter was investigated and found that on August 11, 2015, after the complainant disclosed to his academic advisor that he had a disability, the academic advisor instructed him to reach out directly to the ADA Coordinator after reviewing the Disability Policy in the Student HandbookUnfortunately, the complainant never contacted the ADA Coordinator, and therefore was never told that AAU was unable to assist with disability accommodationsAs a measure of good faith, AAU has decided to waive the complainants balance and release his transcriptWe ask that he please give is a few days to make the adjustments to his account and then he can call ***, or email *** for his transcriptsAAU wishes the complainant all the best with his future endeavors.Sincerely,Allied American University Tell us why here

Dear Revdex.com,Allied American University maintains its decision and will not award a refund to Mr***Mr*** qualified and took out a Pell Grant as well as subsidized and unsubsidized loans to cover the balance of his tuitionAll of this was clearly outlined in his Award LetterWe do not have any documentation on file showing that he was misled in any wayThere are several emails between Mr*** and AAU employees that show he was aware of the loansIf Mr*** can provide documentation that shows otherwise, we will gladly take it under consideration.Sincerely,AAU

Dear Revdex.com,
As previously mentioned Ms*** is outside of the terms disclosed on the enrollment agreement she acknowledged and signed on 12/01/This contract clearly states that students are ineligible for a refund if more than one year has passed from the original enrollment dateMs***’s eligibility for a refund expired on 12/01/ Throughout her enrollment, we have tried our best to accommodate Ms***, including renegotiating payment terms, deferring payments, and supplying an additional three month extension as well as supplying her with a new course at no charge Despite of our efforts and Ms***’s unwillingness to accept accountability, we are disappointed that we were unable to reach an accord with her. As a show of good faith, we would like to offer a refund for the courses that she has not completed, less our cost of the complimentary course that was sent in April.
Allied wishes Ms*** good luck in her future endeavors. Thank you, Allied Business Schools, Inc

Dear Revdex.com,Allied Schools has reviewed Ms***’s complaintUnfortunately, we are unable to accommodate her request for a refund as she is outside the terms of her enrollment agreementMs*** enrolled with Allied on 12/01/2014, and as disclosed on her signed enrollment agreement, her rights
to a refund expired one year from date of enrollmentMs***’s eligibility for a refund expired on 12/01/15. In regards to the software issues Ms*** expressed in her complaint, when she enrolled in her coursework she was using an operating system that was compatible with the course softwareAt some point in time she accepted an irreversible computer update that upgraded her operating system to Windows The software issues that she experienced with the Electronic Health Records course occurred after she accepted this update Ms*** also complained of issues with her Medical Terminology course, however, the majority of complaints have been due to user-error and not software issues.Allied Schools has done its best to accommodate Ms*** throughout her enrollment She was provided, at no cost, a new version of the Electronic Health Records course that is compatible with the Microsoft upgradeIn addition to providing solutions for her coursework, Allied has also provided two course extensions at no cost, and made special accommodations regarding her account. If Ms*** requires any assistance as she continues to progress through her coursework, she may contact our Instructional Support department for help.We wish Ms*** the best of luck in her studies. Sincerely,Allied Schools

Dear Revdex.com,After an extensive review of the complainants record, we have determined the following: When he enrolled in Allied Business Schools medical coding program the cost was $and upon his enrollment, he was provided a $discountTherefore, the total amount of his
tuition was $ The Allied Business Schools refund policy was available for your review in his signed enrollment agreement (contract signed 10/30/2015) and in the school catalog. As stated in the enrollment agreement, the refund policy does not allow for full refunds after the first five (5) business days of signing your enrollment agreement and after you have completed courseworkAfter the fifth business day from enrollment, but before the enrollment termination date (10/30/2016), if students wish to cancel before any assignments are submitted, a non-refundable 20% portion ($200) of the course cost and shipping and handling costs are deductedSince he completed two of the three courses in their entirety and completed several assignments in the third course in his program and is well past his enrollment termination date, he is not eligible to receive a full refund However, since his personal circumstances are strained, we are willing to stop the automatic debit from his account and provide him with a partial refundWe are offering to waive the $non-refundable 20% portion of the course, as well as the materials/shipping feesHis total estimated refund is $221.13. Sincerely,Allied Schools

Mr*** enrolled in Allied’s SAFE course on 07/27/with
a fixed start date of 7/29/On 7/29, Mr*** was sent a welcome email that
outlined the requirements for course censusCourse census states that students
must participate in the course within 48-hours of the class start date or
he or
she will be withdrawnMy*** failed to participate during this timeframe
and was withdrawn
On 8/3/15, Mr*** was provided a complimentary reenrollment
in the next SAFE class which had a fixed start date of 8/5/Mr*** made
course census for this start date; however he failed to meet the participation requirement,
which requires an academic event at least once every other dayBecause he
failed to meet the participation requirement, he was administratively withdrawn
from this course a second time
Preceding both class starts, Mr*** was emailed the
detailed course attendance and participation requirements by his instructorFurthermore,
these requirements are prominently posted early within the online course
The content of the emails included the language, “I want to
remind you that your course starts today, X/X/and ends on X/X/(these
dates were populated with the dates of his two enrollments). This course
is an online instructor-led course, and you will be taking this course in our
virtual classroom with other students. You are expected to interact with
your fellow classmates and me regularly throughout the 14-day duration.
In order to avoid being withdrawn for non-participation, please make sure that
you participate within the first two days of the course and then participate at
least every other day thereafter.”
In addition, the email also contains a calendar detailing
when specific assignments are available and dueThe email also notifies the
student that if he or she has any questions regarding the course materials or
policies that there is a General Discussion area in the course where questions
can be posted to the instructorMoreover, the phone number for our Instructional
Support department is also included in the emailMr*** states that he
received no support during his enrollment; Allied disagrees with this statement
in the strongest terms possible as we have clearly made many resources
available to him
On 8/19/15, Mr*** called our Student Services
department and requested a refundHis refund was calculated in accordance to the
refund policy that he agreed to when he signed his enrollment agreementThe
refund is a pro-rata calculation based on assignments completed after
deduction of the 20% non-refundable feeMr*** paid $for his course
and was offered a refund of $
We are sorry that Mr*** had a less than favorable
experience with Allied SchoolsWe are certain that if he would have utilized
the resources available to him he would have had a pleasant experienceAs a
measure of good faith, Allied Schools is willing to make a concession on his
refundWe will not pro-rate based on assignments completed; we will only withhold
the non-refundable 20% feeWe feel that this refund is more than fair
considering we enrolled Mr*** twice in the SAFE courseThis will bring
his refund amount to $
If Mr*** would like to accept our refund offer, he may
reach out to *** ***, our Student Affairs Manager, to have the refund
processed.

They have still not acknowledge that they have sold me a program that is bad and to hold me to an expiration date that is not applicable is wrongIf I had been able to advance in there linear courses I would have gladly have asked for a refundLet's how little they give back of my hard earned cash

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The response is attempting to say that due to the fact that I signed the loan documents they are solely my responsibilityI am not disputing thatI will unfortunately be faced with the burden of having to pay them backAAU did not, however, respond to my issue with being given wrong information regarding these loans and school servicesThe ONLY reason I decided to move forward was because the first counselor I spoke with, *** ***, advised me to proceed and that financial aid will pay for the first couple of courses and that I should apply for the loan "in case I need them for future courses." The loans were not too be touched based on that conversationI was mislead into taking classes at this schoolIt is not moral nor legal to misrepresent services and financing in this mannerThis is why I am requesting the cost of the school to be refundedI participated in taking classes at this school based on information provided by an employee of AAUBased on the fact that I was lied to in order to take classes that is the least they can doAAU did nothing to further my educationAll they did was provide a bad service and lie.

I have proof in emails from Allied that show that even they have problems with their software productsI asked when I purchased the course what operating system I can useThey sent me a letter stating only XP and weren't supportedHowever, this is not user error or an operating issue- they sold me a product that won't interface with their i-boardIt wasn't until I progressed through the course and after their expiration date that this was discovered on my partThey have admitted repeatedly to me in writing that they are aware of issues on their endThey have sent me emails stating that they are aware of problemsI am sick that they have swindled $1,from me

AAU is only referencing emails but not phone conversationsI would like to request that phone conversations be reviewedIn these conversations you will hear how AAU associates misled me by making commentsAlthough AAU is trying to relieve themselves of any responsibility by referencing loan and financial aid documentation, AAU is still liable for statements their representatives make.
