In response to complaint number ***, Alpha customer service contacted the customer upon receipt of this complaint In communicating with the customer, [redacted] 's concern was due to high rates Alpha explained to the customer the rate increase was due to market factors in which Alpha does not control The pricing portrayed by Alpha reflects the current market costs associated with the commodity service Per customer request, Alpha has terminated the account and the service will return to the utility on In good faith, Alpha is sending the customer $for her troubles We thank you for your cooperation in this matter, and we have brought closure to [redacted] Thank you

In regards to Complaint Number [redacted] , Alpha Gas & Electric opened an internal investigation prior to this complaint To give a little history into this matter, ** [redacted] placed a complaint through the New York Public Service Commission regarding high rates on Upon receipt of that initial complaint, Alpha had reached out to the customer to resolve his concern Alpha explained the reason for the rate increase and that our pricing reflects the current market costs associated with the commodity service At the time, ** [redacted] requested to be cancelled and to not have services from us so Alpha abided by his request After solving the matter, ** [redacted] then placed another complaint with the regulatory body stating that we did not resolve his matter He is not forth coming with the solution he is seeking At this time we feel as if we have satisfied this case We have tried to bring closure to ** [redacted] but we feel as if he is just fishing for money at this point We would love to help, if you have any suggestions on bringing this to closure, we are open to suggestions We thank you for your involvement in this matter

In response to this notification for case number [redacted] ,Alpha has processed the refund check for $& the customer can expectto receive the check within the next two weeksUpon speaking with the customer on 122014, Alpha’scustomer service sent notification to the utility of the customer’s request tocancelPer the utility company, the cancellation date was set tofor both electric & gasThe customer’s service has sincereturned to the utility.In addition, Alpha had also placed the customer’s account ona preferred rate for the last billing cycle to accommodate the customer evenfurther until the cancellation went into effect

[redacted] It has just come to my attention that Alpha has an unresolved case with the BBB. In response to case Number [redacted] Alpha Gas and electric has placed [redacted] on our internal DNC list back in Feb 2014. Since [redacted] was placed on the DNC list, he has not received any phone calls from us. Thank you, [redacted]

We appreciate your investigation into this affairTo give you a little history into this complaint, the customer contacted Alpha to complain about the unauthorized switch to Alpha
Alpha then opened an internal investigation in which it was determined that *** *** did in fact authorize the switch to our service on 12/**/
Upon communicating to the customer our findings, we gave her all the information pertaining to her sale, i.ethe date and time of the sale
*** *** then went to the local regulatory body and placed a complaint with the New York Public Service Commission on 3/**/
As part of the procedure in dealing with a New York Public Service Commission complaint, we are required to reach out to the customer, which we did upon receipt of that initial complaint
In communications with the customer, the complaint was due to high ratesWe were apologetic for it, but given the market factors that we do not control, our price was regrettably high
Alpha then explained that the prices reflected from Alpha Gas & Electric portray the prices for the commodity service for that billing cycle
Alpha then offered *** a good faith offer of $50, which she refused
*** *** then called and escalated her complaint with the New York Public Service Commission on 3/**/2014, at which point their investigation required proof of authorization
Alpha then then provided the proof of authorization to the New York Public Service Commission along with an additional explanation as to why the pricing had went up
As mentioned to *** ***, the $offer is still available should she decide to take it
Its Alpha’s aim to have happy customers, should you have any suggestions to bring this to closure in an amicable fashion, it is highly appreciated

In response to complaint number ***, as we stated before, Alpha offers a variable rate service
Under this type of service, the rates are subject to change from month to monthAlpha has no control over the market factors that determine our rates.
As we have explained to ** ***, the rates did increase but the pricing portrayed by Alpha reflect the current market cost of energy.
Given the fact that ** *** did agree to a variable rate plan with Alpha, we felt as though the good faith reimbursement of $was more than fair enough

In communications with the customer, the complaint was due to an increase in rates
After explaining the reason for the increase in rates, Alpha Gas & Electric made a good faith offer of $to accommodate the charges from Alpha

The customer is satisfied with the actions taken by Alpha

In regards to complaint number ***, as stated before, Alpha Gas & Electric has an authorized sale done by a ** *** ***
** *** provided the account number and all the account information required for the enrollment.
As you can see, the customer has the same last name as the person who authorized the enrollment.
Alpha is unable to enroll a customer without speaking to an authorized account holder to obtain the account information so we did speak to ** *** for the enrollment
The account has been terminated and the service has returned to the utility after 4/**/
Alpha has unsuccessfully tried to contact the customer upon receipt of this complaint.
Alpha is willing to offer the customer a good faith reimbursement for her troubles.

No resolution was offeredWhat they told me in a phone conversation is that their rates have now gone down to a lower level!
I don't think my being on the variable plan entitles Alpha to gouge meYes, I do believe that's what they are doingFrom my research, their rates are higher than any other company that services this area and as I said in my original letter, my bill is nearly three times higher than any bill I've ever receivedThat's for one person, in an approxsqfoot house
I am not happy about this company or their response to my complaint
