American Freedom Insurance Reviews (61)

I purchased a vehicle in April and upon driving off the lot I inquired an insurance policy with this companyI was involved in an accident May 6th and as of June 20th they haven't done much to help me at allInstead of working for me in the situation they have worked against meSo now I have been paying weekly for a rental car, still paying them, and still paying a monthly car note on my vehicle that I can't driveThey state I will be reimbursed for paying for a rental.....but my vehicle is still sitting in their collision shop a month and a half later and still haven't completed my claimMy adjuster Laura has done nothing but argue with me and side with the other party involved in the accident, including not keeping me in touch with what's happening in my claimThis is the worst experience ever! As soon as this claim is over I'm done with this company period!

I never received that denial letter, that info is not in the policy I signedComplaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: Sincerely, [redacted] ***

As stated previously, the claim was appropriately denied based on the Insured’s breach of policy conditions requiring Notice, Assistance and CooperationAll rights are reserved and none are waived or invalidated

Please be advised that upon completion of our investigation, a settlement offer for the full amount of the damages claimed was made to the Complainant Upon receipt of the signed release check will be issued to the Complainant

This is to reiterate responses under [redacted] which clearly stated the Company’s position. As stated in the previous responses, a settlement offer based on the amount of the Company’s estimate was... made to the Complainant. The Complainant was informed that he could have the vehicle repaired to his satisfaction for the amount of this Company’s estimate at the Company’s preferred repair facility. The Complainant is in no way obligated to have the vehicle repaired at the Company’s preferred repair facility, however if the Complainant chooses to have the vehicle repaired at another facility, the Company would not be responsible for repair costs which exceed this Company’s estimated cost of repair. While the Complainant had not previously inquired about a rental vehicle, rental reimbursement, if any, would be based on the number of labor hours required to repair the vehicle.Tell us why here...

Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 5, 2014/02/20) */ Our investigation, including a recorded statement, disclosed that the Complainant was involved in an accident on 08/16/and received a traffic violation on 03/26/which was not disclosed on the application of insuranceThe application of insurance requires all accidents and/or violations within months prior to the application's date be disclosed to the Company Had this information not been misrepresented the Company would not have accepted the risk or would have charged a higher premium rate Therefore, this Company exercised its option to declare the policy null and void All rights and defenses are reserved and none are waived or invalidated Final Consumer Response / [redacted] (3000, 7, 2014/02/21) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The company gave me the run around from the very beginningThey gave several reasons and told lies about not getting the pictures from the body shop, then they said the body shop had the wrong number, then they needed information from the lien holderThe took several statements from me before coming up with a conclusion of me not giving them information from a speeding ticket back in 03/and then a no fault accident in which I was hit from the rear in 08/They just are refusing to cover an obligation and they had my husband driving records but not mineI don't buy it and feel they should be liableHad this incident never happened, they would still be collection premium's because they just received on last weekThey had already refused to cover my rental which they were only paying $a dayThey should be held accountable for this awful response they gave Final Business Response / [redacted] (4000, 9, 2014/03/06) */ The Complainant Insured is correct that our investigation included a recorded a recorded statement from the Complainant who confirmed that she was involved in an accident on 08/16/and received a traffic violation on 03/26/which was not disclosed on the application of insurance, as requiredAs stated previously, the policy was properly declared null and void based on the terms and conditions of the contract of insurance

Our investigation disclosed that the Complainant Insured used the Ford Ffor business/occupation purposes at the time of the
accident, which is specially excluded from the Insured’s policy of insurance with this CompanyThe claim was accordingly denied and denial letters were forwarded to the Insured The claim was handled properly and the Complainant was aware of the coverage denial

I WAS NEVER IN AN ACCIDENT BEFORE(Keep this in Mind)
So, I was involved in an accident in June of this yearI tried to call them and ended up dialing the wrong numberI was hauled to the hospital and was having breathing difficultiesAfter getting poked and pronged with needles, I went to try and call them in the hospital, which I was there for about - hours of running testsThankfully, nothing was wrong and I was suffering major bruisingThe purpose of this honest review is not about medicalBut the fact that when we started getting the ball rolling and they shot me an offer, they offered me $when the car was worth $They deducted my deductible of $Then $for DepreciationIt gets betterThey were billed for the emergency cervices and ended up forwarding the bill to me, thus deducting it from my settlementThe car was a total loss and financedI had $10,to pay on it(I know, stupid me for overpayingbut it was a 05' model of a car that I wanted and it had 32xxx miles on it) So I was arguing with the adjusterThey never sent anyone out to look at the car (Which I do not think was totaled) and went proceeded by the poorly taken photos of the vehicleI had the storage yard call me and demand $for storageBut they did not tell me what to do with the carSo I left it, awaiting further instructionThey sent me a release form and offered $I challenged itThe same car with TWICE THE MILEAGE was going for $in the area around meI KBB the car and it stated the car was worth $more because of the MileageSo, it secured my argumentThey pointed something out(I pray you do not do business with these guys)
On the declaration pageLook for "MAXIMUM STATED VALUE"I spoke to a lawyer about thisHe stated that CLASSICS and EXOTIC vehicles are given a MSV (I had a *** IonNot either of those)So, I still challenged them$is what I wantI took great care of that carIt was a kid to meSo, after attempting to negotiate a lost cause, they went behind my back and settled with my finance companyMy finance company stated word for word, "we take what the insurance company gives us"Needless to say, I am filing bankruptcy because of theseThanks a lot AFIYou are really proving the American Freedom that we have

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/02/05) */
The Complainant's vehicle was deemed a total loss due to this accidentOne (1) month after notice of loss, a settlement offer was forwarded to the Complainant for the value of the vehicle less the applicable deductibleIn addition, a
letter of guarantee was requested from the Complainant's lienholder, *** Financial
Although the Complainant returned the signed settlement offer, the Complainant's lienholder, *** Financial, advised that they could not provide a letter of guarantee as they did not have the title to the vehicle and were attempting to obtain itIt was not until 01/30/that the Complainant's lienholder, *** Financial, submitted a copy of the title enabling this Company to issue a check to the Complainant's lienholder
The Complainant was aware that her lienholder was unable to provide a letter of guarantee and that a check could not be issued until her lienholder obtained and submitted the proper documents to this CompanyThere was no delay caused by this Company

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/03/31) */
Our investigation disclosed that the Complainant Insured had no prior physical damage coverage and that she claimed that this alleged hit and run accident occurred on the same day the physical damage coverage was added to her policy
However, there was no verifiable evidence that the loss occurred at the time that the physical damage coverage was in effectIn addition, the Insured initially reported to the Company that the alleged hit and run occurred in the state of Michigan and later reported that the alleged loss happened in Indiana
The Complainant was informed that the claim could not be honored as there was no verifiable evidence that the alleged loss occurred within the policy period and contradictory statements were provided to the Company regarding the location of the alleged loss
All rights and defenses are reserved and none are waived or invalidated
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/04/07) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
This company know that they are wrong for not paying for my damage and I will have to take other steps
Thank you

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/08/04) */
Our investigation, including recorded statements, disclosed that the Insured was delivering newspapers at the time of the accident, which is specially excluded from the Insured's policy of insurance with this CompanyThe claim was
accordingly denied and denial letters were forwarded to the Insured and the Complainant Claimant
The claim was handled properly and the Complainant was aware of the coverage concern and the related investigation necessary to conclude the matter
All rights and defenses are reserved and none are waived or invalidated

Our investigation, including a recorded statement, disclosed that the Complainant was involved in accidents on 08/22/and on 04/21/2016, which were not disclosed on the application of insurance. The
application of insurance requires all accidents and/or violations within months prior to the application’s date be disclosed to the Company. In addition, it was disclosed that the Subaru Outback was used for business/occupation purposes to travel to various client locations, which was also not disclosed on the application of insurance
Had this information not been misrepresented the Company would not have accepted the risk or would have charged a higher premium rate
Please be advised that the Adjuster confirmed with the Complainant’s agent, * *** Insurance Agency that no accident and/or violations nor vehicle business/occupation usage were disclosed when the policy was purchasedTherefore, this Company exercised its option to declare the policy null and void. The Complainant was advised that the premiums paid are to be returned by the Complainant’s agentAll rights and defenses are reserved and none are waived or invalidated

This complaint was filed by a third party Complainant who was compensated by and is represented by his own insurance carrier, State Farm
Insurance
This accident involved multiple parties and damaged property. Our investigation, including statements from our Insured and a witness, disclosed that the driver of the other third party claimant’s vehicle, *** *** ***, made an abrupt, unsafe lane change into our Insured’s lane of travel and was the proximate cause of the loss
Therefore, the claim was appropriately denied.
All rights and defenses are reserved and none are waived or invalidated

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/05/23) */
Please be advised that this 04/24/loss was reported the same dayUpon completion of a coverage concern authorization for the vehicle's repairs was given on 5/13/14, less than three (3) weeks after notice of the loss
This
complaint was unnecessary and without merit as there was no delay caused by this Company
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2014/05/27) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
they are delaying the repairthe body shop told them when they received my car that they would not be able to repair the transmission problemthe had a dianostic done on the car and sent the results 05/19/the adjustor has had the results and when I called 05/23/is was told that he still was reviewing itthis is costing me more money not having my car than having itwith rentals and getting rides from othersi had a car with another company years ago and it had more damage than this one and it only took them days totalis should not be subjected to this kind of treatment when I pay my premiums every month
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2014/06/09) */
As stated previously, repairs to the Complainant's vehicle were authorized less than three (3) weeks after notice of lossThe Complainant was also informed that further diagnostic tests disclosed that the damages to the vehicle's transmission were an existing issue prior to this claim and unrelated to the loss
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2014/06/10) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
the company is lying about the dammage to the transmissioni check with the dealership and there was no damage to the transmission before I purchased the carthen the insurance company told me that a pot hole could not do that type of damage to a transmissionbut they want me to pay for a fixed bumper that should have been the last thing to fix in the carthe refusal of the insurance company to fix the car left me no choise but to surrender the car back to the banki do not have the money to pay for a tranmission or to fight the company in courtyou pay money to have the insurance the the law says to have, but we the working people are at the mercy of the insurance companyi feel I got screwedi can not pay for a fixed bumper on a car that does not runthis company is all about getting the money and no service

Please be advised that this Company had numerous conversations with the Complainant, in which she was advised of the items pending to process her claim All necessary
documentation to settle this claim was not received until 12/10/15. The allotted medical pay coverage in the amount of $has since been issued to the Complainant

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/04/02) */
Please be advised that repairs to the Complainant Claimant's vehicle were authorized on 01/02/at a preferred body shop, less than one (1) month after notice of lossHowever, the body shop advised that they were unable to complete the
repairs the Complainant's vehicle in a timely mannerTherefore, the Complainant's vehicle was relocated to another repair facility, *** Auto Rebuilders, to commence repairsIt was confirmed with the body shop that repairs to the Complainant's vehicle were completed and that the Complainant signed a release when he took delivery of the vehicle
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2014/04/02) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The first repair *** auto) is exactly where they told me to take the car toSo when they say they approved repair, it was their responsibility to make sure the repair shop completes the jobIt took them until mid February to transfer the car to another shopAnd how could that be my fault when their designated mechanic couldn't do the job? *** from *** told me the company owes him money from a prior job AND THEY NO LONGER work with this insurance companyI explained my health situation to multiple people at the company without any progress all the while the car was sitting for months at *** Then I left a message for the supervisor *** *** They should have provided me with a car while they take eons to supervise and complete a simple repair jobI also filed a complaint with IL DOITheir Complaint/Inquiry # ILXX-XXXXX (X)If it doesn't go anywhere from here, I will take them to the court system because they put someone with a rare neurological disorder through a lot of pain by keeping the car for almost months after the initial accidentI am still request $4,for lost insurance coverage, lost monthly car premium, not providing me with another car and pain and sufferingI also want a direct hearing where I can be face-to-face with the person(s) doing this negligence

Our investigation disclosed that conflicting and misleading information and documentation was provided to the Company in relation to
the claimed lossConsequently, the claim was denied and has been referred to the *** *** *** BureauThe denial letter was forwarded to the Complainant Insured The claim was handled properly and the Complainant was aware of the related investigation necessary to conclude the matter
All rights and defenses are reserved and none are waived or invalidated.Tell us why here

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/05/15) */
Please be advised that a settlement offer was forwarded to the Complainant Claimant, less than one (1) month after notice of loss, based on our appraiser's estimate of the damagesThe Complainant failed to return the signed release and
due to a change in parts availability after days, an increased settlement offer was forwarded to the ComplainantThe Complainant also failed to return the second settlement offerTherefore, in an effort to satisfy the Complainant, our third and final settlement offer, which will remain open for a reasonable time, was forwarded to the Complainant for the amount of his body shop's estimateUpon receipt of the signed release a check will be issued to conclude this matter
This complaint is without merit as there is no delay attributable to this Company and the settlement offer to the Complainant is beyond what is required by this Company
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2014/05/23) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
We do not accept this responseA month after the loss the Insurance company offered an unreasonable amount for the lossWe then had our local repair shop give us an estimate and forwarded to the Insurance CompanyWe have yet to receive a check for the damagesThe insurance company is attempting to underpayThe second offer again was understated and included mathematical errorsWe do not trust this company as they have attempted multiple times to waste time, give incorrect answer's, and underestimate the damages in hopes that the claimant would just go away with less than they deserved
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2014/05/29) */
As stated previously, the final settlement offer was forwarded to the Complainant which was beyond what is required by this Company
The Complainant signed and returned the settlement offer and a check was issued to conclude this matter
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2014/06/04) */

Please be advised that this alleged 03/22/uninsured motorist property damage loss was not reported to this Company until 04/01/
Despite the fact that to date we have not received documentation from the *** Bureau of Motor
Vehicles to determine if the third party claimant is, in fact, an uninsured motorist, in order to satisfy the Complainant a settlement offer for the value of the Complainant's vehicle was forwarded to the Complainant
This complaint is without merit as there was no delay caused by this Company
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2014/06/02) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
this is not an alleged report there is a police report and two witness I also have documentation from your office stating that it was reported to you before 4/1/i can make that document available at anytime and if there was a problem with the day of report it should have addressed before I contacted the Revdex.com the call I made to the *** bureau of motor vehicles is what encourage me to contact the Revdex.com how can it be with out merit when this is the reason you pay insurance and that was not an offer you made (after I contacted the Revdex.com) that was an insult just like your response to this complaint I would like to resolve this issue as soon as possible and move on with another company
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2014/06/12) */
