Horrible customer service. Every attempt to contact them takes a minimum of fourty five minutes for a two
To call and then thaws say they have to find a contractor to help us and they will call back in two hours. Never heard from them. Horrible company to deal with.
Do not find comfort by covering your home by this company. Furnace heat exchange unit went out, they made every excuse in the book to decline a new furnace. Including that the 20 year old 75,000 BTU UNIT WAS TOO MUCH FOR MY SQUARE FOOTAGE. Well, they took my money for 7 years and never asked about my BTU's or Square Feet. Of course BTU's where higher and less efficient 20 years ago. 3 weeks of trying to reach a human, paperwork lag, (they never receive a fax, don't bother, even if they give you a fax number). Dead of winter no heat. Finally paid $2,400 to installer of my choice, turned in the receipt and they offered me $744 cash-in-liu, what they say was their cost to buy and install a new furnace. Really? Try it. Towards the end I had to get authorization to buy a more efficient furnace of lesser BTU, and was told "Of course! Today's furnaces are more efficient, buy whatever BTU you want"
The check cleared and they are fired.
My air conditioner was not cooling so called and filed a claim indicating that repair or replacement was wanted, not just a diagnosis. Very nice gentleman came and indicated that the air conditioner was beyond repair. American Home Shield then indicated that routine maintenance through the years (7-31-13 was last time checked by an HVAC company) had not been done so they would not cover the replacement of the air conditioner.
I am new to AHS as the plan was provided by the seller of my home. We would not have purchased the home without a home warranty. That being said, I'm not sure this warranty was worth the money. I contacted AHS on June 29. I spoke to a representative and expected to hear from a contractor in 24 hours. No one called or e-mailed so I called AHS again. In total I've called 4-5 times and gotten through, usually after a lengthy wait on hold. Each time I was assured I would hear from someone. I was given a contractor's name after call #4 and called them direct. My call was not returned. I have spent several hours on hold and now find that I cannot connect to their website! Is this company still in business?
they refused to cover my heat pump which was well withing the contract coverage and also are refusing to refund the their fees
The worst company I have ever dealt with. I've been trying to get my dishwasher repaired for almost a year. They send out repairmen that don't seem to have a clue. They insist that they have fixed it repeatedly while I am forced to pay a service charge for each attempt to fix it. Now they admit it is beyond repair and are telling me that I need to pay hundreds more to get the same unit. They will replace my stainless with black or white though. Stay away from this horrible company.
Good luck getting your appliance repaired and get ready for a different story every time you call for updated status. Filed an online repair request for my range on 4/27. Service tech was great, but parts were needed. First AHS offered me $200 and change instead of repairing my $3,000.00 range, which of course I declined. 2 parts were in stock and 1 backordered, I asked if the 2 in stock could be shipped so at least I could use part of my range and then a second trip for the backordered part. This was approved by a supervisor on May 4, 2015. After many calls, each telling a different story, promises of return calls, message left for supervisor that are not returned, I just spent another HOUR on the phone transferred from department to department, waiting on hold for over 20 mins., only to once again be told the 2 parts shipped, but they will not provide tracking information. Backordered part will also not ship till at least June 1, but I expect another story by that time.
I have been a customer with AHS since 2008 and I don't know what has changed but they SUCK. I had a problem with my central air and called for service request. We had to wait a week for the people they contacted to come and when the [redacted] got here it was on a Fri. afternoon and he was more concerned with checking his texts then finding the problem. He told AHS that AC coil was dirty, because I had forgot to put filter in, and it needed to be cleaned and lack of maintance cause no one had been hear and checked the unit lately. I was told by that tech. that I should call the people that installed unit and have them come work on it cause he didn't do sheet metal work. A/C still wasn't working right. Called AHS and was called a liar when I complained. Rhonda told me to have the other A/C people to email her directly and that way she could expidite the work order and they did and then came and fixed problem expansion valve. Six weeks later they still haven't payed the bill. What a SCAM!
So I purchased American Home Shield months ago called for a Service because my Air conditioning system quite blowing Cold Air. AMERICAN Home Shield sends out a Chinese man who acted strangely. Did not introduce himself HD no ladder my AIR conditioning is on the roof. He Rawls up the ladder and then starts picking at Condenser with a screw driver. I asked him from the ground why he was doing that. He then removes side panel hooks one gauge coupling to the condenser I Ssume from what I could see and says my IR CONDITIONER IS DAMAGED. American Home Shield Operator tells my wife we damaged the unit. Laughable it is on the roof I am afraid of heights. Noone but the roofers five years ago and America Home Shield has been on. my roof. So we call A[redacted] out he said that whoever Charged the unit last time my have introduced water into the system. A $600 dollar fix. He put in writing NO Leaks. And it is full of Freon. We get a letter from American Home Shield stating if we did not agree a second person can come out. We called American and got some serious Lip from the Operators answeringredients the phone. BEWARE!!
American home shield does not help you when you need them, I needed a repair to my kitchen faucet, the defective part was hard to obtain, I was told that the part will be available on 2-17-17, my problem started 12-15-2016, I have to live without a kitchen faucet for two and half months, when I suggested to their plumber that in this case I need a new faucet, but he told me it is against AHS policy, I had to cancel my membership and get my own plumber to change the faucet. it was a miserable experience.
I had a new AC Air Compressor installed on June 20, 2016. It ran beautifully while my guest was here. On July 1 2016 I turned it on again to cool the entire home for the 4th weekend.Four hours later I found that wing HOT, the unit was blowing only hot air. I submitted the service call online. However, I wanted to find out about the $400 in freon I just paid for the new compressor, When I called the customer service line , I heard the recording that the wait would be approx, 10 minutes. I HAVE BEEN ON THE PHONE WAITING FOR AN OPERATOR for now OVER 55 MINUTES!! When I tried the CHAT feature I kept getting the message that " Our Agents are not available at the moment." No, AHS , I do not feel like a valued customer as your voice recording keeps repeatedly saying.
They state in the contract certain things r covered. When that thing breaks they make u have a technician come out several times so that u have to pay the co-pay several times. Also, if at all possible they rule that it isn't natural wear and tear so that they do not have to replace it like their contract states they will. The companies they use to do their repairs r very sketchy and u would never leave these people for any amount of time in your home as they don't appear trustworthy and I've had them talk about very strange topics. Please be aware. Do not use this company unless u just want to throw your money away.
I have an ONGOING issue that is almost 30 days long now with American Home Shield not 1)communicating with me 2)not communicating with the contract they assigned 3)no follow-up 3)contractor assigned not a local company 4)contractor hooking up an incorrect motor part that is not safe 5)contractor hot wiring our indoor unit to continuously run which has increased our electric bill due to a part they are "unable" to locate, created a hot plug situation that sparks and is a safety hazard to our home/family. This ongoing issue has taken up excessive time away from my two kids (one being a newborn) and created an UNSAFE environment in our home. I want an IMMEDIATE RESPONSE from the Office of the President of AHS to contact me regarding this issue. This is the most horrid experience I have ever been a part of and NO ONE should put a FAMILY at risk and take immediate action to correct and fix the issue. I can't get a hold of anyone with AHS who will help me resolve the issue even when I tell them about the hot plug sparking and water leaking onto the wires in the internal system. I am horrified at the lack of compassion and irresponsibility of this company and its employees. I paid for HOME WARRANTY and I expect to be protected and treated as such.
This is one of the worst warranty companies. I have had multiple experiences with them which have been negative.
1) Recently, my washer had a problem - making loud noise. The service technician, who was a decent and honest, examined and said there is an axle problem which will need to be repaired, and that it will deteriorate with time. And that the washer will need to be replaced because of the problem. After two days of no followup from AHS, I contacted them to learn that the case is closed as there is no mechanical problem because the washer is functional. According to them, the washer should stop working!
2) My toilet was leaking. Service guy comes, looks at the toilet. AHS says the toilet was laid over the floor tile. So it won't be covered. Still haven't figured out from their contract that what clause this is! I called another plumber who did the job for $50.
3) I had a plumbing experience after the fierce winter where the plumber who came was a cheat. Firstly AHS said that they will not cover the problem (as the issue was with the drainage pipe being blocked outside the house). I told the plumber what could be the problem, but he ignored it and wanted to try all expensive approaches. After 3 visits, $300 each (using expensive snake-cameras, etc.), he did what I asked him to - pour hot water in the drain that leaves the house, and the problem was solved. In fact he also wanted to lay a new drain pipe and gave me a quote for that ($8,000)!
Basically, some of the businesses that AHS contracts out run a racket to cheat customers. These rats that AHS hires are bloody cheats. Since you have no control who they send, you are stuck with these rats. So better is to get rid of AHS, and use online review sites like Angies list, Revdex.com, etc, or businesses through referral from friends/family, and get your job done from trusted businesses. This is more economical than paying AHS the yearly premium + service fee + then paying (mostly the rat you let in to your house through AHS) for the problems which AHS will conveniently not cover.
I spoke to the customer service with no positive feedback. Tried canceling, which is not an easy affair (as you will be waiting on the phone line). Unfortunately the contract got automatically extended as I forgot to keep track of the contract termination date. So have to wait another year.
Bottomline: Don't consider AHS. Go with trusted businesses. And most of the real problem you will have will be buried in the contract as "not covered".
Horrific customer service. Waiting for over 2 hours to talk with someone regarding an emergency home issue!!!
I have American Home Shield as my home warranty company and they are horrible. The send out people to fix things that have twice broken more stuff than what was originally wrong with what I needed repaired.
I was a AHS customer, but no longer. When we bought this house we had AHS for warranty. Well, we had to fork out over $10,000 in repairs and fixes to get electric, ac, and plumbing issues fixed. AHS never paid out a penny. AHS never made a deadline. Had to nag them. Sent incompetent people out. Worst waste of money EVER.
An AHS contractor repaired gas water heater on Monday; by Thursday, the gas company was at the house and placed a " hazardous condition" sign on the water heater. Gas leak so severe that the gas technician said, "You could have died." AHS keeps stating someone will call and get us on the schedule and we've heard nothing. Just signed up for this contract in Nov. 2014. Not impressed. Not at all.
Run as fast as you can! I have been trying to get a refund for a repair that they gave an outside authorization for. I put out almost $1200 to a licensed, authorized repair company. They called and got the approval for the repair before performing the service. I sent all the requested information required for my refund to American Home Shield. They acknowledged that they received it. Yet almost two months later I have not been paid. I have made multiple phone calls to them. Been lied to, gotten different versions of what is happening, and even been told to resubmit everything even though they acknowledge receipt of the refund paperwork and a message on my answering machine saying they are processing the refund within five to ten days. That was over ten days ago. Never all back when they say they will. Was told on last call they have not processed anything and want me submit it all again!!!
I purchased a policy for my new home. My home had a severe plumbing issue that caused my home to be uninhabitable. After 4 days of waiting for AHS to process my request for service, AHS could stated they could not find a plumber, so we hired someone on our own. We did not have authorization, so we were not refunded.
Next, my refrigerator started having issues, so I contacted AHS. This time, we were supposed to wait 10 days for a technician. We could not wait 10 days without refrigeration for a technician to come to simply diagnose the situation and then to recommend a solution. I called and requested to cancel the policy for a full refund. Since tAHS was unable to perform, I was promised a full refund since I had never used the benefits.
I called AHS after July 13th, 2 weeks after my May 29th conversation with AHS, and was told to be patient for the refund check to arrive; that it could take 10-14 business days for the check to be processed. Now, 33 days later, I called and was told that I was not due a refund since I canceled the policy after 30 days of owning it, and even though AHS could not perform. The agent Antoniette in TN is rude. This is a dishonest company.
