I used AHS a number of times during one year of service Was always concerned with the amount of time contractor spent with AHS (privately, on the phone) versus the consumer More recently (after service expired), I've come to the conclusion that AHS "cost savings" was the motivator "Cheapest" is their mantra During a garage door repair, the contractor only replaced "one" spring rather that both This guarantees a future visit as the new spring wears out much faster because it has to compensate for the weaker spring No professional repair would do this unless instructed to -- in this case, instructed by AHS How they could ignore the safety risk of the old spring snapping and seriously damaging/injuring is beyond me(no safety cord was installed) Why bother with this type of service where the contractor will work only for AHS and lessen their work quality (without telling consumer) for the sake of saving money for AHS? Find another warranty service where the contractor works for you The warranty service might not pay for "all" but at least the contractor is "working for you"

This is one of the worst warranty companiesI have had multiple experiences with them which have been negative 1) Recently, my washer had a problem - making loud noiseThe service technician, who was a decent and honest, examined and said there is an axle problem which will need to be repaired, and that it will deteriorate with timeAnd that the washer will need to be replaced because of the problemAfter two days of no followup from AHS, I contacted them to learn that the case is closed as there is no mechanical problem because the washer is functionalAccording to them, the washer should stop working! 2) My toilet was leakingService guy comes, looks at the toiletAHS says the toilet was laid over the floor tileSo it won't be coveredStill haven't figured out from their contract that what clause this is! I called another plumber who did the job for $ 3) I had a plumbing experience after the fierce winter where the plumber who came was a cheatFirstly AHS said that they will not cover the problem (as the issue was with the drainage pipe being blocked outside the house)I told the plumber what could be the problem, but he ignored it and wanted to try all expensive approachesAfter visits, $each (using expensive snake-cameras, etc.), he did what I asked him to - pour hot water in the drain that leaves the house, and the problem was solvedIn fact he also wanted to lay a new drain pipe and gave me a quote for that ($8,000)! Basically, some of the businesses that AHS contracts out run a racket to cheat customers These rats that AHS hires are bloody cheatsSince you have no control who they send, you are stuck with these ratsSo better is to get rid of AHS, and use online review sites like Angies list, Revdex.com, etc, or businesses through referral from friends/family, and get your job done from trusted businessesThis is more economical than paying AHS the yearly premium + service fee + then paying (mostly the rat you let in to your house through AHS) for the problems which AHS will conveniently not cover I spoke to the customer service with no positive feedbackTried canceling, which is not an easy affair (as you will be waiting on the phone line)Unfortunately the contract got automatically extended as I forgot to keep track of the contract termination dateSo have to wait another year Bottomline: Don't consider AHSGo with trusted businessesAnd most of the real problem you will have will be buried in the contract as "not covered"

I have been an AHS customer for the last years but I left today AHS has always been slow and hard to get on the phone, but I just had an experience that left me no choice but to cancel my contracts (yes contracts) with them I had a water heater leak at a rental house that has been covered by AHS for yearsI submitted a service request on Monday, December 28thThey are supposed to have a service company call you within hours , none did (which is fairly common with AHS contractors) so I called on Wednesday, Dec 30ththe contractor said that they would try to get to the house on the next dayThey got to the house the next day as promised but said that it would be at least a week before they could install a new water heaterI called AHS to speed this up but they kept transferring me to different lines until I was told that they were shut for the day I had an irate tenant so I paid another contractor to replace the water heaterI then called AHS for some type of reimbursement, but they would not even consider itI guess a week and a half is reasonable to AHS for someone to be without hot water I called a local contractor and he replaced it that very day Just remember that AHS is slow, contracts with only the cheapest contractors, and heaven forbid if you have to get hold of them on the phoneTheir prices keep going up, their service fees keep going up, and their service and response times keep going down After years, I am calling it quitsIt is not worth the poor service or the heartache

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I have been on hold now for one hour and nine minuetes and still holding...listening to their music over and over I was denied repair on a recirc pump that should be working with my water heater The pump does not work at all and therefore I have no hot water Through American Home Shield I requested service When the plumber arrived he needed to get approval to replace the recirc pump, he was told because I dont have water leaking, then I do not qualify for the replacement pumpAccording to my contract the pump is covered It does not say anything about the fact that the pump must me leaking water in order for it to be fixed I requested a supervisor to call me It has been business days and no call back So I called in today to talk with a supervisor and have not been put on hold for one hour and fifteen minutes....and still holding Is this anyway to run a business? I just spoke to someone and he says its an old pump and its not covered I asked to speak to another supervisor and so no on hold again 1:and holding

I don't have experience with other home warranty providers, but these guys are the WORSTThey seem to only have contracts with the worst providers in my area ( I mean the ones with star yelp reviews) who I can never get on the phone, who end up making multiple trips to fix an issue, vendors who don't call to set up an appointment or give a min heads up or a hours window Two days ago I used the AHS chat feature (which took forever) but now I don't see that as an option any longerI was going to send an email to avoid being on hold forever, but no longer can find that in their contact info, so now I am currently on hold and have been for the last minutes

Horrific customer service Waiting for over hours to talk with someone regarding an emergency home issue!!!

Im going to share my situation so potential customers may be aware to not buy coverage from this company Situation- Floors start to show signs of bucklingI wasn't aware why, so I looked up a company that specialized in flooringThey came out and said, I had standing water under the house in my crawl spaceThey told me, that I might have a potential pluming issue Called AHS and told them there was water under the house in a crawl space and it might be due to a pluming issueThey sent out a pluming company but also said that they don't cover "flooding"If the water was due to a broken pipe, they might send out an adjuster to check the damageI paid the $dollar service fee and the Plummer said we I good to go, no broken pipes So at this point, I have "no broken, leaking pipes", still have standing water, AHS doesn't cover "flooding", which all translate to me that I either have to figure it out myself or contract a company to do so Called a crawl space company, long story short, the want $20k to encapsulate my crawl space So I went under my house and started to clean out the standing waterThere was a tarp that was laid under the house covering the dirt floor, which was covering the main sewage pipeUpon removing this tarp, I immediately notice that the main sewage pipe was broken in two with a ½ inch gapSo I called AHS to let them know that the Plummer that they sent out, failed to notice thatThey issued a recall, the company called back saying that they couldn't get back to my house until next Tuesday the 18th and I made this call on a Thursday the 13thSo I had to be out of my home for a period of days, with my wife and kids because they could come out on a recallI expressed that this was an emergency and needed their services and the rep told me that they couldn't do anything because they contract the services, that if I wanted I can go outside the insurance I have and hire a Plummer at my own expenseWhat type of company says that? And they expect me to get a hotel for basically a week and live in that health hazard and wait on them, when they had an opening? I asked to speak to a supervisor who helped out and dropped the recall and sent my trouble ticket to the "dispatcher" and hopefully someone can pick it up and try to fix it that same day or maybe the weekend Received a call that a company will be coming out the very next day , so I only had to get a hotel foe daysThey showed up, went under the house and basically told me yeah your pipe is broken but we can fix it because of the standing water that is there, it's a health hazard and we cant work on your pipeSo there goes another $dollars just for them to tell me what I know already and that they cant do anything until the water is gone, which AHS doesn't cover Called a local company to get an estimate on the cleanup; they want $dollars So all this back and forth with AHS on what they cover, what they don't, the wait game with the services, the extra money I have to dish out is becoming so complexIn the end they told me that if the water didn't cause the damage to my floors, it wouldn't be covered, that the moisture that the water gave off doesn't count as "damage" under the insurance So in the end this is my understanding of AHS: Don't cover "flooding" Pluming company that is contracted by AHS doesn't know what a broken pipe looks like Pluming company that is contracted by AHS doesn't do emergencies, only what's on their schedule AHS doesn't cover "Secondary damage" even if the pipe was broken, water got everywhere, but because the water wasn't basically on top of the floor, it doesn't count So remind me, why I'm paying into a company that doesn't fix any one of my issues I had? The end result; it took me a $dollar vacuum to take out the water and a $dollar piece to fix my own pipe Oh yeah, they never called like they said they wouldThanks for the outstanding customer service I don't want a call back from somebody up top, I don't want them trying to fix what should have never happened in the first place, I don't want anythingI'm just parting ways and ensuring that future customers don't go through this headache and pain, especially if they have kidsI'm dropping them

I was looking for a Home warranty plan and American Home Shield came up with great reviews I went to their online site, put in my information and received a quote that was pretty reasonable I "chatted" online with a representative who showed me a discount they were having and how I could get the discount I purchased my warranty online with the monthly payment plan option I received the discount and an email verifying my purchase and stating the plan should take effect days after purchase days later, I noticed I did not receive my contract as the email implied I went online and chatted again but the representative could not find me in the system so gave me an number to call Called and the lady could not find me so she transferred me to another number The last lady told me I had to reprocess my contract even after I told her I could show her the email that came from American Home Shield and she could care less I was appalled The email showed evidence that something on their end "FAILED" I went with a competitor and spoke with the guy on the phone with a validated confirmation ##, name, etcto make sure I actually got coverage this time

We are ending our contract with AHS because of terribly bad customer service (hold times of minutes consistently on a recurring issue) and the very poor coverage that they actually provide for servicing an old heat pump that needs to be replacedVery disappointed in this company

After several years of doing business with American Home Shield and never having any payment issues with my account, I am extremely appalled with the level of professionalism extended to me when I experience my first account discrepancy I have made multiple calls to resolve my issue and requested to speak to a supervisor There was never a supervisor available so I was promised a return call that never happened Each representative treat me in a matter-of-fact manner and did not seem to want to address my concern,

this is a total sham They give you the service when you purchase a home you can never speak to a live body about a claim I did have a water heater that failed I called to put in a claim and they gave me the total run around I could never speak to a person that simply did not want more money from me I would never pay dollars a year for their coverage it is a total scam

Horrible, horrible service! My client has a year old air conditioner that AHS says does not have a leak, but they continue to charge it We hired an independent contractor at our field representative's suggestion and lo and behold...there was a leak! But, AHS said they still had to have it proven by their hired contractor They came out and found a leak (of course this is after my client paid to have the independent inspection!) They attempted to fix it and broke a bolt and now the leak is worse The contractor said he could replace the coil and fix it My client called me this evening and the AC is no longer working He was on hold for over an hour and finally hung up And on top of this it took weeks to receive a return call for an electrical issue he has with a fan RESOLUTION: My client paid for a warranty and the AC is not working, it is no longer fixable and he should receive a new AC unit ASAP and compensation for the service calls he was told to make and for the continue cost of the charges to the AC

F minus in customer serviceHave been under Home Warranty with this company for monthsContinual issues regarding heating and cooling systemsI have called then approximately times in monthsI have ALWAYS been put on hold for at least minutesToday I held for minutesAnd, learned that the person I spoke with at 7pm last night (held from 6:24) DID NOT call the company to schedule AC repair as promisedThe company that had previously been dispatched no longer wants to take the service requests from AHS because it's "too far and they won't pay to adequately repair systems."" So now I have tracked down another company who said they do work for AHS and have been promised a call within an hourThat was hours agoUnbelievably bad serviceSay itDo itStop lyingStop putting me off

We bought a new house and requested a Home Warranty as a condition of purchase American Home Shield is what we got I'm Years old and I've never run into a company as ineffective as AHS We had a hot water heater go bad; it was spewing water out of the top of the unit, on June We called AHS who sent a plumber out a few days later He said he could do the job, but would need me to build him a walkway in the attic I should note at this point that the Hot Water Heater in question has an access hole built into a closet which is right in front of where it sits in the attic I requested that they determine what my "Cash in Lieu" value would be and asked them to send out a 2nd plumber They informed me that they could not do both at the same time The 2nd plumber arrived a few days later and said it would be no problem to use the access point right in front of the unit I thought "good" we're finally going to get our hot water heater fixed I had to wait a day for them to get his report and I called AHS back They had decided to go with the first plumber, and would take no action unless I built him a walkway from the access point he wanted to use After two and half weeks without a water heater, we called a reputable plumber who came out the same day and did the work the following day I paid $to have the hot water heater replaced We still don't have anything from AHS, but they did estimate the total cost to purchase a Hot Water heater and install it was $ They are sending me a check for that amount A couple things to note when using this company: 1) You must be willing to do without your appliances for at least a week under circumstances, and longer if issues arise 2) You will always wait for Minutes or more before talking to someone When I say "always" this is the demonstrated call waits in the 10+ calls I've made to them Some hold times were longer than one hour 3) They do not care about your individual situation, nor will they pretend to do so 4) You must be willing to have work done in your home by low rated local contractors AHS does not use the top rated professionals in your local area They use the people that you probably wouldn't call to perform work in your home (For example, the first plumber offered a day warranty on his work The plumber that I called that did the work offers a year warranty on labor and on the unit) 5) Their internal processes are deliberately designed to slow things down Nothing happens quickly with this company I asked to speak to a supervisor and that immediately cancels any other action that you currently have open on your account We had a "Cash in Lieu" determination in the works, which was immediately cancelled when I asked to speak to a supervisor The supervisor had to "restart" the "Cash in Lieu" determination and I was put back in the queue So, be wary of asking for a supervisor Oh, and BTW, A supervisor will call you back in Business Hours (That's days) When buying a house you have a choice in Warranty companies I would not recommend this one

I am having a very difficult time with customer service at AHS Four phone calls later, I still cannot get my service fee that I do not owe removed I had to pay a transfer fee since the wrong company showed up to do our service I did that but AHS chargerd me for the first company as well My account is locked up, the wait time is very long and the only explanation I get is that information has been recorded incorrectly by previous customer service representives

I have been a faithful customer with AHS for years but in the last few months I have had issues that took over weeks to get fixed I just learned that AHS requires the companies that they assign your problem to have to order the repair parts from AHS and they never send anything out immediately My washer took a month to get repairs and as of today my dryer, after weeks, still hasn't been fixed When a request for a part comes in it should go out overnight for what I am paying AHS monthly

American Home Shield: Read the fine print It's not what it seems *Replacement guarantee for failed appliances that can't be repaired: This sounds good, right? In reality the customer is subjected to an endless process of repeat repairs that take days to schedule, days to weeks to order parts I gave up after a month without a washer, repeatedly having to take off work for midDay appointments If a replacement were to occur there is no guarantee that you would receive an equivalent unit, only an equivalent part to the one that needed replacement For most household items, you're better off purchasing the in-store warranty than shelling out $plus for an annual contract I've had better success dealing with L***, S [redacted] and with better quality service contractors For the most minimal of issues, it may be worth it, but for any major breakdowns, expect exclusions, only part coverage (e.gair conditioner coolant is covered at $10/lb It cost $50/lb), or a interminable process of repeat visits to try to replace appliances that are beyond repair

I discovered that if I saved my annual payment (about $annually) in a special account for repairs, I could call quality contractors on my on, and not have to pay AHS for their shoddy selection of servicemen The deductible seems to be actually more than the work that was ever performed I've been with them for 9yrs and am tired of the "bandaid" policy Today, I am quitting the AHS game of waiting at length for contractor to call meIts been more than 72hrs and my a/c diedIt dies about every year or soI am tired of the freon fleecing If I get a call, it will be too late because I've moved on to reputable contractor to upgrade my systemI'm out

I just literally spent hour and minutes on the phone with AHS I just bought a new home and my agent covered me with them I needed heating repair and they assigned me a company that was incredibly rude The person called me and literally told me when he was coming without even asking me what my schedule was When I told him it wasn't ok with me, he then told me he would call me back to reschedule later I asked why we couldn't do this now, as we were speaking already, he said no, he would call me Sunday to schedule for Monday or Tuesday (It was Friday that he originally called) Uncomfortable with this behavior, I called AHS to ask for another company and that I would not be comfortable with the one they had assigned coming into my home They said that they were unable to do that, asked if it was just the scheduler and not the service person and that they would need to call the company I informed them that they can call the company if they wished but that I was not ok with them coming into my home The next HOUR was me asking to speak with a supervisor when all I wanted was to have another company come This was unbelievable the customer service stinks As it stands, after an hour of insisting, they were able to cancel my appointment with the original company and scheduled me with another By the way, this will be days since my original request for service of heating I will be waiting a phone call from a "supervisor"...apparently they are too busy to speak to customers on the phone immediately Perhaps too many complaints?!?!?!?!

I have policies for separate homes, and my recent experiences have been terribleContractors used by AHS are unprofessional, unreliable, and have bad reputations Calling AHS customer service is beyond frustrating, I am writing this while I am waiting to speak to a representative, I have been waiting minutes, and their little speeches of 'Your call is important to us, etc.' are laughable Who runs this joke of a corporation? How can anyone be proud of working at such a company? No wonder customer service is non-existent, the leadership of the company seems to be absent or uninterested in customer satisfaction
