Not very customer oriented. I have been having a reoccurring problem with my range oven turning on the broiler while baking. It does this without warning and has burnt a turkey and some pies. There is no way to predict this event and a repair person per AHS policy will not do anything unless he sees it happen. I suggested that I videotape the next occurence so they can see what the displays are showing. AHS refuses to accept this suggestion which leaves me with a very unsafe and unpredictable situation. This problem has happened without warning 4 times in less than a month. It almost started a fire with the turkey and is a very dangerous condition. Research on the web shows others having similar problems and the only fix is replacing the oven control board. This leaves me with a very difficult situation.
American Home Sheild is the worst company I have ever delt with. I have had a broken AC for 3 weeks now. I have called numerous times waiting on hold for 45 min to hour each time. I always get a different story. One excuse after another. I cant believe they are still in business.
I've been a member of AHS for 2 years now and for the first year, their service was awesome. Of course as long as your service requests can be resolved with as little money as possible, they will help you out. Once you start having major issues, they will do their best to drag out the issue as long as possible in hopes that you become frustrated and give up on them and have the issue repaired on your own dime. It's for this reason that I decided to cancel my service. Be advised, if you talk to an account manager alone about cancelling your service, you will continue to be billed even after your contract expires. Initially we had to sign a document and send payment to renew our contract but now it seems that contracts renew automatically. You have to speak to someone in the "Retention Department" and have them verbally confirm that you wish to end your contract, in which case you're given no confirmation number....you're told that a confirmation letter is being sent in the mail. Also, good luck speaking to a manager. Apparently they work the best hours of any job I've ever heard of.
You're better off saving your money should your home need repairs. This company is a joke, and that's putting it nicely.
My A/C went out on a Monday and I immediately reached out to this company to schedule a visit from a technician. I did not hear anything from the company for 48 hours and had to call once again to get somebody on the phone (after a 45 minute wait). They then choose to tell me that it will not be until Friday that the company can come to my house to inspect the unit. It is 100 degrees plus in my hometown and my house is 90 degrees on the inside! After the contractor comes out he tells me I will have to reach out to the AHS again to see what our next steps will be. I gave AHS a call on Monday morning at 9:00 a.m and they did not even have any notes in the system where the contractor had came out, it had been 72 hours since my unit was looked at. AHS then proceeds to tell me that I am going to have to pay 90% of the repair costs because my unit would have to be modified in order to fix the issue and they do not cover modifications. The whole purpose of a warranty claim is to have a problem fixed, all that this company has done has given any excuse as to why they do not want to do their job and fix my A/C! We discussed the option of a pay out for what pitiful amount they would be willing to cover and they said that they would call me back within 24 hours. That was on Monday and it is now Wednesday and I have not heard a single thing back from them. I have called and been on hold for another hour without any answer. I wasted $500 for a useless warranty.
DO NOT GET AMERICAN HOME SHIELD!! BY FAR THE WORST COMPANY EVER! I REGRET THE DAY I SWITCHED! TOOK THEM 2 MONTHS TO REPAIR A 200 DOLLAR PART ON MY FRIDGE. THEY HIRE LOW COST CRAPPY CONTRACTORS WHO ARE JUST AS BAD AS THEY ARE. YOU WILL FET THE RUN AROUND ON PARTS. LITERALLY TOOK THEM 2 MONTHS TO ORDER MY PART. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT HIRE THEM!!!!
This service is a waste of your money. Every single repair service they've sent to us has done a horrible job. Every single time one of their vendors has "fixed" something for us, it's had to be repaired again or completely replaced within a month. Most recently, when we had no hot water, we were made to wait 4 days with no running hot water for a technician to come out. They gave us a 6 hour window that we had to wait for them, missing an entire day of work, and then they showed up over 2 hours beyond that time frame. The technician then refused to diagnose or even touch our hot water heater and left. American Home Shield called that a service visit and expected us to pay $80 for it. When I disputed the claim, explaining that we'd waited 4 days for an appointment, had to wait through a 6 hour appointment window when our day finally came, they showed up over 2 hours later than that, and then refused to service our hot water heater, they said that counted as a service call and we would have to pay. It is a scam. They work with low rated companies who do a terrible job and overcharge you for it.
I've had AHS for 7 years for 2 properties. Over the years, their service has been, at best, mediocre, but we endured. First, they will send out contractors that should never be on their list of referrals. When you complain to them about the experience regarding said contractor, you are treated like a pesky annoyance that they don't have time for - but they sure have time to keep taking your money. Customer service is abrupt and rude - which is why I would always prefer scheduling service calls online - IF AND WHEN it was working. As of late, the reason I decided to take my business elsewhere, is because we needed to schedule a service call for our rental property. They claimed they could not do that until I paid an unpaid service fee from over a year ago (of course, this does not prevent them from continuing their monthly ACH from your account for that years time). I questioned how it was that I owed something from over a year ago and was never contacted or notified? It didn't make sense to me that I would not have received notice after notice attempting to collect $75 bucks (AHS isn't that kind). The lady I spoke with (escalation dept - HA) could give zero explanation as to why I never received billing and had no evidence to substantiate their claim that I had ever been sent a bill. She talked over me robotically that a bill must have been sent. Therefore, I am supposed to pay a service fee (that I most likely had already paid) AGAIN so that they would resume providing me the service that I had been paying for all along. when I commented that I'd been a customer for many years (always paying EVERYTHING owed) and is this how you handle long term customers - all over a $75 discrepancy? AHS could not prove to me that I had NOT paid. After determining that its time to take my business elsewhere, I did my research and found a cleared check cashed by AHS for the said amount and timeframe. It is clear that they would rather put the customer on the defensive, make you prove your payment to THEM before honoring the contract you have been paying diligently for years (and without much use to boot). There has got to be a better place to spend my money. Bye bye AHS - you have lots of improving to do ! That is clear by your 94% negative rating.
Very Poor Company. Not Recommended. Signed up for AHS through W[redacted] F[redacted] Mortgage. The oven would not heat up. Called AHS. Long wait times on phone. They sent request to local Phoenix company. After two day wait the company called to say they didn't service the brand (Decor) but they would pass the request back to AHS and they would call. Didn't hear back so on second day called. AHS gave me name of local company. Didn't hear back. Second day called Local company (Arizona Value Appliance). Appointment 2 days later for between 8 and 1. Arrived at 3:10. Said fixed, no change. Called Local company again to report no change. Referred back to AHS to start over because "ticket had been closed". Only possible value in AHS is a major system replacement.
I have had a very bad experience with American Home Shield for the last 3 years. It is very hard to reach them when there is an issue that needs to be resolved. The latest service request to fix my house heater did not get addressed for 2 weeks, and we had to stay in cold temperature during this time.
Now I am trying to cancel my request, and cancelling is also becoming an ordeal, staying over the phone over 30 minutes before hanging up the phone as no one picks up the phone.
Do NOT contract with American Home Shield. This company contracts with low grade vendors that do not provide good service. I've had problems with pool companies and Plumbers supposedly on "Emergency calls" that do not even call within 24 hours. After waiting on hold for 30 minutes with AHS you will get customer service that is rude and people that clearly do not want to take the time to give clear explanations of their own company protocols. Clearly AHS doesn't really care if your issue is resolved by the low grade vendors they contract with to "help" you with your home problems.
I used AHS once and found that I can manage finding someone on the internet to do the job myself instead of paying $100 for the service call and the monthly $42 fee plus parts and labor. Once I figured this out I tried to cancel so I read the internet site for AHS on how to cancel and the only way is to call them. So, I called them and cancelled. A month later I received a bill for $42.00 so I called them and they said they would take care of it don't worry about it. Now I have a bill for $84.66 and they say I have to speak to the retention department so the nice lady at AHS tried to connect me and she could not get through to them and its 1230 in the afternoon. I asked if I could email them and they said no the only way is to call. They make it so had to cancel service and the make it so inconvenient for you at the same time still charging you until its fully cancelled. Do not get service with this company its a scam. If you want a discount for appliances its cheaper not to use t
Do NOT deal with this company!!! I paid for the service for 3 years. When I finally needed the repair, after submitting the service request, I got a phone call saying that another company will call me. However, no one contacted me. We went without heater for 2 days. I finally paid someone else to get my heater fix. I just called them to cancel the warranty. They said someone from the cancellation department will call me within 48 hours. AGAIN, AVOID THEM!!!
I have called them out on two different issues and both times have not been happy. First time maybe right but handling badly with a water issue. We made to repair and paid an inflated rate for what they did, but workers were great. Second call several months later was horrible. Took three visits and none resolved completely/mainly because each person didn't know what they were supposed to do and did not have things to correct the problem or what they were suppose to do. If you think that is vague you will know how I felt!
Long term AHS customers, Cancelled our plan today, waste so many hours calling AHS, constantly on hold. It took 1 hour of being transferred 3 x today, and given 2 different. phone numbers to call for trying to cancel. So I looked up the corporate phone number to try to get assistance, quickly I was given another phone number. I said this is one of the main reasons we are cancelling, Lack of customer service, I don't have 90 min. to spend for each phone call to AHS. Not to mention recently AHS charged our account 3X the amount of the monthly premium. Their customer service reps are not even capable of transferring calls to the correct dept. It is definitely not like it use to be. And there are other top ten companies in the USA that will treat you like a customer. And AHS is not on that list.
I have had them for years and they have been nothing but problems! Always deny claim, send contractors that find all "extra" things to charge you! I would love to see this company investigated by someone.
Very poor service. This company seems to be so big they can't get anything done.
Someone can you please investigate this company: American Home Shield. At first it seems like it gives you hope; especially as a single parent with a disabled daughter. This is nuts that I have to pay for something and still has to call people that can really help me outside of this company warranty. I hope something can be done ASAP. Just find out if they are able to back up the contract or not. If so, do so;; if not, just do not charge anything and give people their money back. Otherwise, please help us cancel as I have been on the line at least 30 minutes or more and no one has come to the phone yet. I am right no on hold and need to just cancel this program. HELP ME please to get out of this. I hope they do not take any more monthly payments for my automatic payments. They have been doing so since April - that's 4 months; and now August is right around the corner. I can tell you more if you need me to I am[redacted].
Thanks!
Don't do it!!! I am sitting without air conditioning in Phoenix for 4 days now. it is 108 degrees outside. The AHS vendor never called so I reached them finally and they said it would be over a week and to call AHS and get another vendor.
I immediately called AHS, waited over 40 minutes on hold and was told they would not dispatch a new vendor without confirmation.
Called again this evening. Waited over an hour on hold and when a rep finally came on, I was disconnected! Still without AC. My AHS is worthless!!
Do yourself a favor, stay away from them!
Buyer beware! Terrible company! Insanely long hold times, very long wait for repairs, rude service agents and terrible contractors. Each contractor that we were actually able to schedule an appt with stated they hate working with AHS. Many other companies provide better service and value!
I am writing out of frustration. To date our service has been acceptable; however, with a 25% increase in our premium the second year, we felt we were being gouged and perhaps asked to pay AHS what they paid for our claim. When I tried to speak with someone at AHS about our concern in our premium increase, I was given the standard speech about rising costs, etc. I asked if there was a manager or someone to whom I could appeal this unusually high increase and was told I could either stay with the company and pay or not. There was no one else. Their mistake--now I'm speaking to thousands. After reading some of these many complaints I can see where the extra premium is going--legal fees, etc. Very disappointed in conversation with Kevin. It may as well have been a robot. Please accurately reflect the rating for this company. With 94% negative reviews it should not be a B.
