American Transport Reviews (74)

I needed my 2009 Hyundai Tucson shipped from Rhode Island to Tampa, Fl for the snowbird season. I called several people mostly brokers and got several quotes from 750 to 1100. I did come across American Transport which was in the ballpark at 925. Jim told me it would be cheaper if I dropped the vehicle at his terminal but decided against that because I had no one to follow me. In talking with Jim he went to the same college as one of my sons and we chatted about that and several other things. We discussed dates and pick up times and everything seem to line up. I liked dealing with a local company and decided to go with American Transport. Everything worked out great and the car arrived at the terminal and I took a 10 minute shuttle ride from the airport to get it. I will be using American Transport in the spring to get my car back

I need my parents car transported to florida for the winter. After searching the internet and getting quotes from several companies I decided to go with Jim at American Transport. I was in [redacted] N.H. and needed the vehicle transported to [redacted] FL Jim explained to me that he usually meets people at the [redacted] parking lot in [redacted] N.H as it is a big lot and close to the highway. I met with Jim on a Tuesday and the vehicle was held at his terminal in Worcester for a couple of days as my parents were not going to be there until the week after. My parents arrived and the car was dropped off two days later. Everything went great.

I dropped my daughter's car off in Worcester at American Transport terminal he told me there would be a discount if I did. The car left the next day and was transport down to the Miami to my daughter at the [redacted] Everything went smoothly took about 4 days. I would you American Transport again when my daughter is ready to come home. Jim was always available via e-mail or phone.

I needed my son's car transport to Massachusetts from Miami, Fl. After doing a couple of searches on the internet and called a couple of brokers. I got in touch with American Transport and talked with Jim. He mention he does go to Miami but only uses a terminal in Opa Locka, Fl because of the amount of traffic. We took the vehicle to the terminal and it was checked in. It was transported to American Transport terminal in Worcester. My son was able to pick it up on a Saturday. Everything worked out great and the car was delivered on time.

I needed my vehicle shipped from Florida to Mass. I was leaving on a flight on Feb 25th and needed a carrier to move my vehicle. I contacted American transport after a friend told me he used the company in the fall. I talked to Jim and he advised he had a terminal in West Palm Beach very close to the airport and I could drop the vehicle there and take a shuttle over to catch my flight. The vehicle did arrive a couple days late, but the convenience was the key getting to the airport and having the car up to the day I left. Jim was great during the process.

I hired Mr. [redacted] to transport my dad's car down to Florida and he brokered the job out to Sunshine Transport which is located in Florida. When my dad finally took delivery of the car the battery was dead, the window was left open and the rear bumper had several deep scratches on it. My dad could not see the scratches when he signed the release because the car was so dirty. He had to wash it three times to see the paint. Since then I have corresponded with parties and they won't take responsibility. They did however tell me to take it to "their" auto body shop and they will fix it. My dad did go to their body shop and also two others to get estimates and they said they would only fix the car if it's done by their body shop which we will not do. I have all the correspondence of both parties as proof.Product_Or_Service: Transport carDesired SettlementWe would like the car to be repaired by a reputable auto body shop.Business Response The vehicle was picked up in Rhode Island as a carrier/broker I do over 100 cars a month during snowbird season so this is what happen the car left my terminal was dropped off in a normal amount of time. There was a BOL inspection when the vehicle was picked up and customer was given a copy. In addition when the vehicle left the terminal on 11/20/2014 I sent them an e-mail saying the following at the bottom of itThere should have been a BOL Bill of lading when the vehicle was picked up. When the vehicle is dropped please check that it is the same condition when it left. Please mark any damages on the BOL before signing. Once signed it relieved company/driver of any liability no further action can be taking. The rear window was not left open it was wet inside the drivers side door because it was raining both on drop off and pick up the window has to be open to drive the vehicle up and down the trailerIn addition on the BOL on the front page it has the following (by signing it releases the xxxx of all claims. Also, on the contract that was sign 11/6/2014 section D tells the same thing as above. We told her to take it to our body shop remember we didn't have to do it at all the paperwork was sign releasing us from any damages. First that is not the way I do business and we had no problem fixing it. In the contract that was signed section G states we reserve the right to use our body shop which in fact we were trying to do. The customer advised it was in a bad area and the price was too cheap and didn't want to do it. There was a couple of scratches on the back bumper which we had no problem fixing. I believe the customer is being unreasonable and we have done all we could do in this case.Consumer Response As per your request I am writing to you in regards to this matter. The transport Company that my dad had a contract with brokered out the job and they damaged his vehicle. The name of the Company that he hired is Sunshine Transport and they delivered the car with a dead battery, open window that had been taped with a plastic bag and duct tape and a badly scratched bumper. My dad had to wash the car three times to see all the scratches on his bumper so that is how bad the car was. I do have a witness to the condition of the car when it was delivered and also I have pictures which I will get to you as soon as possible. Thanks, [redacted]Business Response The BOL (Bill of Lading) was signed at drop off releasing the company of any responsibility of damages. We offered to get it fixed at our body shop but she decline saying it was in a bad area. Per out contract we have the right to use our body shop. I believe we have done more then enough. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)We are not required to go to their so called body shop which is basically run out of someone's house and if they don't think they are responsible why would they offer to get it fixed. Obviously they know that they damaged the car otherwise they wouldn't even suggest it. We did get three estimates and they refused all of them because they don't want to pay. I also want to mention the way they treated an 81 year old man. "very unprofessional"

Having never had the need to tranpsort a car, I was a bit overwhelmed with trying to figure it all out. Jim's website was full of valuable information and made my decision making so much easier. Jim always answered his phone himself and he responded quickly to my emails and texts as well. Although my car was dirty from the ride, it arrived in fabulous condition. The truck driver was very accomodating and kept me informed of his arrival time. I would not hesitate using American Transport again, and I would highly recommend him to anyone needing transport assistance.

After calling several companies online I came across American Transport doing a auto transport search in Massachusetts. I picked up the phone and called them. Jim answered the phone and we talked for awhile. I was looking to go to the Tampa area. Jim explain he had a terminal 10 minutes from the airport and a shuttle van will pick you up and give you a ride for 10 dollars. He mention he needed the car 10 days or so before to ship it. I agreed to do this because I had another car up here in Mass. I drove the car to his terminal as it was cheaper then him picking it up. Everything worked out great and we will be using his service in the spring.

My experience with American Transport was excellent. I needed 2 cars shipped from Mass to Ohio and 1 coming back. As a company we decided to use American Transport . Jim was able to find 2 different companies which was fine. The whole process went smoothly as 1 car arrived late but with traffic that was ok. We would use American Transport again.
