On 8/21/2015, *** *** * *** *** ***, electronically agreed to advertise with Angie’s List for one year per the attached agreementWe require each prospective advertiser to sign a contract outlining the services Angie’s List will render, the relevant categories and the ad rate a service provider must pay for these servicesEach contract includes a standard cancellation fee of 35% of the remaining balance of the agreementOur advertising can never guarantee lead generation or a certain number of phone calls per week; instead it guarantees placement on the website
We have reviewed our sales process, and though we feel strongly that we did properly describe the nature of our advertising program and the extension we offered as a customer service gesture, we did not find that our early termination fee was explained as thoroughly as we would have likedWe have agreed to consider the contract cancelled as of April 25th, 2016, and to waive our standard early termination fee
In terms of the portion of her advertising that already ran, Ms***’s advertisement was running as she agreed, and this payment was due for services renderedAs we have found that our advertising ran as agreed, Angie’s List is not willing to refund any portion of the payment made for services rendered
I sincerely apologize that Ms*** is disappointed with their experience with Angie’s ListWe have worked to accommodate Ms*** in light of any confusion

Thank you for helping me to resolve this issue. I had tried calling the number provided by the Angie's List representative multiple times per day, and I was always told that what I was asking them to do was physically impossible. Your assistance allowed the problem to be remedied immediately

*** ***Once again I'll say - you can't fight with a big company like this - They say the notes show one thing and when you prove your case - they say the person that wrote the note was wrong - so other words It's what ever the person your talking to - I have all my bank statements of payments - But they say they show a missed paymentTO ANYONE reading this - keep In mind that the notes they keep don't mean a thing If It doesn't sync with what they say - and any proof that you have for payment also means nothingThis all happened because I made a deal with my account rep to cancel my contract after six months - and once the person left angies list the company wont honor the agreement - like I said, ya can fight city hall

We require each prospective advertiser to sign a contract outlining the services Angie’s List will render, the relevant categories and the ad rate a service provider must pay for these servicesEach contract includes a standard cancellation fee of 35% of the remaining balance of the agreement. In light of any frustration or misunderstanding during the sales process, Angie’s List will consider Ms***’s contract to be terminated. We are currently in the processing of cancelling the contract and removing Ms***’s company from our web advertisements. against our company. I’d like to start by offering a sincere apology to Ms*** for the frustration this process has caused. Ms*** purchased an offer from the company, *** *** on September 12, While the offer could be redeemed within one year, the day refund policy was explained to Ms*** when she recently contacted Angie’s List along with her other options relating to the purchase. As a courtesy, the team handling Ms***’s concerns refunded the offer on 4/20/in the amount of $199.00. Additionally, I have refunded her membership fees in full that she paid in July, 2014. Those fees totaled $28.79. Ms*** was not charged $which she mentioned in her complaint. I find it regrettable that we left Ms*** feeling she had no recourse but to contact the Revdex.comWe strive to provide top-notch service to our members. I’d like to start by offering a sincere apology to Mr*** for the poor experience in pursuit of his Big Deal refundAccording to our records, Mr*** contacted us on 8/2/to ask for a refund on his $deal purchase, which was made on 10/13/All Angie’s List eCommerce purchases have a Day Refund Guarantee. All members must request a refund within days of purchaseSince Mr*** has refused to accept the ‘Membership Agreement’ for the Angie’s List website or to work with a representative with Angie’s List to attempt to resolve his request, I have elected to make an exception to the Day Refund Guarantee and have processed Mr***’s $refund and the funds have been processed back to his financial institutionI have also cancelled Mr***’s Angie’s List membership and issued a prorated refund in the amount of $for the amount of time that has not been used. All Angie’s List members must agree to the ‘Membership Agreement’ released by Angie’s List in order to remain a member and use our website I find it regrettable that we left Mr*** feeling he had no recourse but to contact the Revdex.comWe strive to provide top-notch service to our members Thanks again for the opportunity to respond to this complaintPlease let me know if we can provide any further information. I’d like to start by offering a sincere apology to Mr*** for any frustration regarding our auto renewal programThis program was implemented as a result of member feedback indicating it would be convenient to renew without being required to call or mail in a request to do soWe acknowledge that with every improvement, we run the risk of offending a small portion of our membersSome people, caught off guard when their renewal goes through, clearly do not benefit from this intended convenienceBecause of this, Angie’s List strives to make sure that each member has the opportunity to learn about the program prior to paying for a membership, and we employ customer-friendly refund policies for situations such as thisThe following notification appeared on the online “Join” page that Mr*** used to sign up for a membership through our website on 01/08/2014: Continuous Service Membership: To ensure uninterrupted service, all Angie's List memberships are renewed automatically, using the credit card on fileAll of our annual memberships are renewed at the current membership rate on the first day of the month in which the current membership term ends, while monthly memberships are renewed at the current membership rate on the date in which the current membership term endsYou may cancel at any timeAnnual memberships are backed by our 110% money back, satisfaction guaranteeSorry, no refunds for monthly memberships.Additionally, this information is included in the welcome packet that is sent to the member’s home after signing up. Mr*** contacted us via email and phone on 01/08/requesting cancellation of his membership. After the phone call, his account was set to not renew in the future, and he was refunded the full cost of his membership The amount of $was credited back to Mr***’s PayPal account on 1/8/2015. I find it regrettable that we have failed Mr***We strive to provide top-notch service to our membersAgain, we sincerely apologize for any frustration this caused. I have confirmed that the credit card used for the original membership purchase and all subsequent automatic renewals of her membership were listed in her name. Ms*** has also left reviews on companies she has used dating back to June 24, Ms*** agreed to automatic renewal on her account when she joined and had been automatically renewing her membership for a decade. Ms*** requested to receive an email notification prior to each automatic renewal. Angie’s List sends out the email notification roughly days prior to the automatic renewal of her membership. Ms*** emailed Angie’s List last on 3/30/to request the cancellation and refund of her membership. Ms***’s account has been cancelled and refunded back to the original form of payment at this time. Since Ms*** indicated that her card was compromised and a new card was issued by her bank, there should be no issues with refund being routed back to the same account under her new card. If Ms*** has any issues locating the funds for her refund, she will need to contact her financial institution Ms*** is certainly entitled to her opinions of Angie’s List, however I would like to point out that the Fair Price Guarantee and Service Quality Guarantee were offered to Angie’s List members as benefit. All Big Deals are governed by contracts with exact parameters for the service being offered. If a company is not honoring the offer as written, it would not qualify for assistance through the Fair Price or Service Quality Guarantee. The details and terms and conditions for these programs are available on the Angie’s List website. Angie’s List is sorry to see such a tenured customer go. Ms*** originally contacted Angie’s List on 5/17/informing us that the service could not be fully completed due to the paint chipping on her deckAs a member based service, Angie’s List offers service providers, who have earned high grades, the opportunity to advertise through coupons and ecommerce on our websiteThe Angie’s List Big Deal is a voucher for services from the provider that it is purchased withOnce work has been started, the provider is responsible for all funds paid for the service, regardless of Angie’s List percentage take. Angie’s List keeps a percentage of the service voucher because the services offered are marketed directly to our membersThe provider is paying for exposure and is responsible for the interaction on the job site, the quality of their work, and the customer’s satisfaction with the serviceWhile I do understand where Ms*** is coming from, our procedures were followed correctly and *** *** *** ** had the opportunity to follow through on the full refund amount of $Unfortunately, they were not agreeable to this and refunded her $ Despite our procedures, we have agreed to refund Ms*** the $she’s requestedMs*** has been a loyal member and we understand her frustration regarding this situation and are willing to make an exceptionI have submitted this request to our Accounting team and this should be processed back to her payment method within 3-business days I find it regrettable that we left Ms.*** feeling she had no recourse but to contact the Revdex.comWe always want to provide top notch service to our members. Angie’s List is an online community for consumers looking to find service companies and health care professionals in markets across the country. Angie’s List does not create the information posted by members; rather, it operates its website only to distribute information to members. Further, Angie’s List does not opine upon or endorse any of the reviews or ratings submitted by members Angie’s List’s policy, therefore, is not to remove any reviews from its website, except under very limited circumstances. These circumstances include Angie’s List’s receiving verifiable information that the review was posted by a competitor of the service provider or that a duplicate review regarding the same interaction was posted. Additionally, Angie’s List will remove a review if the member posting it requests that the review be removed or if Angie’s List is served with a court order requiring the review to be removed With respect to the review Mr*** refers to in his complaint, none of these circumstances exist. First, regarding the arbitration award Mr*** provided to Angie’s List, Angie’s List was not a part of that arbitrationThe Angie’s List review is not mentioned in the decision, and there was no adjudication as to the truth or accuracy of the Angie’s List review. Second, when a member posts ratings on the Angie’s List website, the member represents to Angie’s List that such ratings are accurate, truthful, and complete. Again, Angie’s List is merely a forum provider and is not in the business of determining if a report is or inaccurate Angie’s List recognizes that service providers, such as Mr***, may have differing opinions regarding the experience had with a member. Accordingly, Angie’s List permits each service provider to tell their side of the story and encourages them to monitor posted ratings regarding their company and to post responses to any reviews to which they take exception Angie’s List legal department is mailing Mr*** a certified letter expressing this same point of view. All future correspondence regarding this matter will need to be directed to the legal team’s contact information provided in the certified letter. Per our membership agreement, members have the right to a 110% money back guarantee on their current membership term if they are not satisfied with their annual membership. Mr*** is in his final term (year) of his membership. We have refunded 110% of this term back to him (prorated refund of $11.60, plus an extra 10% via check). MrFroehlich was mailed a check in the amount of $11.60. He was also mailed a separate check in the amount of $for the additional 10% (which was a little bit more than 10%). These checks must be cut separately but both were mailed at the same time.
