complaints filed against our company.   On 1/23/2015, Mr. [redacted] agreed to advertise with Angie’s List for one year per the attached agreement. Before Angie’s List will publish an advertisement, we require each prospective advertiser to sign a contract outlining the services Angie’s List will render, the relevant categories and the ad rate a service provider must pay for these services. Each contract includes a standard cancellation fee.   Upon receipt of this complaint, we investigated the correspondence that Mr. [redacted] had with Angie’s List representatives. Although Mr. [redacted] ultimately agreed to the attached contract, and multiple attempts were made by Angie’s List employees to assist him, Mr. [redacted] requested to cancel his advertising within a few days of beginning it.  We have waived the cancellation fee and removed the notice from his company’s profile.  We strive to provide top notch customer service. I sincerely apologize if we have failed to deliver to the extent of Mr. [redacted]’s expectations. We would love to have him back as an advertiser in the future and be given the  chance to help him and make things right.  Thanks again for the opportunity to respond to this complaint. Please let me know if we can provide any further information.  Kind regards, [redacted]Angie’s List

[redacted],
Thank you for bringing this complaint to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to complaints against our company. I apologize...

for the delay in my response.
I apologize for the frustration this review seems to have caused Mr. [redacted]. As you may know, Angie’s List allows consumers to post comments regarding experiences they have had with area companies. Angie’s List is a passive conduit for these comments, meaning the content is wholly supplied by our consumer members. Because other consumers rely on the statements made by each member, we require each and every member to sign the following statement before submitting a report:
* I confirm that the information contained in this Service Evaluation Form (i) is true and accurate and (ii) represents my actual first-hand experience, or experience which I am authorized to discuss. I acknowledge and understand that Angie's List is relying upon the accuracy of the information in order to serve other members. I confirm that I do not work for, am not in competition with, or am not in any way related to the service provider in this report.
Assuming that our members are willing to attest to the truthfulness of each report, we allow positive and negative reports to be submitted to our forum. We do not remove reports at the request of service providers. Rather, we allow each service provider to respond to any reports they receive, to share their point of view.
However, in this case, the member who left the review did reach out to Angie’s List and ask for her review to be deleted. We have honored this request, and the review in question is no longer on Mr. [redacted]’s business profile.
I find it regrettable that we left Mr. [redacted] feeling no other recourse than to complain to the Revdex.com. We strive to provide top notch customer service for both consumers and service providers, regardless of whether the service providers are paid advertisers, or free users of our service like Mr. [redacted].

Thanks again for the opportunity to respond to this complaint, and please let me know if we can provide any further information.
Kind regards,
Jesse B[redacted] Angie’s List

Thank you for bringing this complaint to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to give our side of the story regarding complaints filed against our company.  I’d like to start by offering a sincere apology to [redacted] for the...

frustration this process has caused. As [redacted] mentioned, she purchased an offer from the company MKF Residential on February 27th, 2015.  The offer had a promotional value of $4,400, but this promotional value expired on August 26th, 2015.When Angie’s List first received contact from [redacted] about problems scheduling on September 18th, we asked a supervisor to reach out to her to help with the deal.  We may be able to help with scheduling problems, find another provider to do the work, or help refund the original deal to help with the purchase of a better fit.  We are committed to helping [redacted] receive the service he paid for. [redacted] has been contacted directly by a supervisor able to help with this concern, and we are awaiting his response. As an exception to our standard policies, we have extended the offer beyond the normal expiration date, and have given several more months in order for her to use her credit.  She is never under any obligation to work with any particular provider if she is uncomfortable with them.I find it regrettable that we left [redacted] feeling he had no recourse but to contact the Revdex.com. We strive to provide top-notch service to our members. We are very sorry for the frustration and trouble [redacted] has had to deal with.  Thanks again for the opportunity to respond to this complaint. Please let me know if we can provide any further information.  Kind regards, Jesse [redacted]Angie’s List

complaints filed against our company.   On 10/23/2014, Mr. That fee is 35% of the remaining balance of the agreement.   The other program that Mr. [redacted] refers to in his complaint is our Big Deal Storefront program. This program allows members to purchase products from positively-rated providers via the Angie’s List system. Instead of up-front costs to the provider, the Big Deals involve profit sharing.   Mr. [redacted] has been in communication with his account manager recently discussing his advertising.  Certainly, if he wishes to cancel his advertising, he should let his account manager know and they will process his cancellation and details associated with that. He will be responsible for the cancellation fee, if he decides to cancel early.  In short, I sincerely apologize if we failed to deliver to the extent of Mr. [redacted]’s expectations. We did, however, deliver to the extent of our contract. Angie’s List and Mr. [redacted]’s company have a binding agreement, and just as we have acted in accordance with our obligations, so must Mr. [redacted].   Thanks again for the opportunity to respond to this complaint. Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that the response would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Hello [redacted]  I have to admit that I feel at a slight disadvantage as you and Jesse are on a first name basis. However, if other Angie’s List members have had similar experiences as I, it doesn’t surprise me that you two are so well acquainted. Jesse is correct in the fact that I have brought issues to his and Angie’s List attention and so far they have yet to come through and provide anything that represents service. I did not ask Angie’s List to contract with Cascadia and since I was advised my call was being recorded, I ask that Angie’s List provide the audio where I requested this. What happened, was in an attempt to find a replacement for another horrible provider, I was advised of Cascadia. I clearly mentioned that I didn’t elect to hire this provider as previous conversation with Cascadia left me with the impression that this provider was disorganized and less than reliable, and I’m certain the recorded audio CLEARLY states this. I was told that a conversation between Angie’s List and Cascadia took place and my situation and concerns had been communicated to Cascadia, and then I was asked if I would accept Cascadia as my provider. I once again voiced my concerns and made it clear as long as Angie’s List was co-signing that I would not have the issues I was concerned about, I would accept this provider. Angie’s List vouched for Cascadia and I accepted.  The fact that every concern I brought forward played out is the reason for my complaint. Instead of stepping up and stepping in to resolve this, Angie’s List now wants to say, “I refused to reach out”. I shouldn’t have to reach out. This entire episode was coordinated and orchestrated by Angie’s List and it’s their responsibility to take action. The work was not done on the day of service and when the provider advised he would have to come back the next day to haul away the mount of yard waste that fits in a residential bin, I was shocked! The provider didn’t even haul any waste away, they used my bin and failed to do the requested work completely or to my satisfaction. Cascadia was not prepared, cost me an additional days works and didn’t show up the next day as promised. I called both Jesse and his staff that following day when Cascadia didn’t arrive, or call, and this was the only refusal, Jesse and his team refused to take my call. In my multiple messages, I advised I had video and photo proof of the sloppy work and demanded that I be refunded immediately. They knew the pot had boiled over and they had dropped the ball again. After missing weeks of work from Angie’s list providers not showing up as scheduled, rescheduling or week long jobs that end up going for nearly 2 month only to not be finished, Jesse knew he no longer had a reasonable excuse for not holding providers responsible.  How many opportunities does Angie’s List and their provider get to fail? I have lost count! The facts are simple. In an escalated customer service environment, both Angie’s List and the provider failed. Angie’s List advised me that “they would provide better service if they were a profitable company” and clearly did not deny this in their response to The Revdex.com. The provider that I did not request, left early for an invalid reason, didn’t return as scheduled and both Jesse and his staff, declined to take my calls. And the only reason Angie’s List has responded, (as my last couple complaints went unanswered from the Revdex.com) is because they know this is about to get media attention and they want to give the appearance they have been proactive when in fact they have been reactive and very poor at that.  Simple or not, the responsibility and weight falls on Angie’s List, but rather than be a reputable company, they have taken to slanderizing customers, and now liable, not realizing that without customers, there is no need for providers. Let this record stand as the ultimate example of the difference between Cowardice Service and Customer Service.

company.   On 8/13/2016, Ms. [redacted] started to advertise with Angie’s List for one year per an electronically signed agreement.  We require each prospective advertiser to sign a contract outlining the services Angie’s List will render, the relevant categories and the ad rate a service provider must pay for these services. Each contract includes a standard cancellation fee of 35% of the remaining balance of the agreement.    In light of any improper expectations or information experienced during the sales process, Angie’s List will consider Ms. [redacted]’s contract to be terminated as of 11/11/2016.  We are currently in the process of cancelling her contract and are removing Ms. [redacted]’s company from our web and call center advertisements.  We have also agreed to waive the 35% early termination fee and issue refunds for payments made in September, October, and November.  This may take a few business days to process, especially with the extended holiday weekend approaching.   We strive to provide top notch customer service, and we regret that Ms. [redacted] felt that she had no recourse but to turn to the Revdex.com.   Thanks again for the opportunity to respond to this complaint. company.  I’d like to start by offering a sincere apology to Mr. [redacted] for the poor experience dealing with our chat and email support.  Mr. [redacted] clearly described the glitch he was experiencing multiple times, and it does not appear that our agents ever fully resolved the issue. As Mr. [redacted] repeatedly asked for help but never had his issue resolved, I have refunded the full cost of his membership from 2014, $26.00 back to his PayPal account. The refund was immediate on our end, but it may take a few business days to post to Mr. [redacted]’s account. I have also followed up with the direct managers of the representatives Mr. [redacted] interacted with to help improve our customer service.  In light of Mr. [redacted]’s years of membership with us and the poor customer service he experienced recently, I have also extended his membership for a free year at our Premium level, to hopefully slowly earn back some lost trust.  I have also provided Mr. [redacted] my direct phone number and email address, in case I can be of further assistance.I find it regrettable that we left Mr. [redacted] feeling she had no recourse but to contact the Revdex.com. We strive to provide top-notch service to our members. It is clear in this case that we missed the mark, and I apologize for that.     Thanks again for the opportunity to respond to this complaint. Re:
Complaint Case # [redacted]
Thank
you for bringing this complaint to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity
to clarify anything that might not have been addressed previously.
Angie’s
List allows consumers to post comments regarding experiences they have had with
area companies.  We require each and
every member to sign the attestation statement before submitting a report.
Service providers are allowed to respond to any review they receive, and must
agree to a similar statement.  However, Angie’s
List is neither judge nor jury and is not in a position to determine the
truthfulness of either party’s statement. We are a neutral forum, allowing both
sides to relay their perspective. Other members are able to see both sides to
make their own judgment about the service experience.
I am sorry that the comments posted by [redacted] have caused so much frustration to Ms. [redacted]. I see that Ms.
[redacted] has updated her review to address the comments made in the service
provider’s response. It is important to keep in mind that other members reading
Ms. [redacted]’s review do not know Ms. [redacted]’s identity.  Although the comments may feel like a
personal attack, others do not know the person they are directed towards.  They are only able to see that she had a poor
service experience with [redacted], and the manner in which the company
handles negative feedback. Comments posted by service providers show the true
level of customer service that the company provides, so Angie’s List does not
alter or remove those comments at the request of members.
I find it regrettable that Ms. [redacted] was
left feeling she had no other recourse than contacting the Revdex.com. However, I
believe that Angie’s List has followed appropriate procedures meant to ensure
we stay as neutral as possible. We will not be moving or altering the company’s
response at Ms. [redacted]’s request.
Thanks
again for the opportunity to respond to this complaint, and please let me know
if we can provide any further information.
Kind
regards,

Mr. Leite and his concerns very seriously, and even prior to the submission of this complaint, management has been working directly with him to resolve any and all concerns.  We value Mr. [redacted] business and we are doing what we can to find mutually acceptable solutions.  At this point, it seems that we have found a suitable agreement with Mr. Leite that will allow him to continue working with us at Angie’s List.  This frustration seems to have been caused by a miscommunication – for a short time, Mr. [redacted] business was excluded due to Mr. [redacted] accidental attestation that he did not possess the appropriate licensure.  This has been corrected. In short, I sincerely apologize that this customer has been disappointed with their experience with Angie’s List. We hope that we can avoid any frustration as we continue to work together. Thanks again for the opportunity to respond to this complaint. Please let me know if we can provide any further information.  Kind regards, Jesse Brown Angie’s List

of the story regarding complaints filed against our company.   I’d like to start by offering a sincere apology to Ms. [redacted] for any frustration with our customer service.   I have refunded the full $13.42 that Ms. [redacted] has paid for her membership, as she has contacted us within 30 days of her membership purchase. With any cancellation request, we first want to try and improve on the reason the member is wishing to cancel. We listen closely to the reasons our members are cancelling, in hopes to provide the best level of service going forward. I apologize that Ms. [redacted] did not receive her refund on 6/27 when she messaged with our of our chat representatives.   I find it regrettable that we left Ms. [redacted] feeling she had no recourse but to contact the Revdex.com. Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that the response would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I would like to thank the Indiana Revdex.com for giving
[redacted] the opportunity to attempt to resolve a conflict with Angie’s
List.
Jesse B[redacted]: Please clarify
Expiration Date 02/26/2016 on the contract is only Valid if the contract is Un-Signed?
But if the contract is signed the Expiration Date
02/26/2016 is Void?
Again- [redacted] is still not understanding the
legitimacy of the Expiration Date and per your explanation of the expiration
date……… Angie’s List cannot have the expiration date be effective if the
contract is un-signed but ineffective if the contract is signed. That truly
does not make sense.
Where on the “Advertising agreement” or on any other
documents provided to [redacted] does it provide the terms of the expiration
date?
[redacted] would like Angie’s List to provide the
recorded sales call with Megan R[redacted] to our company or to the Revdex.com.
Megan R[redacted] provided [redacted] a Misrepresentation
of the “advertising agreement” which prompted [redacted] to agree to
purchase and enter into a business understanding with Angie’s List.
Megan R[redacted] did not provide all relevant information
pertaining to the context of the “advertising agreement”.
The Advertising Agreement was sent to [redacted] on
02/11/2016 @ 9:13am and Angie’s List received the signed Advertising Agreement
back on 02/11/2016 @9:16am.
Due to this misleading action and the false information about
the product during the verbal presentation; [redacted] was lured and
enticed with deceptive information and therefore entered into an advertising
agreement.
But of course- All of the factual statements that
[redacted] are making are due to our beliefs and understanding of the sales
call. The advertising agreement and obligations for both Angie’s List and
[redacted] can be cleared up and addressed appropriately if Angie’s List
will provide [redacted] and the Revdex.com the recorded sales call with Megan
R[redacted] on 02/11/2016.
[redacted] has already been provided a resolution that
was rightfully owed to our company.
$1,350 was disputed to our bank and refunded back to our
account.
Angie’s List is accepting cancellation of (04/05/16)
of the advertising agreement. Why have they not provided [redacted] a
refund.
02/11/2016- Advertising Agreement started with [redacted] and Angie’s list
2/12/16- $450 drafted from our account (Advertising Run
Date of 03/01/16 – 03/31/16)
02/26/2016- Advertising
Agreement Expired
03/12/16 - $450 drafted from our account (Advertising Run
Date of 04/01/16 – 04/30/16)
04-05-16-
[redacted] sent Angie’s List correspondence for cancellation of the
advertising agreement.
04/12/16 - $450 drafted from our account (Advertising Run
Date of 05/01/16 – 052/31/16)
05/12/16 - $450 drafted from our account (Advertising Run
Date of 06/01/16 – 03/30/16)
06/12/16 - $450 drafted from our account (Advertising Run
Date of 07/01/16 – 07/31/16)
At minimum $1,350 should have received a refund from
Angie’s List.
To clarify the 35% early termination fee being waived for
[redacted] was due to the outcome of the internal investigation opened by
Angie’s List per the Sales Call with our company and Megan R[redacted]. We were
never informed of an “early termination fee” and we were misled and misinformed
about the advertising agreement.
The advertising agreement [redacted] made with
Angie’s List was never valid per
the Expiration Date of 02/26/16.
Angie’s List would like [redacted] to abide by the binding agreement, and act in accordance with both
parties’ obligations……… then Angie’s List must abide by the binding expiration
date of 02/26/16.
[redacted] is not a company
of excuses and we truthfully and rightfully stand by our word, our commitments
and obligations and our integrity.
[redacted] is holding Angie’s
List accountable for what they did & said and did not do or say for our
company.
As business owners ([redacted] [redacted]) we live and breathe our business. It is our whole life. We
started our business at age 24([redacted]) & 26([redacted]. We saved our money and
quit our professional jobs and devoted everything we had to [redacted]. We
are a cash business, we have no debt and we work hard and fight for every
dollar we make.
Since opening in Feb 2013 we have been blessed and
honored to have served almost 7,000 customers in the Austin area. From 2013 to
January 2016 – [redacted] and I single handedly served 5800 customers- just the two
of us. The quoted amount of customers I am reporting is a conservative estimate.
When we were told on 2/11/16 from Megan R[redacted] that the advertising
agreement was month to month and we could cancel anytime (no penalty).
On 04/05/2016 we attempted to do so with Angie’s List and
that was when we were informed by Justina P[redacted]/ Angie List Agent “Your ads have been running slightly over
1 month and I am sorry to hear your request to cancel. A this point in time
your Early Termination Fee is $1,331.25 which is 35% of the unused portion of
your advertising remaining on your contract”
We were in shock.
Per Jesse B[redacted] response to the Revdex.com complaint: We truly do hope that Angie’s List provides top
notch customers service but [redacted] was not on the receiving end of that
customer service.
[redacted] did not have any other recourse but to
file the Revdex.com complaint as 16 emails and several phone calls and voicemail's went
un-responded to.
Everything that we have stated in our complaint and all
concerns that we have addressed with Angie’s list directly, [redacted] believes
to be 100% accurate.
[redacted] is closing our complaint with the Revdex.com and
we are ending our dispute with Angie’s List due to the $1,350 refund our bank
has provided. If our refund is disputed by Angie’s List and Angie’s List pursues
this matter further, then we will re-engage with our complaint and conflict
with Angie’s List.
For now, we are done.
Regards,
[redacted]

I also apologize for the poor customer service that Mr. [redacted] received when canceling his membership. Angie’s List memberships are backed by a satisfaction, money-back guarantee. July 21, 2017 Indianapolis Revdex.com 22 E. Washington Street Indianapolis, IN  46202 Attn. [redacted] Re: Complaint Case # [redacted], Thank you for bringing this complaint response rejection to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to respond.  Mr. [redacted] has been working with Colleen C[redacted], a supervisor with the Member Care Department.  Colleen has granted an exception to Mr. [redacted] regarding his expiration date.  She has provided him with a 30 day extension to purchase a replacement offer to receive a refund on his original purchase.  Mr. [redacted] can continue to work with Colleen directly to resolve his complaint. Colleen C[redacted] has confirmed that she has not received any correspondence from Mr. [redacted] to assist him with the exchange of his original purchase.  Each eCommerce offer is set up on a contract with each service provider.  Angie’s List does not have a way for Mr. [redacted] to use his original funds to purchase a new offer.  Angie’s List offers members the opportunity to exchange offers that are outside of 30 days from purchase and prior to their expiration date.  The exchange can be accomplished by purchasing a replacement offer, which makes the original purchase eligible to be refunded.  This has been explained to Mr. [redacted] by Colleen C[redacted] and is the only option Mr. [redacted] has to receive a refund on his original purchase.  This is the exact offer that Mr. [redacted] was given when he originally requested a refund outside of 30 days from his purchase in 2015.  Angie’s List has granted an exception to our policy and provided Mr. [redacted] with a 30 day extension well outside of the expiration of the offer he purchased. opportunity to give our side of the story regarding complaints filed against our company.  I apologize for my delay in responding to the Revdex.com about this complaint.   I’d like to start by offering a sincere apology to Mr. [redacted] for the frustration he mentions in his complaint.   On June 22nd, Mr. [redacted] purchased a $49 Ecommerce voucher for services with [redacted]. As a review based website, Angie’s List gives the opportunity to provider’s who have earned a high grade to advertise and offer discounted services to our members. The vetting process is based on recommendations by other members in the member’s area and providers must maintain an A or B overall grade to continue to offer these services. Angie’s List does not maintain authority or control over these providers and is not an appropriate party to determine what a business should charge for services. With that in mind, Angie’s list is not able to refund a member what they have paid directly to any service provider. We have refunded Mr. [redacted]’s $49 Ecommerce purchase and have offered to refund his full membership fee as well. His review on the provider also remains to warn other members about his experience.   That said, Jesse B[redacted] is working with Mr. [redacted] directly to assist as much as possible through our processes.   I find it regrettable that we left Mr. [redacted] feeling he had no recourse but to contact the Revdex.com. We strive to provide top-notch service to our members. We are very sorry for the frustration and trouble Mr. [redacted] has had to deal with.   Thanks again for the opportunity to respond to this complaint. Please let me know if we can provide any further information.    Kind regards,       Jesse B[redacted] Angie’s List

[redacted],   Thank you for the opportunity to give our side of the story regarding complaints filed against our company.   I’d...

like to start by offering a sincere apology to Ms. [redacted] for any confusion regarding her cancellation request.   Ms. [redacted] contacted Angie’s List on 8/17/2016 to request the cancellation and refund of her recent automatic renewal, which all memberships default to through our website.  Ms. [redacted]’s membership fees were refunded as she requested on 8/17/2016.  All Angie’s List members receive email notifications of their upcoming automatic renewal prior to their membership being renewed.   I find it regrettable that we left Ms. [redacted] feeling she had no recourse but to contact the Revdex.com. We strive to provide top-notch service to our members. We do now offer a free membership option if she only occasionally needs to look up information on providers.      Thanks again for the opportunity to respond to this complaint. Please let me know if we can provide any further information.        Jesse B[redacted] Angie’s List

We have connected Mr. [redacted] with his account manager, [redacted].  At this point, we believe this complaint to be resolved.  If this is not the case, please let me know how we can further help.
