Appliance Repairman Reviews (%countItem)

I called Appliance Repairman (AP) to come to service my tenant's washing machine. They told me the service call would be $80. I agreed to that. The technician who arrived (3 hours late) wrote up a quote immediately and insisted that I sign it to proceed with the service call. The quote stated that he would be servicing the Rotation System, provide a Motor service and examine the Bearings and Shocks. For him to proceed with the service he insisted that I sign the quote for a total of $280 (service fee was waved). As it was my tenant's unit and I was interested in what was wrong with the machine I stayed with the technician throughout the service call. The technician discovered that he did not have the proper tools to open this basic Whirlpool top loading machine. Because of of this he was not able to access any internal part of the washing machine i.e. Rotation System, Motor or Bearings and Shocks. At this point he phoned his supervisor who coached him to diagnose the problem as a Transmission Motor failure. I was informed I had to replace the transmission and was quoted $444.88 + Tax for the part only. I decided it was not possible for his supervisor to diagnose this as the problem over the phone while the technician was not even able to open the machine. I asked the technician to leave, thanked him for his time and was prepared to pay him them $80 for the service call. (he was there less than 45 minutes). Because he did not perform any of the other services on his labour quote, I was not going to pay the $200.The technician did not have proper tools or knowledge (or perhaps desire) to open the machine, I was not permitted to talk with the supervisor but was told to call the customer service number (the office was closed by that time).
I called the very next morning to discuss with customer service. The first thing I was told was that if I did not pay $316.40 they would send to a collection agency. I explained the situation and that I was willing to pay the $80 for the service call but the technician did not perform any of the services quoted so I would not pay anymore. I asked to speak with a manager or supervisor but was refused. I asked them to send me an outline and description of how each of these quoted services were to be performed. If it seemed reasonable to perform these services without opening the machine I would pay the bill. After a few calls back and forth all communication stopped, I assumed I was waiting for the service description outline but heard nothing back until yesterday when I received a notice that if I do not pay the amount in full by October 17th it would be sent to a collection agency.
I am very angry and frustrated with the situation and would like to contact them again but feel I need an advocate at this point so chose to enlist your help with this matter.
Since engaging with AP I have read several dreadful reviews online about AP and wish I had seen this before calling them in the first place.
Please help!
Thank you and let me know if you have any questions.

Desired Outcome

I am willing to pay the $80 service call fee as originally quoted by the company. The technician was there for under 45 minutes, He was not able to open the machine because did not have the proper tools and because of this was not able to perform the labour quoted: Rotation System $112 Motor Service $98 Bearning/ Shock $70

the quote we got from this company was $80.00 for a home repair estimate. When the service person arrived he appeared reluctant to have me any where near the wine cooler we'd hired him to check -- fiddled for a few minutes with a light then came back and told me it would cost another $280 for him to take off the back of the wine cooler to check what the problem was? Dreadful - we're seniors and feel this company's practice is *** - we were also told on phone they'd honour their coupon for $14 for seniors but they then said it didn't apply?

Desired Outcome

Refund

Appliance repairman technician (***) was sent to fix my washing machine on Sept 9th, 2017. During the service call I was informed by the technician that the cost service including tax will be $350 with 30 days service warranty and he made me signed the invoice before commencing service. At the end of the service which took less than 10mins the tech informed me the drain was clogged showed me what he removed and advise and I should make sure not to load heavy duty laundry (such as heavy towel, duvet etc.) as the drain pump is getting weak. He concluded by saying that the washing machine should still be good for few years if I adhere to his advice. After the work was completed he gave the POS machine with the amount of $395.50, I complained saying that wasn't what we agreed to before I signed the invoice and that he told me the cost was $350 including the tax. He then said that fine changed the payment on the POS and made some changes on the invoice which I assumed was price change and we called it a day. Afterward I checked the invoice and realized he wrote balance owing on the invoice for $45.50 and indicated warranty as zero.

I called the office the next day (Sept 10th) to file a complaint assuming they were closed for business on the day of service by the time I realized what the technician did. I filed my complaints regarding the service, invoice manipulation and the behavior of the technical (which was a bit strange and unstable) and the lady who answered my call took down my complaint and said she was going to get someone to call me back from Customer Service dept. I waited for the call for over 2 weeks no one called back and unfortunately the machine packed up again on Sept 25th. I called appliance repairman customer service dept on Sept 26th @8:45am and I was told by the customer service agent Stephanie there's no warranty on their service and in order for them to waive the balancing owing I would have to purchase the part from them and have a technician come in and fix the machine. No apology for the way I was treated by their Technician or for the lack of transparency in service or for the invoice manipulation. I requested to speak with someone who can make a decision and she said she will get her manager to call me back. Her manager *** called back and left me a voice message on Sept 26 @11:15am reiterating the same thing Stephanie had told me *** and I would like my voice to be heard and treated fairly. It is so disappointing to me that Appliance repairman has refused to take responsibility for lack of customer service and credibility of their technician.

I am not out to tarnish anyone's or company's image but at the same time I need the company to have a structure of handling such situation when it arises and not just what the technician wrote down to their own advantage. Also there's should be follow up calls after a customer complain and mutually agreed upon resolution.

Desired Outcome

If the amount owing was not disclosed as owing as the time of service and mutually agreed to, then it shouldn't be a balance owing. Moreover the service warranty should be reinstate and company need to apologize for the behavior and lack of transparency on the part of their technician.

I own a Whirlpool front loading wash machine. On Tuesday 5 September I contacted The Appliance Repairman at ***. They advertise same day service. I explained my machine was leaking from the bottom and requested someone come out and take a look to see how much it would cost to FIX the machine. Unlike their "same day service" advertisement, I was told no one was available to come out until Friday 8 September. I was also told it would cost $80, whether I agreed to have it fixed or not. If I agreed then they would apply the $80 fee towards the job. I agreed to this. On Friday, ***, arrived on time to my home. He went to look at the machine and advised that there was a problem with the board and the water pan was not draining properly. He then told me he could FIX the problem for around $300. I agreed to this, again even getting him to assure me, "For $300 the machine will be FIXED, right?" He said yes. A half hour later he said he was done and he tested the machine and said the leak was FIXED. He then said, I MAY need a new door seal in the future and that would cost around $460 - but that was not the problem today. I signed the Invoice #***, for a total of $316.40. I used the machine a couple of times and I noticed it was leaking again. I called them back to advise them that the machine was not working properly. I was told by several customer service agents and finally the supervisor, that I only paid to have the machine serviced???? On my quote they stated that total cost of his labour for that half hour of work is $280 - and that is what I paid for - to have him service and look at the machine. *** They charge $280 an hour for labour? And, I called to have my machine FIXED, not serviced. Now they are telling me they want another $500 to have him come back and FIX the machine??? I called to have the machine fixed. I wanted same day service. Both of these were not done. False advertising and *** behaviour taking advantage of people. I was NEVER informed that day that the cost was for a service. I was INFORMED that the machine would be fixed, and he didn't even require any part. So the cost was to repair an existing part in the machine, that took a total of 30 minutes. I tried to resolve my complaint by requesting I get reimbursed my money - all but the $80, which I agree the technician should get - as all he really did was look at the machine - NOT REPAIR IT, like he led me to believe. The company refused. They provided no resolution to the matter other than offering to send the technician back to my house to look at the machine again - BUT AT MY EXPENSE AGAIN. Misleading advertising and *** repair services were committed. If the technician had provided me an estimate that day saying it would be over $800 to FIX the machine, obviously I would never have paid that. He would of charged me the $80 for his time and left.
On their web page they have reviews, I sent them a review but I doubt it will be posted as it is negative... All I see are positive reviews of their company.

Desired Outcome

My machine was never FIXED. That is what I requested - to have it FIXED. I was misled by this and their same day service, which they couldn't provide. I am requesting I be refunded $316.40 as they did not complete their work. I will agree to pay $80 for the technicians half hour of time to come to my home.

Had the repairman service my *** washing machine on Wednesday July 26/17. Since the drum on my front loader was loose and making noise while spinning I was told it would need a rotation system 120.00, motor 100.00 and drum alignment 100.00 total $ 320.00 plus tax. I also was told if I needed any parts that would be a separate transaction. This was diagnosed before he even opened the machine. I agree and was told to pay the 361.60 before the service was to be done. Once the machine was taken apart it was discover it needed a inner tub which was sold only by *** for $ 1034.71. I was in shock I told the repairman to put the machine back together which he did. I asked how long it would work with the drum being loose. He said it could be a month or six months. He left my house without saying good bye just walked out leaving the invoice on the dryer and my front door unlocked.
I did a load of laundry that night and now the drum doesn't spin and all my clothes were soaking wet. I feel like this company took advantage of me. I never paid for a service before in advance.

Desired Outcome

I would like my money back.

I contacted the company about a dryer that would not dry and that the dry sensor would let the dryer run indefinitely. They came for the service call. Claimed the electric panel needed to be replaced (Done) and that the lint must be removed from the duct. When I removed the dryer hose, I could see down the full length all the way outside. The dryer hse was kinked which was easily fixed. The dryer still runs indefinitely on the sensor setting and will not dry for at least 120 minutes. When I called back the CSR insisted that I needed to have the HVAC ducts in the house cleaned that are NEVER attached to a dryer. She refused to send out a tech or refund service. I was not allowed to speak to anyone with more knowledge. At this point, we were billed over $300 for a repair that did nothing. All I want is a full refund. I can replace the dryer for similar amount or hire a reputable repair company

Desired Outcome

As the customer services was so rude, I simply want a refund
