The technician arrived on Dec. 19/18 to assess a *** oven. He determined through a very quick inspection that the oven needed a new thermostat and a fan motor assembly. He indicated that he would order the part and have it by the next day or Friday (21st) at the latest. I was told by the company that there would be $80 charge for the visit which would be applied to the labour portion of the bill. In that he charged me $280 for labour which means that the real labour charge was $360. Given the amount of time he was here I felt that we were seriously overcharged. This was during the week before Christmas and we were having a large number of dinner engagements and we felt we had no choice but to go ahead with the repair. The repair was supposed to have been completed by the 21st or 22nd at the latest according to the technician. TH repair was not completed until January 1st, 2019. We were left high and dry over this time period. The company says that they did not receive the part until Dec. 31st, while the technician made it clear that he had the part on December 28th. We realize that there was little we could do re: all the dinner parties without an oven, but had we even thought that there was a chance of taking this long we would not have agreed to ordering the parts which seemed to be very expensive. It was after signing the contract that I decided to see what the price for the parts online were. I was horrified to see the discrepancies. The Whirlpool site listed the thermostat at $75.39 and they charged $125.00. More shocking was the fan motor which listed at $204.82, and they charged $493. 74. I felt this was an extreme cost to pass on to my family. Between the labour cost and severe overcharging I felt I had no choice to report this company. In further research I discovered that *** had over 500 complaints about this outfit. The Revdex.com gave this company an "F". I realize that I signed the contract, but given the position we were in, we were left little option but to get the stove fixed ASAP. I'm sure chances of me getting a refund for the difference in parts pricing are slim and none. However, I feel it my responsibility to report what I see as extreme price gauging by this company. I did read many of the *** complaints and they were virtually the same as my story. The public should be made aware. There must be some way to insure that the public are not taken advantage of by such astoundingly horrific price gauging.

Desired Outcome

I asked the company for an apology and a refund that fairly reflects the labour charges as well as the inflated costs for the parts.

On Dec 31st a repairman came from this comapny and performed repairs to our LG dishwasher. Within 48 hours after every load a NE error appeared after every load. The dishes were clean so we disregarded, but around the 14th the dishes stopped coming out clean. We called on Jan 14 to have the tech back and advised of the error. After agreeing to send him at no charge to investigate and provide a further quote if not related to original work, I received a VM the day of the appt advising it was cancelled. After calling back for more details, I was told I would have to pay for the service call & labour (@$300) for them to re-book. I advised that it made no sense for me to do that as we have not confirmed if the repair would fall under the 30 day warranty. Ultimately I agreed to pay the 80$ service call fee to have him check as we really needed a dishwasher (we have 1 year old twin boys). They said it would need to be approved, and I would have to pay the full total upfront. I refused as I wanted to pay in person, since they had been so unreliable with the appt, and found a repair person in town who would knew the exact error code, what it meant and could replace the part for $150. I called them back and told them on the phone, and they said that after talking to Shy, their tech - the diverted motor could be related to the initial repair, but I would still have to pay upfront for them to send someone. I did not agree as this was beginning to sound very ***.

Desired Outcome

I wish to have the full repair cost refunded

My 12 year old front loading washing machine presented with a loud clunking sound at the final spin cycle. Nicholas diagnosed the problem as a broken drum. His list of repairs totalling $361.60 showed a rotation system service, motor service (the motor worked fine..??) and a drive/bearing service, on the invoice. None of which he actually performed. When he was done playing around with my machine, pulling it out and pretending like he was fixing it (as I now know), he told me he tested the washer and it was working fine. As soon as he left I tested it myself and the problem was even worse. The sound was louder and I could now hear something metallic and loose rolling around with the spinning as well.
At the same time as his diagnosis he said that if the issue returns I must replace the rear drum and bearing: $528.64 + HST. He wrote this on the invoice and asked me to sign. This is where I became suspicious and had a strong feeling I was being hoodwinked. He was setting me up in the hopes of getting the second more expensive repair from me. ***
I called the company immediately after I ran my test cycle, asking that they send back a more experienced technician to actually fix the problem and was told that I was speaking to dispatch and there was nothing they could do. Someone would call me Monday or Tuesday next week. No one ever called.
On the following Monday I had a reputable technician come in to have a look at the washer. I wish I had called him first but I couldn't remember his name *** He had repaired my previous washing machine. He is an honest and experienced sole proprietor.
He said the drum was broken - and showed me the exact spot. He said that you can't fix this. He advised against a new drum because of the high cost and who knows what else may be broken once you remove it - the machine being older. Best to buy a new one.***
***
Something else questionable on the invoice is this clause:
"I acknowledge that the appliance and its surroundings have been left in good condition and have not been damaged by an appliance repair technician."
Why would you have to include this unless you have had technicians being accused of such?
Recap: I paid $361.60 and took a half vacation day off work to have my machine looked at and NOT repaired plus $40 for a decent service person to advise me I need a new machine. I acknowledged I would have to pay Appliance Repairman an additional $528.64 if the problem persists.

Called appliancerepairman.ca on 7/01/19 with cooling problem with a *** late model side by side fridge. Technician came in and asked for 318.40 to fix the fridge. Which I agreed. Fridge was running when completed and asked me to let the fridge normalize before lowering the temperature. He said that if the problem returns that it would need a new board. I verified that it was running, signed the invoice and I paid. After an hour I turned down the temperature and left for the day. After 2 days day when we came in it wasnt working. I called them and reiterated that I signed off on the fix and that I was warned that it was a main board issue and it would need to be replaced. They warned me after they fixed it. They were not willing to refund me or even give me a bit of a deal with the install of a new board. The fact remains I paid 312.40 and it did not work at the 48 hour after they fixed it.

Desired Outcome

To contact the company and notify them to see if there is some sort of resolution that can be done. i find this type of service is totally unacceptable and the Revdex.com should protect consumers against companies that take advantage of the clients.

Our dryer wouldn't start, there were no lights to show anything on console so I called Appliance Repair Guys and told them issue.I had never had a repair person out for any of our appliances after the warranty expired so I asked them how does it work? I was told that the cost would be 80.00 plus HST for a technician to come out and when the tech came he would review the dryer, and let us know the cost for labour and parts. (So, like the 517 other complaints that I read AFTER my dealings with them, I assumed that the 80.00+ HST covered the cost to diagnosis the issue.)
Once the technician arrived at our house he looked at the dryer and said that he wouldn't be able to give us any idea of what was wrong with the appliance unless he took the back off and checked all the fuses etc. and this would cost us 280.00 plus tax. Well, what does one do ? they look at tech, they are confused that we were told 80.00+ would cover the cost to diagnosis the appliance and give us a valid quote. So, we said to go ahead and let us know what was wrong with dryer. Less than an hr. later he said the digital console was the problem and we paid 299.45 for him to come up with that conclusion. He said that he would need to call the parts department and he got back to us at 6:30pm that night with a cost of 599.00 for the part. OUCH! At this point, my biggest complaint is that THE APPLIANCE REPAIR GUYS weren't honest on the phone. They should have told me that the cost was 80.00+ to knock on my door, and that the cost to diagnose the issue was 280.00+ HST + PARTS. If I was told that from the start I would never had accepted them as a possible tech to come to my home.

Desired Outcome

Billing Adjustment Even though we did agree to pay the 280.00 I felt ***. At that point, I found out we were already out 80.00 and non the wiser of what was the issue. I would like to see 200.00 returned for their lack of proper instructions of costs etc.

My washer was not working well, it would not agitate the clothes and when it spun them out it sounded like it was going to take off. The service call was going to be $80. When her arrived late, he quoted me $280 to take the machine apart and check to see if it could be fixed but told me that if it couldn't the parts would be expensive. I told him I didn't want to spend a lot if I was going o need a new machine. Anyway, I was charge $316.00 and he told me to fix the machine it would cost $710.00
I just bought a new machine ands spent the extra money getting the 5 year warranty. This company is very dishonest and should not be allowed to charge for this poor service.

Company charged me $316 to basically defrost my freezer on 12 August 2018.

"Appliance Repair Man" wrote on the invoice "need a new (defrost) board to fix the issue completely" and I had them order the defrost board on 30 August. I'm still waiting for installation. My freezer / fridge is still not working properly.

They have my defrost board, which (as per the appliance repairman) costs $546.70. So far, I have paid $316 (for defrosting the freezer) plus $308, half the cost of the board.

Have contacted the company, got an e-mail back asking if I'm available Tuesday, Sept 11. Replied I'm available. Got an e-mail today asking if I'm available Wed Sept 12, 4 - 7 pm. Replied I'm available.

I expect this to drag on and on until I cancel Wednesday's (Thursday? Friday? October?) appointment. Meanwhile, Appliance Repair Man has my defrost board. I'm looking for a reputable repair service, one that will order the defrost board and install it. I expect to have to pay for a second defrost board and installation.

Dan from appliance repair showed up to my home 30 minutes late from the 3-hour window the company promised to adhere to.

The fee of $80 for his time to arrive at my home was spent turning on the washing machine (cycle time is 55 minutes). In 10 minutes he took off the bottom of the washer cover and the top and said he found the problem - it is the hose disconnected from the drum to the washer drawer. In order for him to fix the problem it will cost me $280 and if any parts are needed it will be more.

I asked him if the problem is not fixed then will I get my money back? He said that I am covered for his work for up to 30 days. I did my research on my machine and a common problem is a seal between the door and the drum. I asked him for a price and he quoted me at $426.

During his visit, there was no water leaking from the machine at all. How he deduced it was probably the hose, I don't know. He didn't deduce it was the seal, I made that suggestion.

My wife called in twice while I was traveling to request them to come back and warranty his work. They said I would have to pay for the part (the seal) - it wasn't his conclusion of the seal, it was my suggestion.

I called this company three times and the customer service rep said someone will call me back same day. 5 days later Tiffany calls me ans says that the warranty doesn't cover his work because Dan wrote on the paper that the problem was the Part.

I am out $318 and my washing machine is still not fixed.
