**Beware [redacted] Just like the other negative reviews, the comments are COMPLETELY TRUE about Ashford!!! It 1st starts off great with the admissions counselors being very attentive and then they transfer you to your academic advisorI actually, had a fantastic advisor at Ashford for the first monthsHe then left the University all together and got a new job somewhere elseThat should have been the EYEOPENER for me to head out as well, but I continued onSince his departure Ashford has changed my advisors times and every one of them was below averageThe advisors don't care about you or your grades all they care about is getting the money from you!!!!!! Basically in a nut shell the whole university ONLY cares about taking money from you and you are just another number to themBy the way if you want to speak to someone because there is a problem, there is NO ONE to talk to besides your advisor! PLEASE PAY CLOSE ATTENTION HERE, FOR EXAMPLE IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH YOUR INSTRUCTOR OR A GRADE THEN YOU MUST SUBMIT EMAILS TO A DEPARTMENT(SUPPOSEDLY)THE DEPARTMENT NEVER CONTACTS YOU VIA PHONE, YOU ONLY RECEIVE EMAILS ADVISING YOU OF THEIR DECISION!!!!! THERE IS NO DEAN OR ANYTHING OF THAT NATURE TO SPEAK TO REGARDING YOUR ISSUES, YOU ONLY HAVE THE ADVISORS AND THEY HAVE NO AUTHORITY TO DO ANYTHING NOR DO THEY EVEN KNOW THE PROCEDURES TO TAKE And yes, all the negative reviews about the financial aid office is correct also!! I graduated with my Bachelors degree in Psychology and this was in the end the worst experience with a school I've ever been through!!!! Still haven't received my degree in the mail either!! The ONLY reason I stayed the entire years is because I paid so much money and had so many credits, I couldn't afford to loose them again and start over I WOULD NOT, I REPEAT WOULD NOT recommend this University to any of my military members or family/friends DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY, TIME and ENERGY just GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

July 16, 2014 [redacted] Dear [redacted] On July 15, 2014, Ashford University (University) received a copy of the request for additional information regarding the complaint that you filed at the RevDex.com (BBB). On June 23, 2014, the University received a copy of the original complaint that you filed at the BBB. On July 10, 2014, the University issued a response to your BBB complaint (Attachment A, July 10, 2014, University Response Letter). The concerns regarding your student account balance due and the referral of the account balance due to an external agency that you raised to the BBB on June 23, 2014 and July 15, 2014, mirrored the concerns listed in your formal grievance received January 31, 2014. The University conducted an investigation into these same concerns, and on April 7, 2014, the University issued its response to you (Attachment B, April 7, 2014, University Response Letter). On April 29, 2014, the University received your Presidential Appeal. On May 21, 2014, the University issued the response to the Presidential Appeal to you by U.S. mail (Attachment C, May 21, 2014 Presidential Appeal Determination Letter). On May 27, 2014, the University issued the response to the Presidential Appeal to you by e-mail message; password protected. On June 10, 2014, Senior Corporate Attorney Lori Trofemuk provided you with a summary of your concerns and the outcome to each of your concerns addressed through the Student Dispute Resolution Center processes (Attachment D, June 10, 2014, Summary of Concerns Email). Please note that on April 29, 2014, your student account balance due was recalled from the external collection agency, [redacted] ***, and placed back with the University’s internal Collections Department. The University received confirmation from the external collection agency that the account was closed on April 29, 2014; however, it may take thirty (30) to ninety (90) days to be removed from a student’s credit report. If the placement has not been removed from your credit report after 90 (days), please contact the University’s collection department. In addition, the University maintains that you were notified of your student account balance due prior to your account being referred to an external collection agency (Attachment B, April 7, 2014, University Response Letter). The University also maintains your account balance due is accurate (Attachment B, April 7, 2014, University Response Letter). Per University policy, in order to re-enroll in the University, you must enter into a payment plan to address your current account balance due which as of the date this response letter is $5,705.00 (Attachment E, Ledger Card). Please work with your collection specialist, John Dietrich, regarding the details of your payment plan. Furthermore, as stated in the University’s April 7, 2014, response, on June 19, 2012, you were packaged for federal financial aid for your second academic year. Your last day of attendance was on April 8, 2013. According to the 2012-2013 Federal Student Aid Handbook, students who are out of attendance over 180 days without completing the payment period will start a new payment period when he or she re-enters the University (Attachment F, Federal Student Aid Handbook, p. 5-32). Therefore, the University maintains that any future financial aid you are eligible for cannot be applied to your current student account balance due as you have been out of attendance for over 180 days. Upon re-enrollment at the University, you will enter into a new academic year and will be eligible to be packaged for a new federal financial aid award year. It is always the intention of Ashford University and its employees to provide excellent student services and an excellent learning experience. All holds on the student’s account were removed several weeks ago and the student’s account balance is zeroThere is nothing on the student’s account that would stop him from submitting an Official Transcript Request and for the University to process through its procedures

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID *** and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear belowMy complaint against the University also remains the same. *** *** completely disregarded a verbal conversation where I stated to him the exact date Ashford University would receive a payment. When I notified *** *** of that date, Ashford University should have sent a contract outlining the agreement. Instead, this University turned against me. This proves over and over that Ashford University does not care about their students. You claim to care and want to assist, but yet, when a verbal agreement is made, Ashford does not respect that agreement. Rather than wanting to resolve an issue and meet me half way, at the very least, Ashford University continues to disregard any and all contact that I made and hold me back from finishing my degree. I get so many emails from you people wanting to help manage student loans. Don't worry about my student loans. Why care about that? You should care to want to help but every conversation I have ever had with Ashford is refused. If and when I am able to resolve my balance, without your acknowledgement and willingness to work with me, I completely expect my transcript to be immediately sent to me!

Encls/3/ Attachment A, March 28, 2016, Response
Attachment B, FSA Handbook Prior-Year Charges
Attachment C, Ledger Card

Dear Revdex.com,
On August 4, 2015, Ashford University (University) received the complaint that ***
*** *** (student) had filed with your officeIn his complaint, the student alleges that after he completed his FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), the University told him that they had everything necessary and that he could expect a “refund” of $However, he was later informed by the University that the tax documentation he provided did not suffice, and that he needed to provide more tax information even though the tax information he provided came directly from the IRSThe student also alleges that no other school will accept the credit he earned at the University after he drops out
For the reasons above, the student would like a full refund from the University
The University investigated the student's allegationsThe results of the investigation are outlined below
FAFSA and Tax Documentation
Before starting his courses with the University, the student had applied for financial aid using the 2014-FAFSA, and was selected for verification by the federal governmentThis meant that he had to provide identifying documentation, including his amended tax return (IRS Form 1040X)This is not a process which the University decides or has control over, although we must collect the documentation before we may package a student for financial aid
The student provided this information on or around January 25,
On January 26, the University spoke with the student to inform him that we had received his form 1040X for purposes of packaging for him for financial aid, but that he had left columns B and C blankThe student said he would make the corrections and would resubmit the form
The student began his first course with the University on January 27,
On February 27, 2015, the student provided his 1040X to the University, however it again was not completed in full, and signed in the wrong places
He was informed of this, and he resubmitted it another month later on March 25, However, that submission was not completed in full either
In the meantime, the student had applied for financial aid for the new 2015-award year, using the 2015-FAFSAHe was packaged for financial aid on May 12, and approved without being selected for verification this timeHis account with the University received two discernments of financial aid on separate days, in a total amount of $12,(Attachment A)
To date, the student has not provided a properly completed 1040XThe University cannot explain why the tax form the student received from the IRS is incomplete, as the IRS would not have likely accepted an incomplete formHe is encouraged to contact the IRS or a tax professional for help with properly completing the form
Credits earned at the UniversitySince Ashford University is a regionally accredited institution, other institutions may elect to accept Ashford University creditsHowever, students should be aware that the transfer of credit is controlled by the receiving institution, and therefore cannot be guaranteed by Ashford University unless part of a valid articulation agreement or included in an articulation numbering systemOutside any formal partnership or agreement, students considering transferring to another institution have the responsibility to determine whether that institution will accept Ashford University creditsAshford University does not imply, promise, or guarantee transferability of its credits to any other institutionPlease visit www.ashford.edu/admissions/transferability.htm to find information about transfer guidelines and a current list of articulation agreements(Attachment B)
Upon paying his balance in full, the University will release transcripts to the institution of *** *** choiceThey can then determine whether his credits will be accepted
Conclusion
Because the verification process is not initiated or controlled by the University, and because the University cannot control who will accept credits earned with us, we are denying the student’s requested resolution and will not provide a refund of the charges for their coursesThe student may be confusing the two FAFSA applications he completed as being one in the same, however, as noted above they are different in award year and different in outcome

Ashford gave me the wrong information therefore I feel like that should be responsible for paying half of my balance if not the whole thingI was given the wrong information when I graduatedI paid over before I graduated because that's what the fin aid staff told meFurthermore I called Ashford to a copy of my official transcript and they would not give it to me but according to their reply back in they agreed to give me one

I cannot believe that my financial aid still has not come through and I have been flagged for filing head of household when I have done so for two years in a row when the IRS clearly says that I am in the right to file Head of HouseholdWhen I brought this to the financial aid department's attention they tell me that I have to physically send in the documentation where it says thisIf you are running a school, isn't this something that you should just have on handLike, shouldn't you just have the IRS rules laying around if this is your business. Then they tell me either that or amend my tax returnBut my tax return is correctWhy would I amend it because you all said so? I called up the governmental Federal Student Aid office and they said that if there was something wrong with my tax return my application would have gotten rejected from the beginning.Crazy and unrealSo......unprofessionalI have never had such a nightmare of an experience at any other school and I am still in my first class that does not count towards anythingIts just their mandatory class that they make people takeWell, it will be the first and the lastBecause I am done with Ashford University

I have reviewed Ashford University's refusal to accept responsibility for its wrongdoing I was assured upon admission that I was being led down the right path to where I wanted to go I made it clear what I wanted to do with my degree upon graduation I was told, even after switching majors, that the program I enrolled in would get me there I did not believe I had any reason to doubt my admissions counselor or academic advisers I was made clear to them why I was enrolling in/switching to a different program I did express orally that I would not get to where I wanted when I switched and when I withdrew and there was no denial that what I was saying was true
I am still requesting the same resolution as listed in my original complaint so that I can complete my existing educational path

from emailing me and made sure that I am on the no call list, to try to stop the persistent phone calls, emails, etcPlease let me know if this form is still necessaryThe only remediation I am asking for, is to not be contacted by any of their representatives any moreAside from that I want it to be marked in their files that I am not a student, nor will I be a student in the futureThere is no debt involvedThank you
