Atlantic Finance called me regarding a debt and offered to set up payments for me until debt was settled. I told them I had Freedom Finance at that time and that debt was on their list but they hadn't settled yet. So, I was told well, you can make these monthly payments until they settle. Wrong. FDR informed me once I agreed to make the payments they could no longer represent me on that particular debt. They defrauded me and I was scared at the time due to overwhelming debt. I have been paying this payment for 2 or 3 years now and want to stop and turn back over to a settlement group. I should not have to pay any more at all due to the devious way they secured my payment.

Review: re: acf account [redacted]

this account is identity fraud. I received no benefit from it. numerous police reports and affidavits have been provided to the creditor. of 15 fraudulent accounts opened in my name, this is the only creditor still hounding me for money . this attitude of pay me whether you are a victim or not is an absurdity. you have been sold a debt that was accrued by an identity thief in my name without my permission, please stop harrasing me for many and return this to the original creditor who promised not to pursue it and then sold it to you. I will not pay go away money when I am the victim here. please do the right thing and close this file.Desired Settlement: remove this delinquent tradeline from [redacted], and [redacted] and close it and move on. this is not right . please stop this.

On 7/29/16, I e-mailed this company regarding how to "go about" getting the $$ pull dates changed, due to my husband's new job that pays on the 1st & 16th. Today, (8/2) I check our bank account and they had pulled again on 8/1.They took that as permission to go ahead and pull the $$ on the 1st..and he doesn't start until around the 16th of August!! I never gave them permission to do this, was just inquiring and thinking that they would reply or call, but nothing was done...but pull the $. They had already pulled the $$ on 7/25 (as agreed) and then again on 8/1. No contact whatsoever!! I mean really, there must be a "situation" were trying to clear up...that's why were with them. No respect for their clients. If you e-mail them, make sure you state NOT to pull unless that's what you want. Be aware of doing business with them!!

Review: I have called and spoken with someone about not calling my parents phone number; and have even added these numbers to their DNC list. They have continued to call my parents and even discussed my account with my father this morning which is a COMPLETE breach in privacy seeing as he is nowhere on the account.

Response:

We have reviewed the consumer’s complaint as well as our records for the account at issue. Our records show that we dialed a number in an effort to establish contact with the consumer on 8/4/2016. Once it was determined that this number was not a good contact number for the consumer the number was marked do not call in our system and has not been called by this office since. After successfully establishing contact with the consumer on 8/5/2016, the consumer supplied us with her cell phone and requested that this be the only number we use to contact her on. We have complied with the consumer’s request and no attempts have been made to contact her except on the number she provided to us. Thank you for your assistance and please contact us should additional information be required.

Review: This company has attempt the serve papers for garnishment to my employer regarding a debt that was not Identified in their paperwork. However, my concerns are the original debt amount appeared to $987.00 w/ their collection fees the amount is now 1772.00. My concerns are that this company buys old debt from creditors, and then threatens consumers with garnishments and add fees that are outrageous.Desired Settlement: To ensure the company is following the Fair Debt guidelines.

Review: Received a phone call from this company about a credit card debt stating that if I didn't take care of this matter that it would be sent to an attorney. She asked me why I haven't paid my bill and that she was looking at my credit score and noticed that I was paying my other bills. I explained to her that this was not the only bill I wasn't paying and that I had financial issues with my husband becoming disabled and with me trying to finish college that I couldn't keep up with my bills. She stated that I could start making payments but I told her I was not comfortable giving her my bank information and that I could mail her my payments. That's when she got really rude and started raising her voice! I felt so uncomfortable that I hung up. This company is not professional at all and I feel that if they wanted me to start paying they would except another form of payment regardless!Desired Settlement: I would like for them to stop harassing me and allow me to mail them my payment instead of them receiving my bank information

Review: This company has called my parents house ([redacted] was her name) and my place of business ([redacted] was his name) seeking payment on a defaulted [redacted] card, that I was unaware of.

When I called them today I was finally transferred over to [redacted].

I had explained to him that I am currently going through a divorce and I assumed this bill was taken care of from my ex. since this bill was previously being paid in person at [redacted] and I had not received any more bills.

Although this agent on the phone, [redacted] (didn't catch last name), was apologetic toward my situation he did comment that when they reviewed my account and saw I have excellent payment history and they could not find why I would not pay this bill, they now understand after hearing my story.

He said they are not laughing anymore and this is not a funny situation and divorce is not funny.

?? Did he just admit he reviewed my account and was laughing about me?

He does not know me.

He also threatened to take this to an attorney if not paid and I told them I am not going to commit to something right now until I am sure what I an afford and when I can make the payment. I also told him that I currently have a lawyer due to my divorce and wanted to see what she recommends I do.

He tried to persuade me to add this debt to an existing credit card with his point being I have $38,000+ available credit in my name.

I explained to him I am trying to get out of debt and pay bills and not have credit cards so I do not like this option.

Through out this conversation he shared his personal experience with his divorce of 21 years, stating he "knows" what I am going through, and it "[redacted]".

He also told me he and his wife would love to have tried harder versus getting divorced and they has 2 boys together.

He then asked me what would I do if my children told me someone was calling them about a debt.

I told him I do not wish to talk about my personal life.

He started to tell me what I would do, and that is when I got upset.

He does not know what I would do, say or what I know.

He does not know my marital situations to state that trying harder in my marriage is an option.

I ended up hanging up the phone due to feeling overwhelmed with his comments.

This conversation was unprofessional and his tactics to receive payments were unprofessional as well.

I do not receive calls at work, and have been spoken to by my manager. They called at 12pm today and then again at 1pm.

I was reprimanded over this, and he did not show any concern when I mentioned this.

I can not afford to lose my job over this.

I never said I did not intend to pay, I asked for time to review my finances and talk to my lawyer.Desired Settlement: No more phone calls to my parents or my place of employment. I would like to not do any business with this agency.

I currently have a good credit score and I am working hard to try to maintain that.

I would like this debt removed from collections and turned back over to [redacted] where I can settle with them directly by paying in person, and clear my name from collections.

Review: This company calls repeatedly my phone and my wife's phone. Usually from a blocked number. Yesterday, they crossed the line and called my employer and demanded to talk to me. I am not admitting or claiming the debt. Even if it was my debt I would not be able to pay it at this time or anytime in the foreseeable future. The caller threatened lawsuit and wage garnishment. She tried to force me into a payment plan. Before I could finish this complaint I was called again. When I addressed her about calling my employer she told me they didn't break any laws. She then handed the phone to [redacted] her supervisor who insisted they only wanted to help. I told him they had broken laws by threatening the garnishment of wages. He said they would never say that. I was told that the only people who complain about Atlantic Credit and Finance are people who don't want to pay the debts. I do not want to be bullied and threatened by this company.Desired Settlement: No further threats. No further calls from unlisted numbers. Proof of debt. To be communicated with by mail.

Thank you for providing us a copy of the consumer’s complaint. After a review of our records we did speak with the consumer at his place of employment and regret that this was an inconvenient time or place to contact the consumer. Review: I started receiving calls from Atlantic Credit and Finance in regards to a personal business matter August 2016. I told the representative that I was unaware of the personal business matter that he was referring to, and that I wouldn't be able to speak on it, and he was instructed to not call back. The representative continued to call and leave messages on my voicemail over the course of several days. There were several times where I answered the phone and re-advised the same representative not to continue to call me, and he always stated that he was going to send the personal business matter in question to an attorney. The last straw was August 23, 2016 when the same representative called my husband's cell phone inquiring about me and wanting to talk to him in regards to the questionable personal business matter. My husband was unaware of what was going on, and merged me in on his call with the representative. Once I was merged in the call, he stated his name and asked permission to speak to my husband in reference to this personal business matter. I told him he did NOT have permission to speak to him, and that I wanted him to stop calling me. He stated then that the personal business matter was in reference to a [redacted] which my husband knew nothing about, and violated my privacy rights. This unwarranted harassment has not only caused stress on my at my job, but now caused a strain on my marriage.Desired Settlement: I would like for all communication and efforts to make contact with me to stop. I need threats to cease. Proof of debt needs to be communicated by mail only. This business also needs to not use scare tactics to force what they want.

Review: I was contacted by this collection Agency and forcefully claiming it will be referred to a lawyer if don't pay anything and start of paying them...which I told them that I was struggling and they are not listening to me at all. Not happy with their forceful nature and the person I was given to deal with.

Plus I already paid them 64 dollars to stop them harassing me...and every two weeks they want 15 dollars to pay this debt true or not.....to be cleared out....

They are not willing to listen to me at all....they are pushy people...And on top of that I am still struggling with the loss of my father who passed away in December 2014...

Please stop calling me or asking for money at this time since I can't pay at this moment....when I do I will start out...

I keep telling them that and I believe I lost one of my credit cards with which I paid to them.

Thanks

Plus I am afraid if I call them to let them know again that my checking account is lost and have had to resettle with new one which will take time to do so, then they will bully me again....

And by the way, in the letter they send me? They are referring me as "Ms." which I assume that is something strange and that is not good to meDesired Settlement: I would love for this business to change its ways and not act and scare customers in order to get them to pay them...I cannot be working with such collection bullies on this matter. I am working with other ones that are much nicer and reasonable to work with....nothing more enjoyable and satisfying....

Poor customer service - I must if call 10 times to get my letter and it is still incorrect. Phone number is incorrect in letter head.

Review: They are a debt collection agency that tried to pit my fiancé and I against one another and has now caused a separation in the family (kids with out a dad now) along with being hostile with my fiancé- per his words. I had originally agreed to pay 400 to get the account cleared on 7/1/16 but called them today to see if I could do 150 on the first 150 on the 8th and 100 on the 22nd all in July so the full 400.00 would be paid in July. I was told no and tough luck with a crappy "I'm sorry" meaning [redacted] you...Desired Settlement: I want to be allowed to pay the 400.00 to close the account over the entire month of July.

Review: When I lost my job, I wasn't able to find another one and lost my unemployment benefits as well. I wasn't able to keep paying many bills including to [redacted] for two hearing aids for I am deaf/hard of hearing.

Soon, Atlantic Credit was harassing me. Despite my NOT have a job, I was FORCED into making payments to them and they also INCREASED the amount that I owed. I have been paying them since 2012 to no avail...

When we recently relocated back to [redacted] to be closer to family after remarrying. Atlantic Credit started calling me stating they never received a payment for June. So, I agreed to a one time payment over the phone. As soon as I made the payment, a week or so later, they cashed in the check they claimed they never received!!! And we sent a payment for July. We're waiting to see if they claim I never mailed it, when in fact, I did.

Because of this, we are not paying them for August IF they hold onto that check for July payment.

I feel that they are starting to play games.Desired Settlement: I want my credit restored as I have been paying them since 2012. They upped what I owed them. I am done.

I live on a fixed income.

They deserve no more payments. I have paid enough! They want payment to continue for 7 years! No way.

Business

Response:

Thank you for providing us with a copy of the consumer’s complaint. Our records reflect that the consumer contacted us in October of 2014 to cancel the automatic payments previously agreed to and begin mailing in payments of $25.00 at the beginning of each month. Our representative contacted the consumer in mid June 2016 to advise that the monthly payment had not been received by mail and a one-time automatic payment was agreed to by the consumer at that time. Further, our records reflect that a check was received and processed on July 5th for $25.00. We have no record of receiving any additional payments since that date. The account at issue will be placed in a Cease & Desist status in our system as the consumer indicates in her complaint that she is done with making payments. However, we will be glad to provide her with a history of all payments received on the account to date and kindly ask that she contact us directly to request at [redacted] We appreciate the opportunity to respond to the Revdex.com.

Consumer

Response:

They are FLAT OUT LYING and we have the proof. We asked that they STOP the automatic payment from Debit Card for the obvious reasons that ANY lawyer would inform their client NOT to do. So, I let the person know that we would prefer making the payments with a check and by sending them in through [redacted] and they accepted it. And have been receiving payments ON TIME til we moved here to [redacted]. Now, suddenly its a problem and they claim they aren't receiving payments? Funny, all other businesses receive their payments ON TIME. Atlantic Credit is the only one and making false claims that they are NOT. I have even asked the other companies to let me know when they received payments from us, they receive it within 3-4 business days. So, now, you tell me WHOM is lying? Atlantic Credit is. They cashed in a check that they shouldn't have, therefore receiving two payments. They haven't yet cashed the one we sent for this month and we KNOW they have it seeing how they received the one they never claimed that they got and cashed. This is deceitful to the paying customer. A practice to which I am sure they do to many of their customers. Any lawyer will tell a client to NEVER allow for a COLLECTION agency to do AUTOMATIC PAYMENTS and for the obvious reason that they were recently trying to do when they called us. They wanted it for a so called one time payment, Ha, they would have kept dipping into our account without prior consent nor approval. They are LYING to the Revdex.com. But what else is new?

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Review: Atlantic credit and finance group continues to call my parents house, intending of speaking with me regarding a debt. My mother insisted after 2 times in one day of them calling, that I am rarely at the house, and that the number they are calling is my parents residence number. Not only did they continue calling my parents house, they also masked their phone number they're calling from at my parents house phone, which is now stored in the caller ID. Also, they mask their number and have several phony numbers when calling my cell phone.Desired Settlement: If I owe a debt, I will pay that debt, but when a company calls my parents, and they're told to stop calling that residence, it should stop. Also, the shady business of masking and hiding their phone number is a sign to mistrust this company. If need be, I will hire an attorney, and whatever this company says I owe will let the courts decide, but also be punished for violating my parents wishes after contacting them many times when they were told to stop.

Review: This company called my employer and told them that I have an outstanding debt with them that I have refused to pay and they are going to attempt to garnish my wages. They advised my employer of the amount I owe, who they are and how much they intend to garnish. I have not received any communication from this company, also there are no pending cases in my state's legal system with my name. My employer has not received any legal court order to garnish. All of these were verbal threats over the phone. I don't even know if this debt is legitimate. I'm sure they are not allowed to release that much financial information to my employer directly either. It was great walking into work and getting pulled into my boss's office to first hear that I allegedly owe someone a huge amount of money. I was embarrassed, and this should never have to happen to anybody else either.Desired Settlement: I want this company to remove my information from their databases and never contact me or my employer again. Also, any alleged debt attached to my information should also be removed.

Business

Response:

We have reviewed our records which reflect that the account at issue is currently placed with the law firm of [redacted] Upon receipt of the complaint we immediately investigated the allegations. The law firm has advised us that they have not made any calls related to the consumer’s account. Accordingly, we kindly ask that the consumer contact their firm directly at [redacted] for any further questions as to the account. Further, based on our initial investigation it does not appear that the telephone contact to the consumer’s employer on 5/29/14 was initiated by Atlantic or the law firm. However, if the consumer could provide any additional information such as the company name or telephone number from the call to their employer we would certainly welcome the opportunity to investigate further. Review: Atlantic Credit & Finance continues collection activity on an account they did not validate per my request (certified letter via US Mail and signed return receipt). Atlantic Credit & Finance has not provided signed proof that I incurred this debt, an itemization of the debt (e.g. total principal, interest, fees, other charges), copy of the applicable contract giving rise to the debt, and a copy of the underlying account statement and other written validation and explanation of the debt. This is a clear violation of FDCPA. At this point I am entitled to statutory damages, as they continue to report this information and that is highly damaging to me. Proper validation consists of copies of some type of current creditor records, not records which only verify that the collector believes an account is valid. They are reporting a collection account on my credit reports. Under federal law, I could sue them and ask for $1,000.00 in damages, since credit bureau reporting is considered a collection activity. I have made every effort including reporting this matter to the Revdex.com and filed a complaint with the New York State Attorney General's office. I am, however, respectfully requesting they stop collection efforts immediately and delete this tradeline from my credit report, or I will have no choice but to exercise my rights in a courtroom before a jury.Desired Settlement: I would like Atlantic Credit & Finance to draft a letter to all three credit agencies, to delete this false, unverified information from my credit report. I would also like a copy of the letter to be mailed to my home address and all collection to cease immediately. to draft a letter to all three credit agencies, to delete this false, unverified information from my credit report. Review: When this company first called me they immediately try to intimidate and bully me into making payments. They told me that if I didn't pay immediately but they would send my account to a lawyer and then I would be sued. When I tried to get further information like what lawyers they would be sending me to what they would be suing me for and who would be suing me it wouldn't tell me. When I later called back to make payments for this account I also asked about the lawyers I had mentioned earlier. I was told that they had to say that to everyone they don't actually know what accounts would be sent to lawyers or who would be doing the account user. They later went back on what they said saying that only certain accounts would be sent to lawyers but they didn't know which accounts would be.

Then a few months later I had to make changes to my payment arrangements. When I tried to call them the first number I was given was disconnected. The second number I tried to call all I could ever get to the voicemail. Because I was never able to speak to an actual person to change my payments my bank account was in over drafted and I'm account then became negative.Desired Settlement: I would really like it if both my bank account an account with this company could be adjusted fix the issue. I also would like it if my account could be pulled from this company so I don't have to work with them again.
