I have no choice but to accept their offer to "replace the countertop without paying for labor or returning it for a refund at my expense"I won't be doing either option because of the expenseWhy did it take Revdex.com intervention to obtain a response? Replacing a countertop which IS defective, at my expense is also unacceptable but they are "covered" by their contract in fine printRemoving this countertop which is now also butted up to new wall tile will create more problems and expense which I cannot affordI appreciate the intervention by Revdex.comBuyer beware!! *** ***

However, THEIR OFFER IS ACCEPTABLE IF:Mid West Manufacturing arranges for Menard, Incto send a letter to me at my home address authorizing me to return the boards to their Dubuque Store for exchange.Mid West Manufacturing's April letter is attached, and only states that I may return the boards to MenardsThere is no mention of exchange.If Mid West Manufacturing complies with the above request, I will consider this complaint resolved

responseWood is a natural product and, as such, it can split, twist, shrink,
etcThese are natural characteristics over which we have no control, as
evidenced by the fact that the door was finished and installed in Ms***'s
home for some time before the panel splitWhile we are willing to send a
replacement door slab for Ms***'s use, we cannot offer compensation for
labor and incidental expenses.We value Ms***'s business and appreciate her

Although I appreciate their offer to replace the door, the matter at hand is the costs involved to hire a contractor to remove damaged door, rehang and refinish it.  I've already paid someone to do this, and then their product cracked due to it being defective.How is it fair & moral for the consumer to be expected to pay AGAIN for these costs?  They're owned by Menards, a multi billion dollar company.    I've read many complaints about them & it appears their response to the complaints about doors is repetitive. They offer to replace the defective piece, but never offer to help the customer offset the additional pout of pocket costs.      I felt it fair and reasonable that they replace the door and give me a refund for original cost of the door of approximately $200.00, which will help cover some of my out of pocket costs to replace/refinish the door.  Considering I spent almost $5,000 for all new doors in the house, I think this is a fair request.I've attached photo's for your reference.    Please let me know next steps.

I am sorry that Mr. [redacted] is unhappy with the prefinished
Knotty Alder planking he purchased. We sent a letter to Mr. [redacted] dated 2/14/17
informing him that he could return the planking for a refund, or exchange, in
accordance with Menards return policy. He was again informed in an email...

3/14/17 that the product could be returned, but it did not carry a labor or
incidental warranty. It appears as though Mr. [redacted] does not want to return the
planking, but is seeking a refund for the purchase. I believe that Menards does
not issue refunds for products unless they are returned.We value Mr. [redacted]'s business and appreciate his
understanding in this matter.

Thank you for your assistance in contacting Midwest Manufacturing in Eau Claire, WI.  reference my complaint with their solid surface countertop.     I received an email from them requesting to have their quality control technician come to my home to inspect my...

countertops.  This past week the quality control technician did come to inspect and take photos of the countertop.   Several days later I received an email from them saying that they will offer an upgrade to quartz countertops to replace the defective solid surface countertops that were installed in my home.    I and my wife are very please with this settlement and I'm writing to you to let you know that you can close out my case if you desire.   Again, thank you very much for your assistance in this matter. Cordially yours, Tom [redacted]

Regarding Ms. [redacted]’s response, we sent her a letter asking her to approve the $400, but we need her approval back before we can notify Menards Guest Services to issue the credit check.   Once we receive Ms. [redacted]’s approval, the credit check will be mailed to her. Also, I’m confused by the verbiage of the communication history… she says she is ok with our offer as long as we follow through, but it’s noted that “the consumer does not find our offer satisfactory”. response is the same view they relayed to me when I contacted them before filing a Revdex.com complaint.  They hold no responsibility in this matter which could have been resolved if they had cut the countertops according to the template we agreed on. I am going to take this matter to our attorney.  Companies that behave like this need to be held accountable for their mistakes and actions.
