Our response remains the same as previously submitted:Our response remains the same as previously submitted:We received a request to quote a replacement piece of glass for Mr*** from our dealer, Doors of Pontiac, on June 6, 2016. We have no record of a quote request prior to that date. We entered a quote for the replacement glass on that same day and acknowledged it back to Doors of Pontiac on June 6, 2016. Per the specific terms of the Visions Limited Warranty and Adjustment Policy for Products Purchased January 1, Through March 31, 2003, "Decisions as to whether to repair, replace, or refund shall be made by Weather Shield, in its sole discretion. During the second (10) years from the date of purchase, Weather Shield will provide replacements for any parts or products determined by Weather Shield to contain defects in material or workmanship at a price equal to fifty percent (50%) of the then list price for these parts or products. Replacement parts will be the closest equivalent current product and may not exactly match the original. Replacements will be delivered to the original point of purchase, with no shipping charges. If shipment direct to the consumer is requested, shipping and handling charges will apply." The original product to which Mr*** is referring was produced on August 30, 2002, and therefore, falls under the limited warranty as referred to previously. The quote was entered and the applicable warranty was applied. The applicable warranty specifically states that shipment direct to the consumer will incur shipping and handling charges. We have quoted the replacement product as requested, in a timely manner, and have applied all considerations according to the terms of the applicable warranty. Under the terms of the applicable warranty, Mr*** is able to purchase the replacement piece of glass directly from Weather Shield Mfgif he so chooses. The warranty coverage will still be applied at a discount of fifty percent (50%) of the current list price for the materials he needs. As previously stated, the product could be shipped directly to Mr***. shipping and handling charges would apply. Mr*** would be responsible for contracting someone to install the replacement product as the applicable warranty covers parts only, not labor. A copy of the warranty has again been included for your reference

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.More mumbo jumbo, no accountability? The issue was about parts ordered through Weathershield directly & their over charging for shipping & handlingThe first part of the complaint dealt with the delay in how customer service responded to my need to secure my home in a timely fashionI will never own another door by them & will tell people not to buy anything made by them & so on & so forth
[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]

Again, as I have responded previously we have fulfilled our warranty obligation. We have visited the jobsite different times to corrected the issueWe had replaced screens, replaced weather-strip because it was cut to short from the factory. We had also replaced balance shoes that could have potentially been damaged by every day wear and tear. Our service tech also stated that there could possible installation issues. We feel that we have fulfilled our warranty obligation by assisting the customer in the field to correct this issue. Since the units are years old we are willing to offer you a $credit upon the return of the windows or offer you $to keep the product as is

Please find attached the applicable limited warranty A copy of this warranty was previously provided from our manual The limited warranty covers defects in material and workmanship Fading of the aluminum cladding is not covered by the limited warranty Further, fading and/or paint issues due to failure to maintain the product, or paint issues due to misuse or abuse are also excluded under the terms of the applicable limited warranty Weather Shield has reviewed the information provided by Mr*** and does not find this paint issue to be a defect in material or workmanship Any opinion to refinish the product is based off of Mr***'s displeasure of the current aesthetic look, and to prevent any further oxidation to the product This does not equate to a finding that the cause of the current issue is due to a defect in material or workmanship

Ms***We have fulfilled our warranty, and further, our warranty expressly excludes cost of replacement or removal of any defective products as I previously enclosed for you in a copy of our warrantyI have attached a copy again for your convenience. As highlighted on the attached warranty- Repairs, refinishing or similar activities involved when skilled labor installs or replaces product is specifically called out as not covered under our warrantyAdditionally, the warranty states, WEATHER SHIELD is not responsible for removing any defective products from the structure in which they are installed, or for installing any replacement products or components provided by WEATHER SHIELD pursuant to this limited warranty, or for any painting, refinishing or other work necessary to complete the installation of replacement products or components, all of which shall be the consumer's responsibilityWarm regards,*** ***Inside Sales SupervisorWeather Shield Mfg***[email protected]

*** is the woman who has emailed me in the past and who I noted in the complaint I am very aware of the stated warrantee but as stated I feel that there should be an "unusual occurrence" exception to in this warrantee as stated given that a $window failed in many areas about years after installation I am not even bringing up the damage to the wood floors below To respond to your comment: 1/months have passed since the window was delivered since I was diagnosed with breast cancer mid April and have just completed a double mastectomy and reconstruction two weeks ago, and therefore have started the conversation again. My hope is that your company which notes " integrity and unwavering commitment to customer service" would see that this window was defective from the beginning and take the higher road and stand behind their product to make sure that the product is up to standard Remember this holds a year warrantee and it has only been years, this clearly show a defective product.I have left a voice mail with your president *** *** and would appreciate a response from him I would be surprised if he does not agree with me and stand behind his product I have been otherwise very impressed with the windows we have from Weather Shield and feel while this is an exception to the rule of your quality the policy stated should reflect your integrity and level of service, reputation and commitment to your customers

In reviewing Mr [redacted] complaint we found he is disputing the shipping and handling cost of $27.00 charged to him on our order [redacted] for screen rollers.  The $27.00 is the cost to process, package, handle and ship the order.  Mr [redacted] was aware of the cost of shipping at the time of payment.  The charges were accepted and paid via MC on 5/26/2015.  If he was not in agreement he should not have accepted the charge and paid for it at that time.    [redacted]Warranty ClaimsWeather Shield Windows & Doors800-680-7650 (Office)715-785-8243 (Fax)

They honored the warranty and replaced the windows, but they replaced them incorrectly. The company's behavior reflects their awareness that they manufacture inferior products and overlook simple details when addressing their own mistakes.Never once did I get any apology for their mistakes, let alone an offer to make things right. While my argument is likely a moot point to them, I want to warn future customers of the poor quality of manufacturing and customer service this company exhibits.

Unfortunately, the cost to replace the damaged sash and windows far exceeds the settlement that WeatherShield has offered.  The statement that they do no longer make the windows and patio door that I need replaced certainly does not in my opinion give them a reason not to honor warranty.  My hopes are that they will review their settlement amount and adjust appropriately.  I've also offered many time that I will be agreeable to getting a similar quality/dimension replacement windows/patio door even if it is not the exact window/or door product. In regards to their statement that a representative was sent out in 2011, we have had continued problems since that representative was present.  That service rep unfortunately did NOT evaluate anything other than the patio door.  We were not present nor were we aware that the service rep was at the property as his visit was scheduled and he was accompanied by our homebuilder, who was a WeatherShield dealer.  Since the installation of our windows, we've continually sent messages to our homebuilder/contractor about issues with the windows, with no response.  I was told originally by a WeatherShield representative that all warranty issues are handled through our local dealer.  Since I had no response from the local dealer, I've begun dealing with WeatherShield directly with no resolution.I've carefully document and can present all inquiries to both our local WeatherShield dealer/homebuilder as well a to WeatherShield directly.  I'm confident that it will be in WeatherShield's best interest to honor their warranty and I look forward to continued responses from WeatherShield.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I would like the windows we have with broken seals replaced as they were under our original warranty including glass with sashes to make for easier replacement.

Tell us why here... Per the terms of the limited applicable warranty and upon review, Weather Shield has sole discretion to repair, replace and/or refund.  Because we no longer offer replacement components for your window system, we would be willing to full-fill our obligations by offering glass at a prorated discount. As stated in the last response we would need the 15-digit glass code in order to process this claim for you.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.][redacted], We would like to clear up what appears to be confusion.  This is our home all year long. You have sent out a couple gentleman to look at the windows.  The first gentleman repaired a lot of broken balance knife blocks that had shot up from what we can only assume was during shipping.  One window flexed so much there is a slight crack in the corner which we had mentioned but was told it wouldn't affect the window.  The replacement screens were also due to damage that happened before receipt. We had also requested a bunch of screws that were burred from the installer in your shop. Your records should also indicate that we complained during the first year of winter with these windows installed.  The second gentleman you sent out installed a lot of foam that was missing including strips that look horrible and out of place.  He also stated that there may have been some installation issues with some windows but weren't that bad. I will agree that the windows have flexed/moved after install.  I believe the frames just aren't meant to handle the sheer weight of the saches with the triple pane option in these sizes.  Also,  the upper saches do not stay in place while trying to close and lock the bottom. When trying to close them the frames will flex and the top of the sach will hit the frame restricting it from closing.  I have recently removed the large mulled together window and spent a whole day trying to reinstall thinking it may have been an install issue. What I found is that it is impossible to get this window any better due to the saches not being square,  there is an 1/8" difference of width from top to bottom in each window that seem to be opposite of each other causing one side requiring the top to be set left to square up and the other requiring it to be set to the right. I also noticed the center post seems to be twisted. Another big issue that I feel causes a lot of the cold air transfer is the large tolerance of the sach's to the frame.  All said, we have been very unsatisfied with your product. We have felt that you wouldn't stand by your product in the past and didn't think there was anything we could do,  however after this winter do not feel we should have to be putting plastic over our new windows every year to try to achieve a heating bill that matches that of our old single pane wooden windows. I understand the windows are a little over 3 years old,  so we feel $4000 would be fair considering we will have to remove and reinstall 10 windows which we thought were going last a long time. I hope this answers any questions or concerns you may have had. We would like to come to an agreement that does not include keeping these windows.Thank you, [redacted]
