I order a blue tongue skink from backwater reptiles and absolutely love it!! The skink, Voodoo, was healthy alert and very friendly right out of the box! My kids love him. I had emailed backwater to varify when to order, delivery dates, etc and was met with quick responses and great service. I WILL be purchasing more reptiles from backwater reptiles!! Very pleased!!!

I was nervous about ordering an animal online but my experience with backwater reptile has been fantastic! I had a few questions and they were answered quickly. Everything from ordering to delivery was outlined and followed exactly. My new baby panther chameleon is very healthy and eating well. I will be ordering from them again :)

My Corn Snake was as tame as if I had raised it all along, and was acclimated and eating in 3 days. I do not tend to write reviews (whether positive or negative) but will make an exception after having had a series of unusually positive exchanges with this company.

Over a month ago I found a listing for a relatively rare Old World chameleon on this site.

I was surprised at the price and assumed that the animal would likely be of poor quality/health.

I was willing,however, to make the purchase and risk the possible disappointment .

Imagine my surprise, when I received a healthy, vivacious specimen.

I was even more surprised by their professionalism.

Apparently the FedEx delivery person left the animal at the door but failed to mark the delivery as completed

The delivery was reported by FedEx as not completed.

Within 15 minutes of the erroneous FedEx report ,I received an email from BackWater Reptiles inquiring about the problem.

I explained that the animal had arrived well and in good condition.

I was so pleased that I placed two subsequent orders.

Each animal arrived well.

I purposely waited a month before writing this to assure myself of the health of the animals.

They are healthy and have voracious appetites.

I could not be happier with the company's service.

I look forward to purchasing more of their quality animals

Review: I ordered a scorpion from this company. It arrived dead. I called them and they said they would only refund my cost of the scorpion, not the shipping. If I wanted another one I had to pay the shipping again. The cost of the shipping is double the cost of the scorpion. They said that was the guarantee. I called [redacted] and they agreed to ship it to me for free and the representative said that they couldn't do that because of their contract with fed ex. The [redacted] rep was willing to talk to them directly and they wouldn't give their phone number. They only communicate on an electronic basis. My mother sent an e-mail and they were degrading and demeaning to her. All I want is what I paid for. I have no way of knowing if the scorpion was dead when they shipped it. They clearly make money on the shipping because they are unwilling to accept the [redacted] offer to ship it free. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. They are rude, offensive and not customer centric.Desired Settlement: I would prefer that they send me a live animal, but if they are not willing to do that, I want my money back. They are nothing short of scam artists.

The customer ordered a scorpion during the month of February, and it unfortunately arrived DOA. His local temperatures hit a low of 18F the day of delivery, which voids our live arrival guarantee. Each customer must click, "Yes, I agree to the live arrival guarantee terms" before an order can be placed. Our website is very clear on the terms of the guarantee, and we accept each customer's digital signature as having read and accepted the terms.

I purchased a Columbian tegu from Backwater Reptiles and it arrived on time, wonderfully packaged, and in beautiful condition. Could not be happier with this transaction, and they have my support 100%. Very highly recommended!

I ordered a cane toad and a pixie frog. They both arrived in great condition and I adore them. The pixie frog is so chubby and I will be ordering all my amphibians from here. They have great selection, friendly staff, answer quickly and beautiful animals. Thank you so much for my new babies.

On Febuary of 2016 I placed an order with this company. I could not be more satisfied. Shipping was extremely fast (I received my reptile early in the morning). Animal was alive and healthy! I definitely look forward to doing more business with this company.

I ordered 2 Leopard Gecko hatchlings from BackwaterReptiles. Being up in Alaska makes it kind of hard to get things on time, so there was an extra day delay, I was getting worried not know how long the heat packs last and hoping they wouldn't end up being a DOA. I received them Wednesday at noon, instead of on Tuesday. Thankfully FedEx kept them in doors and the delivery driver kept them up front in the cab to keep them warm. To my great surprise they made it safe and sound! The heating pack they added in to the package still had a little heat left in it as well. Everyone did an awesome job trying to make it so the Leos would make it up here unharmed. I sent some emails to the customer service and I always had a reply by the next morning. I'm sure its hard trying to respond to several different people ordering from them but I had an excellent experience overall. Thanks everyone at BackWaterReptils!

Review: Backwater reptiles sent me a nile monitor hatchling and the reptile was dead when it had arrived I paid $40 for it to be shipped properly the animal was incorrectly shipped. I could only email the company they would not allow me to call and talk to a person. They wouldnt accept responsibility and wanted me to repay the 40 shipping to resend my animal which was dead because the negligence of the shipper. I wanted them to assure that if I paid the shipping again that I would receive an alive animal and they refunded only the cost of the animal which was 40 without my consent and refused to reship it to me.Desired Settlement: I would like them to accept responsibility for shipping the animal incorrectly and send me one free of charge.

This customer ordered a baby Nile monitor lizard on Sunday, 03/29, which we shipped on Monday, 03/30, and was delivered on Tuesday, 03/31, per the shipping schedule on each animal page of our website. The lizard arrived DOA, which is unfortunate, however the recipient's local temperatures hit 33F (verification attached) on the day of delivery, which voids our Live Arrival Guarantee. Each customer must click, "Yes, I agree to the live arrival guarantee terms" before an order can be placed. This gives us their digital signature acknowledging and accepting the guarantee. An entire page on our website (and on the main menu) explain the guarantee in simple terms: [redacted]Regardless, we made an exception for this customer, and allowed the Live Arrival Guarantee to remain in effect. This means we could either refund the price of the lizard less shipping, or we could ship a replacement for $39.99 (the shipping cost). The customer did not believe this was fair, despite clicking and agreeing to the program prior to ordering. We then made another exception and reduced the replacement shipping to $29.99 (instead of $39.99), but this only resulting in verbal abuse from the customer. I ordered two reptiles to be shipped overnight. They shipped at about noon on Monday and arrived at 11-1130 Tuesday. Such a great experience, will defiantly order from this business again! Only issue is that the lizards were cold when they arrived but warmed up right away and very very active with in minutes.

I ordered a hatchling female ball python, and it arrived the next day. When I received her, I only had one complaint, and that was the box she came in only had a little newspaper, so she must have had a bit of a bumpy ride. However, right out of the box she was active happy and incredibly healthy- practically glowing with health! One of the happiest snakes I've seen! I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase and I will most definitely be coming back again and again :)
