The frogs I order from this website are absolutely incredible. Even when my other two frogs got sick, this one is so hardy. I love him (Noodles) and I like to think he loves me! Puts his little hands on the glass when I come home. Had him for 3 years so far, he’s my baby. He’s also a blue phase, which was pretty cool. Thank you so much for providing healthy happy babies and packaging them with care. So blessed! Can’t wait for my new 6 frogs that I ordered to get here. Wish I could post a picture of him!

I'll start by saying that the Cuban False Chameleon I ordered did actually arrive very healthy and in good condition. HOWEVER they improperly advertised the age of the lizard. They have the designation of 'hatchling' and 'small' on their website. I assumed that given that 'hatchling' and 'small' are in fact different words, that they would have different meanings. However apparently they are used interchangeably on their website as when I ordered a 'small' reptile expecting to receive something in the juvenile to sub-adult range I recieved a hatchling literally marked 'Cuban False Chameleon (baby)' with the tiniest creature I've ever seen in my life. I am an intermediate reptile keeper, and had no intentions of housing a baby because I genuinely don't know how. I also had to spend an extra 150 dollars to buy an entire new setup of appropriate size because he's basically a newborn. Now I'm a very reasonable person, so I explained to them that though I do feel that I deserve a refund as the product was not as described, that I am not interested in pushing that as he likely wouldn't survive the shipment back. I also explained that I suffer from severe mental illness and am not in a position to cope emotionally with the stress that this surprise has caused me. All I wanted from these people was an answer to 2 simple questions that I was struggling to find on my own to help me adapt to their advertising mistake. 1. what has he been feeding on(because he has not responded to any of the 8 different feeders I have available to me. 2. are there any other specific requirements that an infant false chameleon has that an adult would not. These morally reprobate jerks decided that instead of just answering a customers simple question that they would just ignore me. You can say that I should have sussed out their mistake on my own but that's literally just a defense of poor business practices that holds no water. They Falsely advertised to me, and then refused to give me the small bits of information I needed to adapt to that false advertisement. That is wrong, and they know it.

This review is completely false. You had emailed us on Saturday morning (when we aren't even in the office) and we responded, early Monday afternoon after coming back into the office from the weekend. We are not a 24 hour operating business.

Our response was as follows: "We do apologize for any disappointment here-- generally when a small size is ordered, a small size should be expected. If you have any questions prior to ordering, we're always in the inbox and able to help!

The care for a baby is really no different than that of an adult. You just have to provide the appropriate size feeders. You're still providing humidity, water, UVB, heat, etc. We recommend using a standard drip system however you can have a small water dish if preferred. "

- We believe all concerns were addressed and even apologized for his disappointment.

The two painted turtles that I ordered arrived on time and alive. Both are swimming and doing well.

I got my little cuban false chameleon pack very well arrived early I the morning very fisity ready to get in its new cage I would highly recommend them and will buy more from them thank you very much backwater . lorre m

I have never worked with customer service like the service that Backwater provides. There communication was prompt, prices extremely affordable, and shipping was super fast. I will continue using this service as an incredibly efficient way to provide food to my reptile. A++++

Ordering was really easy! One of the tarantulas I ordered were fresh out but they worked really hard with me to get it fixed. I have two beautiful tarantulas from backwater and I'm ecstatic! I called and messaged everyday and they were so patient answering all my questions.

This was the worst 1st first experience I have ever had. It took me 4 times to order a rosy boa snake. They didn't have the snake in stock that was fine because I was not picky because I wanted a rosy boa snake and didn't matter what kind. Then they had trouble processing my payment that was because their site was not userfriendly and kept changing my information. They wanted me to fax my id and a copy of my credit card to verify my payment. That I did not agree with because security issues that my personal information would be floating around . The customer service was awful and they were rude to me when I ask for help with making the payment on their system. Now that the order has been processed. According to their policy, I would receive a tracking number by 8 pm the day before the snake would be delivered. I never receive a tracking number. I tried to call and email to check the status no answer. I am very frustrated and still trying to get the situation resolved. It is like they are running a scam. Do not order from them it is not worth the headache. We were better off walking into the pet shop and buying the snake directly.

On Sunday,March 24 I ordered 2 whites tree frogs and was charged for shipping. The total being $104. Their policy is if you “order on Sunday, ships on Monday, delivery on Tuesday “ . After I ordered I received a confirmation email saying that my order was being processed.
At 9:45 pm Monday, March 25( the day the frogs were to ship) I received an email saying that Backwater Reptiles was “ fresh out of whites”. They then offered the send other frogs of a lesser value with no indication of refunding the difference.
Frankly im confused as to why the site allowed my to check out and was charged for shipping when the frogs I wanted were out of stock.
I at least should have been sent an email immediately stating they were out of stock.
I asked for a refund but have not received a reply.
Extremely disappointed and will not be ordering anything from Backwater Reptiles.

We're unsure of where the assumption came from that you would not receive a refund if you revised the order to a lesser priced animal? That is not our policy whatsoever. I also see you have been taken care of by an associate and fully refunded. We believe this review to not be an accurate representation of this order.

I had never heard of Backwater Reptiles before so I was a little hesitant about ordering. Even the testimonials seemed a little suspect. Of course the item that I originally wanted was out of stock so I received an email stating that I would not be able to receive my order because it was out of stock. They offered me several alternatives for the inconvenience and even overnight shipped it. All of my emails to them were always answered within a couple of hours and instead of wanting a refund I was comfortable with spending my money with them. They are super legit and the customer service is top notch. I have told everyone I know about this website and have been giving daily tours of the site lol. You are number one. Thanks-

This is an awful business. They sell you animals without any sources for food. They don't sell food for the snakes they sold me, nor do they know anyone who does sell it. But they were happy to sell me the wrong food, plus the snakes, for close to $300. What a SCAM.

I purchased 3 tarantulas from Backwater Reptiles on March first...I paid 374 dollars including shipping....after realizing the temperatures would be below freezing in decidedly to cancel my order on March 2nd....I have sent them a total of 10 emails asking for a refund and have not received any kind of reply.....when I try to call the company help line it goes strait to voicemail and then the mailbox is full so that I cant leave a message..
I feel as if I'm being scammed...they sent an order confirmation email today but have mentioned nothing about my refund....I feel likentheyre going to attempt to ship.the spiders in this cold weather which is cruelty in itself and would stop me from.being interested in spending a dime with them.....I spent almost 400 dollars with them only to be ignored

Your order and payment were voided as soon as your e-mails arrived, and our team e-mailed you about this days ago. Screenshot attached of proof. This was a totally unnecessary use of time. Voiding a payment doesn't mean you see a credit, the original transaction just disappears.

I ordered some tree frogs, toads, and a snake from Backwater Reptiles. All of which arrived healthy, and active. Although some of the animals I originally ordered were out of stock, I was quickly notified, and provided with other options. I highly recommend anybody looking for a trustworthy, and informative company, use Backwater

I recently purchased three spiderlings from Backwater Reptiles and had a great experience. I was a little worried about having small spiders shipped to me via Fedex but Backwater Reptiles did an amazing job in getting them packed properly. They actually got stranded in Memphis for one day, due to weather issues, but they arrived alive and well. I received a tracking number the day after my order and if it wasn't for Fedex having the issue, they would have been here as promised.
Their website is designed very well and it's easy to select thru the different species. I am waiting a few weeks to see how these three do and then probably order more to add to my collection!

was actively emailing their sales team about a particular snake I was going to purchase. They are very slow to respond. They also do very poor business.
Three days I am emailing them about this snake and they sold it to someone while I'm waiting for shipping costs. Pretty *** way to do business and definitely lost me as a customer. I'll stick with

I ordered a tarantula for my boyfriend which was supposed to be a Valentine's Day gift. I got an email the day after stating that they didn't have the tarantula in stock anymore even though they were still listed on their website as being for sale. I even checked back and sure enough, it's still on their website. I paid for overnight shipping for them to tell me that they wouldn't have any more until MAYBE that weekend. I asked if I could get a bigger size without paying for the difference since it's their website that's misleading and they said no and that they couldn't give me a refund. I filed a dispute with PayPal because I want my money back and the next morning they email me again (rudely) that they would have just given me a full refund if I had waited and that now I have to wait a week since I went through PayPal. Are they serious? They told me they couldn't give me a refund and now all of a sudden it's my fault for filing the dispute that's going to cause me to wait longer for my money? Ridiculous. I'd never shop here again.

your customer service is great and you answered any questions I had in short order. your livestock shipping thru fedex goes very smoothly and I am impressed. all three animals I received settled down in their new quarters and all started eating the day they arrived so they were not stressed and should do very well. thanks.

I fully payed for an red ackie monitor of 350 dollars and an extra 40 dollars for shipping. In total it was over 400 DOLLARS! I was told that the red ackie monitors were not in stock although in their website it said they were in stock. So then I emailed them saying I wanted my refund back because I wasnt interested in any other reptile but that one. I am not the only one with this problem too. All I want is my money back and avoid any situations in court but if I have too I'll take it there. To backwater reptiles, if you dont have the animals in stock, MARK IT as OUT OF STOCK instead of making someone pay full price for the reptile you dont even have!!! Its complete madness.
