Awesome would have given all 5 stars but they did not have what I originally ordered. Service was great. I will be doing business with them in the future.

I had a wonderful experience with black water reptiles. The people are friendly and helped me with every question I had. I will deffinatly order from them again!

I ordered crickets, a heat pack for the crickets, and waxworms from Backwater reptiles online. The site and my invoice says overnight shipping on the crickets and heat pack. It states 2-3 day shipping for the wax worms. I received the crickets and the heat pack, but I have not received the waxworms. I ordered them on December 19th 2018. I contacted the customer service and the representative just said they hope I understand shipping delays with the holidays. I do understand delays, but not 2 weeks. I ordered from *** and received my packages. I then asked for my tracking number for my order and they said they didn't have one.

Your waxworms were shipped, albeit there was a short delay due to the holidays shrinking the safe shipping window each week. If you're not happy with the waxworms you received, please e-mail us a snapshot of them and we'll take care of it for you.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

My boyfriend ordered me a hatchling cherry head red foot tortoise just before Christmas. After having her for two weeks and doing more research and observing her I realized what we recieved was not what he had ordered. We came to the realization that she is actually a red foot hatchling. Not a cherry head. They sell the red foots for $20 less than the cherry head he paid for. I have emailed them and still have yet to hear a response. Also right after I got her I was worried that she was sick, it took them quite awhile to reply. I also called and left a message and got no call back. However they eventually did message me back but with little help. Unfortunately I think she is sick, she is very lethargic. And I have her habitat exactly like it should be. We just feel that this is very unprofessional and potentially fraud. Especially with it happening more than once. I wish my boyfriend would have done more research about backwater reptiles before ordering. I have read nothing but bad things about this place. I still have the packing slip and it states one cherry head red foot tortoise hatchling.

Hi ***,

Attached is a screenshot of the many e-mails our team has exchanged with you over the last few days, answering your questions and providing information. Our tortoises are all captive bred, not wild caught, and come directly from an extremely reputable U.S. breeder. We inspect them upon arrival and we would never ship a tortoise that was sick.

What you received is a cherry head redfoot tortoise, and our customer service team explained the differences to you via e-mail. If you have buyer's remorse and are not happy with your tortoise, you can ship it back to us for a refund but it would need to be overnight delivery.

I am rejecting this response because: After lots of research and talking to people on the tortoise forum that have cherry heads and red foots I just dont believe she is a cherry head. They are all saying she is a redfoot. Everything about her points to a redfoot but I guess we will see when shes bigger. About her being sick, she seems to be doing a lot better and adjusting to her new home. Even if I was sent the wrong tortoise I do love her and will not ship her back for a refund.

They are not worth a star. I ordered snakes for my sons on the 19th. They left me a message to get them additional information which I sent. I sent them over 10 emails and called over 10 times with no response. They were to be Xmas gifts from Santa to my children. My debit card has been charged and I still have no snakes. I have sent over 5 emails stating I want the order cancelled and my money refunded and still NO response! Now all the emails I am sending are being rejected. I WANT MY MONEY RETURNED!!!!! I am reporting to the Revdex.com and contacting my bank

I recently purchased a Brazilian rainbow boa from this company online. I received an email several days later stating that the product that I had purchased and paid for was not available, and tried to offer me a different one. After telling me they would have one around a week later, I decided to wait for them to be in stock. Again, a week later, they told me there would not be any available and offered me the different products again, or a refund. This caused several inconveniences to myself, as I bought housing for the snake, and chose to go with their company, which caused me to miss out on an opportunity to buy with a different company. Take caution before buying from them.

Absolute worst customer service and “company”. Lesson learned for a family member of mine to ALWAYS review company before making purchase. Ordered a turtle for my nephew for the holidays, showed up dead today, no phone # as it is web based company. Complete bull if you want the truth!!!!!! Karma. It looks like it’s only a matter of time and hopefully they will SHUT YOU DOWN!

Great Customer Service.

I have ordered two turtles from this site, I received one turtle a year ago and another last Friday. The one I received Friday had a little bit of shell damage, so I contacted them to ask about it. They were extremely helpful throughout the entire process and made sure I was happy. They gave me a refund which I will spend on a third turtle from them when I’m ready. Would give them 4.5 stars if I could.

I ordered a jumbo goliath bird eatet on monday they took the 155 dollars out of my account sent me the info saying it was paid for and it be here Wednesday I get an email at 9pm saying they didnt have it and asked if I wabted the medium one thats 70 dollars I have sent multiple emails with no answer I want my 155 dollars they stole from me its completely unprofessional

Your order was refunded per our customer service team on Wednesday, Oct. 3rd. They e-mailed you confirmation on the same day. In your angry e-mails, you mention being told your order was packed and ready, but in reviewing e-mails, no one at our company ever said to you any such thing. If you can send me a screenshot of any e-mail saying that, I'll send you a gift certificate for $100.

Hello ***,Please keep in mind that we have normal business hours of Monday- Friday 9am-4pm which is why you may not of received an immediate response. It's a bit unfair to claim stolen funds from simply not receiving an email response until we are back in the office. Due to the multiple threats, your order has been canceled and refunded.We do apologize for any disappointment--it's one of those things that just happens sometimes since we don't have "traditional" inventory with bar codes, etc. for immediate stock updating. We hope that you would also keep in mind that this is an industry of Live Animals and not (for example) t-shirt, shoes, etc. It is much harder to work around mating schedules, hatch dates, etc. than you may think. We truly do our best to keep everything up to date however it can be quite difficult. We truly understand your frustration as it's frustrating to us as well whenever we hear we disappointed our customers--especially for something that is a bit out of our hands at times. Thank you

Their packaging is not labeled as live animals it is labeled as perishable handle with care. I highly say stay away from Backwater reptiles.

This is an incorrect complaint.

Firstly, the customer placed an order and then e-mailed us to cancel, which we did. We also refunded his payment in full. However, an employee of our's inadvertently did not pull his order, so the package shipped. We then recalled the package via ***, and the snake was returned to us unharmed.

It is unfortunate this customer attempted to claim the snake died when he never even received it. This is unethical at best.

I purchased a Cuvier dwarf caiman on their website. It showed available. They told me I would receive my caiman tomorrow. I just received an email saying they do not have this in stock, after they already charged my account. I have the whole setup ready for what I thought I purchased, and scheduled to be off tomorrow to handle reviving this animal. I spent $344.98. They emailed me asking me to accept something other than what I punched. This is bait and hook this is absolutely unacceptable and a digcusting way of doing business.

Worst company ever. Will sell you a dead animal and when you send them the picture they will lie and say it's not what they sent you!!! Buyers BEWARE THEY ARE A SCAM IT ONLY COST 15 DOLLARS TO SHIP YET THEY CHARGE 45 DOLLARS!!! not only that but if your animal dies and they do decide to sent you another you have to pay ANOTHER 50!!!! ORDER ELSEWHERE!!!

DON'T waste your money! My son save up his money for a fat tail gecko. Upon arrival the animal didn't seem "right" it had labored breathing and kept stickining out it's tounge. Died within 72 hours. Total hassle with the refund of only the purchase price. One more good reason to keep it local! Still waiting for that "refund" been over a week they said 2-3 days.
Do yourself a favor and don't walk run away from this site!Is there a zero star?

This company charged me $124.98 on 05/11/2018. I have never visited/ nor bought items from this company. Somehow they / a client of theirs got a hold of my banking information and caused me to lose $124.98 from my account. I will now have to dispute these charges with my bank once they are "posted". I am highly upset with whoever did this. Do not recommend this company to anyone. It's pathetic.

Without more information we cannot determine which order is being referenced. We receive perhaps 100-200 orders totaling $124.98 each year--it's a common amount on our website. You didn't reference a date, which would be helpful.

Like any website, fraudulent purchasers attempt to steal from us. Blaming us seems counterproductive. Whoever ordered had your credit card information, including card number, billing address, and 3-digit code, as all are required to place an order. We are PCI compliant and vigilant in preventing fraud, as we are the ones who pay for it--not you.

It appears to me that it was a child of your's who placed the order for a large frog. I see the order for ***, delivered to ***).

There is nothing fishy about the order on our end--everything matched the credit card used to place the order and there's no reason a company would not ship an order that looked completely normal.

We would like the $80 frog returned to us--we can provide a free prepaid shipping label, since you've already filed a dispute for a product that was delivered.

After my own experience with these people and reading almost exactly the same story from other people i'm convinced this company is just a front for Overcharging people through non refundable shipping costs. Considering the over nite shipping cost less then 20$ and their charging 40$.
I purchased a Tarantula a 60$ value through them paid 39.99 for over nite shipping. it was dead on arrival. followed their instructions and find out after the fact that their Live on arrival guarantee isn't What the definition of the words would lead you to believe.
Granted these people will send me a new tarantula for ""Free"" But id have to pay for shipping again, an additional 39.99 so after taxes and all said and done id be paying Over 150$ for my original 60$ purchase because of their Negligence.

This company is a total rip-off do not buy a place the order and did not receive it. And was also sent a false tracking number buyers beware!

The tortoise I ordered was sick upon arrival, I called every day for three weeks until it died. They refused to address my concerns until I filed a complaint with my credit card company. PLEASE STAY AWAY from this business”
