[Your Answer Here]
First, I did not contact the firm "multiple times" and it was indeed a multi-year (3 yrs) arrangement -- the high cost should make that obvious. The firm's continued refusal to recognize the true situation only confirms my belief that it operates a scam and takes advantage of customers. Having a "no refund" policy as it insists is only a cover for fraudulent practices and should not be legal.
Clearly ethics are alien to this firm. I hope the Revdex.com can set up a warning mechanism to minimize the number of victims they contact. [redacted]

Hi, There seems to be some misunderstanding regarding this incident. The customer was never contacted by anyone from our company and most likely it seems to be some scam caller who called the customer and asked for money. The customer still has a valid subscription with our company and can...

utilize it whenever they have any trouble with the computer.  As far as refund is concerned, the customer has been using the services from past several months and as per our refund policy, the customer is eligible for a refund within 14 days of initial service contract. Regards, Best Tech 247Tell us why here...

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Best Tech 247's response is untruthful. The number on the pop-up went directly to their business. I have documentation supporting this. In addition, I would like to add that after Best Tech 247 "cleaned and cleared" my computer of all viruses and malware, and charged me $299, I took my computer to the Geek Squad for a full diagnostic check.  They found 347 viruses or traces of viruses, and one BSOD (Black Screen of Death) buried inside my computer. Best Tech is a fake Microsoft Support Scam operation, that uses a malicious pop-up that freezes your computer and directs you to call them to "fix it". They do not fix it, they instead load your computer with more viruses and BSOD, so you will keep returning to them and they can continue extracting excessive fees from you.Their scam is explained perfectly by the Revdex.com in this article: [redacted]

Best Tech 247 is NOT a [redacted] Support company. [redacted] verified that to me today, 08/**/2015. On 08/**/15, I downloaded Windows 10 onto my laptop. My icon screen started flickering madly. A quickly look on my Kindle for [redacted] tech support and called a number that I swore was [redacted] tech support. I talked to a woman name Jenny. She told me that my IP address was compromised and that all of my laptops, my androids, and my kindle were compromised, and that my laptop was crashing. She said a firewall needed to be installed and that I had 10 malfunctions on my computer. I no nothing about computers, and thinking I was talking to a certified [redacted] tech, I agreed. She quickly pulled up a screen with some company name on them, and selected Best Tech 247, saying they could help me for $499.00. (I later found out that Jenny works for Best Tech 247). An hour later, my computer was 'fixed', and before I hung up happily thinking all was fixed and that I saved my electronic stuff from ruins, I was told that my [redacted] Security was not compatible with Windows 10. About 1/2 hour later, I relayed this to my husband, and he said no, that [redacted] was compatible with Windows 10. I quickly downloaded this, which lead to my husband immediately getting a notice from [redacted] that there was a problem with our account. He called [redacted] and we discussed what had happened. They were granted access to our computers and quickly discovered that since Best Tech 247 had 'fixed' the problem, my husband's laptop had literally thousands of blocked warnings on it. [redacted] looked at my computer and discovered that most of my new Windows 10 functions were disabled. They put us in contact with Volcy PC Support who charged us to fix, but they are a legit company. I contacted [redacted] and I will dispute any payment, the FTC, and the Attorney Generals of New York and Virginia. Today I filled out a [redacted] Support Scam and had it verified by [redacted] that Best Tech 247 has no affiliation with [redacted]. Repeat: Best Tech 247 HAS NO AFFILIATION WITH [redacted].

Review: On May ** /2015 I was called out of the clear blue and was told our computer system was hacked. This company suggested they could clean up this mess and prevent damage or crashing of our system. I find this was not truthful on Oct. ** /2015 . At that time the service / my credit card was cancelled by me. I have called this company every day with no resultsDesired Settlement: I expect at least a refund of the remainder of a year of service.

Response:

The customer contacted us for an issue with the computer as she was getting some message on her computer screen indicating some issue with one of her software that she had on her computer. Our technical department worked on her computer and fixed that error after which she confirmed that everything was working fine on the computer. The payment on the customer credit has not yet been processed as we were unable to contact the customer for a follow up regarding the work that was done. We at Best Tech 247 follow fair business practices and do not access or keep a record of any of the personal information of the customer. We believe in 100% customer satisfaction and contact each of our customer’s for a feedback / follow up for the work before any payment is processed. Since we were not able to get in touch with the customer and that is the same reason the transaction was never sent out for clearing to customer’s bank. The customer can check with her credit card company and can confirm that the amount which she paid was never collected by us. However, we would still like to apologize to the customer for any misunderstanding that took place and would like to inform them that we will not be processing any charge on their Credit Card as they are not interested in getting services from us. Moreover, if they still come across any problem with the computer, they can still feel free to contact us for any help or information that they need.

Review: This complaint is on behalf of my parents who are seniors on a very fixed income. While using their computer on November ** 2015 they got a message saying that there was a Trojan virus on their computer and that they needed to call Best Tech's [redacted] number right away.

My mother thought she was doing due diligence in 'looking up' the company, reading some reviews etc but the man on the phone was very smooth talking/panic inducing and she agreed to a $500 US charge to 'fix' the problem.

Naturally once she spoke with her children she came to see that it is very unlikely that a company she hasn't been paying to monitor her computer should be able to access it and randomly identify a virus unless they are part of the problem.

This company is scamming seniors and I want my parents' money refunded. How shameful to be doing this to a senior couple so close to Christmas.Desired Settlement: I would like my parents' money refunded and I do not want 'Best Tech 24/7' contacting either of them again.

Response:

The customer contacted us on [redacted] of November

2015 for an issue with the computer as she was getting message on her computer

from her antivirus program that her computer was infected. Our technical

department worked on her computer and cleaned the virus infection and updated

the security on the computer as well as the firewall settings on the network

and computer. After the work was done, the customer was contacted by our

billing supervisor on [redacted] of November 2015 for a feedback for the

work and to verify the subscription details. The customer confirmed that

everything was working fine on their computer and authorized us to process the

charge towards their credit card. The customer’s daughter contacted us on [redacted] of

November itself seeking a refund and was informed that we haven’t processed the

charge on her parents credit card yet and that the amount would be reflected

back to their account within next 5 business days (which is the time taken by

bank to release the blocked payment). This customer has already been refunded and we do not owe

any other amount to this customer. The complainant’s accusation of we being a

scam company are baseless as if that would have been the case, we would not

have given her parents a follow up call the next day to take an authorization

before processing the charge and would not have offered her a refund when she

contacted us. Rather, if we would have been a scam company, we would not have

provided her with a reachable number and the company’s name and would have disappeared

after taking money from her parents.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I would very much like to know how this business came to have access to my parent's computer in order to suggest that they had a virus. It was a pop-up that said there was a virus and to call the business's number...it was not a message that they received from their anti-virus software. Does this not qualify as Phishing? The complaint will be resolved to my satisfaction when my parents confirm that their visa has not been billed or that the money has been refunded if it was billed. I am waiting for that message from my parents.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Business

Response:

We are not too sure what pop up message the complainant is

referring to. We were contacted by her parents on our toll free number which

can easily be obtained after performing a [redacted] or [redacted] search for

Computer Support. Once we were contacted by the Customer, they told us that

there was a message on their computer stating that their computer was infected.

We took a remote access to their computer after taking their consent and by the

time we had the remote access to their computer there was no pop up message,

rather when we performed a scan on their computer we discovered that their

computer was infected by virus/Trojan.Moreover, the charge

to customer’s credit card was cancelled upon receiving a call from their Daughter

(Complainant) and the money was never taken from their account. The complainant

can contact the bank to verify that. Regards,Best Tech 247

Review: I was getting an email telling me that my Trend Micro Virus was about to expire and I called the number they had listed and it was Best Tech 247 and they told me I have 7 Trojan horses. They charged me $999.98 to fix it and I later heard from Best Buy Technician and from my bank that it was a scam. I called Best Tech 247 and they said they would only refund $200. Later on it changed to $500. I'm calling my bank back to see if this can be resolved.Desired Settlement: I want the entire money refunded.

Review: I contacted what I thought was Tech support for [redacted]. They told me that my computer was 80% corrupted and I called them just in time. the total cost to repair and software was $699. I was told not to use my credit card for 48 hours not even to them. I was told to turn on my printer and make out a check to [redacted]. [redacted] later told me that they changed the name to Best Tech 247. I turned the scam to [redacted] fraud dept. They could not recover my money because I agreed to the scam. The company also told me that it would not do me any good to buy a new computer because it would be corrupted too.I called Best Tech to get my money refunded and at first I was told that there was no refund. It was about two weeks later that I made the call .I was then sent to a [redacted] that told me that I could not recover any money. I told him that his company was a scam and that I would report them to the Federal Trade commission and everybody else that I could think of and hung up. He called back right away and offered me $300 back. I ask how and when I would receive it and he said 3-5 business days. This is day 5 and there are no pending deposits coming. They still have a copy of my check, but that account will only accept deposits. I opened a new checking account.Desired Settlement: They charged me $80 x7 for software. Tech support and taxes all came to $699.

Response:

The customer contacted our company regarding a refund request and agreed upon a partial refund, however a refund was never issued to the customer as our billing team was not able to get in touch with the customer to confirm the account details on which the refund was supposed to be issued.

Our billing team tried to contact this customer a couple of times, however were not able to get in touch with him. Finally we were able to speak to the customer on [redacted] of September 2014 and we came to know that the customer was not happy with the partial refund and our billing [redacted] decided to issue him a full refund and offered him a complementary support of one year. He confirmed the account details with the customer and we got to know that account which was used to make the payment is no longer active so the [redacted] took the account details on which he needs the refund. A paper Cheque has been mailed to the customer from our office on [redacted] of Sept 2014 through regular mail (USPS) and he should be getting that cheque anytime within next 5 business days. The same thing has been informed to the customer.

Please let us know if anything else is required in order to get this matter resolved.

Review: On the morning of 4/**/2015, I made a [redacted] search for a phone number to contact Webroot, my current antivirus software provider. I was attempting to login to my Webroot account and extend my yearly subscription, but it was blocked for some reason. I clicked "contact us" on the google search, and I called the number ###-###-####. The gentleman that I spoke to, [redacted], informed me that my yearly Webroot subscription was out-of-date due to the subscription not being renewed, and that I did not have Webroot antivirus protection on my home computer as of 4/**/2015. He also told me that my system was infected with a trojan horse virus and that my ip addresses were compromised by an out of country hacker. He said that the trojan horse had taken over my network ip addresses. He offered to correct this problem for me by remote accessing my computer, and he said that the cost was $60 per infected ip address. I had 8 infected ip address according to him. This would come to a total cost of $480 plus tax, which came to $499.99 total. [redacted] then remote accessed my computer and had his technician fix the problem with the ip addresses. At this point, I still do not understand what he was doing, but he made a very scary and convincing argument that this ip address problem could allow hackers to access all of my personal information such as bank accounts, passwords, etc. I paid the $499.99 and allowed them to fix my computer. After I did this, I told my son, [redacted] (###-###-####) about what had happened, and [redacted] suspected that I had been scammed. [redacted] called Best Tech 247 directly on my behalf, and they told him that Best Tech 247 is a third party contractor that handles these types of situations on behalf of Webroot. [redacted] then called Webroot 2 separate times, and Webroot confirmed that they NEVER outsource this type of work to third party contractors. [redacted] then called Best Tech 247 back and informed them that he thought they had scammed me, and that I would like my money back. [redacted]'s response was to refund $300 because $300 was for a 1 year technical service subscription that I had agreed to. I NEVER AGREED TO THIS 1-YEAR SUBSCRIPTION, and I do not remember [redacted] talking to me about it. [redacted] pointed out that this invoice did not make any sense because I had agreed to pay $60 x 8 (ip infections) for a total of $480. However, [redacted] then agreed to this $300 settlement with [redacted], but [redacted] said that the $499.99 would be refunded only if I agreed to pay an additional $200 for the "service" that was provided. When [redacted] questioned [redacted] about this, [redacted] became angry and told [redacted] to "do whatever you want" and he hung up on [redacted]. After this, [redacted] gave me the correct phone number to Webroot, and I called Webroot directly, and they informed me that I had to call [redacted] Geek Squad to check on my Webroot subscription. When I called Geek Squad, they informed me that my Webroot subscription was in fact valid up until 4/**/2015!!! At this point, I realized that [redacted] was lying to me the whole time! I also checked the Webroot website, and they provide full protection against trojan horse viruses, so they lied to me about that too! I then authorized the Geek Squad person to re-instate Webroot on my computer and delete Best Tech 247 software that was installed on my computer. I understand that I was gullable, but Best Tech 247 lied to me and fraudulently charged me $499.99 through false threats.Desired Settlement: I request my payment of $499.99 be refunded or not charged at all. I also wish that Best Tech 247's fraudulent business practices be made public.

Response:

The customer contacted us regarding issues with his Webroot Anti Virus which was not working at the time of call. Our technician ran aninitial scan on the computer where he discovered Virus and Trojan Infections on his computer which was also being shared on other devices that were on the Same Network at his house. At the time of initial contact, customer’s webroot antivirus was showing a status of subscription being expired and was asking the customer to renew it. This was also the reason he was looking for help in renewing Webroot subscription (mentioned by the customer in his complaint as well). [redacted] advised the customer that we need to remove the infections from the computer which were not being removed by Webroot as it was not actively protecting the computer and once the infections are removed we would assist him in renewing the subscription. Due to the active infections on the computer, some of the registry files of the computer were corrupted which were causing problems with the computer getting connected to Webroot server and was giving Virus Pop Ups on the computer advising the customer to purchase fake softwares. Once our technical department completed the work on the computer, they asked the customer to check the computer which the customer did and confirmed that he was no longer getting those fake ads and pop ups, after which he gave us a work confirmation email which was his authorization to charge the payment for the services. Customer was made aware of Best Tech 247 being a 3rd party independent support provider at the time of making the payment and also at the time of taking the payment authorization. However the customer was still under the impression that he was talking to Webroot and we were not aware about this fact. When customer’s son called us on his behalf asking for a refund, that is when we got to know that he was under the impression of us being Webroot. We would like to inform the [redacted] and Revdex.com that we never charged the customer upfront for our services. When we process the payment it gets blocked from customer’s card but it doesn’t reachto us until we claim that from our payment processor. Since the customer was not happy with the services with our company the payment was never claimed. In such cases the payment automatically gets refunded by the payment processor to the customer within 10 to 15 working days. Since in this case the customer was not satisfied with the services, the payment was never charged and same was told to his Son ([redacted]).We would like to extend our apology to the customer for any kind of misunderstanding on this issue.

Review: We purchased a new laptop in January 2015. We had some difficulties and went through [redacted] for help and was directed to Best Tech 247. After contacting them, they immediately told us that we had problems with bad files. They said they could fix the files at $60/file on both my new laptop and my husband's laptop for $699.99 and a three year maintenance contract. They made it sound ominous if we didn't agree to the contract. We agreed and paid the 699.99. They didn't give us much information regarding the contract, just told us if we have a problem to call them. Well, two weeks ago my husband called for some assistance and was again told the files on his laptop were a problem and wanted to charge us again for fixing the files. When asked why we had to pay again because we already had paid for the contract, we were told that we should have been calling every month for a maintenance check. Well this didn't make sense since we were told to only call when there was a problem. My husband asked to speak to a supervisor who agreed not to charge for fixing the files. He said they would fix them and call us back. After about 2=3 hours they called back and said all was fixed. Well it wasn't. Needless to say we went back to the company we had before and they fixed it without any charge. We have only had this contract with Best Tech 247 since January *, 2015. We feel they sold us contract that they had no intention of honoring without wanting to charge again for maintenance.Desired Settlement: We would like a full refund. We bought the contract on January *, 2015 for $699.99. We haven't had it a full year. The check was cashed on January **, 2015.

Review: My 84 year old father called [redacted] support and was somehow got this Best Tech company who has no dealings with [redacted] and even told my father not to use them. he has paid for [redacted] support. In dealing with this company they charged him $600 to remove some Trojans and he still has them. He was advised not tot pay them where 2 different Best techs called him a liar, threatened to sue him and even double the charge to $1200. [redacted] has no knowledge of this company and stated my father has support with [redacted] and this company somehow intercepted my fathers contact. They were very rude, not accommodating and didn't even fix the issue. They acted like a fly by night business and should be shut down. Treating badly and taking advantage of an 84 yr old man is unacceptable. They should NOT have any Revdex.com backing in my opinion.Desired Settlement: No charge to my father and for them to have no dealings with him at all.

The customer contacted us for an issue with the computer as his [redacted] Antivirus was not working and he was informed about us being a third party company providing support for computes. Our technical department worked on his computer and activated his [redacted] Antivirus protection on the computer after which he confirmed that everything was working fine on the computer. The Cheque provided by the customer has not yet been processed as we were unable to contact the customer for a follow up regarding the work that was done. We at Best Tech 247 believe in 100% customer satisfaction before any payment is processed and that is the same reason the Cheque was never sent out for clearing to customer’s bank account. We have already forwarded the customer’s feedback to the concerned department and if the information mentioned in the complaint is found to be true, strict actions will be taken against the agents involved. However, we would still like to apologize to the customer for any misunderstanding that took place and would like to inform them that their Cheque has not been processed and will not be processed as they are not interested in getting services from us. Review: Contacted company they said they were a [redacted] affiliated company. They said they would repair computer problem for ..an estimation of 30.$ to 300. depending on problem. They connected to my computer by linking online. said that my computer was infected with virus. Company representative then told me it would cost up to 400 dollars. Company rep. then said my registry was infected and would cost 70 dollars per registry infected and that 8 were infected, it would cost 560 dollars plus tax and it would be 599.98 dollars. I said would get a new computer and company rep said that would do no good my ip address was infected and any new

computer would be reinfected plus every I phone, ipad and even tvs were infected. I called internet provider they said its impossible to infiltrate IP address and that only they can access it. I called [redacted] corp and they said there is no Best tech. 247 affiliated with them. [redacted] at [redacted] said what best tech 247 said was not true and there representation was unrealistic and possibly fraudulent. I contact my Banks fraud department ,they stopped payment on the check that best tech 247 had me make out and send by scanning it . Im not sure that the action they took was necessary . they wiped all information on my computer . I also have seen that other people have had the same problem with this company. [redacted], on [redacted] community dated 8/**/2014 and prior complaint on Revdex.com site which was very similar to my own.Desired Settlement: I think they owe me an appollogy for misrepresenting themselves as [redacted] and telling me fraudulently that I couldnt get a new computer and that they had to get a special permit to fix my IP address and. any other false statements that best tech 247 made.

The customer contacted us for an issue with the computerwhere all the files on his computer were infected by a Ransom Ware named[redacted] (Ref:- [redacted]). We had to wipe clean the customer’s computer as all the files on thatcomputer was encrypted and keeping those files would have led to computergetting infected again and again. Even if the customer had bought a new computer it would nothave fixed the problem since the infection was passed onto all the devicesconnected on the network and that is what the Representative informed thecustomer. Had we have not contained the virus from damaging files on otherdevices connected on the network, the customer would have lost the data fromthe other devices as well.As far as our relationship with [redacted] is concerned, weare a [redacted] Silver partner company which can be verified by visiting our[redacted] Pinpoint Page (Ref:- [redacted]) The customer was contacted for a follow up regarding thework that was done, since we were not able to contact the customer for aconfirmation for the work done, we did not process the cheque which wasprovided to us by the customer. We at Best Tech 247 believe in 100% customersatisfaction before any payment is processed and that is the same reason thecheque was never sent out for clearing to customer’s bank account. The estimateprovided to the customer was for one computer, since the customer was having 2computers and other device like Smartphone and tablets, the price was changed asother devices were also added to the support subscription. However, we would still like to apologize to the customerfor any misunderstanding that took place and would like to inform them thattheir cheque has not been processed and will not be processed as they are notinterested in getting services from us. Whatever work that has been done ontheir computer would be considered as a courtesy gesture from our side. Moreover, if they still come across any problem with the computer, they canstill feel free to contact us for any help or information that they need.

Sincerely,

Review: This company sold my 83 year old mother, who I have power of attorney for, a $4,999.98 service program for a simple virus fix. They intimidated her to believe that her computer was infected and would cause damage to all others she had contact with unless she paid them this exorbitant sum of money. She only uses her computer for email and Facebook and it is worth approximately $100. In my opinion, this was an act of pure fraud and elder abuse. She could have simply thrown the computer away and obtained a new IP address if in fact the allegations of virus were true and they could not fix it affordably. Instead they withdrew $4999.98 from her checking account leaving her without enough funds to live on. She is elderly, on a fixed income and is easily confused by computer issues. She responded to a threat and intimidation by this company by paying them money. I have contacted them regarding what I believe is fraud and am awaiting response. I intend to contact the all agencies governing computer fraud and elder abuse. I BELIEVE THIS COMPANY IS PERPETRATING FRAUD AND WILL ABUSE ELDERS!Desired Settlement: In order to obtain restitution for this it is necessary for them to refund $4999.98 that was withdrawn from her checking account. They need to institute proper ethics and criminal act avoidance training with their sales staff who are contacting the public, and follow all applicable laws in dealing with consumers.
