BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital Reviews (%countItem)

Worst place ever. I took my cat Panther yesterday cause she has been vomiting blood now for several days. These jerks made us obviously wait in our truck. They finally took her inside, just to return & lie to me saying it's her teeth & several need pulled. She is lying between my legs right now dying cause these *** don't care about our beloved animal's. My own *** vetinarian won't see us till October. She will be gone by then as she is shutting down as I type this. I hope they are happy that they are forcing me to watch my cat die. Such creeps. Don't trust these *** I'm in Wa state & this is the Renton one.

BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital Response • Aug 25, 2020

Good Afternoon ***, we are saddened to read your visit with us was anything less than a pleasant experience. Our medical teams strive to provide the highest-quality medicine that owners can be confident in. While our clinician did provide your pet with a brief exam at no charge, we understand conditions can change at a moment's notice. When our team learned of your concerns a message was left recommending Panther be re-evaluated as soon as possible, however, we have not heard from you since. Please know we remain available to speak with you and we hope you were able to have Panther seen. Sincerely, BluePearl Renton Team.

You called & left a very harassing voicemail. It never stated for us to bring her back down immediately to be revaluated at all. My vets office is still refusing to see any of my cat's especially Panther. I know for a fact she was never examined by you at all. If she was you'd of noticed her tail is broken, she has been kicked in the stomach & head. Right now she is still barely eating. The blood vomiting has stopped, yet she is weak & so are my other two indoor cats. You have refused to provide us with proper care. *** also threatened me on the voicemail she left on my phone. These folks will be getting sued if my cats die. Cause we've tried several times now to get proper help with all my cats from several vets offices too. Blue Pearl your horrible & you won't change my mind ever. My girls are all dieing & it's your fault.

Rip OFF! I wish I'd bothered to look up reviews. I trusted my vet who insisted we go here. After a 20 min visit (we were in the car) which included an ultrasound which the vet said was non-invasive, just a simple procedure, no anesthesia, we got a bill for $705 . What in the world? I'm pretty sure my own doctor would charge less. Never Never Never go here unless you own a money tree!

BluePearl is primarily interested in making money. If they can help animals in distress on the way, then they will do so (because it helps them make more money). There are many "horror stories" of BluePearl causing a pet's death either through outright malpractice (***) or due to pricing its services beyond the reach of any normal pet owner (including those who have already brought their pet in for emergency treatment).

In our case, we don't have a tale of outright cruelty or incompetence related to BluePearl, but we CAN list 15 instances where BluePearl Downtown (Manhattan) failed to deliver the premium care which their exorbitant prices are supposed to deliver. However, instead of filling up this page with a 3000 word article, we decided to post the full run-down at ***.

In short, don't go to BluePearl for your pet needs. Based on reports from their very own staff members, (***) the environment there is dire and filled with negativity. In the words of one former BluePearl technician, "It's vet med with the sour taste of corporate greed." (***)

Instead, we recommend several other 24-hour pet hospitals in NYC, some of which we have had positive personal experiences with (although they are a bit further away from home). Below is a list of resources.

I would like to thank everyone that was involved in Zoe crossing the rainbow bridge. I would recommend and have done so. June 11th was a very hard day but was comforted by the vet and his assistant. It was 1'o clock I the morning and I was very upset. Thank you again.

All they want is your money. Admitted my best friends dog for a slipped disc. Within 5 minutes they said he needed surgery immediately and it was going to be $5k and She needed to put down a $1300 deposit. She called to get a second opinion from another vet and they said all he needed was steroids and pain meds and no surgery unless no progression. Along with everything on the internet that said the exact same thing. They then started and IV on him with steroids and did not notify her. She said fine finish that and then I am taking him. They made her feel as thought she was a horrible pet owner fro not doing surgery and said the dog would be done by 1. Called at 1 and they changed the story and said 6. Showed up at 6 and took 45 minutes to get the dog which then came out with poop in his *** since he couldn't stand to poop, they didn't bother to clean him up. They refused to give pain meds or steroids to take home with us. After going to the second vet, they were DISGUSTED that blue pearl did not prescribe steroids or pain meds as that is the first path to take with a slipped disc. Totally disgusted with this place of business who is only out for money and not the pets best interest.

Whatever you do, do not bring your pet to this place. First off, they are nationwide and aren't even Revdex.com accredited. Secondly and most importantly, our little baby girl who is a beagle had her first seizure today which was absolutely terrifying. Her front legs weren't working and she appeared to be going unconscious as she shook dramatically. When I called, obviously worried and stressed, they asked a few basic questions but then Right from there went to payment amounts and everything. I told her I didn't care about that right now and she replied (after wasting a minute) that they aren't taking patients right now because they are under staffed!! I hung up. That was the Blaine MN location. We flew to the Cn Rapids location, got there, and bc of Covid we had to stay in our car and call the office line. Which is fine. But, the front desk said that they are limiting the amount of vets, pets, and owners that can be in there. She then said also bc her seizure stopped, it's not an emergency. As I asked about what if it happens again, she cut me off rudely and said it would be a 3-4 hour wait!

Whatever you do, trust me, do not go to this place. I have another story on this place as well that I am not going to get into. But, trust me when I say that this place is no good for people who truly love their pets, bc they certainly don't. Simply said- it's about the money to them.

Do not take your pet here. It's all about the $$$. They apparently charge 900$ an hour and do not relay this information to you. After you are asked if you want CPR done on your pet for $500 you are sent to wait in your car. After talking to a Dr. myself via phone (I was out of state) I decided the kindest thing for Salem was to put him to sleep. This was after 940$ in charges. For what I am still not sure. A payment of 940$ was made over the phone. When the receptionist or whoever was questioned about what was wrong with Salem and the charges they weren't really sure what was wrong but surgery would be 5000$. So be happy you are only charged 940$ instead of 5000$. This was not actually said re: the money but was the message conveyed. We will send you Salem's paw prints though. How thoughtful of you.

Jaspers page on Facebook will tell you everything you need to know.

I brought in my dog in as an emergency on Monday, June 20, 2020. Due to Covid-19 I had to stay inside my cars as I was not able to go inside the office, which is fine. When I called to let them know that I have arrived, I provided all my information along with my pet's information, and copy of the flash drive which had his X-ray's from the ER visit the night before. When the first nurse came to my vehicle, she already offered a payment plan...red flag number 1. I said well let's have my pet looked at first before we start talking about signing up for a payment plan. When my dog was evaluated, I was told that he would need an MRI so that they could pin point exactly what's going on with my dog. The MRI I was told was between $4000-$6000. Honestly, I was extremely shocked by the amount and I am not in a situation where I can afford having the MRI done.
The next option was to have a "Specialist" evaluate my dog, go over everything that has happened and provide a prognosis and what steps to do next. That was a total of $235.20, which basically told me nothing but the same thing they had already told me that it was either an Infection or a Brain Tumor.
I was offered another option which was to have some sort of ultrasound that "may" help determine what's going on however, that was $800+...again we are in this situation where it's a difficult time when people are not working which makes this is impossible for me. It's sad because Florida is supposed to be this big pet friendly state, however this institution was not willing to help a pet in need under true emergencies. Honestly, I still wish I was living in New Jersey where doctors are willing to help your pet regardless of your money situation.
Fast-forward to Thursday, June 25, 2020 where I took my dog for a follow up appointment at his Vet. I then realized that I did not get my flash drive back from Blue Pearl. I called them that morning and the receptionist who answered the phone said the made notes in the system of where to look for the flash drive for when I go to pick it up. Saturday morning, June 27, 2020 I go to Blue Pearl to pick up my flash drive. I waited for over 20 minutes in the parking lot. I called the office again, and stated that I was in a rush as it takes me 40 minutes to get to Blue Pearl, plus another 40 minutes to get back home. I needed to get back home to give my dog his next round of medication. No one was answering my call, as if they were seeing my number pop up and not answering on purpose. Then Leslie comes outside and says that they cannot locate my flash drive. I told her that when I called, the receptionist who I spoke with said she put notes in the system on where my flash drive would be...but apparently it has gone missing. This is totally unacceptable, to lose crucial information on someone's pet is just outrageous and irresponsible! It tells you what kind of place you are dealing with. I left feeling extremely upset, mad, disappointed because this is my dog who I love and I'm trying to do the best I can for him and I'm dealing with people that can't even keep track of a flash drive.
When I got home, I called back and spoke to the manager Mandy that day. I explained that I went there to pick up my dog's flash drive and it's nowhere to be found. It's absolutely ridiculous how this even happens. I told her how frustrating this whole situation has been dealing with Blue Pearl and leaving with no answers. She basically said "this is a business", and because I didn't have the funds, I couldn't get the help needed for my dog. We ended the call and she was going to continue to look for the flash drive. A few hours later no flash drive, and I'm not surprised. She said she would make a copy, along with a print out of everything. I asked to have this overnighted as I was getting a second opinion for my dog. Needless to say, my request was disregarded. I spoke to Mandy on Saturday, June 27, 2020 expecting to receive the documents on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 and nothing. This is the type of company and people I am dealing with. No concern for people and or their pets whatsoever.

All I am looking for is my original copy of my dog's x-rays that have gone missing, and a credit to my account from that day for all the aggravation I have gone through with this company. My time wasted going back and forth, and the money spent. In the beginning I was hesitant to even going to this place after reding the horrible reviews, but in an emergency situation I didn't have any other choices at the time. Sad to say that the reviews about this place are legit, this place it very unprofessional.

We took our French bulldog to Blue Pearl. We called ahead of time to let them know we had a frenchie in active labor. When we arrived over 40 minutes later there was still no vet there to preform the csection. Over 2 hrs later they finally did the csection and 1 of 3 puppies was dead. We did NOT receive emergency services but were charged emergency prices. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

TL;DR: This veterinary office deliberately left a $300 consultation fee out of two price quotes for a medical procedure for my dog, and then only refunded us half the fee when we reiterated how unfair it was to deliberately leave it out of the quote. On 5/21/2020, I brought by bichon *** to BluePearl (BPH) in Irvine for an ultrasound. Our regular veterinarian was unable to schedule an ultrasound with their normal vet tech due to COVID closures and recommended BPH. A month prior, before making the appointment, I had called and requested a quote for the procedure and was told approximately $500 - $600. When I checked *** in, the tech checking me in confirmed that the charge for ***'s ultrasound would be "approximately $550".*** was seen by the vet, who spoke with me for approximately five minutes to review the findings. She noted that *** was in need of another blood panel test and that PBH was able to run it if I approved of it. I did approve of the blood test and at the time, neglected to request a quote. After her procedure was complete, I was blindsided by a bill for $1,150. The ultrasound was indeed $567, and the blood panel was $154 - a bit more than what my vet would have charged but not outrageous. However, the remaining $430 was for a urine test I had never approved to be run for $167, a few other various exam procedures for minor amounts, and a consultation fee for $209. Having received a quote for $550 4 hours before, I was blindsided. We called to discuss the billing and were informed that the consultation fee was an essential fee always charged for ultrasounds. The fact that this fee was not included in either estimate is incredibly frustrating and I absolutely did not enjoy being slammed with charges for more than the procedure I initially requested a quote was for.We were refunded the urine test fee, the miscellaneous exam fees, but we're told that the consultation fee was unrefundable. They did refund half when we again expressed that we felt cheated.

Desired Outcome

Other (requires explanation) I am literally writing this Revdex.com report to report your dishonest billing practices. I do not have a problem with being charged $200 to examine my dog, but I want to KNOW ABOUT IT FIRST. While $550 is acceptable, I did not have an extra $600 to spend. The fact that you deliberately mislead patients on pricing is dishonest and borders on bait and switch.

I would give 0/5 stars if that was an option. We took our cat in because she wasn't eating or drinking, had thrown up, and seemed to be in pain when laying down or when we picked her up. The vet staff assumed it was a bowel obstruction, and advised us to get x-rays. After those showed no obstruction, they sent her home with anti-nausea meds. When we got home we noticed her tail was bleeding. I called the office and they told me "she freaked out in the x-ray and cut herself". So the staff noticed she was bleeding from her tail and never told us why when we picked her up. After being back at home for another 2 days without improvement, we took her to our local vet (isn't open on Sundays which is why we originally took her to Blue Pearl). It turns out she had an abscess on her tail which likely ruptured while she was at Blue Pearl vet. So not only did your staff misdiagnose her with a "stomach bug" after running $600 worth of tests, but you sent our animal home in worse shape than when we brought her in, with a ruptured abscess on her tail and in a lot of pain. I will never bring an animal back to your clinics ever again. Clearly you only care about how much money you can scam out of concerned pet parents, and not about actual patient care. Luckily our local vet, who is actually compassionate and competent was able to diagnose and treat the actual problem with our cat.

Just came from there! Honestly this whole wait in your car thing we need to find a Dr to look at your pet thing was more than I could take today only to hear we need labs exrays and an ekg are you serious and then charge me 120.00 for that oh yeah wait in the car for hours! Why not tell me this before I drive an hour to get there! Very frustrating to say the least these money pits take advantage of people who just want to know exactly what is wrong with their pet one of the examples of why these places should be shut down!

They get a 'one' only because I can't give a 'zero'. I'm a retired, disabled, combat Vet, and when my service dog was limping, we took her in. $600 and very rude service later, they tell us it's a torn knee tendon. Fast forward to our usual vet a few days later. Broken toe. WTF!

I wish I could give 0 stars....these people do not care about your loved one...they care about the money first...my dog Lenny got parvo unfortunately at 2 years old....they made sure they drained ny entire bank account....I kept him hospitalized there until the 3rd day when I could no longer afford it..but guess what supposedly Lenny was doing better then any of the other dogs who came in there with parvo..like I literally gave them thousands of dollars but they couldnt set up a payment plan for the rest of his needed treatment...that just blows my mind...I took lenny home on the 3rd day...and less then 8 hours later while praying to god to take my babys pain away ...I held Lennys paw and he took his last breath...nobody will understand the amount of pain my children and I went throught that night...I feel like Blue pearl knew that lenny wasnt going to make it...instead of him suffering we could have put him down the very first day....nope thet wanted to make sure I was dead broke first....since this experience I now have pet insurance on my other dogs and ive looked into other pet hospitals who actually do payment plans with their customers and who actually have good reviews...

I was told my dog's emergency treatment would be $3000, however, the following day I was told it was $4200. Our paid bill was $3801.77.
My name is *** (Client ID XXXXXX) and I am writing to dispute my Blue Pearl bill, reference invoice #XXXXXX received on 5/20/20. On 5/18, my primary vet referred me to BluePearl Veterinary Partners - Sarasota, 7414 South Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL, after my dog, Kaia, was having an unknown medical emergency. Upon arriving at Blue Pearl, I was told in order to have Kaia admitted I would have to pay a $4000 deposit (placed on my Bank of America credit card). I have owned pets my entire life, and I have made many trips to the emergency vet, but never have I ever been required to make a deposit before my pet was admitted! However, desperate to find help for my dog, I reluctantly paid the deposit.

On 5/19, my husband and I received a call from Blue Pearl and were told they conducted tests and had yet to determine what was causing her illness. We were told they were keeping her for an additional night, and her treatment cost would be $3000. The remaining $1000 was to be refunded to our credit card. We were told we would receive a call on 5/20 to let us know when she could be picked up.

On 5/20, we received a follow-up call from Kaia's attending doctor and she advised she would call us in the afternoon to let us know when we could pick up Kaia. At no time was cost discussed. Later that afternoon, we received a call from Blue Pearl stating they wanted to keep Kaia an additional night, and her treatment cost was now $4200. We questioned why the cost was so different from what we had been told the day prior. We were told the $3000 covered her treatment cost as of the morning of 5/19, but it did not encompass her treatment costs for the rest of 5/19, 5/20, or her overnight treatment. We were shocked at the exorbitant cost and stated we felt Blue Pearl was price gouging and taking advantage of us. We immediately responded to Blue Pearl to pick up Kaia. The total bill was $3801.77.

Upon getting Kaia home, we reviewed the itemized bill and were stunned at the prices. We were charged $106 to have her blood pressure taken, and 28 pills of Ursodiol was $120.15. I can buy the same amount and dosage for less than $30 elsewhere! To top it all off, when we received a call from Blue Pearl three days later to give us Kaia's test results, we were told she needed an additional medication. We asked for the prescription and Blue Pearl refused to provide it to us. We were told they "do not do that" and we would have to purchase the medication from them directly.

Our first experience with Blue Pearl will most certainly be our last. It is very obvious that their Sarasota office goes above and beyond to exploit customers who are desperate to help their animals by charging outrageous fees and changing the negotiated price without notice. I have disputed the bill with my bank and I have emailed Blue Pearl's corporate office.

I advised Blue Pearl we are willing to accept the original negotiated price of $3000, and we would like a refund of $801.77. I am awaiting their response.

Desired Outcome

We are seeking a reimbursement of $801.77. The original agreed upon price for our dog's treatment was $3000. Upon picking her up, we were charged $3801.77.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
We spoke to Blue Pearl and they advised they were willing to refund $1000 due to lack of communication and questions about the itemized receipt. The refund was returned to our credit card on 5/30/20.

Over priced and did nothing for our rabbit except take $660

I had an accident with my pet (dog) late on a sunday night and when my boyfriend and I looked up emergency pet hospitals we came a crossed Blue Pearl Pet Hospital, due to the recent pandemic it was the only one open so we immediately got in the car and rushed her to the hospital. Upon arriving they took the animal into the hospital and refused to let us in. We had to wait outside to hear what they had to do next to start assessing her injuries, they called us and told us that they would keep her overnight to get her started on vitals and an IV beforfe they get the surgeon in to see if she needed emergency surgery and we agreed but they told us the price would be 3,000 to keep her for the night, we agreed and went home. The next morning they called us and said that the surgeon took a look and said they needed to do surgery, but that the cost would be clsoe to 9,000 and that they needed a deposit before they could proceed. I asked if the finance department could give us a break because it is a pandemic and I was unemployed and she told me unfortunately that was the cost to have to surgery for our dog. We took out 2 credit cards one was care credit the other was an USAA credit card, we charged the downpayment on it and they proceeded with the surgery. About 5 hours later they called us after the surgery and said it went well and that she would most likely would recover and be OK they did say they had to remove her spleen and a nodule near her spleen. We were delighted to hear that the poor baby made it through and was going to recover. They told us no news is good news we will call you later, they called us later and gave us an update that she was in stable condition. The next morning I got woken up by a call at 6:30 AM from the hospital that my dog had passed away. Unfortunately they said due to her injuries her lungs gave out and she did not make it. I then was left with a 12,000 pet bill that they refused to accomodate me with and a dead dog. I went on the website and saw the reviews of others and there were thousands of reviews that were similar to mine "paid a ton of money to this hospital to help get my furbaby get healthy and the animal is dead". This company is a factory for killing poor innocent animals and then leaves the owner with thousands of dollars in debt. I will not allow this to continue without bringing light to this company especially during a pandemic when the least someone needs is their animal dying. Once my dog had passed they then said they would need an extra $180 for the ashes and paw print, as if 12k was not enough. I agreed because I wanted the remains of my animal. We went and got the remains and a week later they called which was TODAY and asked if I was going to be picking up my dogs remains, the women that I primarily was dealing with is naimed DAISHIA, I told her I am not sure what she is saying because I already picked up the remains, and that I wanted to speak to a manager she put me on hold and then told me her manager was in a meeting and would call me back. This company is CLEARLY scamming people during a pandemic and trying to get as much money as they can out of people during the most vulnerable time in their lives. Furthermore I have a death certificate from them with the wrong name of my dog, afye 12k you would think they could the name of my dog right. if I wasn't so on top of things they could be scamming innocent old people that don't keep track of when they pay or haven't paid for things with this company. My request for the justice of my animal and everyone elses that have been subjected to this inhumane company is to please launch a full investigation as to the killing factory that this company is running and stealing peoples money.

I had been dealing with Blue Pearl, Clearwater for a few months now and I can tell you that they started out great...until you can longer pay their exuberant costs. My dog, Diamond needed surgery for a small intestinal mass 2 months ago and was better for a few weeks with no problem, other than normal recovery period. This was at a cost of over $9,000. She then came down with a bacteria that they prescribed antibiotic for....another few hours of being in the center, at a cost of $2,500. She was then better for a couple of weeks, until she went back to treat an absess that she developed, with yet another infection. This time it was ecoli that was drained by doctor for another $1,900.00, when they wanted to do surgery and I refused to put her through that, let alone the cost of yet another surgery. A week later, I returned with her, stating that it didn't work and in the meantime, I was furloughed from my job and couldn't afford anymore treatment. Not only did they tell me to come back, that they would never refuse treatment, especially with being out of work and for what I have spent to date. I brought my sick baby in and not only did they have the nerve to give me a breakdown of $2,800 to $3,600, but told me that this wouldn't be their "gold standard" of treatment and told me that surgery would be a better option and even that wasn't a guarantee. After I, once again, told them I could not afford the cost, the doctor had the gall to tell me that it wouldn't be unreasonable to euthanize her and couldn't do anything else but send her home with oral antibiotic, because that is all I could afford. This company is the most uncompassionate people that I have ever had to deal with. They are only in it for the money and don't care about your pets, unless you have thousands of dollars to spend. I will make sure I speread the word to people that I know, to never trust them again. Since not being able to give the treatment my dog dserved after spending thousands with them, I was forced to euthanize my baby, who I truly believe had a fighting chance. Thank you for nothing!

My bernedoodle got a circle bone stuck on her lower jaw on Friday evening at 6:30. Our vet was closed. We went to Blue Pearl expecting a large bill. We called ahead and when we arrived we called and they came out to get our Willow. They took her inside and called 20 minutes later. They got a group of techs to hold her down and got the bone off the jaw. Best of all there was no charge. I can't say enough about this veterinary clinic. I am impressed and highly recommend them.
