Stay away
You know that old saying "you find out how
good your insurance company is when you file
your 1st claim"? Been a customer of Cabrillo
since July 2016. Had a claim in January 2018 for
frozen pipes. Expense came to $40,000.
Insurance onlv covered half. Every year since
then our premiums go up and they hit me with a
"claim surcharge". So in essence we paid for the
claim. Filed a 2nd claim April 2022 for a
supposed foundation issue. Adjuster came out
to inspect. Submitted report to Cabrillo. When I
asked for adjusters report. They wouldn't share.
Wanted to send a structural engineer out. I
refused after reading the reviews on this site and
others. Seems Cabrillo has a habit of cancelling
policies after home inspections. Instead I
submitted an estimate of the cost to repair from
a licensed contractor. Offered to pay half. Two
weeks later I get a notice of cancellation. This is
a 3rd tier company that doesn't want to pay
claims. What good is insurance to a homeowner
if you can't depend on them to come through in
a time of need? Claim is still pending.

Safe Harbor lacks professional integrity.
Safe Harbor called telling me they needed to take pics of house (first time after 11 years). Employee showed up and stayed for a total of 3 minutes, did not inspect roof or any other area of home, however, they sent me letter cancelling my insurance due to roof issues. Safe Harbor did not give me an opportunity to respond to the cancellation. I decided to have an inspection of my roof by city inspector and they provided certification (wind mitigation) that my roof was fine and I qualified for insurance discounts. Safe Harbor are a bunch of lying s[censored]…stay away!

Poor communicationWe used to have them for home owners insuranceWhen we got a dog, we contacted Cabrillo Coastal to inform themWe were instructed to email them with a picture of our dog (a lab mix)We received no response or contact until our mortgage company sent a letter informing us our insurance had been cancelled by the carrierCabrillo Coastal didn't even contact us directlyWhen we reached out to inquire about this, we were given the run around and then told the adjuster would call usWe never received a callWe were able to reach out to another company and obtain new home owners insurance and still did not hear from Cabrillo CoastalNow, we have been waiting over a month for the refund of what they had already been paidThey sent the check to the wrong address! They then advised us they were sorry no one called to verify a proper addressIf it had not been for us reaching out ourselves, Cabrillo never would haveThey have never, ever called, emailed, or mailed any sort of communication or notificationsThe worst company I have dealt with and I am glad to be done with them

I can't say enough great things about this company and Ed [redacted] ! We were hit by a double tornado in our new mobile home last September This company was here for us within hours and went above and beyond checking on us and our welfare Ed was kind, considerate, compassionate and an all around amazing human being! I can never thank him enough for his wonderful demeanor and helping us tremendously with our claim This was the best insurance company we have ever dealt with

This was our first insurance claim with this companyWe were extremely satisfied with the speed with which the claim was settled and the convenient manner in which resolution was achievedOur agent was clear and concise about the information we needed to provide and the different manner in which info could be sentWe were very pleased!

Unethical practices I asked for an insurance quote for homeowners insuranceI did not sign any electronic or paper applications to accept a policy, however, this company sent me a new policy I immediately contacted them that this was a policy that had not been accepted and should immediately be cancelledThey said they would cancel They subsequently submitted an invoice to my mortgage servicing bank, who promptly paid this out of my escrow funds All this while I have an existing insurance policy in effect A week later, they tried to switch insurance on a home equity loan We were contacted by the second bank for verification The bank officer said US Coastal claims that we cancelled our existing policy for their-this is a total lie We were then contacted by a home inspection company to set up an inspection appointment- which I obviously declined I was pointed to this company through [redacted] Insurance for a homeowners quote, which apparently they don't do directly

Barbara [redacted] exceeded all my expectations for claims specialist after my Recent experience with hurricane Florence she was always professional and there to answer all my questions about my benefits I would recommend Cabrillo Ins andHarbor claims for insurance and help settling claims

Anyone looking to actually have homeowners owners insurance on their property should without question look elsewhereThis company will charge you a premium for 7, 8, years,but, once you have an actual loss your claim is guaranteed to be deniedTheir adjusters are very rude and abrupt henchmen skilled in the art of combing the policy for ambiguous language that they claim in some perverse way excludes them from paying the claim If you request a mediation hearing with an independent party to discuss the denial, they just ignore your letters and callsAfter a quiet period of several months, from your initial complaint, you'll receive a cancellation letter from them stating that they were unable to verify that the repairs you reported in claim had been preformed in a manner acceptable to themTRUST ME FOLKS, DO NOT RELY ON THIS COMPANY, TO INSURE YOU AGAINST LOSSESYOU WILL FIND, AS I DID, THAT UPON AN ACTUAL INCURRED LOSS, YOU ONLY HAD THE ILLUSION OF BEING INSUREDPay the few extra dollars and get yourself a legitimate policy

I have had a horrible experience with as Hurricane Michael hit Oct.10, and I filed a claim days afterI was contacted immediately by this adjuster named Bret from Mobile,Al Oh, he was nice but never a follow though he set up at least -times he was coming and was no showI would call and it would go to voicemailI was with another daughter in Gainsville at Shands hospital and he was to have my daughter next door meet him and open home for him He finally came on I think Oct 26th said he would be there by noon didn't show until about 4: and spent minas it was getting darkI had a tree on home and he told my daughter he didn't think I needed a tarp He also told her my damages probably wouldn't even come up to my deductible of $1600.I get back and there is leakage on the ceiling, mobile home unlevel so many thingsCajun Navy came and helped me and put a tarp on both ends of the mobile home as there was more damage on my roof But what has me really upset according to my insurance company that jerk wrote I canceled on him such a liarI was told because he didn't come until the end of Oct the company he works for had weeks to send in what they foundI send in folders of picture damageI got a call this week from someone in New York that they were sending it back because that adjuster didn't address damages I am waiting to see how they handle in the end and if they give me enough to fix everything before I hire an attorney I will be filing a complaint with the state of Florida on this adjuster Bret and his companyMy sister filed her claim week after hurricane she has an awesome insurance company she has already been issued check over a week agoI am still waiting on what they are even going to do Stay tuned I will add to this complaint as I see their actions

Closed out my account due to sale of home and have been waiting now for weeks for my reimbursement of paid funds...said check was mailed on 18th...its now the 3rd...they have been easy to communicate with, but the follow through is not thereWhy do they only mail things out on fridays?

Very disappointing with this company. First inspection a man just shows up. Not a big deal, except I was not home and my young children were. I had to rush home only to find out it was the inspector from US Costal. And a hour and half later he finishes. Days later he loses all info and has to come back again. This company sends a bill for the next 3 months,which I pay. And 2 weeks later I get a cancellation letter saying there is damage to my chimney and creosote. This is a decorative piece that goes around my chimney (which is actually brick) so we can match my siding. (So there is some rust , not creosote on it. ). At this point I don’t even want them as a insurance company because I’m afraid if I ever have a claim they will probably not pay it. I have never had a inspection for homeowners like this in my life. Mind you this House was redone 11 years ago. Totally disgusted at this point and looking for another company.

Ed [redacted] was my Claims Agent regarding a Windstorm claim in New York resulting in a large tree falling in my yard and major damage to my fenceHe was extremely professional, knowledgeable and courteoushe responded in a timely manner and the claim was settled quickly with no added stress/issuesThis claim process was smooth and I am thankful to get this behind meThank you Very much!!!!

The whole claim process from beginning to end was made much easier by Ed [redacted] He was very responsive to calls and emails and was patient with all of our questions

Our family held a land lord policy with Carbillo Coastal for our NYC rental property Our policy was cancelled because its subsidiary, Imperium Insurance Company, no longer served NY customers We did not receive any notice of the cancellation because Cabrillo Coastal sent the cancellation notice to the tentant's address instead of our mailing address Cabrillo Coastal admitted this was an error on their part and sent me a copy of the letter We were informed of the policy cancellation two weeks after it was terminated by the broker they assigned us The broker had no excuse why they did not contact us after they received the cancellation notice one month before the policy was cancelled All of these errors resulted in us having a lapse of insurance on our record After no fault of own, NO reputable insurance company or broker will take us as a customer Cabrillo Coastal and The Rainey Agency should make efforts to have this removed from our record, as the lapse was their responsibility

Completely agree with other reviewers, this company has terrible terrible horrible communicationwe purchased homeonwer insurance from GEICO, I was not aware that the inspection was scheduled and unintentionally missed itwe did not receive any reminder calls and emails, the only notification received was a cancellation notice in the mailI checked my voicemail and did notice I got a call, but it was so statthat it was very hard to hear the contentsit was not a reminder call but when the inspector was on premisethey shoudl invest in better cell phones for more effective and clear communicationIt is critical to have this insurance so I tried to work things out with the insurance company as it was an honest mistake, but they refusednow it seems like a scam, they take your business and then cancel your policy and leave you in limbo? I wish I had never given them businesses in the first place, I will just go to another providerI strongly urge you to avoid this company, unless you want more troubles in the future when they cancel you out of the blue

We sustained significant damage (over $80,000) to our home during Hurricane FlorenceIt was a very stressful time for our family, but it was made easier thanks to Cabrillo Coastal InsuranceWe contacted the company during the hurricane and we began the claims process even before the storm had ended Within a few days and even before we had electricity restored, the adjuster was on-site to work with us and the company got us our first check shortly thereafterThanks to our claims administrator, Ed [redacted] , we were able to move expeditiously to engage a mitigation service to stop further deteriorationWe could then begin reconstruction to put our home back togetherEd was very responsive and promptly handled our additional claims and adjustmentsHe exceeded our expectations and we are very grateful to him and Cabrillo Coastal Insurance for standing behind us when we needed help mostI highly recommend this insurance company for homeowners coverage
