Strongly discourage anyone from doing business with Safe Harbor or Cabrillo Coastal Insurance.

A company which does not stand behind it's mistake is a company not worthy of our business and apparently this company does not know the value of their customers as shown by the manner in which they handled our case.

In early 2019 we took on a new policy with this company for one of our rentals with the help of an insurance agency, shortly after Safe Harbor sent a contracted inspector to do an inspection on the property (which is perfectly acceptable).
Then in late February we receive a letter from Safe Harbor indicating the following " The inspection notes the water heater in this property is 28 years old and needs to be replaced by 4/10" in order to avoid action being taken on the policy".
At the time we were dealing with a death in the family and didn't give the situation much thought so we just ended up dropping off a new water heater at the rental and hired a plumber to go install it. After the plumber was finished with the job he informed us that he was a bit surprised why were replacing the older unit as it was in great condition and working perfectly, once we explained the situation it was only then we observed that the date of manufacture in the unit was 2003 which makes the unit only 16 years old not 28 as stated by the inspector.
Armed with this info we asked our agent for the inspector's documents and in fact found that the pictures indicated that the unit was build in 2003. By this time the work had been done, new unit was in, of course plumber was paid. We advised our agent to explain this to the underwriter at Safe Harbor which according to our agent the underwriting employee Mrs. Cole admitted that the inspector had made a mistake and she herself had missed making the proper correction on the inspection. Our agent explained that Mrs Cole was going to work with her management team to see what can be done to rectify the mistake.

After a few days of us following up our agent informs us that the stance from Safe Harbors is " When the plumber advised us on of how old the water heater was , the process of replacing the system should have been paused, the request to replace it would have been rescinded." This caught us by surprise, 1st this insurance company neglected to take any responsibility for their mistake and 2nd failed to recognize that plumbers collect fee's for showing up on your property regardless of whether work is conducted or not (but he was already done with the job by the time the age discrepancy came to light) and our time to go shop, pick up and drop off the unit holds some value as well.

All the back and forth was conducted via our insurance agent, no one from Safe Harbor reached out to listen to what we had to say, explain their position to us and maybe apologize on their company's behalf for the mistake, instead they remained silent and distant. After not getting anywhere with our agent we decided to call Safe Harbor ourselves, and even after explaining the situation to the customer service gal was still offered no solution. Not only she could not transfer me to anyone in higher management she supposedly got my number indicating someone will call me back, NO ONE DID.

As a consumer I am now on a mission to insure that as many people as possible hear about how disgracefully this company handled our situation and that nobody else becomes a victim of this company.

This was our first insurance claim with this companyWe were extremely satisfied with the
speed with which the claim was settled and the convenient manner in which resolution was achievedOur agent was clear and concise about the information we needed to provide and the different manner in which info could be sentWe were very pleased!

The whole claim process from beginning to end was made much easier by Ed ***He was very responsive to calls and emails and was patient with all of our questions

I was contacted almost immediately by Ed after submitting a claim onlineThe incident involved a neighbors tree branch that did damage to my propertyEd was great to deal withHe took care of my issues with little effort on my partYou hope to never have to contact the insurance company, but if you do, Ed is the man to handle your claimHats off to Ed and Coastal

Completely agree with other reviewers, this company has terrible terrible horrible communicationwe purchased homeonwer insurance from GEICO, I was not aware that the inspection was scheduled and unintentionally missed itwe did not receive any reminder calls and emails, the only notification received was a cancellation notice in the mailI checked my voicemail and did notice I got a call, but it was so statthat it was very hard to hear the contentsit was not a reminder call but when the inspector was on premisethey shoudl invest in better cell phones for more effective and clear communicationIt is critical to have this insurance so I tried to work things out with the insurance company as it was an honest mistake, but they refusednow it seems like a scam, they take your business and then cancel your policy and leave you in limbo? I wish I had never given them businesses in the first place, I will just go to another providerI strongly urge you to avoid this company, unless you want more troubles in the future when they cancel you out of the blue

We had a claim at my moms house from a toilet water line split and flooded all the hardwood flooring through out the house
I contacted you on Saturday afternoon and there was a professional water clean up crew out on SundayThey placed blowers through out the house and dehumidifiers also
On Monday morning our claims agent Robyn *** contacted me that she would be handling the claim
Robyn scheduled for the wet floor and baseboards to be taking outShe had an appraiser there within daysShe scheduled a packing company to come in and pack out the house so the floors were clear to dry out the concrete slab
She was always quick to reply to all the questions I had Your company is very fortunate to have such a very professional, courteous and caring employee representing your company
The Claim was very reasonable and paid out with daysYes I would put Robyn in for the employee of the year award

Ed *** was my Claims Agent regarding a Windstorm claim in New York resulting in a large tree falling in my yard and major damage to my fenceHe was extremely professional, knowledgeable and courteoushe responded in a timely manner and the claim was settled quickly with no added stress/issuesThis claim process was smooth and I am thankful to get this behind meThank you Very much!!!!

Poor communicationWe used to have them for home owners insuranceWhen we got a dog, we contacted Cabrillo Coastal to inform themWe were instructed to email them with a picture of our dog (a lab mix)We received no response or contact until our mortgage company sent a letter informing us our insurance had been cancelled by the carrierCabrillo Coastal didn't even contact us directlyWhen we reached out to inquire about this, we were given the run around and then told the adjuster would call usWe never received a callWe were able to reach out to another company and obtain new home owners insurance and still did not hear from Cabrillo CoastalNow, we have been waiting over a month for the refund of what they had already been paidThey sent the check to the wrong address! They then advised us they were sorry no one called to verify a proper addressIf it had not been for us reaching out ourselves, Cabrillo never would haveThey have never, ever called, emailed, or mailed any sort of communication or notificationsThe worst company I have dealt with and I am glad to be done with them

I was billed an additional $after paying my bill in full ($1800)There was no explanation for the additional feeWhen I called, they said it was due to a lapse in coverage from when I should have gotten coverage on my new homeIt had taken that long to get the work done to qualify for the point inspectionI felt that it was a misrepresentation of cost

*** *** was my Claims Adjuster regarding a Windstorm claim resulting in the need for an entire "re-roof" of my home
She was extremely professional, knowledgeable, courteous and friendly! *** worked with me and the Roofing contracting company to come up with a fair and equitable financial settlement
*** made this often difficult and stressful situation virtually stress-free and as clear and uncomplicated as humanly possible! Everything was done in a very timely matter, no delays; decisions were made without unnecessary procrastination and maybe best of all the checks were "cut" immediately after all needed documentation was presented to her
*** *** and the Agency did "everything" to process my claim and help me get a new roof without fanfare and needless delays and complications This was as smooth a process as anyone could have hoped for
I am thankful to both *** and the Agency for their professionalism and support they provided me during this claim process!

We were with this company for our home owners insurance for more than years, and had only claims last year, one with a plumping leack from the pipe out side and water came in the bedroom, other is from hurricane Irma blowing away the roof, first they increased the premium , now after some time we got a letter saying that they cancel our policy, the reason being the claimsWe thought the insurance company is to protect us in bad times, but it seems like they want to protect themselves without any claimWhat kind of insurance is this?Wondering who is insured and who is insurer?

I have had a horrible experience with as Hurricane Michael hit Oct.10, and I filed a claim days afterI was contacted immediately by this adjuster named Bret from Mobile,Al Oh, he was nice but never a follow though he set up at least -times he was coming and was no showI would call and it would go to voicemailI was with another daughter in Gainsville at Shands hospital and he was to have my daughter next door meet him and open home for him He finally came on I think Oct 26th said he would be there by noon didn't show until about 4: and spent minas it was getting darkI had a tree on home and he told my daughter he didn't think I needed a tarp He also told her my damages probably wouldn't even come up to my deductible of $1600.I get back and there is leakage on the ceiling, mobile home unlevel so many thingsCajun Navy came and helped me and put a tarp on both ends of the mobile home as there was more damage on my roof But what has me really upset according to my insurance company that jerk wrote I canceled on him such a liarI was told because he didn't come until the end of Oct the company he works for had weeks to send in what they foundI send in folders of picture damageI got a call this week from someone in New York that they were sending it back because that adjuster didn't address damages I am waiting to see how they handle in the end and if they give me enough to fix everything before I hire an attorney I will be filing a complaint with the state of Florida on this adjuster Bret and his companyMy sister filed her claim week after hurricane she has an awesome insurance company she has already been issued check over a week agoI am still waiting on what they are even going to do Stay tuned I will add to this complaint as I see their actions

This company has very poor communication *** *** was my adjuster He did not call me back and each time that I wanted to find out what the status of my claim was I would have to call the main line and have the secretary reach out to him and tell him to reach out to me This continued several times although I would leave multiple voice mails on the phone of *** *** When I finally decided that I wanted to speak to a manager, *** *** was the one he referred me to Mr*** claimed that he would file a complaint for Mr*** I attempted to seek and appeal for my claim being denied (Anyone can see from previous reviews that this company is notorious for denying claims) I wrote several emails to the company email address which goes to the customer service representative *** called me back after the second email that I sent The second email was five days after the first mind you I wrote again the next week In the email I was seeking an appeal and I was also making a further complaint on *** *** *** left a voice mail and had *** *** call me back THE GUY THAT I WAS MAKING A COMPLAINT ON! Customer service is definitely not a strong point for this company.......nor is helping people when they need it Go somewhere else for insurance I don't know how this company has an A+ rating with six out of seven reviews on this page being negative

They are not honest and full of tricks with the customersFirst, this insurance company is going to offer you a really good offer "very cheap"Second, they're going to send an inspector right away until now you are ok you still having the good offerThird, they're going to tell you during the second month of the policy that there was a mistake with the primium and that they need to increase itSo, surprise the offer that they gave is not is there any moreI'm giving one start because I can't give them Stay away from this deceitful "companies"

Very disappointing with this companyFirst inspection a man just shows up Not a big deal, except I was not home and my young children wereI had to rush home only to find out it was the inspector from US CostalAnd a hour and half later he finishes Days later he loses all info and has to come back againThis company sends a bill for the next months,which I pay And weeks later I get a cancellation letter saying there is damage to my chimney and creosoteThis is a decorative piece that goes around my chimney (which is actually brick) so we can match my siding(So there is some rust , not creosote on it)At this point I don’t even want them as a insurance company because I’m afraid if I ever have a claim they will probably not pay itI have never had a inspection for homeowners like this in my lifeMind you this House was redone years agoTotally disgusted at this point and looking for another company
