Capital One Financial Corporation Reviews (2378)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]
The resolution is an untruthful statement from Capital one. For example, the $** ATM transaction they refer to is Not plausible. An ATM transaction fee alone is $**. With a $** minimum withdrawal. So the amount would be $**. Capital One stated in our talk that they have no way of knowing where said transaction was made. Also false. In our 1st discussion January 6th which is Not noted in response the Capital one representative stated that indeed their were irregularities on my account, including the 2 unauthorized payments of $** & $**. However in a return call on January 11th , the representative did an about face and attempted to place blame on me the consumer. When I described my dismay to the Capital One representative and informed her I would contact Revdex.com, she laughed and said that attempt would be futile.  In conclusion I have told the truth and Capital One has misrepresented the facts. It's fraud .

Dear [redacted]I’m following up with you about your concerns submitted to the Revdex.com (Revdex.com) about a payment you made using...

your mobile device. I’m sorry that I was not able to reach you by phone.I understand from your complaint that you made a payment using your mobile device and the payment posted for lower than you intended. Our records show that this was not due to Capital One error. You stated that you paid the minimum payment of $[redacted] on December 1, 2016, but the payment posted for $[redacted]. As a result of not receiving the full minimum payment, a past due fee of $[redacted] was billed to your account. I verified that the past due fee you were chargedwas credited to your account on December 2, 2016. This credit appeared on your January 2017 statement. I have enclosed a copy of your December 2016 and January 2017 statement for your review. You are requesting that we credit you back for the extra payment you made on January 2, 2017, and I confirmed we only received one payment in the amount of $[redacted]. The amount you paid included your minimum payment, past due fee and interest. At this time, your account is currently in good standing. As a reminder, the mobile application has several payment amount options that include, minimum payment due, last payment posted, last statement balance, current balance and other amount. By selecting the minimum amount due or an amount greater than the minimum amount due, your account will remain in good standing.© 2017 Capital One. Capital One is a federally registered service mark. I am a long time holder of a Capital One Credit Card. Recently I found a 141.97 charge to my card by [redacted] Magazine. Upon calling the magazine vendor they claimed that I agreed to an automatic renewal as part of my previous subscription. I am sure buried in the endless fine print they likely had this self-serving clause.
Since my last renewal of the magazine, my credit card number has changed twice due to the rampant fraud the industry has to cope with. What I find disturbing is that Capital One allowed [redacted] Magazine to get my NEW credit card number without notifying me! I feel they failed to provide a basic fiduciary relationship with me and apparently choose to prioritize the interest of a magazine vendor over our long term financial relationship.
I wonder how many of these charges go through without credit card holders knowledge? I also wonder if this is standard operation procedures within this segment of the financial service industry and if indeed the problem is systemic? Is it possible to find a credit card company who will protect my interest?
My experiences with Capital One have been positive until I discovered this policy.
Thank-you for your time.

Dear Mr. [redacted]
The Customer Satisfaction Team of Capital One Investing, LLC ("COFI" or "the Firm") is in receipt of the above-referenced complaint you filed with the Revdex.com ("Revdex.com") on 12/31/16. Thank you for your patience as we researched your...

concerns. To summarize your complaint, you have been seeking a transfer of assets from [redacted] to [redacted], but have not been able to do so due to rejections of your request by the Firm. I would like to address the comments within your complaint, review what has happened, and discuss moving forward. First of all, a transfer of assets from one firm to another presents unique risks to a brokerage firm and therefore requires extra scrutiny. We are not able to accept transfer requests verbally or by email because of this need; requiring paper documents helps us get an appropriate measure of security regarding your assets. We take account security very seriously, and we seek to verify your identity every time you call us to discuss your account. For these reasons, we cannot discuss your account with others, including [redacted] agents and those with Power of Attorney (POA) without your approval during that specific contact. We do not have a way to authenticate a person with POA.
Moving on to the documents we have received, the first set of transfer forms arrived on 10/19/16. At this time, the documents had been signed by [redacted], the POA, but we had not received any legal forms or documents confirming that he had the authorization to act in that way. We received a second transmission sent on 10/31/16, which appeared to relate to the POA, but its pages were illegible. When POA forms were received on 11/3/16, we found we could use them if we had a copy of [redacted] ID on file. We later received a copy of his ID and approved the POA on 11/15/16.
Additional transfer forms came in on 11/1/16, again with the POA's signature, but were rejected. An alert message was posted to your account explaining that transfer instructions were missing or illegible. The documents requested that we transfer [redacted] shares of [redacted] from your account, but only [redacted] shares existed in the account at the time. We explained to [redacted] on 11/16/16 that the paperwork requested a specific number of shares to be transferred, and that amount no longer existed in the account. [redacted] confirmed that the transaction that caused this to· occur took place after the paperwork was created [redacted] shares of [redacted] were sold on 10/21), and we explained in return that we needed [redacted] to send updated paperwork with the revised number of shares to be sent.
Despite the discussion on 11/16/16, the third set of transfer forms that arrived on 11/30/16 had similar issues. In this case, the form requested we transfer more shares in both [redacted] and [redacted] than were owned in the account. We were not able to do this and therefore rejected the paperwork.
Finally, you contacted us on 12/29/16 regarding a new set of paperwork from [redacted] which had been overnighted to [redacted]. We were not in receipt of the forms at the time, but we were able to track them down using the [redacted] confirmation number you provided in chat on 1/3/17. Unfortunately, that form could not be processed, since the [redacted] acco1J.nt number was not used. The form requests a transfer from a completely different account number which does not appear to be relevant to [redacted].
As it stands now, we do not have transfer forms that are eligible for processing. The documents we received on 11/30/16 could still be used, however, if your account indeed had [redacted] shares of [redacted] and [redacted] shares of [redacted] to transfer. If you would like to pursue this route instead of submitting additional forms, you would need to purchase shares of both of those securities by no later than Tuesday, January 10. This is because the POA's signature on the form is dated 10/17 /16, and we must have the transfer approved within 90 days of the dated signature. Since this is a time-sensitive possibility, I placed a phone call to both of your phone numbers on file to discuss it yesterday, 1/5/17, but did not reach you.
If you prefer not to buy shares, [redacted] would require new forms to send your shares directly to [redacted]. You could ask [redacted] to draw up paperwork similar to the forms we received on 12/30/16, but with the proper account number. The 12/30/16 forms requested a full transfer instead of a partial transfer, which would relieve you from having to enter the number of shares to send.
Understanding that this has been a difficult process for you, you may also wish to consider selling shares, taking a withdrawal, and then depositing that money to the [redacted] account. Of course, selling shares could create a taxable event and may not be appropriate for your situation.
I hope this information helps to clarify where things stand with Capital One Investing. I would be more than happy to assist you with this transfer by crediting you with funds to offset the charge to transfer assets, and/or providing trade credits so you can sell shares with no commissions charge and then transfer your cash as you feel it is appropriate, but the requirements regarding transfer forms are important for us to maintain for security reasons. We are not able to make exceptions to those requirements to assist with the transfer.
Sincerely,
Daniel C[redacted] Customer Satisfaction Specialist

I was fraudently charged $475 from [redacted]. Capital One approved the charges because I gave a copy of my id during the reservation. I tried to resolve it and thought cap one would assist to protect me from fraud. To the contrary, they backed [redacted] AND ADDED THE CHARGES. I have been a member 7 years and my experience with the fraud department has me filling violated like [redacted] fraud charges. No one helps and it is only low level escalations who can't do anything. If this is not resolved, I will be forced to make a payment to protect my credit.

This is an on-going attempt to collect significant interest from me since I do pay the balance on time. The response is completely unsatisfactory. Please make sure my complaint shows up in the Revdex.com ratings.

THEY ARE TOO BIG TO CARE! I will never do business with them again. No matter how low my balance is on my credit cards and even when I pay them off, they still refuse to lower my interest rate.

Dear [redacted], I’m reaching out to you about your concerns to the Revdex.com (Revdex.com) regarding a fraudulent account....

I’m sorry for the frustration that you may have experienced regarding this matter, and I would like to share my findings with you. Our records indicate that the account was opened on March 30, 2012, after we received an online application. Your name, date of birth, and Social Security number matches the information listed for you with the Consumer Reporting Agencies. The account was established with the mailing address of [redacted], and an email address of [redacted]. This information was been validated to you through public records. We mailed statements and other notices to this address and have no record of having received any returned mail through the U.S. Postal Service. I have enclosed copies of your April 2012 through November 2012 billing statements for your review. The credit card was mailed to the address in our system of record. We show that the card was received and activated on April 5, 2012, and the Personal Identification Number (PIN) was changed. That same day a cash advance for $100.00 was made at the Ladysmith Citgo Automated Teller Machine (ATM). On May 3, 2012, we received a phone call from you stating the first billing statement had been received, but the credit card had not arrived. We advised that we need verification documents, you had the option to take them to a local Capital One branch, or the documents could be faxed. You requested that we finish the conversation with your boyfriend and we advised him the same information. The address was changed on the October 2012 statement to [redacted], [redacted], and this address was also validated to you through public records. The account charged off due to delinquency on November 28, 2012, with a balance of $606.78, and was sold to [redacted] (PRA). When this happened, PRA became the legal owner of the account. For further assistance, please contact PRA directly at 800-772-1413. © 2015 Capital One. Capital One is a federally registered service mark. All rights reserved. We do not show where you had previously contacted us to report the account as fraud. We are unable to accept this claim at this time until you provide us with a police report naming your ex-boyfriend as the person who applied for the credit card without your authorization. Once we receive this information, we can review this claim again. Please note that Capital One complies with all applicable laws and regulations while servicing and collecting on our credit card accounts. Please be reassured that we keep account information confidential and secure, and we do not disclose account information to anyone other than the account holder. If you have additional questions or concerns, please give me a call at [redacted], Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. PT. When contacting me, please be sure to have the following six digit phone PIN available: [redacted]. I’m glad to help any way I can. Sincerely, [redacted], on behalf of Capital One

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action does not resolve...

my complaint at the present time.  According to the letter that was attached to your email, Capitol One claims they received the documents on Feb.  23 and are reviewing them. As stated in their letter it will take them 20-25 business days to review the papers and respond which will take them until the end of March. The documents were mailed on Feb. 1, 2018 so I don't know why  Capitol One is stating they received them on the 23rd of Feb.  I would like to keep this case open with the Revdex.com until the account has been closed out and a check has been mailed to Patricia as requested. I'm concerned that Capitol One will not follow through with what their letter states. Regards,
