Response:

Dear Ms. [redacted], I have reviewed the situation you explained to the Revdex.com and want to address your concerns. In reviewing your account, we verified that automatic payments are setup, per your instructions, to deduct on the 17th and 28th of each month. Since your due date is the 18th of each month, and you setup direct pay to deduct on the 17th and 28th, your account is correctly reflecting that it is 10 days past due each month. We encourage you to contact us at the Customer Service number provided below to discuss your options for ensuring your payments are on time each month. When Capital One presents payment through the automatic payment process, it can take up to two business days for it to reflect on your bank’s records. As indicated on the enclosed payment history, we processed your automatic payment on February 28, 2015. We’ve also determined that your account has never been assessed a late fee. If you have any further questions regarding your Capital One auto loan, or would like to adjust the payment dates, please contact ([redacted]. If you have questions regarding this specific response, I can be reached at [redacted]. Sincerely, [redacted] Office of the President, Financial Services Capital One

Review: I had an auto loan that was paid in full within a month of getting the loan. During that time I cancelled the warranty I had purchased on the car. The issuer of the warranty sent the refund of $3070.00 was sent to lien holder Capital One. Since the loan had already been paid off that money should have been refunded to me. They refuse to do so.Desired Settlement: Refund the $3070.00 that I am owed.

Response:

Revdex.com No: [redacted]Capital One Case: [redacted]Our customer states that an account was opened in her name prior to her turning 18years old. We have shared with our customer that in order to investigate her request, weneed a copy of her Driver’s License for verification. After requesting this information fromour customer several times by phone, we have not received it as of December 3, 2015.

Unbelievably rude customer service.
I had been with Capital One for so long that I forget how many years. I had always relied on email statement alert from them to remind me to pay my statement. I have GREAT payment record with them. There was a problem with Capital One that prevent them from sending email to me, so I missed a statement. I called in on Sunday to clear it up, get the fee and interest charges dropped, tried to fix the problem. The representative said my account would be unfrozen by the next morning after I paid. I paid and waited. That was all fine with the representative that night.
The next morning, February 15, around 11:20am, I called back to make sure that my account is unfrozen in order to pay for a large order. The representative this time was extremely rude. She explained that the account is still frozen because they don't process statement on a Sunday and asked if this is an emergency. I stated that it's not an emergency, but just a big inconvenience and sighed in disappointment. Then she stated that I should then set a reminder so I don't forget to pay my bill. I was taken back by this so I explained to her that I usually get my alert from Capital One email, but there was a problem with that so I missed it. She then replied that I should I have known that I had a statement dued because the system shown I logged in before the due date. WHAT? I could have logged in for a different reason or other things could have happened. She basically insinuated that I purposefully did not wanted to pay my statement while I just paid my statement (with a great record, nonetheless). I told her I called to check on my account and that I did not asked for any of such implication. The final ending to the conversation goes like this:
She: I already had answered all of your questions. Is there anything else?
Me: You know what? Yes. What is your name?
She hung up
How badly rude is that? It is unbelievable. If Capital One looks at my phone call record, they should be able to figure out who this representative is, listen to the recorded phone call, then discipline her.

Don't get them!! Aside from their high interest they are bad with customer service. In October of 2015 someone stole $204 using my credit info. I have never taken anything out nor ever shared my pin with anyone. That's just stupid. I called them and was told it would take months to resolve. Months passed and I decided to give them a call today. I was told that they wouldn't refund me. I guess the ATM didn't have cameras which is not my fault and maybe that's why the crook chose that ATM. The customer rep even tried blaming me for "sharing" my pin. I even told the rep I never did. I also wonder if they ever planned on calling me of messaging me that they couldn't help. I had to call THEM! Don't waste your time with them. I am cancelling my card and never getting them again. Short $214 (I was also charged with cash advance) thanks to a jerk who is lazy getting a job and to a company with poor customer service.

Review: In 2008 I made the mistake of overcharging a credit card. Once I straightened my self out and returned from basic training I made attempts to reconcile my debts. Capital One has made my credit, and my effort to fix the problem, useless. I started getting my credit reports regularly in 2011 and made several calls to the Capital One customer service representatives who informed me they could not do anything for me because they pushed my debt to a debt collector, which nobody can provide me the name of. I filed a dispute in 2011, 2012, and 2013, and here shortly, 2014's dispute to have the information removed from my report. The account was charged off in 2008 and the amount is something like 2,000, but my credit limit was significantly lower than that and I did not make purchases to that amount. Since the account was charged off, Ive also learned that in 2006 an account in my name was opened with a 0$ balance but is shown as revolving credit. I was 16 in 2006 and didnt open any account at all. I tried to negotiate a settlement with Capital One to remove that account from my report and report my charge off as paid if we reached a fair price being that the NYS statue of limitations where I was issued the card says they could no longer attempt to collect. So in good faith, I tried to reconcile but they have "no record" of my account and could not assist me with anything. Ive been serving the country for 4 years, I know the meaning of integrity and I know how to take responsibility for my actions. I have made numerous attempts to communicate with Capital One so I can move past the black mark on my credit that is now interfering with my financial mobility for not only me but my family. I cant seem to understand why al of my disputes have been responded to the 3 major reporting bureaus but nobody at capital one can seem to justify my "open" account or my charge off. It has been going on 7 years now and I have just exhausted all options to fix my mistake.Complaint concerns: a Credit CardDesired Settlement: I just want my open account to stop being reported and explain to me when and where that account was opened in 2006. I was 16 I couldnt open an account by myself and I was never aware of this account. I believe my mother opened something in my name and has failed to let anybody else know. Additionally, I want/need Capital One to either settle with me on an amount or stop reporting my charged off account. None of what they tell me makes any sense. If they can justify my account details to equifax, they should be able to do it to me. For 4 years now I have been fighting this battle with them and Ive had it. I just want it off my credit or changed to Paid, and Im willing to settle with them.

Response:

Dear [redacted], This letter is in response to the complaint you filed with the Revdex.com (Revdex.com), about the information that is reporting to the Consumer Reporting Agencies (CRAs), like Experian and Equifax. I’d like to address these concerns. In the complaint you stated that you made multiple attempts to settle the charged off account in 2011, but you were unsuccessful. In your attempts, you mentioned that you spoke with several representatives who informed you that the account was taken over by a debt collector. However, you were not provided with any additional information concerning the account. Lastly, you stated an account, opened in 2006, is currently reporting on your credit profile, and that you did not apply for this account. Our records show that your account ending in [redacted], charged off on July 20, 2009. We were unable to contact you to establish a payment arrangement, and the debt was transferred to an internal firm, [redacted]. This firm attempted to collect on the debt from December 4, 2009, to July 7, 2012, and because they were unsuccessful in reaching you, Capital One filed suit on January 14, 2010. The suit was dismissed on April 28, 2010, because we could not locate an active address to provide you with the summons. I confirmed that there is no record of a judgment reporting on your credit profile. In addition, there are no records showing that you attempted to settle the debt in 2011. In your complaint, you also inquired on the balance that is reporting. The current balance showing on the account at this time is $2,062.32. I have enclosed six months of statements prior to the charge off, for your records. We understand that you would like us to update the information we’re reporting to the CRAs, by removing the tradeline from your credit profile. We’re sorry, but we are unable to remove this information, as it is reporting accurately. However, there are settlement options available for you. The details of these options will be mailed to you in a separate letter. If you have any questions concerning the settlement, please contact our Recoveries Department at 800-258-9319.In addition, I confirmed that you were reporting as an Authorized User on an account that was opened in 2006. Although you were not held financially responsible for the account, information for an Authorized User is reported to the CRAs. You have since been removed from that account, and a request has been sent to the CRAs to have this information removed from your credit profile. Please allow the CRAs up to 60 days to reflect this change. Lastly, you expressed that you are currently an active Servicemember in the military. On behalf of Capital One, I would like to extend my appreciation for your time and dedication to serving this country. I am also happy to inform you that your account is eligible for benefits under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA). An additional letter will be mailed to you that will outline the SCRA benefits your account will receive. We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. If you have any questions, you may contact me at 800-955-1455, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET.Sincerely,

[redacted], on behalf of Capital One

Review: I have applied for a CapitalOne credit card several times over the course of 3 years. My credit score (fico) has been as low as 514, and as high as 712, which is high enough for cards with excellent credit, even though capital one gears most of it's products to those with lower scores (600 and under). Numerous times while applying for various cards, they have cited various, and often non-relative reasons why they can't approve me, such as "• Based on your credit report from Equifax, the balance on one or more accounts has exceeded the

credit limit". These reasons have changed every single time I have applied, and some have been down right ludicrous, such Based on your credit report from Trans Union, number of delinquent past or present credit

obligations". Yes, I had one 30 day late, which happens, but this is no reason to deny someone for a card, and as duly noted on my credit reports, I have only missed one payment, and have made over 23 on time payments. I feel that capital one has "black balled" me from getting a card, as people who have credit situations (such as being 30k in debt) have received cards from them.Complaint concerns: a Credit CardDesired Settlement: I am asking if Capital One cannot offer me credit, even if it's a $200 card, to remove all credit inquiries from all 3 credit reports. If Capital One cannot fulfil one of the mentioned obligations, I will be left no choice but to pursue litigation, as I have sufficient evidence they are "Black baling" me.

Application ID: [redacted] Capital One Case: [redacted] Revdex.com Case No.: [redacted] Dear [redacted], This letter is in follow up to your phone conversation with my colleague [redacted] on February 10, 2015, and your concerns forwarded to the Revdex.com, regarding a credit card application and information reported to the Consumer Reporting Agencies (CRAs). We would like to try to help you with this, and I’d like to share more information with you. As discussed with Mrs. [redacted], we have submitted your declined credit card application reconsideration request by form submission to our Credit Department. Our Credit Department will review this request and respond to you in writing, in a separate letter within 7-10 business days. After reviewing your information, our records show one credit card application for a Capital One credit card was submitted on February 4, 2015, which was declined. For your review, I have enclosed a copy of the letter dated February 4, 2015, which provides the reason(s) we were unable to approve an account at that time. I found that we accurately reported a credit inquiry to the CRAs based on your submission for this credit card application on February 4, 2015. This is why we are unable to remove this credit inquiry from your credit profile. EQUAL CREDIT OPPORTUNITY ACT The federal Equal Credit Opportunity Act prohibits creditors from discriminating against credit applicants on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, age (provided the applicant has the capacity to enter into a binding contract); because all or part of the applicant's income derives from any public assistance program; or because the applicant has in good faith exercised any right under the Consumer Credit Protection Act. Response:

I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Whoever replied to my complaint has horrible reading comprehension skills, as they only addressed 1/4th of the complaint. The main issue i,s that in the 4 years I've been able to apply for a credit card, my [redacted] score has been anywhere from 480 to 712.

In April I had a bad car accident in which my car was totaled. I had car and GAP insurance. I went through all the proper channels, responded to all correspondence and kept Capital One informed. I never missed or was late with a payment. In fact, I continued to pay for this car until THEY cut me off. I checked in with them and did all the foot work to get them paid by both insurances so that it would not be on my credit report which reflected a A+ payment history. I have a credit card with them also which reflects the same A+ history. They even approved me for another car loan. It was such a long process. My car Insurance paid, however Gap Insurance will not deal with the car owner because the policy is bought through THE DEALERSHIP making THE DEALERSHIP the only one who can get any info/paperwork from them which is what made this such a process. Well unbeknownst to me, because I was never informed after working with several CO reps and distinctively asking for help and direction on what to do to avoid it going on my CR (yes the calls were recorded AND reviewed), according to Capital One (conveniently now) they only allot 120 days for the vehicle to be paid off. They were aware that I had the insurances and made me think that this process worked along WITH the insurance companies and NEVER informed me that this was a TIME SENSITIVE MATTER. I was continuing to pay them THEY CUT ME OF! I don't deserve derogatory marks on my CR because I was not irresponsible and negligent with this account. There are many people who don't pay or get repo'd for whatever reason and for those of us who do pay. My whole A+ history is ERASED and replaced with a derogatory mark. They really don't care about ruining peoples lives.

Capital One discriminates will close a customers account without understanding facts of a situation. Account was closed after company made blatant mistakes and did not address them to me, even though I reached out on numerous occasions, even to the executive office to notify them what was going on. I have been working for the past 3 months to restore privileges to my account and they continue to stall. If you try to complain about the company they will send you a generic message and state something along the lines of "consumer is disputing issue with other agency" even though I'm not or consumer conversed with agent who addressed their needs, when in fact non of that is true.

Review: Capital one made funds in a line of credit unavailable for use with no sound reason, making the line unusable to me. So I payed it off and closed account. Capital one charged me $450.00 fee for closing early, but in actuality they had made the account unusable to me stating false claims. They should not have levied the early termination fees.Desired Settlement: I would like the money they unethically took from me refunded.

[redacted],

We have reviewed the situation you explained to the Revdex.com and want to address your concerns.

On August 20,2012, a letter was sent to you advising of the suspension of the Home Equity Line of Credit ending in [redacted] effective August 19, 2012, due to the decline in the value of your home. Instructions on how to reinstate the Home Equity Line of Credit were included in the letter.

In your contract, it states that we may reduce or suspend the credit limit during any period in which "the value of your property declines significantly below the property's appraised value for purpose of this Credit Line Account." It also states, "if you close your Credit Line, you will have to pay a Termination Fee of $[redacted] plus any mortgage tax that we have paid on your behalf if this Agreement is terminated and the Mortgage or Deed of Trust is released within the first thirty-six (36) months after the date of this Agreement." As the Home Equity Line of Credit was opened on October 3,2011, the termination fee assessed was accurate.

As a courtesy, Capital One has decided to refund the $[redacted] early termination fee previously assessed. The refund has been processed as a check and will be mailed to you within ten (10) business days of the date of this letter.

If you have any further questions regarding this loan, please contact our Capital One Mortgage Customer Service at [redacted]. Additionally, I can be reached at [redacted].

Review: I am in the process of trying to purchase my first home. My mortgage broker flagged that my credit score had unexpectedly gone down significantly; there was an account in delinquency that was not mine on my credit report. After speaking with numerous people at Capital One I determined the account in question belong to a person I am no longer in a relationship with and my name was put on the account without my knowledge or authorization. Capital One indicated they would take me off the account and it would take a cycle to reflect on my credit score. However, I need documentation sent to the credit bureaus and my broker to show that I am in fact no longer on the account. After calling Capital One again and speaking with a [redacted], Capital One indicated they could not provide such documentation without the account holder's approval -- and yet my information could be added to an account without my approval. After being a member since 2006, I feel this to be completely disrespectful to my identity and privacy. Contacting the account [redacted] puts myself in an unsafe situation and even though I told Capital One this several times they did not care. I cannot trust the account [redacted] to authorize this documentation out of spite. I will lose my first place without this documentation.Desired Settlement: Capital One needs to send myself and the credit bureaus documentation that I have been removed from the account to reflect my improved credit score.

I have always had great service from Capital One regarding my credit card. Like any credit card company, the rates are high and they have no late payment grace period, but everything else has been good. I applaud their fraud watching...they have actually denied a couple of my legitimate online big dollar amount purchases that appeared like they could have been bogus charges because they weren't common charges, but Capital One contacted me in less than a minute from denial to verify the potential fraud and we got it sorted out and my purchase made within minutes of my first attempt. Very minimal inconvenience for the knowledge that they are watching for potential fraud charges so proactively. I have also had to do a couple of charge disputes--both over $1,000.00 and Capital One has been great. Yes it's a little bit of a hassle to answer all the questions so they have the necessary information to pursue the claim, but I appreciate them getting all the necessary information up front so I don't need to continuously provide information or duplicate information to them, and they have always immediately credited my card the disputed amount so I don't have to pay the amount and wait for reimbursement.

Review: I am trying to close down 2 Certificates of Deposits that I have with Capital One. I spend part of the year in Italy (now) and part of the year in PA.. When I contacted the bank in early MAY. to ask how to close down these accounts, since I am not able to come into the branch, I was told to send a letter with notarized signatures requesting these accounts be closed to the King Street Branch. I have been informed by the bank (through numerous long distance phone calls) that as of June 1st they have received the request and are "Processing" the request. They originally told me there was a problem with the address, which is my PA address of record and the address that I receive bank statements and tax documents from them. I have assured them that there is someone at that address (my mom). So there is no danger In sending documents to my address of record. I have spent hours and lots of money on long distance phone calls and driving to the U.S. Embassy to get notarized signatures required by,the bank.I don't understand the delay and want my money as soon as possible.Anything you can do to speed this process along would be appreciated!!Desired Settlement: Close out of my 2 remaining Certificates of Deposit. checks mailed to my address of record with the bank: [redacted]

Review: In March, 2014, I used my card to purchase a pair of shoes. I was unknowingly signed up for a shoe club with an annual subscription cost of $24.99. I did not knowingly sign up for this service and I did not consent to the annual charge. In March, 2015, the retailer charged my card the $24.99 annual fee. I did not pay or dispute this charge because I was not aware of its existence. In July, 2015, I received a letter from Capital One informing me that my account was past due. I logged on and payed the bill in full. I then checked my credit report and found that my missed payments had been reported as late. I contacted the online retailer. They apologized and have removed the charge from my statement. I reviewed my emails from Capital One and learned that I did not receive notification of a statement pertaining to this transaction. I received dozens of solicitation emails from Capital One, but no emails containing an alert to check the online documents center for the months of March, April, May, or June, 2015.

I called customer service and spoke with Tacarro (Agent id [redacted]), who agreed to remove the negative credit reporting. She said she was only able to remove April/May. She was not able to see which months were reported, but was hoping that removal of April/May would completely resolve the problem. We also opened up a dispute. This was done for the purpose of catching any other reporting that was not corrected by removal of April/May reporting. [redacted] informed me that a letter would go out from Capital One to the credit agencies within 24 hours. On July 12, 2015, I followed up with Capital One. I spoke with Deborah (Agent id [redacted]), who told told me that she didn't see anything pertaining to my July 3, 2015, discussion with [redacted]. She did not see that a letter had gone out to delete the negative reporting, or even that a dispute had been filed. She said she would have the prior call reviewed and would call me back, which as not yet happened. My complaint concerns: a Credit CardDesired Settlement: To correct this situation, I would ask that Capital One remove all negative credit reporting that occurred as a result of this unauthorized transaction (March - July, 2015).

Review: I made a payment for the full amount of my credit card balance. I was shocked to see the next day that two payments were taken from my account instead. They are claiming it was for an automatic payment, however if it was the amount would have been zero because I previously had made a payment for this month. The estimated minimum payment was $0, so I am confused on who authorized this company to take $108 from my account and use it as a credit. leaving me with a credit for $108.

I have other bills to pay and capital one is taking unauthorized random amounts of money from accounts and taking advantage of automatic bill pay.My complaint concerns: a Credit CardDesired Settlement: For my money to be returned but also for their automatic bill pay to be secure.

Response:

Dear [redacted], I am writing in response to concerns you filed with the Revdex.com (Revdex.com) about the recent payment activity on your account. I appreciate the opportunity to review and respond to your concerns. On June 22, 2015, we returned the automatic payment of $108.00 to the checking account from which the payment originated. I am sorry for any inconvenience this situation may have caused. Please allow me to explain further. Our records show on June 4, 2015, an automatic payment of $108.00 was submitted through our website to be debited from your bank account on June 10, 2015. On June 10, 2015, an additional payment was submitted through our mobile application in the amount of $276.55. When setting up an automatic payment, the system begins processing that payment three days prior to the payment being applied to your account. It cannot be canceled or altered during that time, even if you make an additional payment to bring the account balance to zero during the three-day processing window. On June 11, 2015, all future automatic payments were cancelled at your request. If at any time you would like to enroll in automatic payments again, you may visit our website, www.capitalone.com. If you have additional questions or concerns, please give me a call at [redacted], Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET. When contacting me, please be sure to have the following six digit telephone PIN number available: [redacted]. I’m glad to help any way I can. Sincerely, [redacted], on behalf of Capital One

Review: In July of 2012 I opened a Capital One Secured Card to reestablish my credit score. I unfortunately lost rental property during the housing market collapse and my credit score was a casualty. I did not lose employment, did not need the card for its credit, merely as a vehicle to increase my credit score over time. As such, when I used the card for purchases I paid the balance off using my checking account/[redacted] card, never paying interest for the life of the card. Since the available to spend was such a low amount, I make deposits in accordance with their policy to increase the "credit" line. I believe the original amount of the card was $200, increased to $300 for good payment history. A few months ago I made a deposit of $300 from my checking account to the card to increase the available to spend to a more palatable $600. This was processed by Capital One without issue. On September 19th I again made a deposit through their website in the amount of $400 to increase the available to spend to $1000 from the same account. When one makes a deposit you are logged in securely to your account, are asked to verify that you authorize the payment, and the funds are then debited from your account within 10 days. When I went online to pay a recent charge of $32.74 I noticed that my account was restricted for "fraud" concerns (Capital One did accept my payment of $32.74 while the account was restricted). I first chatted with a rep on their secure chat feature who wouldnt tell me what happened to my account. When I called later that night the reason for restriction was not given to me until I escalated the issue to a superior, who told me my account was restricted for interesting transactions, and that Capital One needed to verify my bank account. This is the same bank account that I have used for the prior deposit, and most if not all of the multiple payments per MONTH I send to keep the account at zero. I understand the spending habits may seem peculiar for a secured card, as they are often issued to people in financial transition. I am not. However, I feel my consumer rights have been violated here and someone has to stand up for the consumer in situations such as this. I asked Capital One why it accepted the funds and then after asked to verify my account rather than rejecting the deposit and restricting the account, and there was no explanation given. I asked Capital One why they accepted a payment to the account during restriction and there was no explanation. Frustrated with these bizarre business practices I instructed Capital One to close my account and send back my secured deposits. I do NOT want to do business with a company that acts in such a manner with its excellent customers. I was told closing my account was not an option, as the funds in my account are "unverified". So as it stands, my account is restricted without usage, my money is being held in escrow against my will, and I cannot close my account and move my business to another credit card company. Nowhere in the customer agreement are the practices listed. I demand that Capital One either release my funds back to me or open my account and allow access to my deposits. Holding my funds in escrow as such is illegal. It is unfathomable to me that Capital One thinks this practice is acceptable by any means.Desired Settlement: Capital One's first option is to open the account and let me have access to my funds. I refuse to be treated in such a way by a corporation just because they felt they can restrict access to my money at their whimsy. I will not have my privacy attacked by some foolish, arbitrary, random "policy". The other option is to close my account and return my money to me. Thanks, [redacted]
