The project went very well. This is the second project that Certified has performed on my home. I needed all of the copings, scupper boxes, and downspouts replaced, as they were damaged by another contractor. Certified came out to inspect, and the technician walked me through the work that would need to be performed. Shortly thereafter, they provided me with a project cost schedule, and began performing the work even a little earlier than I had expected. All of the work was done professionally and timely with proper attention to detail. The technicians were very courteous and answered questions that I had during the course of the project. They also left the surroundings neat and clean at the end of the project. I would definitely recommend them and use them again for future roofing needs.

This company replaced the roof on my parents' house in December. We were so pleased with their work we contracted with them last month to also cap the trim boards and install new gutters and downspouts. The costs for both projects were well within the expected range common for this area and the magnitude of each job. Everyone from the office staff to the workers were always professional and responsive throughout. Both projects were scheduled and completed within days of signing the contracts and my parents' property was clean and in order when the workers left. I give Certified Inc. my highest/strongest recommendation; very pleased w/their workmanship and quality/look of the finished job. They re-roofed our house (cedar shakes to ***/charcoal black asphalt shingles), installed a cricket (water diverter between roof and chimney) and replaced builder-grade gutters and downspouts with 6" gutters and downspouts. They complete the roofing job in 3 days (including a rained out partial day), and the gutter/downspout team complete the job in approx. 3/4 of a day. I was at home for both jobs and was very impressed with skill, knowledge, professionalism and friendliness of both the roof and gutter/downspout crews.

My one mistake, and it was my mistake: I expected a shingled-over cricket, and Certified installed a metal cricket. I take full responsibility for this because I didn't discuss the specific design/construction of the cricket with Jose when we worked up contract. I assumed one thing, and they did another. I told Jose I would live with the metal cricket, since this was my oversight. ... But read below to see how Certified resolved it for great customer service.

Both jobs were done on Saturday late afternoon. Late Sunday night, I sent Jose my punch list, comments, feedback and observations. His crew was back Monday to fix the minor punch list items, e.g., apply black sealant to some of the brick/flashing seams and nail heads. I thanked Jose for his quick action.

Cricket - Here's where Certified exceed my expectation: Jose had the roofing team install shingles over the metal cricket, exactly as I had envisioned! I think it will perform better for our roof, and it definitely looks better. Very, very satisfied. I told Certified they didn't have to do that, and I greatly appreciated the great customer service and extra touch.

Roofers did great job securing/protecting the unfinished job mid-project with tarps when heavy rain moved in quickly one afternoon.

Another attention to detail item and Certified going out of their way: Our grass cutting company came (as scheduled) during the re-roofing job while the Certified crew was removing the old cedar shake roof. Picture a big tarp on front lawn and a mountain of old roof debris. The Certified guys adjusted their work, moved debris from tarp to truck (non-trivial task), then moved tarp so lawn crew could cut the complete lawn. They didn't have to do that, and I surely noted that attention to detail and extra touch.

Roofing crew did a very thorough clean-up around house at end of ea. day.

On the constructive criticism side for the roofing crew, I provided the following to Certified:

Lots of debris (e.g., plastic nail caps, nails, old roofing material, etc.) fell down the old downspouts. We have several places where downspouts feed into in-ground drain pipes that I can't get to, so I'll probably never be able get all the roofing debris out of those below-ground drain pipes. Suggestion: (1) block the downspouts with rags to prevent debris from falling into downspouts; and (2) have the gutter/downspout crew (if doing both jobs) point a powerful leaf blower into one end of the in-ground drain pipe to blow out any roofing debris ... before they install the new downspouts into the in-ground drain pipes.
Roof crew spilled some kind of substance on a few small patches of grass and killed it. It may have been gasoline.
Gutters/Downspouts

Did great work. New gutters/downspouts look great.

Certified did a good job expanding the deck cutouts to the minimum size for the new, larger downspouts. There was another place in the deck they needed to make a small cut for the new, larger downspouts. They pointed that out and asked my permission before just cutting. Right way to handle it, and I appreciate that.

Certified did a very good job with a gutter & downspout where there previously wasn't one; looks like it has always been there. Roofers didn't install drip guard on this new area, so the gutter/downspout crew did.

Gutter/downspout crew did a thorough clean-up around house after job was done.

On the constructive criticism side for the gutter/downspout crew, I provided the following to Certified:

One of the gutter/downspout crew walked on the brand new ridge caps when he was on the roof. Obviously, it's easier to walk on a flat surface (ridge cap) than the slope of a roof, but we all know ridge caps are not designed to handle the weight/load of an adult.

When the crew placed their ladder against the roof line above the garage (to get onto the roof) they made no accommodation for the ~½" shingle overhang, thus putting tremendous weight/stress on the shingles underneath the sides of ladder. I bent the shingles back into place; no permanent damage. I contrast that with the roofers who leaned the ladder against a bundle of shingles placed strategically on the roof to bear the weight of the ladder and avoid damage to the installed shingle overhang. Smart.

Bottom line: Very satisfied with Certified Inc's performance and our new roof, gutters and downspouts. I recommend them and would work with them again.

Certified Incorporated installed a new roof on our house in a highly professional way. Their expert crew accomplished the job in 11/2 days. They took care to cover bushes, etc. that could have been damaged during the work. They also cleaned up promptly. We chose them from a review from our neighbor and we received an excellent, detailed explanation of the job from the owner. I highly recommend them!

Certified Incorporated repalced my home roofing,
but they charged extra amount whch is not acceptable.
They replaced my home roofing on April 8th ,a month ago.They also replaced some of 1"x6",1"x8", plywood before roofing material installed.
It will be extra cost me under the contract.
However it came out $ 3,321.00 extra charge me.
I was home at the time when they worked on.
I didn't see they used that many material.
For example,they charge me 15 peices of plywood,
I saw the plywood 3 or 4 pieces replaced.
they showed me their invoices which their worker
picked up from their supplier.three different invoice is showing 4,4,12 which is total 20 peices.They are charging 15 pieces.
they also showed me 3 pictures which is same spot
with three diffrent direction.
I went to my attic look at through ,finally I can see 3-4 pieces only.
I need to inspect third party or honest person look and find out all of material used.
I already paid $ 36,560.00 right after work finished.They asked remaining the balance $3,321.

From providing a quote to the finished product Certified was extremely professional. Our roofing project began on time and was completed early. Roofers were careful in moving debris on a daily basis, used certified cedar shingles and provided quality work. Although it has only been a few weeks, we are pleased with our new roof.

I had the flat roof on my semi detached house in Washington DC replaced by Certified, Inc.
I really appreciated the professionalism of both the owner's explanation of the estimate, process and materials to be used and the behavior of the foreman and his team on-site. The process of replacing my roof was more involved than anticipated and additional repairs had to be done. It is a noisy process but the team took care of the striping off of two previous roofs as efficiently as possible. The mishap of a hole through the ceiling was taken care of seamlessly. The team cleaned up the yard and put things back in the right place.
I am confident that I have a solid roof with the appropriate technology now installed.
