Classic Communities Corporation Reviews (42)

Review: Builder of my home has refused to abide by both its written and verbal contracts. The screens on all of my windows slide from side to side; the builder has not provided top soil, rough grade, fine grade, seeding and stabilization for my property; did not extend driveway, or correct electrical switches, or properly handled the swale in the back of my house which is causing a runoff to the front of my house.Desired Settlement: Fix the above stated problems.

I am rejecting this response because:

Classic Communities has refused to abide by the contract regarding the landscaping; the issue regarding the trees is unresolved, and the other issues are to be addressed on September 18, 2013.

Response:

We've actually gone well above contract and stepped outside of warranty in correcting these items.

The screens are within tolerance and are not tight so they can be easily removed. This is not a defect but a manufacturer standard. I've asked the window rep to contact the buyer and offer explanation.

The topsoil was on the lot since we dug the hole and was spread and seeded as per our agreement. It actually costs more to have topsoil trucked out and removed. I've attached a picture of the yard that shows nice, green grass growth. I've also attached our lawn maintenance agreement signed by the buyer. As a courtesy, we did a light rake and overseeded the buyer's lot on Fr[redacted]y 10/4/13 as promised earlier.

The driveway was extended significantly. Attached is a plot plan showing the designed size and a picture showing the enlargement.

The electrical switches were not faulty but wired to operate buyer supplied fan remotes. They were re-wired to work off the switches as per the buyer's request.

There is a swale that carries water under the road and into Penndot's right of way above the buyers property. The runoff is from offsite and Penndot would not respond as it is their pipe.We are in the process of fixing this swale.

The trees the buyer is referring to are not on this lot and considered resolved.

Hopefully we can bring this to closure.

Sincerely,

Dir. of Construction

Hi [redacted]!

Thanks for the email. I got an update from our Director of Construction saying that she gave hima hug today and he felt things were wrapped up but I am going to have them give a better/more formal response to this email. Thanks!

> The screens are defective. I have had a reputable window company representative to look at the screens. The representative informed me that the window screens are in fact defective (improperly fitted) for the window. More specifically, the windows are 1/8 inch too small in width. Additionally, he stated that there should have been a seal around the window screens. I have attached a copy of a picture showing the numerous bugs and spider webs that have come in through the screens (between the window and the screen, attachment 1).

This is what should have been done to the entire property, but was not, and this is what I am asking for. Further, the ground is green in certain places, but it is NOT green grass (see attachment 3).

In that email he stated, “Dead trees (see attachment 4). I agreed that the dead one should come down, however, I still can’t claim ownership. I’m gonna go out on a limb (fitting phrase) and have the dead one taken down as I believe it poses a liability issue.” While [redacted] is now stating the tree issue is resolved, I beg to differ. It will not be resolved until he does what he said he would do, i.e., remove the dead tree.

I am rejecting this response because: I implore the Revdex.com to send a representative to look at the screens in my house.

It does not require an expert to see that the window screens are not properly fitted. Window screens are to keep

I bought a house in Trindle springs at Mechanicsburg PA. The whole corporation is Fraud. They sell you the cheapest homes that you ever imagine. Maintenance and Warranty is a Joke. I cannot emphasize more on this. Any potential buyers please be cautioned, if you signing a contract with them, you are singing your death warrant too. Don’t even talk to them, it’s not worth it.
