Got over on me
Clean Choice Energy is s scam! Thought I was doing the right thing by wanting to leave a "cleaner footprint." They played my desire for "clean energy," tricking me into thinking I was helping the environment by going with them. Said my bill stay about the same, but it slowly crept up until it is 3 times higher! Clean Choice Energy is an unethical organization, a parasite hurting society. I canceled, but they tied me into 2 more billing cycles, squeezing every last red cent they can get from me. For a small one-bedroom apartment, just me here, and I'm gone working all day, up $155 a month. Used to pay $50 with RG&E. I feel completely disgusted and will never forget how I got cheated by a bunch of shysters preying on my desire for a cleaner environment..

Do not use Cleanchoice
I would like to give -5 star. They sent a letter to my address and the letter read like ConEd. It said there would be no extra cost to enrolling in their service. So I did for clean air. However, there unit price is way higher than ConEd itself and kept increasing monthly with a recent price of 50 Cents/kWh comparing with ConEd's 15 cents/kWh. This price is probably the highest in the market when check the market price information on New York gov site. When I called ConEd and was given the cost if I were with ConEd, and my total cost doubled compared with ConEd. I paid thousands of dollar more. I called CleanChoice and they were not willing to cancel my service and offered 17 cents/kWh. I do not want to deal with this Scam company and declined! Now I switched back to ConEd and my bill should reduced half next billing cycle. I want clean air but definitely not with CleanChoice. It was a purely scam from the beginning. DO NOT USE CleanChoice!

NOT an honest company to the customer
I got a mail from Clean Choice 3 months ago that promoted to use the clean energy for no increasing current rate. Of course, I signed it up without doing the research of the reviews. I had been charged $0.178 for 1000KWH, and my previous supplier's rat was $0.09 at that time. My monthly usage bills had been doubled. I cancelled and switched back to my previous supplier. Don't like the clean choice energy, the way they mislead and fooled people. Also, their team always respond to the bad reviews said that thanks for the valued feedback to make their service better. However, they do not change, do not fix the problem, ONLY WORDS, NO ACTION. Really, it is not just about the high cost, it is about the honor system!

Bait and Switch
They promised reasonable rates, then suddenly I was paying 3X the going rate (36 cents/kwH vs. 12 cents). Summer electric bills were 3X higher than ever - I live in the same house for 40 years...never had an electric bill even close. $1000 for July and August. After cancelling, they are sending me offers to come back...sheesh.

Money Grabbing Liars
They don't deserve even one star, 10 rotten tomatoes would be more appropriate. Pitch sounded good... save significantly over Duke prices, save the environment..initially. Three years later, I was hit with a $1,161 bill and my even billing dramatically rose from $140/month to $285/month. I live in a very SMALL 3 BR apt with no change in utility usage. My husband lives in a 10 room house and his utility bills are not even close to what I have been charged. In 2021, I had a credit for one month because over the course of the year, I used less than projected electricity usage. Back to the outrageous bill...Upon further inspection and 3-way calls with Duke and CleanChoice, discovered that CleanChoice raised their price per KWH to 0.24 whereas Duke's cost per KWH was 0.6. Received NO notification of price increases. CleanChoice is raking in the bucks while hiding behind an altruistic "save the environment" sales pitch. Save your money and ;avoid at all costs.

31 cents per KWH!
Price gouging plain and simple. This at least 5 times the rate I was paying before switching over to CleanChoice in DC. Will quickly do what is necessary to remove myself from CC.

TERRIBLE /DECEPTIVE
Charged us a comparable rate to my local provider for 2 months then doubled my rate to over $0.16 per Kwh. Too me three month to realize before cancelling! Terrible company sends out letters with warning in bold letters to deceive you into thinking you have to switch providers, my elderly mother fell for it.

Seems like a scam to me
Signed up over two years ago. Monthly bills seemed normal and they sent a monthly EMail with data as to how much "Clean" energy I used each month. Over last year bills keep increasing every month. Now over 3 times as much as originally. I am going to contact them and get out of contract ASAP. Word of warning to others considering them.

Waste of Money, I wish I could give ZERO STARS!
Writing this lengthy review because I need for the potential customers to know how much of a SCAM this company is!

I received a mailer from CleanChoice back in 2020 stating that if I signed up it would be a few dollars more on my bill, but at least it would be for 'clean' energy and not Duke's 'dirty' energy (citation needed). I didn't mind and signed up. In the beginning it was fine, just $70 more, but then in the middle of a cold winter and the pandemic, all of a sudden, my bills went from 170 here or 200 there, to now 300... 400... 500...600!

I had to dipped into my savings, and my fiance's savings, and get on a budget plan just to keep Duke from cutting off my utilities! Finally, I called Duke and they made me realize the culprit was under my nose all along, Clean - Conjob - Choice!

I called the number on the bill (because they never sent any information to me!) and called and asked why on earth am I losing so much money!? The customer service rep finally informed me, that the CleanChoice mailer I signed was 'variable', and echoed what is basically CleanChoice's motto for why they are so crappy: VaRiAbLe RaTeS ArE SuBjEcT tO FlUcTuCuAtIoNs In MaRkEt PrIcEs!

After cancelling, I went to my email to review my contract to see where in it was it Variable, only to realize that CleanChoice never sent me a copy of my contract, and I called them back to get a copy, and encountered customer service SO awful I was happy to be put back on hold for so long! When I finally escaped the phone and got a copy of my terms and conditions, I saw that they had me in a fixed rate plan for ONE month and then variable for the rest of the contract, UNHEARD OF! Meanwhile, they never even sent me an actual copy of my alleged contract with them; what kind of company doesn't immediately give their customers a copy of a contract they have with them!? Clearly a company that has something to hide!

Word of advice to new and current customers - RUN!

Word of advice to CleanChoice - you can try to cover your behinds now with offering fixed rate plans now from the start, but all of us who were taken advantage of remember

To other victims: keep records of everything! Log a complaint to your local attorney general and look up 'cleanchoice class action suit'!

Ethical Electric is a great solution for those people looking to have their voice heard on where they want their power to come from Not everyone can drop a windmill in their backyard or put solar panels on their one bedroom apartment, and this is where Ethical Electric comes inIf you're like me, you rarely even look at your electric bill, but it's nice knowing it's coming from renewable sources and pushing our society to make the switch They're also pretty cool people all around and really are there to make a differenceSide note: They give you a $credit if you use the code "Ethical50"Hope this helps you with your choice and hopefully they keep expanding and doing their thing!

Sales representative said the rate would not exceed my local utility's rate with in the first months, however the rate jumped, almost doubling, after one billing cycle I called to ask what happened and the representative said that there is only one month at the local rate and that I could lock in at a rate lower than the billed but still higher than the local company for months Cancelled them that day but still had to wait the billing cycle for them to transfer me back I never received a notice of cancellation in the mail from them Several weeks after I was back with my local company their retention dept began to call me every business day, sometimes more than once a day I have repeatedly asked them to stop contacting me Today when I told the rep that called that I have asked several times for them to stop contacting me she told me "well there are multiple suppliers in your area" and as I started to respond she hung up This company is shady at best
