Closing the account for commercial use was not done arbitrarily.  The complainant signed a car dealership subscription contract with CARFAX under the name [redacted] Auto Broker.  The complainant later canceled that account and purchased a consumer account providing all the same contact information that was listed on the dealership contract, including the name of "[redacted] Auto Broker."  The account will not be reactivated nor refunded by CARFAX.  The customer may file a charge dispute with his bank.  CARFAX considers this matter resolved.

In the product selection box on the CARFAX order page, it states, "Unlimited CARFAX Reports only $54.99, Unlimited Reports by U.S. License Plate Valid for 60 Days."  This is because the plan us unlimited using the license plate.  This is also mentioned in the Customer Agreement on the...

order page, on the order confirmation page, in the receipt email, and from within the account.  CARFAX has not received an email from the email address provided, [redacted].COM, however contact our customer support team to discuss adding VIN searches or a refund is simple.  Just click the help button at the top or bottom of any page to contact us.

The information cannot be removed.  The customer will need to unsubscribe if they no longer wish to receive emails.

This was resolved directly with the customer on January 26, 2018, via email.

CARFAX resolved this directly with the customer on 7/24/2015 and sent the below email response:Good Morning [redacted], Thank you for contacting CARFAX and for bringing the odometer discrepancy to my attention. I see your documentation shows that the reading is reflecting accurately on the report, per...

the Inspection Stations' records. However, using the progression of about 5,000 miles a year the vehicle going from 55,578 to 84,093 in 14 months is unreasonable. Based on this I was happy to remove the mileage reading from the Vehicle History Report as requested. I recently sent you a separate email with a 14-day link to access and print the updated CARFAX Vehicle History Report. Please allow about 15-20 minutes for the update to process and reflect on the report. Please let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything further I can do to help. Thank you so much for allowing me the opportunity to work with you, it was my pleasure and I hope you have a wonderful day

The repair order, as well as the email from the body shop, conclude that repairs were made to the vehicle's apron and rail.  The manufacturer of the vehicle, [redacted], considers these components to be structural in nature.  The email from the shop does not specifically state that the...

repairs were not structural in nature, only that they make sure the structure is properly repaired before leaving their shop.  CARFAX is not stating that the vehicle currently as unrepaired structural damage; rather, the date source reported to CARFAX that the vehicle did sustain structural damage and had structural repairs, which has been confirmed by the repair order according to the specifications of the vehicle's manufacturer.

I am not sure what the complainant means by "Carfax is stating now, that they had No information to begin with of structural damage to my car."  The facts are this.  Structural damage is reported for this vehicle by the data source.  When the data was reviewed, structural damage was confirmed.  Therefore, structural damage will continue to be displayed on the CARFAX Report and we consider this matter resolved.  Should the complainant in the future wish to produce a copy of the appraisal in support of his claim, we will be happy to review it.

If the vehicle owner truly believes these records are incorrect, they must contact the shop that reported the records to have them corrected.  Once corrected, the customer can submit a Data Research Request form (http://[redacted]) and submit to us a letter from the shop explaining how the incorrect records came to be reported on this vehicle.  Otherwise, the vehicle owner should contact their local police authorities.

I am rejecting this response because:Whatever is it, when a person buys a car from a dealer , he never goes for a third party inspection because the dealer won't allow that.My point is just that - I paid more money for this car.Anyways, am going to lodge a complaint with the State Attorney General today to see what best can be done.
Someone has to own for the monetary loss that I have suffered for this.
If that's not going to help, I will discuss this case with an attorney and take it to the small claims court as I have both the copies of the Carfax reports.

CARFAX does not charge anything to contact us.  Please see our Help Center.  http://support.carfax.com.The CARFAX Report did not state that there were "no collisions".  The CARFAX Report would state, accurately and factually, that no accidents or damage have been reported to CARFAX.  The CARFAX Report also states:"This CARFAX Vehicle History Report is based only on information supplied to CARFAX and available as of [the date and time of the Report]. Other information about this [vehicle], including problems, may not have been reported to CARFAX. Use this report as one important tool, along with a vehicle inspection and test drive, to make a better decision about buying your next used car.""Not all accidents / issues are reported to CARFAX""No accidents or damage reported to CARFAX.""CARFAX DEPENDS ON ITS SOURCES FOR THE ACCURACY AND RELIABILITY OF ITS INFORMATION. THEREFORE, NO RESPONSIBILITY IS ASSUMED BY CARFAX OR ITS AGENTS FOR ERRORS OR OMISSIONS IN THIS REPORT."It is made extremely clear on the CARFAX Report that just because no accidents were reported to CARFAX does not mean that no accidents have occurred, and therefore the vehicle should be taken for a pre-purchase vehicle inspection and thorough test drive before deciding to buy it.  With billions of vehicle history records reported from over 92,000 data sources, CARFAX is a great resource for used vehicle history information, but as the CARFAX Report says, not everything gets reported to us.

CARFAX does not "advertise that they have accurate up to date and are the Best."  Every CARFAX Report states that not all information, including problems, are reported to us, and therefore recommends a pre-purchase vehicle inspection and test drive to assess the vehicle's condition and check...

for prior damage severity and hidden repairs.  The CARFAX Vehicle History Report did notify the customer at the time of her purchase that the vehicle had been severely damaged in accident, deploying the airbag and requiring the car to be towed.  The vehicle still has a clean title, and therefore the CARFAX Buyback Guarantee does not apply.

CARFAX could not find a record of being contact by the provided email address, [redacted].net.  If the customer could please provide the VIN, our support team will be happy to review what information we have.

CARFAX sent the customer the following email on 2/23/2015:Hi [redacted], I just heard back and was able to remove the Total Loss from the report as requested! I recently sent you a separate email with a 14-day link to access and print the updated CARFAX Vehicle History Report. Please allow...

The account manager left a voicemail with [redacted] explaining that the August payment was received and is in process of being posted to the account.  Any other questions should be addressed to the account manager.

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because I DID contact the customer team, and all they offered were a few more VIN Reports.  Moreover, had they clearly stated this "unlimited" plan was for license plates only, I would not have made this purchase back in January since their competitor Autocheck, offers an unlimited VIN # plan for less cost.  Instead, they market 3 options all appearing the same with the only difference being the # of reports.  This was not true, and I complained to them directly, and they did not honor my refund request, so I continued to take it further by first filing a complaint with [redacted], which Carfax did not honor either.  I then complained to my credit card company which they again, they did not support.  I then filed a complaint with the North Carolina Department of Justice Consumer Protection Division, and once again was denied.  Now I am filing a complaint with the Revdex.com because I cannot believe I'm the only one duped by this company who flat out refuses to admit they've made any mistake whatsoever, and what they are doing is even legal. On a side note, in the 15 years I've experienced issues with any company, only 1 other one refused to negotiate a resolution with a state's Attorney General if it ever got that far, and I'm happy to report they are no longer in business.  Thisi company will hopefully be the second one.

CARFAX has billions of vehicle history records received from over 91,000 sources.  CARFAX receives millions of new records every day and is valuable resource when buying, selling, owning, and maintaining used cars.  However, not all sources report to CARFAX.  Therefore, a CARFAX...

Vehicle History Report will state that no accidents have been reported to CARFAX, but that not all information, including problems, are reported to CARFAX, and therefore the vehicle should be thoroughly inspected for prior damage before making a purchase decision.  CARFAX never advertises that it has all information, and always recommends a pre-purchase vehicle inspection and thorough test drive.
