I am not sure what the complainant means by "Carfax is stating now, that they had No information to begin with of structural damage to my car." The facts are this Structural damage is reported for this vehicle by the data source When the data was reviewed, structural damage was confirmed Therefore, structural damage will continue to be displayed on the CARFAX Report and we consider this matter resolved Should the complainant in the future wish to produce a copy of the appraisal in support of his claim, we will be happy to review it

This was resolved directly with the customer on January 26, 2018, via email

CARFAX can only report what has been reported to it by data sources The CARFAX Report states that damage was reported to CARFAX, which is correct CARFAX relies on its sources for the accuracy and completeness of its information Every CARFAX Report states this, and thus recommends a pre-purchase vehicle inspection to check for hidden damage and prior repairs CARFAX research concludes that the damage record is reported correctly and therefore cannot be removed from the CARFAX Report, nor can we provide any details because that information is confidential and proprietary

This is also outlined in the Customer Agreement, to which the customer agreed and accepted before placing his three orders for the Unlimited License Plate plan The purchases were on August 2, 2016, October 9, 2016, and March 16, The details of the plan were also provided to the complainant after each purchase on the purchase confirmation page, the receipt email, and within the account Further, the customer contacted CARFAX several times, was told on five separate occasions that the plan is unlimited using the U.Slicense plate, and he confirmed that he understood each time The details of those five conversations are listed below Lastly, the CARFAX Money Back Guarantee states that a refund is only issued if two or fewer CARFAX Reports have been run, but this account has run CARFAX Reports and therefore does not qualify for a refund.The complainant contacted CARFAX on August 4, and was told: "I apologize for any inconvenience, CARFAX is currently not offering unlimited searches by VINOur records show you have purchased our Day Unlimited search by U.S Plates and VINs accountHowever, as a one time courtesy for this purchased only, I can add extra VINs for you to use before your account expires on 10-02-And if you find that you need more before it expires, you can contact us back and we will be happy to see if we can add more."The complainant contacted CARFAX again on October 19, and was told: "The package is unlimited by license plate searches for days, but I understand if the VINs aren't enoughHow many do you think you'll need for the package to be useful to you? Sure I'll be happy to add for youI appreciate your patienceThey're now available and do expire on 12/7/16"The complainant contacted CARFAX again on November 28, and was told: "Okay, I see that you purchased an account on 08/02/and Karen explained that we do not offer unlimited VINs and added Then you purchased on 10/09/knowing that we do not offer unlimited VINS and Justin added CARFAX do not offer or advertise for unlimited VINsAs a final courtesy I have added I am sorry that we will not be able to add any more after thisIf you decide to repurchase the package that you purchase it what you would be able to access."The complainant contacted CARFAX again on February 2, and was told: "Our records actually show that your purchased expired back on 12-09-As a one time courtesy, I will reactivate the remaining Reports for another days."The complainant contacted CARFAX again on May 2, and was told: "I have located your account and our records show you have purchased our Day Unlimited search by U.S Plates and VIN accountI am sorry but since we have added extra VINs as courtesy since it appears that you were not aware that we do not offer Unlimited searches by VINHowever, we cannot add any more as it was a one time courtesy offer It is unlimited by Plate and you still have access to plate until 05-16-Our records show the Report were run by VINI am sorry but our records show that [another CARFAX representative] also explain she only add last and we cannot add moreI am sorryI am sorry [redacted] but I have check our records and we have explain different times that we do not offer Unlimited search by VINs as a one time courtesy for that purchase we added extra VINsI have check with management and we cannot add any more VINsWe have been very accommodating however unlimited VINs is not something we offerI am sorrywe have assisted you by adding extra Report even after explaining to you that we do not offer Unlimited report by VIN and on each chat, you have says okay Thank you."CARFAX does not offer or advertise unlimited CARFAX Reports by VIN The CARFAX order page states, "Unlimited Reports by U.SLicense Plate / Valid for Days." [To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the responseIf no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered] Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:CarFax reports are misleading at best If CarFax does not know if the vehicle has been in any collisions, they should state so in the body of their report Instead they listed on my report zero collisions This vehicle had front end collision when the original owner hit a deer The original owner also said the vehicle was rear ended.He had both repairs made at reputable companies and has claim numbers for both.If CarFax is not going to investigate for the truth, a small disclaimer is not acceptable for them to clearly state in the body of their report zero collisions.I will run an ad in the local newspaper and also look across the web to report their deceitfulness Businesses boast CarFax reports when CarFax is nothing more than a scam.My complaint should be made public so others will not rely on CarFax reports for the truth.I was talking to a friend about CarFax last night and she said she thought they were to be reputable but they aren’t worth the words written on paper.Others should know My complaint is valid and should be published out of respect of others who are purchasing a vehicle and relying on CarFax for truth and not a disclaimer that says nothing they report has to be truth.I feel like crying I depended on Carfax for an honest report only to find after purchasing my vehicle it had both front and rear end collisions This is not right!Regards, [redacted]

CARFAX requested a copy of the repair order from the insurance company, but they would not release to us because we are not the insured On July 14, 2015, requested a copy of the repair order from the customer but to date no repair order or appraisal has been received To continue to dispute the record, the customer must provide a copy of the appraisal to the resolution manager handling their case and we will be happy to reopen the case

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the responseIf no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because I DID contact the customer team, and all they offered were a few more VIN Reports Moreover, had they clearly stated this "unlimited" plan was for license plates only, I would not have made this purchase back in January since their competitor Autocheck, offers an unlimited VIN # plan for less cost Instead, they market options all appearing the same with the only difference being the # of reports This was not true, and I complained to them directly, and they did not honor my refund request, so I continued to take it further by first filing a complaint with [redacted] , which Carfax did not honor either I then complained to my credit card company which they again, they did not support I then filed a complaint with the North Carolina Department of Justice Consumer Protection Division, and once again was denied Now I am filing a complaint with the Revdex.com because I cannot believe I'm the only one duped by this company who flat out refuses to admit they've made any mistake whatsoever, and what they are doing is even legal.On a side note, in the years I've experienced issues with any company, only other one refused to negotiate a resolution with a state's Attorney General if it ever got that far, and I'm happy to report they are no longer in business Thisi company will hopefully be the second one Regards, [redacted]

There is no open recall reported to CARFAX for the vehicle about which the customer wrote into us The CARFAX Report does not state that the accident cost over $500, only that a police report was filed by the police department indicating that the vehicle was involved in an accident While Florida police reports are required if the damage is over $500, they can also be written for other reasons and lower damage amounts The accident record states "Accident reported/Involving left side impact/Functional damage reported" If the customer believes the police officer listed his vehicle in error, he will have to take that up with the [redacted] *** Police Department, report number [redacted]
