Colorado Frame Company Reviews (484)

CARFAX requested a copy of the repair order from the insurance company, but they would not release to us because we are not the insured.  On July 14, 2015, requested a copy of the repair order from the customer but to date no repair order or appraisal has been received.  To continue to...

dispute the record, the customer must provide a copy of the appraisal to the resolution manager handling their case and we will be happy to reopen the case.

All of these questions have already been addressed.  The damage to the structure was visible without the need to remove any panels or other components.  The structural damage is verified and cannot be removed from the CARFAX.

I am rejecting this...

response because:Date: Sat, Sep 17, 2016 at 8:14 AMSubject: complaint [redacted]To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> To Whom it May Concern I just received an email stating that this was closed. I responded to the original complaint that I knew the Mashpee Police reported the accident However I wanted to know who reported it to Carfax two years later and a month after we purchased the car. The response was that the police dept reported the accident which I also rejected and was under the assumption you would have noted from the previous answer from CARFAX was not acceptable. I do not want this issue closed. If there is something else I need to do I would like to know what it is. Regards[redacted]

It appears that the complainant is suggesting that the problem was caused by a correctable failure on CARFAX's part, and that CARFAX does not work to improve its efficiency and accuracy.  The CARFAX Vehicle History Report is constantly being updated with millions of new vehicle history records every day, and we work tirelessly to make our data as accurate as we can.  Every CARFAX Report states that it can only report what has been reported to it, and that ownership information can only be estimated, to comply with privacy laws.  When asked to verify information reported to us, we work as quickly as we can to verify it.  In most cases, but not all, this can be done quickly - it depends on the DMV's turnaround time to get back to us.  Again, I apologize (directed to the complainant) that we could not resolve this sooner and that the DMV could not get us the information we needed more quickly.

The terms of the contract state: Initial Term: Contract Date to...

6/30/2016Renewal Term: Renews annually after initial termCancellation Clause: You may cancel with 30 days prior written notice before any renewal date. The cancelation request was submitted in August, 2016, which is before 30 days prior to the renewal date of 6/30/2017.  A new contract with lower pricing was signed and accepted by CARFAX, effective 11/1/2016.  Therefore, per the contract, the customer is still responsible for the contract monthly fees leading up to 11/1/2016, and the fees of the new contract from 11/1/2016 until 4/30/2017.  The new contract will renew on 4/30/2017, which means the customer must submit their cancelation request in writing prior to 3/30/2017 in order to cancel the current contract. Best regards, Vince L

The CARFAX Vehicle History Report is a dynamic service that is updated regularly with information received from current and new data sources. Sources of accident data are not required to report information to our company, so the reporting of events is based on a source's willingness to participate...

with us and when they begin providing information to us thereafter. Since not all accident sources provide information to CARFAX, we continuously contract with new data sources for historical events in addition to receiving additional records from our existing sources that can date back several years. We understand your concerns regarding the timing involved but despite our best efforts, sources can take up to several years before agreeing to supply their data while others may never report information to CARFAX. When we receive new information from participating sources, we work as quickly as possible to update the information on our report.
Our company never promises consumers that it has a complete product, but, rather, mentions that is based solely on information supplied to us. Every report suggests using our service as one important tool along with a physical inspection in the car buying process. Since not all accident and damage sources report their information to CARFAX, we do not guarantee accident and damage records therefore we do not offer compensation for missing accident and damage records.
On Every CARFAX Report it states, “This CARFAX Vehicle History Report is based only on information supplied to CARFAX and available as of [the date and time the Report is generated]. Other information about this vehicle, including problems, may not have been reported to CARFAX. Use this report as one important tool, along with a vehicle inspection and test drive, to make a better decision about your next used car.” This is located at the top of every Report in regular text. Each CARFAX Report also states, “Not all accidents / issues are reported to CARFAX,” as well as “CARFAX DEPENDS ON ITS SOURCES FOR THE ACCURACY AND RELIABILITY OF ITS INFORMATION. THEREFORE, NO RESPONSIBILITY IS ASSUMED BY CARFAX OR ITS AGENTS FOR ERRORS OR OMISSIONS IN THIS REPORT.”
If the customer would like to dispute the accident record or request further details as to what happened, the customer can fill out a consumer data correction form and the accident record will be researched.
The consumer data correction form is located here: http://support.carfax.com/c_datarequest

A police department reported an accident to CARFAX.  The CARFAX Report is accurately reflecting the details reported, specifically that the vehicle was struck in the rear while in a parking lot.  If the complainant believes the police report is in error, he will need to take that up with...

the reporting police department, The Omaha Police Department, agency case number [redacted].

I am rejecting this response because: The whole point of my complaint is that the 69 "unlimited" purchase is not unlimited. If you are buying a car from a dealership, there are no license plates. You can't search a vehicle by license plate because there aren't any. So the "unlimited searches" option is false advertising. I want my full purchase price back. If I had realized all I could search was 5 vin numbers, I would have never used carfax to begin with. I would have used another service.

There is no open recall reported to CARFAX for the vehicle about which the customer wrote into us.  The CARFAX Report does not state that the accident cost over $500, only that a police report was filed by the police department indicating that the vehicle was involved in an accident. ...

While Florida police reports are required if the damage is over $500, they can also be written for other reasons and lower damage amounts.  The accident record states "Accident reported/Involving left side impact/Functional damage reported".  If the customer believes the police officer listed his vehicle in error, he will have to take that up with the [redacted] Police Department, report number [redacted]

An accident was reported to CARFAX by the police department for the customer's vehicle.  The customer provided a copy of the police report verifying that CARFAX's record was correct.

I am rejecting this response because:
If you do not have the ability to give a complete history on a vehicle you should not be providing any information. Because of your poor business practices you hurt consumers by devaluing their vehicles by submitting past information. Regards,

CARFAX does not offer or advertise unlimited CARFAX Reports by VIN.  The plan on the CARFAX order page states "Unlimited Reports by U.S. License Plate."  Directly below that, in the same size and color font, it states "Valid for 60 Days."  Thus, if the complainant saw that it was...

valid for 60 days, he also must have seen that it was unlimited using the license plate.  This is also stated within the Customer Agreement, the order confirmation page, the receipt email, and within the account.  I am sorry if the customer did not understand the details of the purchase, but CARFAX was upfront about what the plan entails.  On May 10, 2017, in response to the complainant's email into our customer support team, a full refund was issued for $74.61.
