I don't even have an account or a loan with them and they keep calling me and leaving voicemails. I have never heard of them until they started harassing me.

I went to a third party loan facility called *** where they did not explain exactly what the loan was and entailed. Once I was approved for the loan and received mail from the company I found that I had opened a line of credit worth more than the loan with interest and collateral that they held. After making the payment of the loan the third party company *** was extremely rude and nasty to myself as I did not want to return to any of their stores. When asking what can I do to get out the contract they stated nothing and preceeded with you signed the papers. I called *** to close the account after the full payment posted they stated I needed to pay an additional $175 to end the contract as that is the interest fee, but like I stated I paid the loan in full. They also do not allow a wait to receive a check via mail and take the payment out of your account without your knowledge or no warning. This company has been very rude, nasty and deceiving. When I called I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told theyre all in a meeting and if I want to speak to another representative theyre going to tell me the same thing.

I went here as I use to before for a pay day loan and they said we only offer lines of credit now. I said ok so I borrow $100 dollars to have to turn around and pay then entire amount that you were approved for even though you didn't borrow the whole amount. Who the *** does that and on top of that wants you to pay to close it out to no longer use their services they want another$100 close to 200 to get you out of my life. I will never borrow from this place anymore so I see they are creating a lot of enemies and no longer customer's. I called because I paid thee amount to later receive the call that I still owed more money even though you paid your debt. I'm so done and again I called them and I said why would I pay something that I never even received. I doesn't make since and should be ILLEGAL!!!

I came into *** on January 3, 2020 to get a payday loan. She, Shena, said I qualified for a loan of $300.00 and that I would have to pay $348.00 back on February 3,2020. I was sick and did not get back to pay that loan off until February 26, 2020. I then called and asked what my payoff was so I could close this account out. I was then told that my payoff amount was now $357.85 and I had incurred 2 late fees of $16.26 each($35.52). So I said if I bring you $393.37 it would pay off my account. She then informed me that there was an additional Line of credit fee of $150.00 annually and a Credit investigation fee of $10.00 which brought my total payback to a whopping $563.41. I advised her that I only requested a payday loan. She then informed me that they don't do payday loans and that all the fees she listed has to be paid before I could close this account. I am an elderly woman on Social Security. I cannot afford all these hidden cost. This is a big RIPOFF. Help

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because
Regards, I didn't request a line of credit, I requested a one time payday loan. Which in the past I just paid the $50 fee with the loan amount. Also, $208 is excessive and I feel *** is predatory. I am disabled on social security. They are taking advantage of me.

This company randomly charged my account for $86.04, and I have no idea why I was charged this amount, nor did I authorize this charge, and received no notice of being charged for this amount.

On December 26, 2019 I went to this location to receive a payday advancement loan. The cashier told me that I could qualify for what they call a " line of credit". I was told that it works just like a payday loan the only difference is I could qualify for a higher loan. The max amount of a payday loan is $300.00, a line of credit can give you up to $700.00. I only qualified for $300.00. What the cashier did not tell me was that I would have to pay interest on this " line of credit" for the next year whether I take out a loan with them or not! Now I am being harassed all day with phone calls from this company telling me they are going to report this to the credit bureau and this is going to affect my credit score. Why should I pay a fee for a year when I already paid my loan back on the date it was due. And why aren't these cashiers trained to explain the whole expectations of the agreement.

I am rejecting this response because: The cashiers need to be trained to let customers know that theres a fee fir the next year after taking out this loan. They are clearly hiding this information regarding this additional fee for a reason. My decision to opt out of this was taken when that piece of information was not disclosed.

gave my debt to *** which I understand is Crestline financial as well which upon further research is *** that is the registered Ohio name. That should cause quite a concern within itself why does this company have so many names? They called me on Feb 8 once and I was planning on returning the call and handling the situation but they took money out of my account without my permission on Feb 14th. I'm confused as to how they can do that as a debt collector without informing me first. I got an alert and that's how I found out that my money was gone. I called and the representative was rude and not knowledgeable but this goes back to the shadiness of *** employees when *** came and took over not being trained on the information or what to tell consumers.Literally just stealing the money and say well you knew. It has to be something so consumers don't feel disadvantaged when dealing with the shadiness of these type of companies. How can a person pay off a loan with the fees and then turn around 2 months later and be told there are more fees to be paid. It is wrong morally and bad business practices.

I reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find the resolution is satisfactory to me.

I had to get a loan to pay for medical bills and prescriptions. I went to Crestline finance to get a loan for $300 to cover the bills. I told them that I receive my *** check on the second Wednesday of the month. I told them I would have the money deposited into my account on 2/12/2020. I went to the bank to get some money for other bills and my account was overdrawn!!! I went back to Crestline finance and told them they drew the money on the WRONG day. They drew the money out on 2/8/2020. I went back to tell them that and asked if the could return/reverse the money withdrawal so I would not be negative causing some possible checks to bounce. I told them I already have to pay an overdraft from *** I was told they didn't do that, even with it being their mistake!!! They told me I could get another loan for 400 to take to the bank and deposit to cover any outstanding checks. I fell for it again. Then they told me that I have all theses extra fees (SCAMS) I would need to pay. I then asked her when the next payment was due. She gives me a date for an additional fee due on the 2/22/2020 for $26.53 for some other "scam" charge. She tells me the next payment would be due on 3/8/2020. The two ladies seemed so confused that I decided to call their office. I was told something completely different!!! I was shocked!!!! They told me that the loan for $401 was due 2/22/2020!!!! I told them that I didn't get my *** check till the second week of March!!! I had told them that AGAIN that I DONT GET PAID TILL THE SECOND WEDNESDAY IN MARCH!!! Then the lady I was on the phone seem very confused!!! I have heard different pay schedules from 3 different people. I logged in the website and it was calling for 2/22/2020!!!! instead of the 3/8/2020 for $441.10!!!!! Again they "forget" that I told them I got paid the SECOND WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH!!!!! They have no clue of what their own rules!!!! I told them there was no way I would be able to make the payment and she really could not give a (***)!!!! This place is nothing but a BIG SCAM!!!!!! I will never waste my time again!!!! Report this as one of the BIGGEST SCAMS RUNNING!!!!!

*** (Complainant). Crestline Finance appreciates the role of the Revdex.com in resolving consumer concerns. We are happy to provide this
response. To summarize the complaint, the Complainant states they received a loan
from Crestline Finance for $300.00. The Complainant states the funds were
electronically withdrawn from their account on 02/08/2020. The Complainant
states that this was earlier than they agreed. Also, the Complainant states
that they were told they have to pay fees they were not aware of at the time of
signing. Our records show, that the Complainant agreed to terms of a line of
credit on January 23rd, 2020 with *** d/b/a Crestline Finance.
The terms of the line of credit include an annual fee of $150.00 and credit
investigation fee of $10.00. Customers have the option of paying the full
$160.00 up front at the time of approval, or have the payments broken up into
12 monthly payments of approximately $13.33. As for the electronic funds transfer,
the Complainant agreed to those terms when opening the line of credit. If the
payment is not made on time, the funds will be withdrawn electronically. In
this case the client drew from their line of credit on 01/23/2020 in the amount
of $301.00. They were due to pay the $301.00 back on 02/07/2020 and failed to
do so. The automated system took the funds on 02/08/2020 as they were then
past-due. Crestline Finance is confident that during the application process the
Complainant was made well-aware of the costs and terms associated with this
line of credit, as we have the signed contract on file which states these fees
clearly on page one of the signed document. We hope that we have fully addressed the complaint. Should they or the Revdex.com require further explanation, we may be reached at [email protected].

If you are smart, stay far far away from this company!! They are in the business of ripping you off and not even gracious about it!! I paid the loan off and received a call saying that I had a balance of $144.52 for an annual fee that I was not told about.. Who the heck does that, and the representative I spoke to was the worst, jut like the company she works for!! Very disturbed by the whole thing.

This company is trying to take money out of my account for a service that has been paid for over 6 months. They keep trying to take money over and over. They are scamming people for thousands of dollars.

I applied for a payday loan and paid it off in a week but when I paid the balance off on my payday loan I was told that I will be required to pay an annual line of credit fee of $170, and that it would be broken up to be paid in monthly installments. I have informed the representative at Crestline Financial that I was never informed of this nor did I agree to a line of credit but only a payday loan which I paid it all back in one week. I was also charged an additional $30 on top of what I owed. The payday representative never even mentioned that this was a line of credit until I went to pay it and questioned the extra fees. I brought only what I needed to pay off my loan.
I was told that in order to close this, I would have to pay the full balance of the $170 of which is the total of the monthly charge regardless of if I never get another loan. UNBELIEVABLE HIGHWAY ROBBERY. I was later inform that this was something new but it was never explained to me when I applied for the payday loan. Had I've been made aware, I would've never gotten the loan. Now instead of paying back $330.00 plus the additional fees of $50.00 I now have to pay an extra $170.00!!!!monthly charge.

Yes I did the digital signing but the person at the counter did not elaborate on what I was signing. Such as you are signing for the annual fee, or monthly charge. I was told they got rid of the old way of repaying and you have to pay it on the next pay period because they don’t break it down into payments any more. She did not verbal say to me anything about the annual fee or the monthly payments until I went to pay back the loan. This is a rushed process. “you will see five….. show up on the pad for you to sign and I kept signing thinking it was like it normally was, signing to agree to pay them back, apr, etc but was never told about the other fees.

I had a payday loan paid it off and I'm stilling getting charged monthly fees to keep line of credit open. I don't want the line of credit asked to close and was never closed. Still not closed. I just feel to charge someone a monthly fee of 28 dollars with a 0 balance is a ripoff. youre already paying back double the loan amount. you will end of paying a 1000 for a 300 loan. I called today and they said I have to pay 104 to close the account.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

This is a unfair practice. If a person borrows money pay back with intrest and fees. They should not still be getting billed for a open credit line fee. I borrowed and paid back. Close the account. This is unfair lending. Ive borrowed from checksmart for almost 10 years never had a problem you borrow and payback thats it. Your method is to keep people in debt keep coming back for more. Shame on this company for preying on low income people in need. As if your intrest rate and fees arent enough

Regards

I took out a pay day loan at the local CheckSmart and paid it back within the time allotted. I later found out that there are fees to keep the line of credit open. I told them that I do not want to keep the line of credit open. I was told it would cost $176 to close the line of credit.

I also found out that they will charge me about $34 monthly if not closed out to keep the line of credit open.

I was not made aware of this when taking out the loan. I assumed it was the same as in the past where you pay the loan and you're done.

If not closed, it would be $34.00 per month to keep the line of credit open.

Our records show, that the Complainant agreed to terms of a line of credit on November 3, 2019 with Green Bear Ohio, LLC d/b/a Crestline Finance. The line of credit is for $1,101.00. The Complainant was approved for $501.00, with the remaining $600.00 being placed as collateral in a secure account. Interest is accrued on the account based on the amount borrowed, as well as the collateral. Interest is charged monthly on the account.

Part of the terms of the line of credit is the annual fee of $150.00 and credit investigation fee of $10.00. Customers have the option of paying the full $160.00 up front at the time of approval, or have the payments broken up into 12 monthly payments of approximately $13.33. The full amount of the fees must be paid prior to the line of credit being closed.

Crestline Finance and Check Smart will rip you off! I will never recommend or do business with them again.

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT do any business with this company! By the time you have finished paying them off for a small pay day loan, you will have paid approximately 3 times what you have borrowed. It is cheaper to go to an actual loan shark and probably a ton less stressful! They get you with their fees and then annual fee along with additional 5% to use their money. It is a scam that shouldn't be legal. Oh, and if you don't pay their annual fee after you have paid off the initial loan, you get turned over to a collection agency which will then take the annual fee directly out of your checking account without any warning whatsoever. They will say they have sent you notices, but you will not receive anything. They will fill you full of lies and deceptive practices and you will be out the funds.

They are taking good honest hard workers that try to make a living and sometimes need a little help to the cleaners. I would not advise anyone to go to them. They are horrible.

When I paid the balance off on my payday loan I was told that I will be required to pay an annual line of credit fee of $150 plus $50 renewal fee and that it would be broken up and had to be paid in monthly installments I have informed the representative at crestline financial that I was never informed of this nor did I agree to a line of credit but only a payday loan and which I paid it all back in one payment I was also charged an additional $30 on top of the $331 I wish they could not explain why I was being charged this additional fees.

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the complaint filed by Ms. *** (Complainant). Crestline Finance appreciates the role of the Revdex.com in resolving consumer concerns. We are happy to provide this response.

To summarize the complaint, the Complainant states they paid the balance off for their payday loan. When paying the loan off, the Complainant was advised they would be required to pay an annual fee of $150.00 for a line of credit, plus a $50.00 renewal fee. They were also charged an additional $30.00 on top of the $331.00 which could not be explained. The Complainant was advised the fees could be paid in monthly installments. The Complainant also states they were never advised they agreed to a line of credit.

Our records show, that the Complainant agreed to terms of a line of credit on July 24, 2019 with *** Ohio, LLC d/b/a Crestline Finance. In the agreement, the Annual Fee, also referred as “Membership Fee”, is disclosed. Please refer to the following excerpt from the Complainant’s line of credit agreement:

9. Annual Fees, Late Fees and Other Charges. You will be charged an initial Annual Fee of $150 on the date this Agreement becomes effective and $50 on each anniversary thereof. These fees may be paid in installment Payments if you continue to meet the criteria set forth in Section 1 and Section 4 hereof. In the event that you fail to pay the Minimum Payment Due on or before the tenth (10th) day after the Payment Due Date, you agree to pay us a late charge of $15 or 5% of the Minimum Amount Due--whichever is greater. There is an Initial Credit Investigation fee of $10, which fee shall be paid in monthly increments if you continue to meet the criteria set forth in Section 1 and Section 4.

Crestline Finance is confident that during the application process the Complainant was made well-aware of the costs and terms associated with this loan. As part of the process of requesting a loan, consumers are presented with the contract which must be reviewed before the loan is signed.

Regarding the additional $30 on top of the $331, it appears the complainant is referring to the 10% bill pay fee charged by a third-party payment processer to process payments made at the distributor location as well as over the phone with Crestline Finance.

As of December 8, 2019, the Complainant’s account has been sold to ***. They can be contacted at .

I am trying to contact this company to make payment arrangement to pay off my debt. They tell me I cant make payment arrangements. They tell me I can update my address via phone..I have to email the information. Which is fine. They tell me I have to pay the lump sum which I cant afford. Last I knew I owed $683.28 and made a payment when I could of 50 dollars in Setemper, 50 in October and unable to give them any in November. I just got a second job and wanted to pay of $200 a month Jan, Febuary, and $283.28 in March. They tell me I can do that. Now they tell me I owe $809.99. I cant afford the interest and make the lump sum so they keep tacking on interest. I am very strapped for income and forced to move because of an abusive relationship. I was getting ahead now I have fallen behind. I cant understand how this can be legal. How can I pay them off when they keep adding interest to an old debt. Please review this company. I have made payment agreements for all my payday debts...but this company is the only one doing. This. It says there are 6 complaints about them through Revdex.com on their website too. But I can find them here. Thank you.

On 10/16 I was told $140.54 payment would completely close original loan, which I had paid off already. I used CC and made payment in full. This call should be recorded. Now 2 months later I am getting texts stating I owe more fees although I was assured on 10/16 this was final payment needed.
