I would recommend another lender, their actions were predatory, and I was left feeling uneasy that I gave any of my personal information to CrossCountry Mortgage Inc.

My realtor (the wife of my friend) recommended the loan officer, Michael P of CrossCountry Mortgage Inc. The rates from other lenders offered were similar, plus I liked the indirect personal connection.

During initial conversations, he insisted that I could “do anything I wanted” to buy more with my credit score, amount down, and current salary, but I wanted to stay within my means. As we continued with the process, an appraisal was ordered. The lender asked for the usual information, but also a copy of my social security card (despite the fact that I was applying for a conventional loan, not FHA) which gave me pause. I also was receiving emails from a gmail.com account for some of the transactions, or from different company representatives using Michael’s signature. Reminders to sign documents were also sent at 1 A.M. for every day they remained unresolved.

Michael then provided the initial loan agreement that did not reflect the numbers we discussed. It was 10% less than what I wanted to put down, and requested nearly five years of my tax returns (despite having an excellent credit score). When I spoke to the realtor about it, she claimed that I changed the numbers I originally gave him, and he wanted to show me how it was a better option for me to put less down because Michael said I was concerned about my monthly payments and it was only $20-30 a month more. In short, either Michael relayed a conversation we never had and/or the realtor wanted to ensure a potential referral bonus by using this lender. Upon finding this out, I canceled a meeting with the lender.

Of course, it is a tremendous difference in the amount of interest I have to pay over the 360 month period- money which goes directly to the mortgage company. I declined the offer and found another lender. The following day he sent documents to confirm the appraisal delivery. It was, however, more than that. These documents permitted the additional release of my personal and financial information, which I declined.

I should note that while the actions are seemingly legal, they are “predatory”. I left feeling like I might be the future victim of identity theft, or that my information was being sold to third parties. Whatever the intent, I am glad I changed lenders for a much better rate and transparent process.

CrossCountry Mortgage's loan officer made great efforts to inform the customer here various, specific loan scenarios to allow her to decide on the best option for her. She was informed that many times when determining a down payment, a viable strategy is looking at the difference in monthly payments versus and the amount of time it may take to re-accumulate the assets used for the higher down payment. Ultimately, the customer was sent a preliminary loan package with a 30 year conventional mortgage with a 20% down payment with the understanding that CrossCountry Mortgage could adjust the down payment up or down from there after the customer made a final decision.

As for the documentation requested, CrossCountry Mortgage requires certain documentation to originate any mortgage loan and the customer here was not asked for any information or documentation that other borrowers/customers are not routinely asked for.

Additionally, the loan officer researched all his correspondence with the client and his communication with the client always took place via a myccmortgage.com account vs. a g-mail account.

Finally, CrossCountry Mortgage acted as any prudent mortgage lender would in gathering the necessary documents to originate a mortgage and did its best to work with the customer on the best loan options available to her. At no time was the customer's information compromised, sold to or provided to a third party (nor will it in the future).

These folks are the best. They recruited my refi business the day after I discharged my Chapter 13 bankruptcy. They respected that we had successfully made it through 5 years of BK and were in good standing now. Then we ran into some problems with paperwork and my existing lender--but they powered through cheerfully and we got it done. Can't say enough good things about their Colorado office--they bent over backwards to problem solve, dedicated to getting it done. The terms and financials were competitive--they didn't gouge me or try to tell me what a bad risk I was because of the BK. They genuinely want to make people happy. And they did. Thanks Derrick and Sara!

Andrew M and Cross Country Mortgage receive my Highest Recommendation! We just closed on our Newly Constructed Condo in less than 30 days over this holiday season! He delivered exactly what he promised – no surprises. Thanks to Andrew’s professionalism, knowledge and experience, we were in our new home for Christmas. While other lenders I worked with did not fully understand the new condo loan market, Andrew knew exactly what to do. Can't thank him enough. He is very easy to work with and knew the right direction to take us. Initial contact was via the phone where he laid out all the expectations. He followed up with an email reminding me of everything I needed. He didn't go back and forth like other lenders asking for a page a day. Very organized manner of running his business which made the whole process run very smoothly. I would recommend him to my friends and family!

Highly recommend Cross Country. Andrew put me at ease everytime I called during a very stressful time. Nothing was ever "we can't do that" and he never made me feel like I was bothering him. I could call him 10 times about the same question and he treated it like I was calling the first time.

My husband and I took our a mortgage with CrossCountry Mortgage in June. We were told by their lawyers even at closing that our loan was in the process of being sold to another bank (Wells Fargo). About two months later, I received a formal notification from Wells Fargo confirming that they had purchased our loan and asking me to set up payments, which I did. I transitioned our payments on the timeline that was laid out in the notice, starting with the next payment and stopped paying CrossCountry. Mid-way through the month, I received a delinquency notice from CrossCountry. When I called customer service, I was told that my loan had NOT been sold, they had no documentation of this and that unless I could prove otherwise, I was in fact delinquent on my mortgage - even though I was up to date on payments with the new bank. Ultimately, this took about a month and a half to fully resolve, and I never received any written information from CrossCountry confirming that this issue has been resolved and that the mortgage was sold. I had to bring my lawyer back in as well as the person I'd worked with in originating the loan. I see by the fact that my account has been shut down, that I've stopped receiving delinquency notices and from a note on my credit report that showed the transfer that they must have fixed the problem. It remains very concerning that this happened at all, that they did nothing in the process to reassure me of resolution only made me feel like I was rushing them to resolve before they started claiming that I had missed multiple payments, and never provided written confirmation (which my lawyer and I both requested multiple times) that the issue was resolved. I would never recommend this institution and would never work with them again in any capacity.

Tried to refinance my primary residence and they asked for all of my personal information, I got an approved for a no-cash out refinance. Stated everything looked good, but had to pay $385 for a home appraisal. The appraisal was ridiculously low compared to other homes selling around, they emailed me stating the appraisal came out to low and they can not give me the loan. After all the this hassle, why didn't they first do the appraisal to see what the house was worth to let me know the house was going to be to low for them to refinance. They took my $385 and refuse to return my calls. On zillow and realtor.com, my home is estimated at 232,000. Crosscountry mortgage states my home is worth 220,000, according to their appraisal; which it had to be their appraiser. I asked the loan officer before paying the $385, If I am going to lose the $385, the loan officer stated "No, you are not going to lose the $385 because zillow states your home is worth 232,000 and all we need is 217,000 to close on the loan. I wonder how many other customers have went thru this experiences with them.

CrossCountry Mortgage takes all complaints seriously and wishes to only provide quality customer service. Mr. was interested in a refinance. During the process, a customer may be pre-approved or goes through the pre-approval process to get an idea of the customer’s loan package. The appraisal is an important component of the process to solidify terms and rates. Appraisals are conducted by a third party and are completely separate from CrossCountry. The appraiser and CrossCountry operate at an arm’s length. Because of the independent nature of the relationship, the cost of an appraisal falls to the customer. While it is understandable that the customer is disappointed in the appraised value of his home, the appraisal value is the only report that can determine terms for the refinance. Additionally, CrossCountry became aware of another customer owned property which caused the customer’s debt to income ratio to increase. Because of the debt to income ratio increase, the refinance was no longer beneficial to the customer. While it is unfortunate that the customer was disappointed in the process, CrossCountry will take this opportunity to continue to grow and provide quality customer service moving forward. Byron T with The Texas Team - CrossCountry Mortgage located at ***, has a problem with ethics. He is not trustworthy and lacks professional integrity. Byron, on several occasions approached me with requests for referrals and an offer to work with some of my potential clients. His intentions were not honorable, as I soon discovered. I would not recommend Byron or this lender under any circumstances.

Andrew M Did a great job with my loan!! as a real estate professional who deals with many different mortgage companies this is one of the best!! Thank you Andrew!

Recently I worked with Andrew M with Cross Country on a new home loan. I will stereo type the typical mortgage banker in my mind is dealing with somebody that is stuffy and condescending when you ask questions to understand or confused with the details, thinking of their bottom line… Working with Andrew was FAR FROM THAT!!!! Not only did he make me feel like a person, he was patient with all three properties that passed his desk for consideration to purchase. He explained everything, answered all my questions so I can understand and we also enjoyed conversation about other things besides home mortgages. To add a little more customer service, he looked for the best deals, deals that were focused on me and not the mortgager and the record time he turned it around, simply incredible. Too bad that on average we only purchase a home every 20 years or so, we should do it more often because working with Andrew was a great experience worth repeating!!!!

Andrew *** did a wonderful job. Great guy to work with and very helpful.

Please beware of this company, they will scam you out of your money and waste your time.I worked with this company for almost 3 months on a conventional cash out refinance loan.My loan officer Priscilla L had little to no follow through and was just all around a bold face liar.
She lied constantly from the beginning to the very end of the process. After working with her for almost 2 months, it was revealed that she never even submitted an application for my loan, even though we were already discussing closing. Throughout the process she reassured me that I was approved and that everything would go through. I was getting frustrated and was thinking about switching and working with another company, which I should have done.
After 2 months of wasted time and endless amounts of documentation request, I was told that I needed to pay for an appraisal. The appraisal costed me $600 which I thought was high. When they processed the payment, they broke it into 2 payments as if they were taking a portion of the funds $450 for them and another $150 for the actual appraisal. After paying for a $600 appraisal, not only was my house undervalued, but their were things in the appraisal that were not factual at all.
So all that money and it didn't even go in my favor. They also took photos of my entire home including the bathtubs, running faucets and even went in my sons room to take pictures as he laid in bed ill. I did not feel comfortable with this at all... A few days after the appraisal I was contacted by my loan officer who informed me that the loan wasn't going to through because my credit is being seen as a risk even though I have good credit.
This is something that she should have known from the beginning. Then proceeded to tell me that she could get me approved via FHA with no problem, which meant more inspections and work to be paid for by me before even receiving the loan. The biggest slap in the face is when she said that she could get me approved through FHA which I was very adamant that I didn't want from the beginning. Of course FHA will give me a loan I have good credit.
She said that FHA would actually require me use nearly all the loan money to pay off my remaining student loans and they would only give me rough 12% of the money back in actual cash. I am currently on a 10 yr repayment plan due to working in public service and I qualify for $0 monthly payments at least for the next year and more than likely longer. Why would I refinance my home to pay off student loans? Why would I pay them for 30 years on student loans while adding homeowners insurance and property taxes to the bill?
It makes no sense at all, this company is a joke. Now I am out of $600 and Christmas is next month, I could have spent that money on something way more purposeful instead of going back and forth with this crooked company. As for Priscilla Lopez, very unprofessional when ever she actually returned a call, all she did was spent time talking about her own personal life. I am tempted to say that we talked about her personal life more than my actually loan.
Which now I think may have been a diversion tactic so that I wouldn't actually pay attention to the fact that she just wasn't doing her job, period.
I am convinced that they make their money through fraudulently getting customers to pay for expensive appraisals and down payments when they know the loan will be denied or has already been denied. They cant actually close loans so they have to scam people.I do not want someone else to go through this so just do your self a favor ahead of time and avoid this company!

I couldn't be happier with the way that Andrew M and the team handled the loan process for my new home. They were very well organized, curtius and professional. They kept me informed daily on the process. If I called or emailed, I received a response within a half hour or quicker. If you are considering a home or refinance loan, please give them a call. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! The process of buying a home can be very stressful. They did an awesome job in handling that stress for you.

Andrew at Cross Country made the process of buying our first home so easy! He was always available to answer any questions that we had and made sure the closing happened on time

I like to share a very positive experience with Cross Country Mortgage via Andrew M. This person single handedly took me thru a refinance - cash out so smoothly in less than three weeks. He was very kind and extremely patient with me. I actually felt I got too relax with him. He is super smart in this area yet very down to earth. I really was beginning to feel like he was family. And if he had lived in the Chicago area I would have met him.

I recently worked with Andrew M with Cross Country Mortgage. My experience was above excellent! Andrew was professional, knowledgeable and very personable. He patiently guided me through each step of the process and went beyond by referring me to several other of his contacts to make my journey easier. Buying a house can be very stressful but Andrew made it easy and enjoyable.

I want to share a very positive experience I had with Cross Country Mortgage specifically with agent Andrew M. The loan was handled professionally and with no issues. I must say that this was the fastest I have ever had a loan processed and dealing with Andy was a absolute pleasure.

Crosscountry Mortgage did such an awesome job for us that I feel compelled to write a thank you email. Few things ever meet expectations and the odds lessen when you start with challenging circumstances. We’ve been relocated 3 times in 7 years and bought 5 homes in the last 10 years. Most important for us is that they did what they said they would do, second most important was that they kept us perfectly informed along the way and our loan officer always answered his phone even outside of normal working hours. Thank you so much for your most excellent service, this mortgage experience was by far the best, the best in every measurable way. Can’t say enough good things about Steve C and Crosscountry Mortgage!!!!!

The company representative (Andrew ***) purposely misguided me to get me to sign up for a refinance on my mortgage. I was promised my escrow money from my previous mortgage holder would be sent to me and after 6 weeks when I called to check on it I found out that Cross Country had taken the money. I gave them several opportunities to do the right thing and I was basically told sorry your money is gone. I would never do business that way I would recommend anyone who wants to be treated fairly to use a different company.

Mr. was given an explanation regarding his escrow account funds. Mr.’s escrow funds were never wired directly to CrossCountry. The funds were applied towards Mr.’s payoff in order to bring down the principal amount. CrossCountry explained to Mr. that had *** not applied the payoff funds CrossCountry would have been unable to get the loan closed at the payments and rates Mr. wanted. On May 10, CrossCountry had sent a Payoff Guaranty, in which the escrow funds were to be applied towards the principal. Further, CrossCountry Mortgage never communicated to Mr. that he would be receiving the escrow funds directly. In the beginning, all potential customers are told that escrow accounts can be refunded or applied towards principals or the new escrow accounts. Even Mr.’s payoff statement from *** states that the escrow funds can be applied toward the principal if the mortgagor authorizes the transfer. As stated above, if *** had not applied the escrow funds towards the principal, the entire loan would have required restructuring and would not have closed as Mr. wanted. More importantly, *** would not have applied the funds without authorization from Mr. to do so. CrossCountry even told Mr. that a simple phone call to *** would suffice for authorization. It is unfortunate the customer and CrossCountry experienced miscommunication; however, CrossCountry hopes this response clarifies the issue for Mr.. Regards,

I have reviewed Mr.s response (who I have never spoken with so I find it hard to believe he knows what I was told) and I find it to be incorrect at best. he keeps refering to my terms and rates when all I did was simply get a quote and they provided the payment info and rates. I sent Andrew *** a email that stated that I was reconsidering because I didnt want to add 9k in closing cost to my mortgage and he explained to me that on of the reasons it would not be that much was because of the $1500 I would be getting back from my escrow account. I have spoken with two different reps from *** who said they have documentation that crosscountry asked for my funds to be wired to them and not used for a payoff. if that was the case I should have been told that from the begining and not mislead. Mr.s statment that I gave someone a call or was even asked to make a call of that nature is a lie. I would like for the person I had the phone conversation with to respond to this complaint the lesson here is that when I sent the email questioning the deal I was asked to call the next day and I should have asked for what I was told in writing. it is a shame that you can't trust the company you are counting on to write your mortgage. I have emailed and called andrew *** several times but he will not respond because he knows what he told me. Mr. was correct in one thing I was giving a response by another person not involved in my mortgage but unfortunatly it was inacurate as well. Mr. should know that his false account of this situation does not clarify the issues for me.
